Hello do you have 1970s/1980s airline flights ,including inflight videos of passengers being served etc..
This was about four years after my trip to Thailand as a teenager. Back in the 90s, 747s flew *all over* Asia for certain, high traffic routes…Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok, etc. It was a fascinating time to be an aviation geek. The highlight of that trip for me was flying over the arctic region in a 747sp. That remains the aviation highlight of my life to this day.
When I was a kid, I flew to Europe on a 747 in 1976. Exactly how I remember the interior of the aircraft. I was able to keep the paper map they had posted with the route marked on it. Got to go up to the spiral steps to the 1st Class lounge and even visit the cockpit where one of the pilots gave me a souvenir set of wings. Definitely different times back then.
Wow exactly same experience for my sister and myself. They even took us on the lift to the galley below . Great memories .
Brings back memories when I was a flight attendant flying from Germany to Bangkok and Incheon.
I loved it!
And I miss the paper-charts.....😂
Very nice! Probably lots of good memories
@@justplanes Yes, indeed!
I will never forget them for the rest of my life.
Those JT9Ds just sound amazing.
Yeah!
Can we just admire the other classic in this video...The Casio Data Bank on the 1st officers wrist. Absolutely fitting on a -100!
We flew on a 741-1 from Luton (UK) to Perth (Australia) in 1974, via Tehran and Singapore. Went back on a 707. Difference was huge, but both planes were great in their own way.
Wow those were the days for sure!
Aircraft: Boeing 747-100
Registration: HS-UTD
History:
The aircraft was delivered to Japan Airlines in June 1975 as JA8128
to Japan Asia Airways in 1986 as JA8128
returned to Japan Airlines in 1998 as JA8128
to JALways in 2000 as JA8128
to Orient Thai Airlines in 2003 as HS-UTD
to One-Two-GO Airlines in 2005 as HS-UTD, leased from Orient Thai Airlines
withdrawn from use and stored in 2008
Wow, nice.I flew 767s with same company, very enjoyable flying
My first ever flight was on the One-Two-Go 747-100, back in 2007 flying from Hong Kong to Bangkok. I was just 5 years-old. ❤
It is still the most amazing jet in aviation history and the only Jumbo jet ever nothing can take the title of queen of the skies away not even the A380

The Lockheed L1011-500 gave her a run for her money. It's a special plane in its own way.
So amazing how big and beautiful this aircraft is. It’s like a flying city! 400 passengers! Windows all the way to the nose of the plane directly under the flight deck. Amazing!
Love all the analog instruments!! The 3 person flight deck was an added safety feature of 3 vs 2 in the cockpit!!
Not safety, just more automation and technology that made engineers redundant.
More automaton isn't always better. Especially when the SHTF.
ERAU 80 CFIA&I ret.
@@kristensorensen2219 I’d say historically it’s proven to be better considering most accidents involve pilot error and the accident rate has only gone down as technology improves. It’s all about reducing the workload on the pilot so they can concentrate on aviating, navigating and communicating. Of course there have been incidents like AF447 and the MAX crashes where technology was implemented without the proper training, but overall it’s proven to be safer. I still have a soft spot for old planes and their crews though so I understand the appeal
@@probableflaws3597 You're talking a totally different direction from Kristen. Kristen is saying that a third crew was a safety feature, while you're saying that automation made engineers redundant.
But is Kristen talking about automation? No, she's just saying a third crew is an added safety feature.
Its just like saying Coke is a soft drink, and you're replying that beer contains alcohol. Similar topic-drinks, but both do not match.
@@timngim583 I’m saying the automation that replaced the engineer made planes safer. Pretty simple concept, no metaphors about carbonated drinks needed.
I flew back in 2008 before she was taken out of service. We could take 569 pax in one class. She had a SUD & people confused her with the 747-300. Japan Airlines kept her in great condition.
Incredible! Footage of Orient Thai’s 747s are very rare nowadays.
its rare because they are already bankrupt lol.go check the wiki page of this airline
@@tonkla2911 Yes, I am fully aware that they went bankrupt, hence why I said that footage of their 747s is rare!
Bad experience on OX 747 lol
With delay and bad food
But chances on a 747 are rare now
Amazing, miss flying on the 747s..
Great Footage as always From Justplanes.
The plane with my favorite auto pilot disconnect alarm!
Love this video, Thanks JP.
Fantastic classic video JP! Your style of filming is great to follow!
Lots of thank again JP;)) Greetings from a happy fan......Betsy....
Incheon airport is just only 2 years old during that time after more than 10 years it is well known to be one of the best in the world.
Beautifully filmed and edited. Love the analog set up.
Old school for sure..things are much simpler these days.
3 member fully analog machine...amazing :)
Huge! Awesome landing and the plane is in excellent condition
Thanks a lot!
Oh wow the pilot voice is ssooo soothing, what lovely stewards and stewardesses so relaxed and not pushy like some are,it’s giving me confidence to fly again
He sounds Australian.
Flying is the greatest thing sir! The greatest thing!

Loving the smiley face fridge magnet holding the aircraft notes😄
:)
a wonderful film - thanks for uploading
This video is a gem!
So many 747s!!! Looks like a dream!😍😍😍
Classic beauty ❤️❤️
Wow 1975! I was just a kid, flying Pan Am from Tokyo to SFO to visit relatives. I remember was turbulence over Hawaii, but otherwise It was so much fun. My first big airplane.
Wow, Boeing 747-100 Classic 👍
You should have a Aviation Rewind playlist or series of all flights around early 2000's and earlier.
It was going to be amazing and ur was amazing thank you so much for sharing the beautiful video @ Just Planes 👍👍😀😀❤️❤️🌹🌹
It's gonna be amazing!
Love the Martinair 747-200!
Great vidéo! 👌🛫💙
This is very rare footage Orient Thai Boeing 747-100 Orient Thai start flying to many destination by 747 like Hong Kong,Seoul,Tokyo also in domestic Orient Thai use 747 fly to Phuket,Chang Mai 🇹🇭
Excellent crew!
My first flight as a kid was on the One-Two-Go Boeing 747-100 ❤
Great vid, thanks
Great to see some Orient Thai footage!
We should have more planes like this flying.
No, newer planes are safer to fly.
Agree
@@florian2927they really arent. Not that big of a difference, and old planes can and have been updated for a very long time.
@@dout0rm942 incorrect, and there are statistics to prove that
@@florian2927 statistics of what, accidents? You do realize those did not happen because planes were *worse*, dont you? Or unsafe? That is BS, things happened because of a series of factors, and not because planes were actually unsafe. From the 40s onward, planes were VERY safe. Of course, technology today has evolved a lot, but that doesn't make you can take every statistic for granted. You cannot use something as evidence if you do not analise the context.
What a beauty what a treat thanku so much love and god bless ..amazing video x
Must be a happy reminder for many.
Damn that 747 is older than my 1978 Cessna. That thing must be well taken care of to be flying regular flights.
This aircraft was retired in 2007, so your 1978 Cessna has actually been flying 14 years longer at this point. Albeit, jet airliners are pressurised and prop-Cessnas tend not to be…
First time I have hear 'sawadee ka' in a radio call!!! :-)
The Thai controllers are very friendly! They almost always offer a friendly sawadee ka on arrival and departure, even today. Excellent controllers too, very professional and competent.
Great memories!
Wow I will at watch the Full video
Back in the day if the pilot was super smooth.... the Flight Engineer would say, "Tilt lights", when the main trucks had initially touched down, and the pilot knew exact distance till main gear had transitioned.
What a video, my goodness!

Crazy old Bangkok Don Muang Airport with a golf course right on the airport ground. One hole even intersects the runway and have the red and green traffic lights so golfers don't hit the plane!! The golf course belongs to the Royal Thai Air Force who shared the airport ground with the international airport.
747 !!! le plus bel oiseau mécanique !
🇧🇷👍 aviação é muito top
Very Amejing flight and driving 👏🙏
Enjoyable watch this beautiful old girl flown by seasoned pros.
The famous Don Mueng gold course where a 747 was considered a hazard.
For us Avgeek novice fans, please share what that means?
@@brkitdwn Bangkok Don Mueang has a golf course between its two runways.
46 years old video. Good it is now shared. I like it.
The plane is from 1975. The video is from 2003.
Not many 747-400s about 46 years ago.
@@givenfirstnamefamilyfirstn3935 I would say no 747-400 are about 46 years old since the first -400 are delivered in 1989, 32 years ago
39:37 that approach was sooo slow 😱😱😱
It does look slow indeed
the eng

R.I.P Orient Thai
There is nothin like old school
สุดยอดครับ🇹🇭
Some of the ex B747 Thai Orient are now turn into Cafe in Thailand :( time sure have change 18yrs later :)
Wow, they rotated very near the end of the runway.
Yes indeed
I notice the term heavy isn't being used.
Why does there tail livery seem to look a lot like the British airways tail livery 🤔
Copyright strike incoming
INERTIAL REFERENCE SYSTEM ON THIS AIRCRAFT, TRULY EXPENSIVE.....BUT I JUST LOVE THE VID
Lot of these in Arizona being torn to bits by bulldozers. At least there are lots of cheap spare parts,
I liked seeing the old mechanical dials - of course they are LED screens now.
This was made in 2003?
That landing looks like slow motion haha
My thoughts exactly!
Possibly due to the zoom of the camera.
0:37 tail livery resembles British Airlines' haha
Very true
No lcd instrument display screens all analogue unlike the 800 whats digital the 100 needed 3 persons to fly it the 800 just two its amazing how far tech has come
Very rare 747 not many left flying
Interesting it didn't have a more modern interior. If you are going to fly them for years, why not update them as well?
100? Woow
Missed the old day😢
With some luck, there would be a video of thai’s queen as an air hostess back then.
I flew Orient Thai from BKK to Hong Kong 2 times. Are they still in business?
No. Bankrupt in 2018.
The instruments are still analog.
Missing the old day of Don Mueang airport (VTBD).
i have a question for just planes please :
I think this plane was previously owned by Lufthansa because the gray paint on the bottom is very similar to the one that Lufthansa puts on its planes
am i right ?
No. Before flying for Orient Thai, HS-UTD flew for Japan Airlines and two of its subsidiaries (Japan Asia Airways and JALWays) between 1975 and 2003 as JA8128. She was retired from service in 2007.
@@aviationlba747 thank you so much for your answer,
@@aminechouad7796 No problem.
Why does the take off and landing look so slow?
747 classic ,carrying passenger
At incheon!?
Oh my boy
Yes, in 2003.
What is the reason both Captain and Flight Engineer advance the throttles on take-off?
They both have their hand on the throttle levers to be able to reject the take-off in case of need. The captain in case of any issue related to the traffic/runway/ATC, the FE in case of engine or system related issues.
1975?! How many years do these things stay in operation for?
50
This one was retired from service in 2007, so 32 years in this case.
My biggest irritation with JP videos is the amount of time, especially at crucial or interesting parts of the flight where the camera man zooms in on the countryside. If I want to watch that, I'll watch pax videos of flights. They must go through quite the process of getting into the cockpit, only to film out the window at the fields. Aye currumba.
Classic Aussie skipper PA announcement ...
Did you hear about the guy that walked sideways through the airport turnstile? He was going to Bangkok.
👍
