I actually really enjoyed force-yanking the E-11 from the hands of the first stormtrooper outside the cell and emptying it in his face. Then again I enjoyed using guns for a lot of the other gameplay, so I must be weird.
Talking about Dark Souls: surprised not to see any mention of the "humble" club from DS1. Officially just a piece of wood, it deals a silly amount of damage and scale great with your strength. You can easily use no other weapon in the whole game.
The longsword may not scale as good, but it's versatile moveset, still more than decent damage, speed and low requirements makes it into one of the best weapons in the game, if you ask me. In every Dark Souls, I mean.
The pistol being so good in Halo is hilarious to me because it wasn't supposed to be that good. One of the devs secretly cranked its damage way just before it went gold.
This is a myth. The magnum was buffed right before the game went gold, but the Dev team knew they were buffing it, and had in fact been struggling to have the pistol find it's place in the sandbox for months. Everything related to it is intentional. Also the pistol's damage isn't what makes it a good gun, but rather the precision insta kill modifier on it, which was 100% intentional, and was there well before any damage buffs.
"There's a sniper on the roof." "I'm-a tase that guy." "He's got a rocket launcher." "I'm-a tase that guy." "They've got hostages." "I'm-a tase that guy." Glorious.

The Hunters Axe from Bloodborne was quite handy. You can choose it at the beginning of the game and it has great area sweeping attacks when fully extended
To be fair with Dark Souls all of the starter weapons are viable throughout your whole run as long as you reinforce and infuse them throughout your playthrough. Sellswords are a lot of fun though.
10:59 You're supposed to ASK your fellow grunts for extra ammo Ellen- not shoot them in the back like some common rogue! Seriously, I think you've been playing too many sneaky sneaky, stabby stabby games lately....
Asking takes too long. My preferred “asking” technique is to run them over with a vehicle. Then I am just a bad driver and not an insubordinate homicidal maniac.
Another point in favor of the M6D Magnum from Halo - The super fast melee speed. I clubbed more enemy troops with that pistol than with any other weapon - and not just sleeping grunts.
Late to the comments, but has anyone mentioned the best default weapon ever in a game was the plastic bag in “Manhunt”! It was so cool to always being able to smother your enemies if you ran out of ammo!
It's so funny they mentioned the wrench: with a few minor upgrades the wrench is actually headscratchingly OP. You haven't lived till you freeze a big daddy and then casually bash his face in and watch his health chunk down
@2:14 "crushing yourself to death by accident" Yup that sounds about right. Jedi academy the game that taught me the importance standing at the right place, along with looking up when going up
Ummm excuse me ☝️ the best starting weapon in Dark Souls is the Broken Straight Sword. It’s literally a broken sword. And you can throw upgrades at it! Also at +10, you can upgrade it to Greatsword of Antorias. Literally one of the most awesome weapons out there for Dark Souls.
In 2 it was a monster in its own right, especially before patches when dual wielding them could infinitely stunlock players (thanks to a stamina cost SO LOW that it would regen between swings). And to clarify, they didn't get nerfed, players just got infinite poise for a second after getting hit 3 times in succession, allowing them to roll out of combos.
That's not so much the starters being level one nukes as the xp system getting borked if you don't try to spread it across six mons. You can beat the game with Rattata or Caterpie if you keep a ten level advantage over the enemies, and if you never switch Pokemon, that's exactly what happens by the second gym.
Knight class level up dexterity and get the uchigatana broseff this guy wasn't too good was he lmao I'm a little salty because I always start with this class lol
That taser in Syphon Filter was the best! Worked on every enemy except the ones wearing Flak Jackets but it could also work on them if you manually aim and headshot them with the taser.
i can attest that the magnum is perfect for dealing with covenant enemies, but with it's low fire rate, I don't recommend using it against the flood, especially the tiny swarm variants
I have an idea for a video: x times games made fun of/f**ked up player 2. like enter the gungeon where not a single npc wants to talk to the cultist (aka player 2) and say that they only want to talk to the "protagonist". it was so bad that the cultist used the bullet that can kill the past to try to kill player 1.
Not so much the game itself but if you used the cheatsystem for the Nes with the Super Mario Bros games you could add tons of stuff for Mario but almost nothing for Luigi
I remember in Portal 2 Co-Op with my friend, there was one segment where one player presses buttons to manipulate a course and allow the 2nd player to progress through it. I messed up and accidentally killed him, then GLaDOS gave me points for "Teaching my partner a valuable lesson in trust". Later on in another course, my friend killed me in retaliation and GLaDOS deducted points from him for "Damaging valuable Aperture Science resources".
I remember playing FF9, and there was a castle in the late game that had a reverse of physical damage.. basically meaning the starter dagger for example, became OP.. good times.
@@darkdestructer no no no....not buying the mother freaking octagon rod on your first playthrough figuring to find it later or come back later for it........
Maybe they've decided they didn't need or want you for a protagonist after all(after all that reckless swinging and such), I mean who could possibly be as cool as Luke, or better yet Darth Vader himself, you gotta admit that pretty tough to beat
Fun fact with the M6D Magnum. It employs 12.7×40mm SAP-HE (semi-armor-piercing, high-explosive) ammunition. If you shoot it at a wall you'll see a tiny explosion just after the round hits.
That's not true at all. It wasn't powerful in any way. It was just the lowest tier of auto rifle with no perks. It did it's job but was immediately replaced once you got something even slightly better. The reason they made it into an exotic is because of how iconic it was. It's the first weapon everyone ever used. They made it an exotic to celebrate the game.
There's a now-dead game that I used to play called Moon Breakers, and one of the starter ships you could get, called the F-3 Mamba, was one of the best ships in the game. It's main gun was quite well balanced, and could do a pretty decent sustained barrage. The missile, even though it was unguided, also hit fairly hard as well, and was useful for taking out enemy missiles with it's remote detonation (We called it ret-det for short) ability. But where the Mamba shined the most, was in it's mobility. It could pivot around itself and any obstacles like the snake it was named after, and with the proper rhythm, it had an effectively infinite boost tank. Most commonly, I would use the ship in CTF matches, and I would be able to essentially negate the speed reduction that the 'flag' would cause. It was also really good at destroying enemy turrets on the enemy carrier, which would allow bombers to have a much easier time in Carrier Assault matches. And for the pvp fights of the third match type, where the objective is to kill as many players as you could? The Mamba could dodge through some really heavy crossfire.
if you look closely there actually IS one of those sith idiots hiding in the bush. why? presumably because he's a sith idiot, they can't all be evil geniuses, right?
The socom in Metal Gear Solid is the only silent weapon you can get (though you need to pick up the suppressor separately, but it’s not far off), and is thus useful throughout.
Perhaps technically not a start weapon, but the crowbar in Halflife is iconic, and so satisfying to swish the heck out of anything that stands in Gordon's path.
The Service Weapon from "Control" can meet pretty much all of your firearm-based needs, considering that every weapon in the game is just another form it takes, but even in its most basic pistol configuration the damage output on this thing is positively ludicrous with proper aim.
Dymlos from Tales of Destiny. This sentient sword not only levels up with you, but learns magic, meaning if you choose to use any other weapon, you will no longer be able to learn or cast spells until you realize your error and re-equip your snarky sword pall (same for all other Swordian users).

I found it useful to shoot at him with Charge, which he would normally dodge, so then I'd use Launch to grab the Charge missile from mid-air and throw it at Tomassi again, and that would normally hit him.

The game also has mechs and guns and some guy as a protagonist, but the magnet gun is the star of the show.

In Helen’s Mysterious Castle the starting bow can easily be used till the end of the game. But the second weapon, The Sword, is the secret powerhouse of the game, having mediocre stats until you level it up to max and it gets a sudden power boost.
I believe one of the code writers for Halo was due to be fired or was fired near the end of development and the pistol being OP was his “f*** you” statement.
I was looking for a comment like this! But then again, they're creatures, not weapons, so I don't know how far one would need to stretch the definition of weapon
Also is Mass Effecct 3 there’s a wepone with a shield on the front I don’t know the name of the weapon but that thing takes out Banshees, and Brutes in just a few shot. While other weapons will take all or a lot of your ammo on those units.i can’t for the life of me remember the name of it but I can tell you it is the best gun in the game. However you might have to have a DLC installed to get it I’m not sure.
How about warp though? It's good for all difficulty levels and is ESSENTIAL if you're playing in Insanity. It rips through barriers and armor and does minor damage to shields, plus it's got pretty decent damage on unprotected enemies and if you mix it with a singularity then the effects will be devastating. Plus it can be effectively used against Banshees, Brutes and Harvesters. Try to use charge on one of those, and you're basically guaranteed to die.

I actually really enjoyed force-yanking the E-11 from the hands of the first stormtrooper outside the cell and emptying it in his face. Then again I enjoyed using guns for a lot of the other gameplay, so I must be weird.
This is the first time I've seen Syphon Filter featured on a list, great game and one of the most unforgettably cruel weapons
Talking about Dark Souls: surprised not to see any mention of the "humble" club from DS1. Officially just a piece of wood, it deals a silly amount of damage and scale great with your strength. You can easily use no other weapon in the whole game.
How u think i felt when a blummin mace is stronger than a 8 foot long sword m8, let alone what is basically a big stick
Tell me where it is
The longsword may not scale as good, but it's versatile moveset, still more than decent damage, speed and low requirements makes it into one of the best weapons in the game, if you ask me.
In every Dark Souls, I mean.
@@lenlimbo I know, but a longsword is sort of expected to be a decent weapon, while the club is crazy good for being just a chunk of wood :-)
@@jacopobertolotti5025 True that.
The pistol being so good in Halo is hilarious to me because it wasn't supposed to be that good. One of the devs secretly cranked its damage way just before it went gold.
And then artist Kiki put the Kanji for Power on the bottom of the magazine.
The magnum is one of the most fun weapons I've ever had the pleasure of using
Good times
Bryan Wegner seriously though, it is insanely good, 1 shooting hunters. Right up their with the shotgun.
Pistols have pretty much always been weirdly powerful in Bungee games.

Yep, especially in DS3. You can easily beat the game with Knight class starting gear if you just keep upgrading it.

Can you even ask for ammo in Halo CE? I haven't played the anniversary, but I don't remember that being a feature...
You can trade weapons with the marines in future games, but in Halo CE the only way to get there guns was by prying them from their cold dead hands.

Second most fun melee was playing flood baseball with the rocket launcher. Time it on their jump just right and it was always satisfying.
Fun fact, it fires 50 cal rounds
I think you can pull up numbers for that. God bless the stat trackers provided by Bungie and 343.
I've actually heard of people using it as their only weapon.

Tails in Sonic 2, his death was inconsequential.

The Khovostov was such a good / powerful weapon in Destiny 1 that the Devs turned it into an exotic

The Gravity Gun is also the starter weapon in the HL2 episodes.
The Service Weapon from "Control" can meet pretty much all of your firearm-based needs, considering that every weapon in the game is just another form it takes, but even in its most basic pistol configuration the damage output on this thing is positively ludicrous with proper aim.
