Great convo and so many fine points discussed here. Question: I am contemplating buying an xuv700 AX7L Petrol AT and plan to drive it in Bangalore. City use may be 300 too 400 kms a month and highway about 450 a month. Will the Petrol automatic be a really bad choice given its a gas guzzler? I mean what is the expected mileage in city traffic? Thanks.
Thank you! Depends on your drive cycle, but realistically in peak hour traffic, you will be looking at 7-8kmpl, maybe 9-10kmpl if you have slightly better flowing city traffic (based on our experience and owners we've heard from in different cities). Highway should be in the territory of 12kmpl. So whether or not it's the right choice depends on how much you're ok with spending on fuel every month
Thanks! So any other 7 seater that I am looking at i.e. petrol as my usage is not much and since diesel has its own niggles plus less refinement as compared to petrol, do you agree that petrol might be best if the daily run isn't too much? Also what are my other options in petrol vis a vis xuv in petrol as in how much extra mileage would the nearest 7 str AT automatic offer?
Both are awesome Utility vehicles. They are actually products to be very proud off as an Indian. Providing world class safety, features and looks. Maybe the performance or Fit and Finish might not be able to match up with roboticly manufactured German cars that have super narrow tolerances for errors but Indian Industry catching upto this level is phenomenal. Within a decade we might surpass or breakeven the manufacturing quality of german cars without increasing too much of complexities. Also, local manufacturers need to enhance the aftersale services, since this has a huge potential in continuously making the customer feel bad for choosing thw product and associating oneself with the company. We also need to stop this racist behavior of believing that Jeep, or VAG are better or high class (this includes Toyota too) and support our local manufacturers.
so, Tata's are not very well known on the quality of fit & finish of things at large is what I have heard on the internet. There was a mention on wait time of innova and no top models available, so the maruti badged invicto steps in there for that purpose and giving a lower price too
But will you pay 30 lacs for a maruti? I won't. I'd rather get the hycross for 35 lacs. The maruti brand is not strong enough to command such a price, even though they have the BEST after sales network, even better than Toyota.

We are comparing vehicles available at similar price points. You may not compare them because you consider them as different vehicle categories but most people buy cars based on what meets their requirements with how much they can spend. The XUV700 has the option of all wheel drive, but save for those specific variants, it's a monocoque front wheel drive car like the others

In terms of service quality and reliability 1. Hycross 2. Xuv700 3. Safari Both Tata and Mahindra need to improve their service and product quality. We have shown our love to Indian car makers, now it’s time for them to work on their quality and customer service.
Tata Safari anytime.. but where the #ToyotaInnova surpasses is the service, 3rd row seating & service guys experience. If #Tata just improves its service part then no one would look for anything else.
We are family of 4 adults and 2 kids and you think how much luggage do we need to take for a trip. But neither xuv nor harrier has boot space to accommodate luggage for even 1 day for 6 members..! Its Hycross which has good boot space! Also there is nothing can be done if we choose captain seats in Xuv or safari bcoz anyway last row seat have to be folded to keep luggage in both xuv and safari and thats they both become a 4 seater now🥲 max 5 persons with 1 folded seat and moreover 1 person have to sit alone at 3rd row with luggage in near folded seat.. werin Hycross all 6 persons can comfortably sit along with good amount of luggage!! Thus we chose hycross for our 6 member family!! And i guess even Hycross average interior quality can withstand on par with xuv and safari as while test driving i noticed two buckles in seat came off in safari in new car. Moreover while resale value after 10 years Hycross sure will sell 10 lacks more than xuv and safari does so Verdict Investing now on Hycross is worth it!! What do you say ?!!
You raise some very valid points. And this is why we don’t declare one car as the “winner” because that depends entirely on the owner’s use case. The Hycross is the best fit for your specific requirements and you are correct to consider it the best pick for those reasons. Similarly, many people buy these big cars but mainly because they want a car that’s large, has strong road presence, premium quality, features or performance where a different option would fit the bill better.
Those who tell that the innovas outlast all the other cars.. are you a damn taxi driver? Who even drives the same car for lakhs and lakhs of kms bro..are you are poor to not afford an upgrade? Just get the xuv enjoy the power and other features till it last and sell it! Get a new recent car! That’s a wayy better strategy than buying one boring car and driving lakhs of kms on the same thing
No other cars comparisons to Toyota in terms of built quality and reliability. I have had bad experiences with Tata and Mahidra and their services as well. I hope they improvise their services to customers and be more professional in executing trust to their customers
If i am buying a big car for my family i want it to be comfortable reliable spacious luggage space…gud on average for gimmics i will buy a sedan or small suv
Hi. It's a wonderful comparison video, answering almost every aspect needed. I would like to know the comparison in the headlight throw quality. Which car gives better visibility at night on highways and if possible in rainy conditions. Headlight throw has been an issue with new LED system in almost all top end cars of all manufacturers. I own a kia seltos GT line, planning to upgrade to either of the above compared cars. I would like to get your verdict over my question if possible, be it in comment reply or on a video comparison. Thanks and regards.
I agree with the point about the Toyota having the worst infotainment system. It is the same case with the Fortuner, the infotainment screen and especially how the front tweeters are mounted, it looks like it is some cheap aftermarket system fitted from Karol Bagh. The infotainment is not intuitive, ut is laggy and the sound quality is horrendous despite supposedly having a sound system tuned by JBL. This is very sad because a lot of Toyotas sold abroad have great systems. P.S. I know a lot of toyota fanboy sheeps will swarm under this comment to ridicule it (while owning a second hand maruti dzire). For those people, all I have to say is, use your brain for once, and you'll know what I'm saying about the infotainment system is true.
All of these opinion fails when comes to family... I bought the safari... Rear ventilation seat are just... Boom plus that looks.... Soooo good.... That no body can say it's looking ugly.... And power doesn't matter as with family we travel between 80-90 km/hr and everyone knows... 😄😄
Automatic in all 7str version of the 3 cars start frm 19Lkhs ex-showroom. in that case of same price point, do you want to compare Tata, Mahindra to a Toyota ? Something is seriously wrong with these people.. And the Innova Crysta is there for everyone, why would they go for a Mahindra actual 5str ? Toyota goes minimum 3Lkhs mileage with proven reliability.
The quality finish in safari is the worst. The glitch in the infotainment system and digital driver display and even the alignment of panels in steering is not proper. The after sales service is poor as they don't have trained technicians. The reliability of safari is doubtful compared to hycross

Tata Safari anytime.. but where the #ToyotaInnova surpasses is the service, 3rd row seating & service guys experience. If #Tata just improves its service part then no one would look for anything else.
Now the price onroad of all top end model xuv700 is 30 l,,safari 35 l,innova 40 l,,xuv700 is top selling out of all
4x4 nai chahiye. For 5people. Kaunsi leni chahiye. ??
Xuv 700 hands down
Those who tell that the innovas outlast all the other cars.. are you a damn taxi driver? Who even drives the same car for lakhs and lakhs of kms bro..are you are poor to not afford an upgrade? Just get the xuv enjoy the power and other features till it last and sell it! Get a new recent car! That’s a wayy better strategy than buying one boring car and driving lakhs of kms on the same thing
No other cars comparisons to Toyota in terms of built quality and reliability. I have had bad experiences with Tata and Mahidra and their services as well. I hope they improvise their services to customers and be more professional in executing trust to their customers
Yea I also
Great content and conversation. Better than many first drive reviews. Digs deep into each feature and aspect of the vehicles. ❤
I think our guys like Innova from starting to end
You missed out a comparison of the headlights. It is an aircraft versus a car versus a candle. No prizes for guessing which is what...
Hycross for me and my future child 🙏
Now the only thing on which Tata seriously need to work is Reliability and after sale service. People need peace of mind after spending 30+ lacs.
Safari is best❤
Yeh hyrader kaha compare ker li......... Yeh muv type hai na ki suv
If i am buying a big car for my family i want it to be comfortable reliable spacious luggage space…gud on average for gimmics i will buy a sedan or small suv
MotorInc Compitetor is here
No chance
I feel the day XUV700 launched, Safari got killed. Also Harrier
Xuv 700❤
Xuv has better light throw among all while hycross being the poorest in throw
How can you not recommend Xuv 700 is for its ride quality and power 😂😂
Safari any day.
New Hycross looks like a 2nd hand vehicle from inside
Should have included crysta 😢
Service always and still a big NO for tata, nah nah with Mahindra, and good to go with Toyota😢
Safari going to rule in 2024
safari's old model is superb but now Safari facelift looks like a toy car🤣🤣🤣
