  • I wanted this video to be the only video you'd have to watch to learn how to drive a car with a manual transmission (stick shift) I figured the Shelby GT350 would be a great car to show y'all as well. Here's the video break-down:
1:23 - Why everyone should learn to drive a manual
5:22 - Getting the concept of a manual transmission
7:43 - Getting rolling and stopping in 1st gear
    13:32 - Up-shifting and adding speed
    17:03 - Slowing down & stopping
    19:13 Rev matching & heel-toe downshifting
    22:50 - Driving around (tips & tricks)

I just bought a 2019 race red GT350. It’s relatively easy to drive stick on this car vs a smaller or less powerful car. Pay close attention to what he’s saying about going from a stop in 1st. That’s the toughest part of a standard transmission. This is my first time seriously driving/learning stick. The first time I attempted it was in a Miata when I was about 16. I only drove for about 5 minutes, so I’m still a newbie. I still need to learn how to rev match downshift and let off of the clutch a little more smoothly.

Just picked up a 2016 GT performance package, never driven a manual before but i watched some videos on how to. Drove 3 hours to the dealership in a different state, practiced for 20 minutes and then drove the 3 hours home lol. I stalled a few time practicing but once I started going home i only stalled once in NY rush hour. Everyone thought i was crazy for doing so😂. @James Langford I've owned an M6(S85), AMG 507 ed, and a Dinan and this is easily the most fun I've had in a car. It's amazing. SO much character, so much fun, it is a fantastic car. Ford outdid themselves. And driving manual is another dimension to the experience.

I also put in a better speaker/sound system since the factory ones are about as good as clock radio speakers. I road trip it all the time and it's amazing. The only thing you have to keep track of because it is a serious engine it likes to drink oil, so every month or roughly 500 miles I top it off. But that's easy.
Far easier and less expensive than zee germans which are apparently made of Infinity Stones according to the dealerships.

The 2018-19 GTs seem to allow you to roll forward while In first gear when you take your foot off the clutch and not giving the car any throttle. I've seen a few videos on that.. I guess it's a way to make driving a manual easier. Does the GT350 have that feature?? Because if it does that would be awesome.

You don't need to press the clutch in to brake. However when coming to a full stop you need to push the clutch in so the car doesn't stall or if your RPM drops below 1K you would need to either downshift or push the clutch in. If your going to move immediately after stopping, (Stop Sign, Right hand turn on red) you could just leave it in first gear with the clutch pushed in and brake engaged. This way when you need to move again you just engage 1st and move off. If your coming to a red light take the car out of gear which is considered neutral so you dont need to keep the clutch pushed in the whole time. Its alot easier then it sounds.
