Today we're going to do a little comparison between PS5/Xbox Dead By Daylight and the PC version so everyone can get an idea of just how cheeks it is and in desperate need of an update

UPDATE: I tested this on 2 different Series X consoles, Xbox One X, and PS4 Pro. I didn't check PS5 or Switch. It looks like it's primarily an issue with having the DLC's downloaded on Xbox that causes the issue and since I have every DLC it's very slow. Maybe uninstalling the DLC's will help you if you're having issues. Unfortunately I can't because of home share issues. The og Xbox One and PS4 run horrifically in-game, especially against killers like Doctor where the frame drops are egregious.
It's been interesting reading the comments and seeing all the weird different issues players have with the different versions of the game. Hopefully BHVR is willing to treat the entire game like the store and optimize that shiz.

I didn't buy any dlc, only bought the characters via the game itself. On my series X it takes like 50 seconds to load into the main menu
When I click on killer or suvivor I go into the menu instantly. It takes like 10 seconds for me to go back into the killer/survivor lobby after a match ends

After the 5th anniversary on last gen you would freeze any time a gen was completed or something happened
I remember for like the first month or two after nemesis came out, whenever he hit me it would freeze my whole game. So I'd get hit, freeze, get hit again because I was standing still, then get hooked. Made the whole game unplayable until it was fixed
YESSS I REMEMBER. And not a single DBD streamer talked about it. If Otz knew what it was like at the time, I think he would've released a 4 hour video scolding the devs especially since the freezing lasted for at least 9 months.

Managing to get to P100 Trapper on Switch was an exercise in insanity, and yeah. The difference is staggering. I can't afford to get a good gaming PC to play on the better version, so this is what I'm stuck with.
Don't need a good PC to play dbd. A 100 pound gpu will run the game fine.

Maybe if you allocate more time into making money instead of wasting time grinding on the worst version of Dead by Daylight then you might be able to afford a gaming PC.
Huge advice. Delete all of the DLC you have installed on the Xbox version of the game. Once you've initially installed the dlc, you should delete it. You will keep the content but it won't have to load every single DLC pack every time you load the game. Trust me it works

I play the PS4 version of the game on my PS5, didn't want to start over on trophies, and it doesn't take anywhere near that to load into the main menu. I just timed it and it took 53 seconds from launching the game to getting to the main menu. So either the Xbox version is that much worse or there is something wrong with your Xbox.
Just did the same with my ps5 version of dbd I think the xbox port has been fucked over

I can confirm it doesnt take that long for me on PS5 either. The loads between it and the PC I have are right around his PC mark at 40s.

I play on ps5 and the game is running so much better, than the xbox version u showed. Running almost perfectly.
My biggest complain is the fact, there is still no mouse and keyboard support or better options for the analog sticks after so much years... The devs have clearly no idea how detrimental to not have these things if u want to play a certain killer.

Yeah, this isn't a console issue, Choy. It's an Xbox issue specifically. PS4 and PS5 don't even take that long to load.
This isn’t even a console issue, it’s a him issue. I’ve played on Xbox dbd for years. Never had to wait like this.
The console ports for dead by daylight are so terrible, and it's literally a whole different game compared to PC... The FPS drops, and it stutters so much. And if a killer has a teleport ability it stutters and the FPS drops so bad, and don't get me started on the Xbox One and PS4 ports they are so bad do not buy them.
I literally have no issue with FPS or freezing, etc. This has to be a hardware issue for you, maybe you're not keeping your equipment cleaned and up to standard? Maybe poor internet service. Idk.

Exactly! DBD on Old Gen is a dead waste of space. Thing is - before New Gen - it took 'em years to fix FPS drops on PS4 and XBOX. (And it's still bad) And after the latest engine update, it somehow manages to drop frame mid game, I'm not even talking about some maps.

I dont think this is personally an issue of "pc better" but an issue of the devs. I learned recently that from an AMA they had, one of the devs stated that they are not investing time into fixing the game up (i assume this means load times, certain hit boxes, ect) for the foreseeable future. And thats really crazy to me. But thats just my input on the topic, whether true or not.
Don't even get me started on the poor controller inputs and support for DbD either, granted I play on PC but I use an XBox controller due to RSI and Carpal tunnel in my right hand/wrist. A lot of killers are just too difficult to play with a controller (the ones that come to my mind are Huntress, Slinger and Trickster, but there are a few more), not impossible, but incredibly difficult. I just want there to be better support for these killers, because it makes it incredibly difficult to play them due to controller jank.
I’m on Xbox 1. My advice? When trying to start the game or select a role, have a RUclips video ready.

You can use wide prospective but only on series s/x or ps5 in the fov option, not sure if older gens can take it tho.
Dude I think there’s something wrong with your Xbox or save file. It only takes 1 minute for me. Maybe you should redownload or try something to fix that issue??
By the way I do agree it needs to be optimized better. And since the recent updates I’ve noticed frame drops on certain maps but that could just be a UE5 issue that they’re gonna fix soon.

Same for me, I haven’t played in about a year so maybe it got worse over this time.
As a PC player who only turns on his xbox to play Dead and can't wait for cross progression I actually have an answer to reduce load times. Turns out during the wesker update if you have any DLC downloaded and I mean ANY DLC for Dead it causes the game to take forever (like the video shown) to load. However, if you delete all your dlc, and redownload the game without downloading ANY of the DLC the game runs faster about cutting the waiting times in half. Don't worry too you can still use all your DLC characters even if you don't have any DLC downloaded. Hope this helps. I did some FPS testing on console a few years ago so I understand the hate for console. So remember... delete everything and only download the game with NO DLC to fix these load times (still takes awhile about 40-50 seconds to load from start). I've been running Dead on Xbox with decent load times since.

@@Bleeglesplotch Honestly I have no idea. But I've been running DLC-less for over a year now. As long as you bought your items you DON'T have to have them downloaded to access them.
@@RKosmik I just don't see how that possible so I'm not deleting the DLC files just to have to try and track them down again afterwards if that doesn't work. As a matter of fact, I remember playing one time after moving my game from my hard drive to an external hard drive and one of my DLC's didn't get checked on the move and it was left out (The Knight DLC) and I didn't have the Knight when I loaded up.
@@Bleeglesplotch You press the menu button (start) on Dead to access all your DLC so you don't have to go to the store to find it one at a time (under "Mange game and addons). I'm not sure what to say but the only reason I found a fix for these loading time bug was reddit. There was a post saying the DLC caused an issue with load times. Been playing the game daily with no DLC downloaded. Been playing all my characters and perks and what not. I could provide a video if needed.

I don't have these long load times on series X. Before I upgraded I uninstalled all my DLC and it made booting up on One X a thousand times faster.

My main is on my pc and I have it on my series s that I keep at my gfs house. I've never seen load times like that. I'm confused, outside of that the port isn't great. Great videos! Much love from Canada
I play on a laptop with an integrated 4GB Radeon GPU, for which the last driver was released in 2018 , and a USB hub to connect my keyboard and mouse, along with an HDMI hooked up to a 60hz monitor and a potato wifi connection, it takes me about 1 minute to load up the game, the Xbox loading time is crazy
BHVR has stated that they do not focus on the console versions.
Their primary focus is on PC.
Supposedly, they're another team that does console but not the main group that does PC updates.
Console, specifically XBox, is also why the fog and lighting in the game was nerfed so much way back when - to the point that what was once a pretty important, fun, and dynamic system is now just the same drab fill-lights and ambient fill with baked in shadow loops.

That loading Time was baby shit. I still, after multiple dbd support tickets and 2 years am experiencing constant errors in bloodweb, booting up screen and many More and ive literally sat in The boot up screen For 40 mins straight

Thank you for making this video, since Vecnas release some maps have been literally unplayable. If I go to main on certain maps my fps literally drops to SINGLE DIGITS. This is just like the Nemesis debacle that happened years ago, idk how BHVR always manages to fuck up console updates.

Hey fam, I play PC and on xbox series x and just tested my xbox. It took 52 seconds to load in from the start image, and got the killer selection page at 1.01. And this was this the new update, a second test and it loaded in 48 secs, and got to killer at 58 secs. I think something is wrong with your xbox, or your internet connection, check to see if your NAT type regularly switches to moderate. I'm sorry it seems to be this unoptimized for you.
I will say though, the audio problem is pretty real, nowadays on the series X it seems the same as my PC, and I use the same headset for both.
But if you try the switch version, oh my god its terrible. At the same time, it impresses me that a phone CPU and GPU (yes the switch has the same power as a phone), can run it at all. That being said, its a live service game, and the state that it is in, is unplayable, and steps need to be taken to address the gap between versions.

It didnt used to be this bad on Xbox but for some odd reason a patch sometime last year caused this poor optimization and immense loading times. I was thinking about upgrading to the series x from my s but glad to see i won't need to since the loading times will be exactly the same
For me, I find it takes longer for my PlayStation 5 to load DBD if I haven’t played it in a while. If I play it consistently it loads pretty quick.
This makes me appreciate how well the menus work on the switch. The game? Runs questionably. The menus? Silky smooth compared to this.
FINALLY someone addresses the loading times. I play on Xbox One and it takes even longer to boot up the game, but what really gets me is the store page. There have been multiple times that I thought my game crashed because of how long it takes to switch between pages, like what the hell, does literally every skin and outfit have to individually load whenever you go to the characters page???
They desperately need to optimize all versions. My pc is decent and barely pulls 90 fps on the lowest graphical settings.

All the more reason they need to get the cross progression in either next month or August at the latest they said this summer. I just bought a good a** pc just waiting to carry over my stuff

last gen xbox player, i main huntress (yes on controller) and half the maps are terrible for fps which fuck with my aim, the load times are astonishingly slow compared to pc (no cross progression and all my shit is on xbox) and even when i play survivor i have to look at the sky to hit skillchecks

As a switch player as well, I can't believe the switch is faster than Xbox. I tested this as well and got 1 minute and 50 seconds as a median.

I used to play DbD on a 13yo CPU, loading times were almost the same. The difference was in FPS dips during gameplay, making some skillchecks impossible as well as reacting to killer/survivor during chase. And overall ~40 fps on best days. Loading times were almost the same as on my new one though which is what kind of shocked me. 40-50 seconds of a loading screen on start with good hardware is pathetic. And that's *after* fiddling with game files to disable cutscenes. And even after all of that, you can't even leave it to load while you're making coffee or what not, as it only loads half the files, then waits for an input before loading the other half 🥱

I never realised it was that horrific on Xbox. Compared times just now on PS5 and it was nearly same as PC. Also no massive delays on switching killers etc.
I play dbs on console (Xbox Series S) and the Start time is Around 20-45 Seconds, I also have a wired connection I have tested both multiple times with and without wireless so maybe you don't have the most optimal setup for Xbox, but for me it's completely fine.

I play DBD on a gaming laptop, it was like $700 I’d guess, it was a Christmas gift. I load DBD just as quickly as you do in the video. Before that I played console, old gen ps4 specifically. I wouldn’t even touch killer because most killers were unplayable, throw a hatchet as huntress huge FPS drop, blink as nurse huge FPS drop, there were other powers that did the same thing while others didn’t do it at all. For example trapper placing a trap never dropped my FPS playing on either side. But playing as huntress/nurse/blight/trickster using your power would significantly lower FPS almost every time you used it. As I said I switched to PC so that’s how I’ve dealt with the problem, but it sucks to hear the problems haven’t gotten much better by the sounds of it. I expected the new consoles to load it way quicker than that.
Fun story that happened to me: I was playing dbd on PS4. I was playing Billy in the anniversary mode for the first time in 3 months. Played against a team of sweat lords. One of them told me “Gg ez noob you’re trash at this game”. I wrote: “Ggs, love yourself and be more self-confident”. I got several more insults thrown at me and got temporarily banned for “Violating Ps network Rules” Now I can’t play for 7+ DAYS and this happened because the Person who TRASHTALKED me reported me from 5 accounts. 🎉🎉🎉 Ps Customer support never makes mistakes (Their only mistake is FUCKING EXISTING)
I always wondered why it took so long JUST to get to the main menu on my Xbox series X and then doing anything in the menu takes forever. I’ll also get frame drops randomly while repairing gens making the first skill check zone a pain. And for the last month or so, walking through corn makes the game stutter. I’m glad somebody is talking about this finally.
UPDATE: Xbox Series X here! I just tested this myself. It took 1:15 to get to the main menu and only another 15 seconds to get to the Killer screen to play. Frankly over a minute is a little much to get to playing. Really not a huge deal IMO. Some big games take WAY longer than this to get in to. But there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with something on your end. This is a very typical load time for me.
NOTE: I do have pretty good connection and speed. Gigabit internet. I’m not sure if that’s a factor your case.

While I was still playing dbd and doing content, I talked about optimisation being dogshit with new game engine coming (despite myself being in a 4070 Ti PC), but learned quickly that my share of community at least mostly thinks that optimisation is for the poor.
Now THAT was a discovery to make.
I use an Xbox Series S and I have it connected to my router with an ethernet cable with "Gigablast" speed. Took me 1:58.466 to get to the lobby and 17s to killer lobby
lmao i have a 20$ ssd in my pc with a cpu from 2016, game takes abt 40-50 sec to load, this is purely the optimization, the series x is THE strongest console by hardware and absolutely destroys my pc in terms of specs.
Played DBD since 2017, first on OG Xbox, switched to Xbox One X and since 2 years on XSX. The main difference between them 3 was def the framerate. And even i play on an 120hz/4k LG OLED TV with XSX now, the game isn't even close to at least stable 60fps on both sides. On the MOST POWERFUL CONSOLE (on paper), btw. Remember when they promised stable 60fps for the old console gen and it never happend? Def a optimisation issue up to this day, they seem to just not care. At all.
Also something went terrible wrong since the UE Engine Update 2 months ago. On certain maps and certain loacations there's horrible rubberbanding / stutter / lags. Feels like getting sucked into invisible objects. I know this affected all plattforms so BHVR did a patch. But at least on XSX (and i heard PS5 aswell), it even got worse. If you're on XSX, just play surv, bring a farm offering and run arround some objects. It's unplayable and i'm on a break since 2 months because of this. Well, maybe that's a good thing...

I play Dbd on Xbox One and the load time does take a while but nowhere near how long yours took, so it may not be a Dbd related thing but I do still agree that it’s crazy how long it takes😭

Takes roughly the same amount of time to get in to the game on PS5.
They definitely know about the console issues, there was an enormous forum thread about them some time ago, with multiple contributors giving video clips and trying to help the devs identify potential causes; this had more comments than the entire bugs and issues forum put together, which they largely seem to ignore console complaints about poor performance.
My frames have been brutal since the Vecna update on my series X. Get frame drops whenever entering a building.

Dbd is usually twice as hard on console. I have over 1.6k hours on ps4 dbd, but when I tried out how easy pc is, I was just straight up mind blown by the insane difference

Okay, stutters in shop and loadout screen is real, but regarding loading times: your xbox is cursed (while I play on PS5, many people here also pointed out this and they are also on Xbox Series X)

Reminds me of the fact that way back a few years ago, my old laptop that didn't even meet minimum requirements for dbd could still load the game faster than a console.
Tested dbd on a PC with a 750ti, it ran fine
I will say that the PS4 pro version of the game runs at 1080, 30-60 FPS (mostly hovering around 40, but it goes 30 during events like anniversary)
I actually find this very playable as I’m using a keyboard and mouse converter so I can play killer with a mouse. I’m waiting for cross progression before I make a transition to another platform, but suprisingly the PS4 pro version runs good. I can attest this as a 8 year player whose played on literally all platforms, ranging from 144hz to Nintendo switch 13 fps lol

I only play DBD on console (Xbox series X) and I have never had really bad graphics, load times, or even problems hearing directional sound.
I am curious as to how people are struggling with these things?
For reference, a friend I know has to wait minutes for his PC to calculate stuff during the start up of the game. Meanwhile, my girlfriend and I are already waiting in a lobby. Everyone started the game at the same time.

I only play dbd on console and sometimes it boots up faster depending on if an event is going on or not and I didn't even know that pc can hear directional footsteps better than console even though console has the option to change to headset in the audio settings... now I know why playing as spirit was so off 😂
Idk on my Xbox series s the load times have gotten significantly better since unreal engine five so other than the quality downgrades it’s not that bad
I was legit doing my start up on on ps4 side by side with yours and I got in half your time. It truly seems like a poorly xbox patch. Anyone else on playstation can confirm
Ps is faster, but certain updates at first have messed with our loading into survivor or killer lobbies before, but it was patched. Console deserves better regardless. We cannot even move our characters as freely as pc players lol 😂 a keyboard and mouse option woukd be nice dbd
@@Petartheterrorgaming I have been playing DBD on PS4 since it was on a free weekend and then got added to the PS+ lineup (around plague's release?) I have seen it's pretty awful patches. First resident evil chapter was the worst offender. RPD would crash the game. Any DH, gen completion, hooking caused freezes consistently.
Man I took your word and booted up DbD on switch and it turned on in a minute. There is no issue with picking the side either, it just goes int othe select menu quickly.
Now granted, Switch is it's own can of worms of "who at BHVR thought selling this was a good idea" ranging from skill checks being downright delayed on the input and constant frame drops, even on the menus.
I recall playing DBD on my PS4 before moving over to the PC. The fire spark loading screen immedately sent the fan into it's loud spin...
Perhaps BHVR will look at GTA 6 which will be better optimised on release but will be interesting as GTA 5 (like DBD) has so much content.
Lmao, how you upgrade hardware but still have bad optimization? I play on mobile where it only takes 15-20 seconds to start up and 2 seconds to switch sides (IPhone 14). For the love of god plz switch to pc only when cross progression comes.
Im a ps4 player and i swear they need to add a lower graphics option or something because i literally play at like 30 to 50 fps max. Not to mention the crashes, the horrible aim assist on killer which makes you wiff attacks more often then it makes you hit them and so many more problems. I wish i could keep playing but like, with recent updates things are only getting worse. The more complicated the killer, the worse it plays. Playing against trapper on ps4 is literally a whole different game from playing against singularity
Im sure its because they haven't done a series x native version of the game, and they are still using the xbox one version via backwards compatibility
