This is a oil sucker……from 2016 to 2019 lots a people had a engine replaced on this cars and they did not solve the problems as I know of,maybe that’s why Ford discontinued this model, lots of this car for sale out there now, also I heard the GT is well made quicker and $25k less.
@@jnagime well the GT’s stock definitely are not quicker, but at the end of the day this car is for driving enthusiasts, not people who are chasing top track times. Though it does do very admirably on tracks. Much better than even PP2 GT’s. Pretty much any research would back that up. Kinda weird to see people still try to knock this car. It’s gonna go down as probably the greatest of the modern American V8’s.
I've been checking the forums for years and 95% of the reported problems are either oil level or engine mod related. Just do like the guys said in terms of checking the oil & not redlining it cold and you'll be fine.
Exactly, people under value maintenance, and over value car brands. I hear all the time how Japanese cars are so reliable, and American cars are crap. But our Explorer is almost 5 years old with no issues, and I know multiple subaru and Nissan owners who are having issues with vehicles that are newer that ours.
15k miles on my 2018 gt350. 2 track days on it. Just came back from a 800 mile road trip... not one issue. No oil consumption , and drove like a dream. Love mine

One needs to do homework on a vehicle....I own one and the only problem I encountered was the IMRC on my 2016.....corrected that with a 2018+ intake manifold.......They're great cars.....

My advice is to plan on an intake manifold swap and go with a 2018+ intake manifold and a VMP style harness to run them. You'll love the engine response. The swap with tune and harness will be under $1000 and well worth it.....Good luck and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.....I just did a 2016 GT and it is awesome.....
Fellow lead foot grey 350 owner, the oil consumption isn't that bad even when I daily drove it for a year, now that I only drive it on the weekends the oil consumption isn't really an issue. Coming up on 20k miles and still zero significant problems. Great vehicle so far, no complaints.
I have 71k miles on mine.. no problem at all. I check the oil every couple weeks..add when needed.. no problem All. Freaking love this car!! Even as a daily drive it just rocks!!
I daily drive mine since I got it and it had 21,000 miles and now has 32,895. I love it have had no problems so far! I love waking up every day driving in rain, heat, traffic and have not have a problem yet!
Awesome video bro! You nailed everything in terms of reliability of the car. Also the shelby community is so amazing. I seriously don’t think there are any other car community’s that are better.
As a coyote owner, who always wanted to eventually upgrade to a GT350, I used to be a doubter about the rumors & concerns about the reliability of the GT350. However at this point, now that I can afford a used GT350, I can't safely feel comfortable jumping into a 350. I have never seen soo many "buyback," "rebranded" or "manufacturer recall" titles as I have with the GT350. The only other car I've seen as many with were Hellcats. Not to mention if they dont have those terms attached to their titles, they have more than 2 owners in a short amount of time. That tells me something, and most of the 1 owner, clean cars have very low mileage, where maybe its too early in its ownership to have issues. It sucks. The GT350 is an amazing piece of machinery, but I think there's a reason Ford moved on from it in a short matter of time.
I want to hear from someone with 100k miles on the car. Saying my car is reliable with 20-30k does not impress me, I think that’s the bare minimum for any car. If it can’t go 100k without “major problems” I’m not interested, I’ve ran multiple 5.0 coyotes past 100k and had 0 issues. Can the 5.2 do the same?
@@EddieX I’ve been to countless forums hunting to hear that from SOMEBODY. THANK YOU. Honestly. I’d damn near gave up hope. Stuck between a base 350 or a Mach 1 and my heart wants the 350 but that reliability scares me for my only car daily driver. Thank you for giving me hope it’s not going to crash and burn the second I turn the key lol
Camaro SS1LE owner here. GT350 sounds a little fragile honestly although I’ve also seen a bunch at track days and it’s always fun following each other around for some laps. I love the special sauce the GT350 offers but the car does seem like it demands more attention.... still debating the switch but honestly can’t go wrong .. almost the end of V8 NA motors with manual transmissions. Enjoy em while we can!
I have a 2018 GT350. Motor blew at 1,800 miles and I was given a Gen 2 2019 Motor. I have put 35,000 miles on that motor and had 0 issues. Since then, I've only had to replace my alternator and something in the cruise control. Otherwise, this has been an absolutely mental car and 10/10 would do it over again.
@@JonZam83 No I did not, was under warranty. I'd recommend a 2019 or 2020 only if you go GT350 as the motors are better. I now have a 2019 GT350R and at 12k miles with 0 issues.
The metallic and/or lead foot grey 350R with black stripes and red pinstriping is my dream car hands down. I won’t lie the bronze wheels absolutely killed the look idk how people put wheels like that on such a beautiful car
I own a 19 gt350R. Engine had a valve drop at 5800miles. Engine being swapped but really hard to trust from now on…never had a drop of oil consumption and car was never raced nor driven that hard…
Thanks for the vid. Buying a 2019 with about 900 miles on it from CarMax. Still under factory warranty through April 2025 and I’m getting the CarMax warranty on top of it. Replacing my Golf R with it as my daily driver in Southern California. Very excited.
Thanks! Definitely keeping it stock through the warranty period. I spent a weekend with one through Turo and no desire for more power. Not yet at least.
I have a 2017 Gt 350 with 35300 miles no reliability problems, only battery replaced under warranty and the ford dealership didn’t use the correct oil filter tool and damaged the filter and some oil leaked out which they fixed and gave me a whole new oil change.no mods just lighter wheels. Oil consumption is at about a half quart to 1 quart every 800 to thousand miles. It’s my daily driver that is not driven hard, but I always check my oil .
My Voodoo engine has blown last september. It had 18 000 km and rods 5 and 7 snapped at 7500 rpm. It broke a hole in the block and caught fire. I've never redline it nor going WOT when cold. I got my GT350 back at the beginning of October and just finished the break-in period. Even if at first I wanted to sell my car, now I can't. I'm totally addicted to that sound.
I had a 2018 GT350 . It was cool , unbelievable handling , sounded great . BUT , every time I went upper rev range I was constantly nervous , given Ford’s reputation for warranty claim denials . Felt like it was about to explode . Plus , people always thought it was ‘just a mustang’ , and not much low-end torque . Traded it for a Vette Grand Sport six months later . Two seaters rock .
Currently own a 2016 GT350, I live in Norway and I use it as a daily driver. I absolutely love it, but I have never taken it to a track and I have never had it above 6000 RPM. My hope is that by driving it well under its limits, I can have this car for many many years and miles.
What's the point of buying a 8200rpm motor and not taking it to the redline? Isn't the whole point of buying a GT350 to explore the whole rpm range, just like a Ferrari 458 or Porsche 911 GT3 or whatever? 🙂
I loved mine. But I was so scared that I was gonna blow the engine because I was low 2 quarts of oil after 300 miles I traded it in for a f150. Also set the recline at 7500 and never redlined. Waiting for 2019-2020 I can afford comfortably
Hey guys, nice vid! 2019 owner, dropped a valve idling at a red light at 700mi... bang bang bang.. a new engine. Still love my car, now at 3000mi. No track days yet.
I have a 2017 that popped around that mileage too. Motor consumed oil from day one. Ford replaced the motor under warranty. The new motor has about 4000 miles and there is zero oil consumption now and I pound on the car. Pretty happy.
Blew my motor around 20k. Pretty sure it was operator error. This motor needs to be nice and warm before you get it over 3k. It could stand to have a low temp light, similar to what some Mazdas have.
First thing I do as I pull in the garage after a drive. Pop the hood and let it cool and remember to check oil each and every time I drive it. Smartest thing you can do besides changing the garbage motorcraft oil for something better. I choose Amsoil, which was done exactly at 1000 miles. I don't think I ever drove the car without a smile on my face yet.
My experience so far with a local shop that works on these is that the engines break all the damned time. The Ford dealership had a GT350 with a broken valve spring and just 24 miles on the odometer. I watched a GT350 with just under 1,000 mi on it blow its starter while on the dyno. It just wouldn't start and had to be towed to the dealership. There are youtubers who have lost their engines with just a few thousand miles on them. It's a shame because they're nice cars. I think the Mach1 will be the better buy.
A Shelby is my dream car. I’ll be in the market in a couple months, but am disappointed that it’s getting discontinued. Still, i’m going to try and make it happen. I want a new one. Black looks great, but i’d probably go with Wimbleton white w/ blue stripes, or Kona blue w/ white stripes.
Nice video guys.. I have a 16 with less than 4900 miles, yes not my daily driver. I don’t baby it, no issues. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it !
I’m wondering if the core of the engine oil consumption problem and engines blowing up is from the use of such light thin oils brought upon US auto manufacturers by the strict EPA mileage requirements?
i just got a brand new gt350 and i didnt know you had to drive it under 4000k rpms for the 1st 100 miles i am now at 387 miles ive been driving soft ever since i found out do you think my engine will go bad soon blow up or something (i did a 6k rpm pull right off the dealership)
Bro it doesn't only concern the GT350. You can't high rev any brand new car, metal pieces have to gently break-in/friction before going under high revs..
@@EddieX I bought it new and broke it in per manufacturers spec. After that, I drove it like I stole it. Normally I was putting a half quart in every so often, then it just miraculously stopped consuming oil. I redline her every time I drive her. Hard not to!
If you are buying one used, read between the lines on the carfax report. I've seen engine failures reported as an intake replacement. If it wasn't for me finding that car on RUclips I probably would've bought it. I would make sure that the vin on the block matches the car.
I wouldn't be worried, there will always be a few people with horror stories, but most modern cars are very reliable. I remember when we bought our 2017 explorer, and someone on a forum was talking about engine issues. That might scare some people, but we're talking about one, or a few cases of bad experiences out of thousands, if not millions of cars. Like in the case of my car, they built like 1.5 million 5th gen explorers, and overall, they have a pretty solid reputation for reliability.
Yeah forums freak me out because I see mostly complaints. I forget that the people having a great time with the car are probably out driving it instead of posting on forums.
I really appreciate ALL OF the topics that you folks touched on this video. The small talk, the large talk, the oil consumption talk, all of the talk is important!!! the warranty talk to cover yourself is important, this is an amazing car, but folks it's a race car!!! You have to Pop the Hood and check the oil!!!! If not, drive something else! Thanks guys!! I choose the "Voodoo" Platform all the way!!
I love my GT350!! I will be honest I’ve only put 6200 miles on mine. I’ve only added one quart in 6200 miles. That one quart was probably added bc I was driving it hard. High revving engines consume oil and that’s understandable. I always start it up and let it get to operating temp before I get wild in it. I’m sure I will have problems with it in the future like any other car but that is just part of it. Nothing last forever. The car is a dream come true to me!!
couple of my really close friends have GT350's (one of them has an R) and a mutual friend had one too. The one with the 2017 blew the engine on track and the second one with the 2020 R always gets the CEL for the littlest things. Both track their cars extensively. The mutual friend got his lemon law'd. It's an awesome car but it kinda turned me off for the car and I would rather get a used P-Car...
13.5k miles on my 2017 with no issues, looking into putting a whipple on it now. Eddie I have those same wheels in the same color except my car is red, great choice lol. I was looking into upgrading to an R but prices have sky rocketed so I’ll just keep mine n boost it
Eddie I’m happy you’re happy, but speaking for myself there is zero chance of me going from Audi to a mustang. However I’m happy you’re happy and that’s all that matters
And your experience is most people's experience. People see a few people with issues on forums and they lose their minds. They forget that 99% of owners are driving around with no issues.
Is plain and simple “You take care the car and will be reliable, doesn’t matter what car it is.” You have people the beat the crap out of these cars and others that they do really care of them, me personally In a year or two I will be looking for a GT350 I hope they don’t go up in value yet these cars are special and awesome Thanks for the video and information!
I just bought my 2018 gt350 just under 2 weeks ago. I've put on @ 600 miles so far and checked the oil yesterday. It's still on the full line, so I must be doing good. Have only taken it to 8k twice though, so maybe just driving it lightly it isn't burning oil. The car just hit 13,500 miles.
There is a lawsuit, due to the lack of proper cooling on the early models unless you bought the "track pack". As much as I love these cars, the Voodoo was a special engine that is now EOL'd which means parts will become more scarce and more expensive very quickly.
Jlt passenger oil separator is very needed. If not used the intake will get alot oil going in it. I have a 2017gt350 It worked well keeping oil out of the intake. Still on a stock tune and went 11.6 at 122 with a 1.90 60ft at 41 motor plex morroco Indiana. great content maby I will see you out on the street sometime. Mine kinda sticks out like a sore thumb. You might freek when you see my gt350.
I think Adam LZ’s GT350 caught fire because of that oil filter, even after going to the dealership for fixing (it happened twice to him on the track, but the second time it burned to the ground)
I love the manual transmission in my 2019 Bullitt. The MT82 is great as far as I’m concerned. Maybe you had bad luck but mine has been reliable. Steeda speaks highly of it also and told me they’ve used it in their high performance cars without issues and that’s why they leave hit in their Steve McQueen Edition of the Bullitt. GETRAG is a German company that makes it and they also make the manuals for Porsche ie tge GT4 for example. I like the GT 350 and I agree that it’s basically reliable and research I’ve seen backs that up. A few people have had issues with engine failures but vast majority of cars have had no problems.
Hope your experience remains good with the Mt82. They definitely made improvements but early ones were such garbage, well documented design flaws and issues.
While Getrag is German, the MT-82 was built in China. I haven't had any issues with my MT-82 in my 2017 GT with 53k miles. However, the stock shift feel is garbage as it feels like you're shifting a plastic toy. A trans-mounted short shifter and Steeda clutch spring are a must for any Mustang with the MT-82.
@@tranc3porter - “Garbage”? That’s harsh, but you’re entitled to your opinion. I’m entitled to mine. I love using the manual transmission in my Bullitt Mustang. It’s been smooth and easy to use no problems at all! So I totally disagree it’s garbage and would recommend it to anyone buying a manual Mustang. Of course the Tremec 3160 will be in the Mach1... same as in the GT350.
@@tranc3porter - True. I’m not an experienced race car driver. I’ve only driven a mundane Porsche Boxster, a GT350, a Miata, a Mustang, a Honda S2000’and other ordinary manual street cars. Great Video!. I own a 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350. Heritage White with the Blue Stripe 💙 it. I only have 600 miles. So far so good. I agree having thw extended warranty.
I think a simple test to figure out if your car is reliable or not is if you buy extended warranty or not. If you think it’s reliable, there shouldn’t any need to buy extended warranty because you trust it.
I have a 2016 GT350 and you cannot help but drive these things aggressively that's the main issue a lot of young drivers buy these cars they put gas in them push the pedal they never check the oil that's where a lot of the issues come from if you drive this car hard for a month and do not check the oil level you're flirting with disaster they hold a lot of oil people think that makes them okay oh don't worry about it you still got eight quarts in it if this thing gets 2 quarts low or more it can go at anytime
High revving…oil consumption..people questioned its reliability but it’s not as unreliable as people think…sounds like a ROTARY..which makes me want one.
Break in period for these engines are critical. If done correctly you’ll be fine. Also, engine oil from factory comes with an additive and a lot of guys are getting oil changes to early to remove “metal shavings”. Don’t go over 4K RPM and seat the rings properly, then get oil change after 6 months. That’s what I did and I have almost zero oil consumption.
I’m at 16k miles in 2016 gt350, never taken it to a track but from driving hard like it should be driven car does consume oil. Just change the oil every 5k miles. And like the guys said just top off the oil. Where did you get the extended warranty? My warranty just ran out.
My 18 ZL1 doesn't burn oil and I daily drive it, take it to autocross events a few times a year. It's not babied at all. Every car is different. It's great that Ford made this engine but I think they should have done a lot more development instead of throwing it to the public because they wanted to get it out there quickly. It's turning into a E60 M5 issue.
So I used to own a gt350 and had two oil catchers in the engine . This voodoo engine is direct injection only ! I sold and bought a 2022 Lexus Lc 500 5.0 litre naturally asperated engine that makes 472 hp and is direct and ported injection so will last forever ! Don’t waste your money
Hi EddieX, first time poster here. Love your Gt350R content! Which extended warranty would you go with the Ford or a Third Party Warranty company? Obviously the Ford is safer choice, but it costs almost 2 times as much from some other quotes I've gotten from Third Party.....
So far 3300 miles on my 2019 and the oil on the dipsitck has barely moved. I am assuming 1/8 of a quart consumed. I believe the hype is due to people who are having issues being vocal and the other 98% who are having zero issues being silent because there is nothing to complain about. Buy it, drive it, enjoy it. Everytime I fire up the engine, I feel like won the lottery. It's that good.
I love this especially after hearing all the horror and I’m definitely buying an ESP but my budget only allows for a used one with like 25k miles on it. A 2019 for $50k ish. I’m just petrified of buying on and the esp not covering an engine change if the rings go out on a cylinder and it starts smoking or if it does drop a valve or lose tolerance and drink oil like it’s fuel. I’m honestly scared to own the car and be at a loss if the motor goes out.
No matter how many excuses you make about this car and the engine its STILL drinks oil like its gas tank......you cant get around something like that and the cost of the upkeep and the time in the shop and trying to modify the car just makes this car so unappealing these days......by the time and money u have spent in this car you might as well bought a Ford GT.....I'm just bias i guess bc i use to own GT500 and i spent way too much time and money in that car then what its worth.....Love ur videos tho.....great content and ur enthusiasm about the 350 is awesome so i feel you and theres something about AMERICAN MUSCLE that is unmatchable but after going thru way too many maintenance issues I had to walk away but im good now ( 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S Hybrid) and maybe one day ill own another Mustang again. Keep up the great work and great content!
@@jbdoingjbstuff ahhh yes.....u have the cream of the crop my friend....the 2020 will run so much nicer and all of the kinks have been somewhat worked out.....you got urself a damn good ride!!!
Only reason I’m looking into getting a GT350 is because I plan to throw a whipple 3.0 on it and see 800 rwhp BUT I keep reading mixed reviews of these 5.2 high rev engines . Some say it loves boost some say it’s a terrible idea. I’m a Chevy guy, all of my corvettes and ZL1s have been cammed and boosted making 750-800 wheel . Always wanted a Shelby because the simple fact it’s a Shelby lol
I've had my eye on these for a few years as I really appreciate what they are but wow. I've heard about some of these things but this summary kind of puts it into perspective. I think I now understand why Ford discontinued this engine----it is a high-maintenance motor in the vein of early 1990s Ferrari. Most Ford V8s are "set it and forget it" reliable but not this one. Checking oil every 500 miles??? I have an Alfa Giulia Ti with 30K miles and it runs like a Toyota Camry compared to this GT350. I also have a 10 year old Jag XJ Supercharged with 90K miles that I put one quart in between oil changes, so about every 3000 miles. You guys are scaring me with this GT350----I may just buy a Maserati Gran Turismo MC instead...less maintenance!!
Had a 2017 Ruby red R 7500 miles on it consumed 8 quarts every 1100 miles very disappointed traded it but I do miss the look and fun I had. I just didn’t want the headache of the process of fixing it thru the dealership shenanigans
This video resonated with me - thank you. I’m currently thinking about selling my 997.1 turbo for a 2020 GT350R with very few miles. I’m on the fence. My 997 is an amazing car and at 17 yrs old doesn’t have a single rattle and runs like a top. But I’m loving that V8 FPC exhaust note. Not sure which way to go. Thoughts?
@@EddieX yes it’s a manual. I converted the clutch to a GT2/3 style as well so it’s no longer power assisted. I added a europipe exhaust too but it’s still no high revving V8…
I cannot agree with you more on the MT82 trans, even as my first manual transmission, I know this is NOT a good transmission. hence the reason I sold my Mustang GT for a GT350.
How does the factory warranty work abroad for example, if you purchase the car from the US and ship it to Europe and the engine blows out, can you use the warranty with a local Ford dealership?
that's not true either, theyre just as issue prone as any other modded car. ppl that mod cars know the repercussions of their actions. Depending how far you push the stock components paying out of pocket for a rebuild is not uncommon no matter what car you own and this one is no better and no worse than any other
@@gnow5839 No sir this engine is notorious for cracking under heat very easily if ran slightly higher with oil issues, just like the GTR Trans and the BMWs s55 engine crank hub every car has its weak points and this is no exception.....The best car for modding would be the 2jz with limited issues on stock components along with the 4g63 and the LS series of yesterday
@@blackice214 notorious for cracking under heat? where in the world are you getting your info from? the engine does not have "heat" problems. it has vibration issues from the FPC but that's about it along with the oil consumption but as long as you stay on top of that it will not make your motor fail unless of course you have one that is ridiculous in which case ford will give you a new motor. I have NEVER heard of these motors having "heat" issues, literally never. Ill say it again, these motors are just as reliable as any other coyote or LS/LT or hemi when modded. When a stock motor does blow it usually is something related to oil starvation, not heat either. Im trying to think of what it is exactly that youre talking about and for the life of me I cannot locate it. The only time the FPC needs to be changed out for a CPC is when youre at the 1300ish rwhp due to excessive harmonic vibrations and that's the only weakness I can think of when modding these cars whether youre FBO or youre running a basic boosted setup or youre somewhere in the middle.... youre failure rate is not any higher than any other American V8 sports/muscle car on the road with the same setup assuming both motors are healthy
@@gnow5839 you are correct. These hold mods and power just as well as the gen3 coyote, if you say these are unreliable when modded then you’re also saying the gen3 is the same and with the number of gen3’s on the streets putting down good numbers I’d say they’re doing just fine

Manual states no extended WOT until oil temp is at least 190. I take that to the extreme and don't go over 4k until it gets that hot.
Better safe than sorry
WOT...WHAT IN THE GRAPES DOES THAT MEEEN???..N WHY ABREVIATE..WE ARE ALL NOT THAT SMART!!
@@scottbarker9058 don’t go wide open throttle until your oil temperature is at least 190 degrees F.
I live by that religiously.
I don’t rev over 3000 in mine until 170. I also don’t go WOT until it gets a tad warmer, call it 180-200, depending on my mood 😉
Agreed! Loving it so far.
largely because it is one of the biggest, as this is one of the best cars you can get for such a cheap price
I feel like a decent amount of youtubers made this cars engine problem seem worse than what it was
100%... most are user error
Both points about the ownership is why I’m so hesitant on buying. I see 2-4 owners w/
Agreed. Decided to go with Mach 1 instead. Coyote is more reliable
Just saw one listed for sale with 115k miles. No issues.
Good point I feel the same way. I only want to hear people that have high milage and daily drive them.
I own one as well, and quite literally get asked by everyone if I have had motor issues. Lol
You were given a motor? Did you have to pay anything? I'm asking cause I'm deciding between this or a mach 1... Lol
@@JonZam83 No I did not, was under warranty. I'd recommend a 2019 or 2020 only if you go GT350 as the motors are better. I now have a 2019 GT350R and at 12k miles with 0 issues.
@@CarsUncovered awesome, thanks for the reply!
@@JonZam83 Yup, good luck!!
I have an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio and have no oil consumption issues thank god! Crossing fingers going forward.
Love those!
Those are beautiful cars, great to hear you're enjoying your ownership experience thus far!
I have a 2019 GT 350 R and it is Great just check the dip stick every two tank full . Its something I do and it keeps me Happy.
Anything new you could update me with. Do you still own it or how many miles did you have before you sold it or any issues and concerns?
Thanks for the vid. Buying a 2019 with about 900 miles on it from CarMax. Still under factory warranty through April 2025 and I’m getting the CarMax warranty on top of it. Replacing my Golf R with it as my daily driver in Southern California. Very excited.
Aaron warranty is voided once you mod the car or tune it
Thanks! Definitely keeping it stock through the warranty period. I spent a weekend with one through Turo and no desire for more power. Not yet at least.
Don’t get carmax warranty. Always go through the manufacturer. Flood ford ESP is a good place for extended warranties
Good job about explaining the rumors. People see Mustang and think " beat it and all will be well.". Thanks for the content.
Thanks for watching!
lol gta "you yelled at your car and it somehow had an effect"
I have one, 18k miles, rear shocks are seeping and need replacement. Also has a ringing at low rpm’s that 2 dealers have failed to find.
I'm totally addicted to that sound.
my gt 350 has 10,000 still good so far ! i never change this car.
thanks guys for the update!!
Same here well 9700 but close enough
I had a 2018 GT350 . It was cool , unbelievable handling , sounded great . BUT , every time I went upper rev range I was constantly nervous , given Ford’s reputation for warranty claim denials . Felt like it was about to explode . Plus , people always thought it was ‘just a mustang’ , and not much low-end torque . Traded it for a Vette Grand Sport six months later . Two seaters rock .
Well, obviously, you don't get the Mustang mystique. So, go ahead an buy a Corvette or a Mercedes or a Toyota. That's fine.
The GT 350 is miore unique than the corvette and will be a collector's item one day.
vette certainly handles and feels better good choice
My 2017 350 motor popped at 8k. Ford replaced under warranty, got a gen2. Love this car. Drive it every day. At 34k now.
Dude I never would have thought bronze wheels would go soo good with the gt350r but wow they look good
2017 350 whipple 787 whp 21k so far no issues except about to do more with clutch and drive shaft and headers...best stang I have ever owned...
Just ran into my oil filter coming loose on my 2016 gt350, got the new oil filter housing on the way.
I don’t have an oil problem with my 2019 GT350R. Did a track weekend at Road Atlanta. Have 2200 miles.
i just got a brand new gt350 and i didnt know you had to drive it under 4000k rpms for the 1st 100 miles i am now at 387 miles ive been driving soft ever since i found out do you think my engine will go bad soon blow up or something
(i did a 6k rpm pull right off the dealership)
Lololol premature wear forsure
I’m a year late but i surely hope you’re joking😂😭🤦🏿♂️
Bro it doesn't only concern the GT350. You can't high rev any brand new car, metal pieces have to gently break-in/friction before going under high revs..
Yes! More Shelby Gt350 videos-Great job Eddie!
Yea!
Many more will come.
My 2017 consumed a small amount of oil when new and now consumes 0 oil at 9,000 miles.
It healed itself haha. Have you changed your driving style?
@@EddieX I bought it new and broke it in per manufacturers spec. After that, I drove it like I stole it. Normally I was putting a half quart in every so often, then it just miraculously stopped consuming oil. I redline her every time I drive her. Hard not to!
If you are buying one used, read between the lines on the carfax report. I've seen engine failures reported as an intake replacement. If it wasn't for me finding that car on RUclips I probably would've bought it.
I would make sure that the vin on the block matches the car.
I havent had any problems with mine. Videos in my channel. But most don't make many miles with their GT350 so it's hard to talk about reliability.
Beautiful car Eddie, Keep up the wicked work buddy!
Thanks!
I was looking into upgrading to an R but prices have sky rocketed so I’ll just keep mine n boost it
Not a good motor for boost with the flat plane crank imo
Eddie I’m happy you’re happy, but speaking for myself there is zero chance of me going from Audi to a mustang. However I’m happy you’re happy and that’s all that matters
What kind of audi
I have GT350 that I've. had since new (2016), rev it to redline fairly often and use as a daily driver with 36k miles and NO issues...
And your experience is most people's experience. People see a few people with issues on forums and they lose their minds. They forget that 99% of owners are driving around with no issues.
@@KB-bh9hp Yes, good point. Common sense goes a long ways. I love my GT350 and it has been all I've wanted.
i am good with my mt82 so far. It's not bad after throw bushing, short throw shifter in and have a transmission oil changed.
Is plain and simple “You take care the car and will be reliable, doesn’t matter what car it is.”
You have people the beat the crap out of these cars and others that they do really care of them, me personally In a year or two I will be looking for a GT350 I hope they don’t go up in value yet these cars are special and awesome
Thanks for the video and information!
I just kept replaying the intro and drooling 🤤 over myself.
Yas 😍😍😍
@@rembo183 I'm assuming you haven't driven many other manual transmission performance cars. Yes the stock shift feel is garbage.
Ty for the info. I’m buying one in the near future. Still doing my homework.
Very good video, good information & on point.
Glad you liked it!
Great work as always!
Thanks!
Yeah... if the same person had two engines blow, that's a driver / maintenance issue and likely not an engine issue.
Currently weighing one of these and a GT500 for purchase next year. Finally ready. Worried about the long term of that Voodoo.
Good stuff Ed keep the content coming ! Nice job
Recently blew my 2016 gt350 motor at 30k miles 😪 waiting for my new motor to come in been like a month
Two awesome rides right there. 👍 keeping up with your needed maintenance will definitely pay dividends down the road.

Great video! Could you guys do a video/ share tips on what to look for when buying a used GT350 ? Thanks!
My 350 burns 1qt per 1000 miles like clockwork. Running AMSOIL and it still consumes
Does this car have oil level sensor? So that when the oil gets low the car notices you and you pull over and fill up.
No, it does not unfortunately.
28000 miles on my 2016 GT350 still running strong.
Wait is the gt is also like this
I've had my eye on these for a few years as I really appreciate what they are but wow.
Thoughts?
Man that’s hard…is the 997 manual?
If you want to try an experience, the GT350R is truly a special special experience.
We FORSURE need more gt350R content!!
How does the factory warranty work abroad for example, if you purchase the car from the US and ship it to Europe and the engine blows out, can you use the warranty with a local Ford dealership?
Did you get your motor replaced under warranty? The piston rings was the issue on the Gen 1 Voodoo’s.
Nope.
Once these get modded the issues sky rocket 🚀, if you keep them stock and good maintenance you should be fine for 5 years 80k miles
blackice214 Eddie X would be voiding the warranty modding the Shelby
that's not true either, theyre just as issue prone as any other modded car. ppl that mod cars know the repercussions of their actions.
The only time the FPC needs to be changed out for a CPC is when youre at the 1300ish rwhp due to excessive harmonic vibrations and that's the only weakness I can think of when modding these cars
whether youre FBO or youre running a basic boosted setup or youre somewhere in the middle.... youre failure rate is not any higher than any other American V8 sports/muscle car on the road with the same setup assuming both motors are healthy
@@gnow5839 you are correct. These hold mods and power just as well as the gen3 coyote, if you say these are unreliable when modded then you’re also saying the gen3 is the same and with the number of gen3’s on the streets putting down good numbers I’d say they’re doing just fine
So what did Ford do for early GT350 engines (vs what Porsche did (replace motors and extend warranties)
There was no systemic design flaw found in then like the GT3 engines. Engines failed under warranty that qualified would be replaced.
Great job fellas!
