@Elon Musk Tesla is nice but when you get them going 500 miles on a single charge while using all the cars functions then come talk. Til then Mercedes is way better. Great day to you.
Definitely not true about the bentley maybe he had suspension problems or set more to sport than comfort if he has a W12 then you really have nothing coming with an s550 had both so this is from personal experience
That Bentley has quickly become one of my favourite cars, that in V8 or plug-in-hybrid trim is all the car you’ll probably ever need. I love photographing it during car spotting too, so much presence and all the owners spec it beautifully. The Mercedes is amazing too, the tech and the interior features put most luxury cars to shame. Speaking of which, do we like the new S-Class now? I remember most hated it when it came out, “it’s ruined because it looks cheap and like an A-Class saloon supersized”, “Interior is pathetic compared to the previous one, all in all, W222 (previous gen) for the win”, “values of old one going ⬆️”, etc. But now, pretty positive, I’ve always appreciated it, but never fell in love with the look.
I think the same. Front and especially rear end design has less presence than the predecessor. The W223, as well as the W206, lacks light design. Looked very cool in the predecessors, now it's just a bar of light.
I was one of the people who disliked the exterior and interior of the W223 when it came out, but it grew on me quite a bit. I still prefer the W222 overall, but I think the new one is quite nice, especially the interior. 33mpg out of an S500 is sweeeeet.

While I can say they are both great machines, and yes - objectively, the Merc may be better by this comparison, but with the bankroll to even afford either, objectivity goes out the window. Definitely the Flying Spur for me.

There are some actual sound level measuring devices that you can pick up pretty simply and they don't even cost much, and they'd give much more accurate readings. Other than that, loved the video!
First of all, the reviewer is a genius presenter. Most fun I have had listening to anyone review cars. Secondly, it is the Bentley for me. But I will happily have the Mercedes too.
Between those two I pick the Mercedes because twice the price is too much money, but comparing the Flying Spur V8 with the S-class 580 lwb (which is more fair) I would definitely go for the Bentley despite the still big difference in cost of acquisition.
From what I've heard, the majority of people who buy these (the 4 door bentley) are hideously well off. Like buying this has the same hit to their wallet likewise to me buying a big mac combo instead of a mcchicken. Its an added luxury, but to say you'll be hurt financially from it is a bit of an overstatement
I have a 2018 Flying Spur, tuned to 600HP. Simple, elegant spec. It just shoots forward and handles incredibly flat on curvy fast country roads. 6 years and 25k miles in, it's an unmitigated pleasure to drive and own. Also, no service issues.
I think the s580 vs the V8 Bentley would have been a better comparison. The W12 is just effortless. But when it comes to Bentley's, my heart is in the Mulsanne.
Having been to Goodwood a few times and sitting in the Mercedes, when you then go and sit in a Bentley the upgrade in quality is instantly noticeable and so that’s why I’d have the Bentley, the higher quality is worth it.
I really like your comparison of two great cars. I have owned both in four-door sedan as well a two-door coupe. The Bentley is by far the greater experience of any model. Even the RR cannot match the overall experience of a Bentley!
There is a lot more to judging ride quality than just using a vibration sensor on a mobile over a specific piece of cobbled tarmac. You really need to drive the cars over different surfaces, different conditions and assess primary ride, secondary ride, body control, small and large bump absorption etc etc.
A lot depends on the softness of the seats too. Noise insulation tends to be more important also. I have never been in a luxury car and thought that ride quality has been an issue.

I want to know why Mercedes thought in 2022 customers wanted a 2010 Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 bolted to the top of the dashboard? It's probably the worst design feature we will see in the entire decade. That's before we get to the oxymoron that is "luxury minimalism", cheap materials and the touch buttons.
Great video. You make me happy I bought the S-Class S580 with the V8, instead of shedding twice the amount of cash! Love your sense of humor...very entertaining! Keep up the GREAT work!
So from a classic definition of luxury, the Bentley wins by miles. Luxury includes a calm, silent, relaxing non demanding atmosphere to just enjoy peace. With all the displays and Technologie the brain cannot calm down due to a constant sensory overload
Well done to Mat on his reviews and car comparison videos. They're better than ever. Just wish the S Class was top spec with all its awesome features, just like the Bentley Flying Spur. The UK needs better specs for Mercedes, just as they are in Germany.
Yes,Yes,Yes..........You cant comparison Mercedes and Bentley......!!! TOTAL different World!!! All The Best, guys...... We Love Yours Shows...........
The Mercedes looks nicer in my opinion! Never liked the front head lights on the Bentley. The interior of the Mercedes though 😩 the blue neon light surround looks awful!
Each to their own I guess but you actually don’t like the ambient lighting in the S-Class?! Trust me, if you were to drive one/be driven in one you’d change your mind, it’s a really cool feature
@@sidrens5292 I have owned the new S Class for about 4 months now. The ambient lighting is very adjustable. It can be tuned to full bling or toned down to basic, subtle off-white.

If we're not going to be that one annoying "ackshually" guy then you'd just say it's a British brand. All that aside, he said show not car.
One of my good friends had a Bentley and absolutely hated it. Always was breaking and they did not treat him very well at the dealer. He decided to sell it and get an a8, and it’s only been a couple months but so far he loves it.
I am a Mercedes fanboy so ofcouse I would choose the S class, however the Flying Spur had many things which I actually prefer! I absolutely love the Bentleys "classical" look, and the ability to completely hide the infotainment screen would be a huge selling point for me. The quality of everything is also a huge plus (not saying Mercedes is bad by any means).
The tech in the S-Class is a disadvantage for me, 5 years from now those screens will be awfully outdated, but the good ol physical buttons in the Flying Spur will still be reliable and relevant. Tech sometimes goes too far and things become more gimmicky than they should. Screens are not the solution for everything and nothing beats a well manufactured physical button, it's more practical and the feeling of touching it is so much better, the people who have driven luxury cars know, some of them have buttons so good to push, that sometimes you feel like pushing them just for fun. The interior in the Bentley feels better and more luxurious in every conceivable way.
Odds are anyone who buys one of these new, is not going to be keeping them for 5-years so wouldn't care what the screen look like by then, but its a fair point 👍🏼
No they won't How is anything in it a gimmick? S class interior is far better especially Maybach. Physical buttons doesn't make something more luxurious by that logic why don't they stick a airplane dashboard littered with a mess of physical buttons while they're at it since they're already halfway there
The bentleys looks just win it for me, I wasn't sure which to go with but I think I'll probably just go with the bentley, cant wait, ill be getting it in just 15 more years!!
That Bentley is simply gorgeous :D. For me, I would pick the V8 variant. Lighter (relatively-speaking) and more agile than the W12 (I love that one also). Also, can you guys cover Gordan Murray's latest car :)
I had the previous model of the Spur with the V8S, and it was an amazing ride, although the tech was a bit antiquated. I now have the new Continental GT, and it is an amazing car. Probably one of the best cars the I’ve ever had. It looks stunning, has great performance, the interior is second to none and the sound system is so crazy, that’s it’s comical. There is no comparison to a Merc. Perhaps on paper, but when you see the cars in front of you, it is obvious how far the Bentley is ahead of the Merc. The only other manufacturer that comes close from an interior quality perspective, is Aston.
Aston Martin for interior quality ?! Nowhere near Bentley. Designwise and quality of materials, there are many many other manufacturers that are far better than Aston, Mercedes included. As far as exterior looks go though, Aston is the king of the hill at the moment. That new DBS is sublime !
@@AD-mq8ny I do not own any of these cars, but I am a film producer and we shot a couple of movies and music videos with cars like these, that we rented, so I do have a bit of experience. And from what I've seen, Aston doesn't come close to the fit and finish of the Bentley.
If I had a 220K to spend on a car, I would buy the S class and get myself a BMW M4 Competition or an M2 for the driving pleasure. I would even have money left to spend on tuning. But in reality I can't even afford a wheel fml.. xD
Well done! Difficult task. I felt informed enough to make a decision between these two vehicles. The Benz, has kept up with advancement. The Bentley, beautifully lives in the past. Again, Well done. I learned a lot.
With the decorative lights of the Merc, a person could be mistaken to think that you're actually sitting in a 8 year old boys play room, not an executive "limo". Pity you couldn't compare W12 to V12, would have been a more reasonable comparison.
@@daddy_keen1568 I agree with what SDA Dan cars is commenting but when it comes to the general car reviews bmw are nailing it compared to its rivals and that’s what people buy into
It matters not who is ahead regarding Mercedes, BMW and Audi. Ultimately they all end up producing the same car. The only measurable difference between them is the badge and the design. They're all built really well. They're all 4x4. They all have basically the same engines, power output, gearboxes and gross weight. Once apon a time Mercedes, Audi and BMW were totally different. High revving N/A RWD BMW. lazy Supercharged RWD Mercedes. Turbo Quattro Audi. Different engines, power, gearboxes and drive train. Brilliant! Today they all make the same car.
I'm actually at a dealership right now and I'm very disappointed in the cheap plastic inside the Maybach now. The old ones were much better, so I'd definitely go Bentley now for better quality.
I will never understand why people feel the need to touch or rub a car ... especially a car that's expensive. It's as if you don't have respect for the work put into the car.

I'd take the bentley any day. The s class interior just doesnt feel special, more like headache inducing.

ruclips.net/video/8RkYLdK1TAs/видео.html.
I’ve been stuck between these two specific cars for some months. Beautiful
So from a classic definition of luxury, the Bentley wins by miles. Luxury includes a calm, silent, relaxing non demanding atmosphere to just enjoy peace. With all the displays and Technologie the brain cannot calm down due to a constant sensory overload
😂
Well done to Mat on his reviews and car comparison videos. They're better than ever. Just wish the S Class was top spec with all its awesome features, just like the Bentley Flying Spur. The UK needs better specs for Mercedes, just as they are in Germany.
Bentley for ever Mat, the British craftsman ship is so unique and I can't miss it
6:45 I can't believe that's the interior of a flagship luxury car of mercedes. Last one was way better
I agree but the tech in the current gen S-Class compared to the last gen is better but the design, yawn 🥱.
Bentley lover always. (A proud skoda owner)

@@verynice8830 I have been driven in one and it completely ruins the experience! It’s meant to be class, not a nightclub.
@@sidrens5292 I have owned the new S Class for about 4 months now. The ambient lighting is very adjustable. It can be tuned to full bling or toned down to basic, subtle off-white.
@@stevedonell773 well that’s great! If that is the case in my opinion it wins against the Bentley 😊👍

All that aside, he said show not car.
When money is no issue definitly choose the Bently. That interieur is so beautifull.
One of my good friends had a Bentley and absolutely hated it. Always was breaking and they did not treat him very well at the dealer. He decided to sell it and get an a8, and it’s only been a couple months but so far he loves it.
That bentley sounds absolutely amazing, is anyone else not concerned/ impressed
Concerned and impressed are very different things.....
What? 😂
Not really.
Bentley Flying Spur is my dream car. It's just beautiful to look at from any angle and the interior is stunning.
The S-class is just a luxury taxi, while the Bentley is a car for a gentleman's soul.
True indeed
I am a Mercedes fanboy so ofcouse I would choose the S class, however the Flying Spur had many things which I actually prefer! I absolutely love the Bentleys "classical" look, and the ability to completely hide the infotainment screen would be a huge selling point for me. The quality of everything is also a huge plus (not saying Mercedes is bad by any means).
The s class is just so elegant and clean!love it
The tech in the S-Class is a disadvantage for me, 5 years from now those screens will be awfully outdated, but the good ol physical buttons in the Flying Spur will still be reliable and relevant.
True. So cheap.
No they won't
How is anything in it a gimmick?
S class interior is far better especially Maybach.
Physical buttons doesn't make something more luxurious by that logic why don't they stick a airplane dashboard littered with a mess of physical buttons while they're at it since they're already halfway there

THAT FLYING SPUR IS GORGEOUS, A PIECE OF ART!!!!! 👌👌👌👌
I would get the Mercedes Maybach if I had that much money to spend. It is beautiful on the inside and outside and has more technology.
The bentleys looks just win it for me, I wasn't sure which to go with but I think I'll probably just go with the bentley, cant wait, ill be getting it in just 15 more years!!
In my opinion the this was never a fair comparison. I think you should have compared the Maybach S class to the flying spur not the regular s class

Matt is too funny!! Awesome reviewer!!!
I think the right comparision is Mercedes Maybach vs Bently. In this case, twice the money should be considerable better.
There are many ways to compare two or more things. This was not an equal comparison.
That Bentley is simply gorgeous :D. For me, I would pick the V8 variant. Lighter (relatively-speaking) and more agile than the W12 (I love that one also). Also, can you guys cover Gordan Murray's latest car :)

This fuckin bot comments are annoying
And ofc it sounds better

I Love everything you do on Car Wow Matt
If I had a 220K to spend on a car, I would buy the S class and get myself a BMW M4 Competition or an M2 for the driving pleasure. I would even have money left to spend on tuning. But in reality I can't even afford a wheel fml.. xD

Well done!
Difficult task.
I felt informed enough to make a decision between these two vehicles.
The Benz, has kept up with advancement.
The Bentley, beautifully lives in the past.
Again,
Well done. I learned a lot.
With the decorative lights of the Merc, a person could be mistaken to think that you're actually sitting in a 8 year old boys play room, not an executive "limo". Pity you couldn't compare W12 to V12, would have been a more reasonable comparison.
