@@ijaen Outside Speakers are a requirement for safety regulations now. Sure it works fine in sparely populated quieter areas. But it's not going to work in densely populated areas with a high noise floor aka Cities. The natural environment where BEVs live those exterior sound generators are going to be useless and just add to the Noise Floor when there are many around. There should be like a system which listens to environment and switches off the safety mandated warning when in noise floor is too high. Just endlessly pumping more sound into a loud place is pointless.

Wow Thomas! I am shocked on how the German auto makers reduced the interior room over their new vehicles.. I am a tall European guy at 6ft 6 and im struggling to fit in most new BMWs. It wasnt an issue a few years back. On the other hand, I am amazed on how Korean automakers make their cars bigger inside and i recently got fit very comfotably in the Huyndai i20 of my girlfriend!!! And the Asian car industry still support physical buttons while European car industry believe we dont need them !!!! As for animal skin free , bingo, i will give them that!!! But im not sure if this is the right direction in the future. I mean being top at animal skin free cars and nowhere else

It was not long ago that the three German automakers discussed the basics of automobiles and treated them as sewage. With the advent of the era of electric vehicles so fast, the three German companies have fat bodies with large displays and pretty LED lights, shouting, "This is the essence of real cars!"
I admit that I'm still ahead in making it, but it's not much of a difference. I'm going to cut through the Heritage, but I don't think there's a hidden card... The only way to protect trade is to shout ESG.

So the question now is whether this is a "real" AMG since it doesn't have a hand-built ICE engine. I've heard hardcore enthusiasts say that the AMG cars without the hand-built engine, of which I am a proud owner, are not "real" AMGs. If this is the future of Mercedes and AMG, what does that make this car? Real AMG or not?

"Handbuilt" is a marketing gimick anyway, should really be called "hand assemblied", which all engines are to an extent, so does it really matter that the AMG engines is assembled by 1 technician rather than several? The end product is identical.

@@Jeppelelle In the case of "traditional" AMG engines, I think at last _part_ of what you're paying for is the skill of a technician who is doing all the assembly that would usually be split amongst several workers/robots (who would be focusing on a specific part of the assembly) for mass market engine designs. Yes, Mercedes does mark the price up *through the roof* (and I guarantee you the technician only sees a fraction of that increase in their paycheck), but there is genuinely a higher level of expertise there.

I guess Mercedes' market analysis decided that the customer base for that sort of car (i.e. millionaires+) don't care about the environment that much that they'd open an animal-free interior.
Something that also bugs me about most car manufacturers is, that "animal-free" tends to mean "polyester fibre", and I hate that stuff. I'd gladly go animal-free if I'd get a choice of cotton or flax or whatever fabric seats. Can't be /that/ hard to produce now, can it?

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: ruclips.net/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/видео.html
In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ruclips.net/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/видео.html
Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car.
In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: ruclips.net/video/u94YXJ72UTA/видео.html
Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

Due to Mercedes' horrible packaging job, there is no frunk at all. The Model S was gets smaller every incarnation, but Lucid Air has 670 hp on teh front axle and a HUGE frunk nevertheless.

@@autogefuehl Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately I am not talking about the unhuman food industry but only technically. Extrem positions either in favor nor against a secondary topic like animal right and so on are not my goal. A society and their collateral damage and ecological footprint are always wide spread and nothing is perfect, but in fact ecological and sustainable leather is better than other leader and plastic based recycled microfibers are not the perfect solution. I only would like you to be open minded also for other inprovements including all solution also leather even if so there will not be the 100% perfect solution. Leather production is extremely harmful and uses more resources than anything else. I have looked into that topic for a very long time, I have even calculated the CO2 figures. However, I found it disturbing to argue with CO2 figures when at the same time, we are talking destroyed lives for humans and animals. That's why I am focussing on the ethical aspect.

I especially agree with your statement that we are influenced by others, just as you and I have been. I will always love my leather coats, shoes, and ribeye steaks. Future generations will be weened off of these things, but the wealthy will be the only ones who can still enjoy these luxuries. You should not deny that you also have been influenced. If you really believed in sustainability you would not do videos on cars. Even you grin at the rumble of a V8 or the acceleration of a 911 turbo.
