Alright I noticed something odd. How come this 747-200 has an MD-11 style nav display in the center? Anyone know any information about this retrofit?
AMD Advisory Map Display. We had them fitted in the 90s quite useful. It made building a picture in your head about where you were a lot simpler than a mental model solely based on intersecting needles! Wasn’t a primary navigation reference though, just something nice to have! It’s the noise on takeoff I remember the most, the -400 was sterile in comparison! The 777 is as close as I can get to those days now and it still feels very modern even though it isn’t!
if the 747s are now discontinued we are losing 74 gear for sure and im not happy at ALL
