Well. now I want that Omega even more.
😂
Boring
😅 yup
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
AquaTerra all the way.
One of the only channels I won’t watch on silent with subtitles.
Yes, this guys voice and delivery is melodic
Best voice on youtube- and the most clever mind!
Is that really something you do regularly?

Nah, maybe back then he is. Teddy is far superior now.
That’s a big improvement over their previous effort.
These deep dive reviews are absolutely spectacular. Andrew, you are truly the best out there.
Can't wait for Pentax to make a watch that's basically the same but Japanese and affordable
I have the ZM1 and liked it so much that I added the Monochrom version as well. Outstanding product.
I really like the lenticular effect of the black/red dial. I don't recall another watch that uses that technique. I'm am sure that it is a very well made watch, but I'd be inclined to wait a couple of years and try to pick up one on the preowned market.
This has to be a shining example of what working hard to sell coal to a coal miner looks like.
It took over 7 minutes to reach a point of discussing the movement, as if the 7 minutes prior on English theatrics about tactility (how many ways can you describe something as tactile?), masked the horrors of a nothing special movement for a rather high asking price of entry.
I wish Leica the best in this realm of horological saturation and even more so in the 5k+ price point.
Andrew - I sincerely hope they sacked their PR person and hired you on retainer. The way you polish this... is masterful.
I mean it’s nice enough, but at that price point, surely you’d opt for Rolex (OP), Omega (AT) or a 9F/spring drive GS…
yeah, if you're a brand chaser
@@robertposteschild2353 right, because Leica ain't a brand. Just some unknown like you trying to be clever. Right?
I know these non-rolex-y videos get less views, but these are the style of videos that the Watchfinder channel has been built on. Some obscure or secretly fascinating watch(es), a narrative from Mr. Hands that inevitably makes us love this watch we'd never seen before, and macro videography that gets so close, if we were any closer to the subject we could pinpoint the molecules on display. Please keep doing these. Doesn't need to be a Lange triple split or a Journe to be interesting.
Also, perhaps some videos on movements themselves? Breaking down how different complications work, etc etc?
What a photogenic watch. 🥁
😅
You are so funny, Dad!
I’m putting that joke in my dadabase.
For me, expensive watches like Omega I only wear on some formal occasions with suits, as for the busy daily routine Citizen eco drive is my favorite time piece to wear anytime anywhere, day or night, on the streets or in some dark side of trails...
price made me sad... out of budget
I like the caseback more than the dial 🙂 The ZM 2 is a beauty though.
Love these videos you produce!! Steeped with detailed historical knowledge
There is no world where I'm paying 5k for a camera maker's second go at a watch.
I seriously impressed at the styling, I think they nailed it.
Great format! Not convinced what Omega this would be a choice over.
Fun fact, Seiko used to make (still does?) camera shutters.
They also make lenses for glasses which is another thing they happen to have in common with Leica.
It’s a beautiful and great watch but for the same price and as you said, you have too many options out there. Many thanks for another great video.
You’ve convinced me to at least check it out. The price point on the intro watch was way too high. This one is well within reason.
It's great! ...It certainly has a PD / IWC 80's design, that dial with the red feature made me think of 80's blinds, like the ones in 9 1/2 weeks with Kim Basinger.
Luxury and simplicity in one product
As always, your reviews are one of a kind- BEST!!!! And what a nice coincidence, I like Photography too, but I do Micro-photography through the Microscope, and started in 1969 with a Yashica TL-Super, then acquired a used Nikon F Photomic in 1972, and then what was supposed to be the best 35mm Rangefinder ever- The Leica M3!!!! But when I acquired my very first watch after receiving an Oris from my Dear Granny, and an Elgin from my beloved mother, I decided to get an Omega!!!! And I selected Omega coz of the Moon Landing stuff, and because I read in a French-written magazine an article about Omega producing 100K chronometers without a single failure, and one of them a watch with a 0.0 Error Rate IN ALL POSITIONS during all tests!!!! I did not understand well at the time, so I had to read a lot, and talk with local watchmakers. And the three I talked with told me that my choice was the BEST IN MY LIFE!!! I have been an Omega fan ever since. What this has to do with this Leica offering? Yes, it is very well built, but do not have built a good reputation yet, like Omega. And in the actuality, Digital Leica cameras, although very well built, are consistently outperformed by Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, and Pentax. I myself have a Canon EOS 5D MkII, with a 28-135 USM/IS Zoom Lens, and a 50 f/1.2 L normal lens, and I am very happy with it despite been a camera from 2012. And that whole outfit was bought for 1200.00 USD less than this watch. So for my money, I would get a less expensive, better established watch brand than this Leica. And maybe if I get the money, another Speedmaster like the Sandwich 3861!!!!! That is MHO.
Beautiful watch for sure! Not a terrible price point considering the cachet of the logo itself, watch making pedigree or not! Best Sunday evening review I am watching!
I have a Q3. I love it. Love the Leica Watch and I'm sure it's worth the money. I just don't have that kind on money to burn. I have 12 watches. The most expensive is $2400. I consider them all beautiful, fantastic watches. Glad Leica made a beautiful watch. Love Leica. Just Not for me.
Cool watch to purchase used when available.
Actually, not so bad about the price! Would love to get it in my hands. You make it sound, well, amazing.
I think to this day you cannot use photographic equipment in many courtrooms making noise louder than a Leica M. Obviously we're not talking cameras here, but when the shutter clicked, the price hammer fell louder than a Leica M. I knew this timepiece would be pricey. Leica and cheap do not mix and shouldn't. I am quite taken with the blue and steel, but the price would surely steal my soul and body. To be honest, these days that price is not in my range no matter who made it. Loved the review as it was informative and entertaining as usual. Good day, all.
I can't get over the price. It's over 6 grand, and you just know that on the secondary market the depreciation is going to sink faster than a boulder.
At that price range, it's got much better competition from established watchmakers like Omega, IWC, JLC, Tudor, Glashutte Original. And if, like me, you're turning away from the mainstream brands towards microbrands that offer much more value and exciting designs, you could save a fair bit of money and go Isotope, Duckworth Prestwick, Zelos, Heron, Christopher Ward, etc.
The Leica, while attractive, is both aesthetically forgettable and doesn't offer anything new or complex, while simultaneously asking for a premium. Plus If you get one, you're locked in to that proprietary strap system, and straps on the Leica site are two to three hundred each.
Honestly, if I was thinking about an Omega before watching this video, I'm still going to be thinking about the Omega afterwards.
6000£ is a heavy price
I like the gold one , really beautiful
Glad to see this reviewed. Wish the review had been edited to about half as long.
this really makes me question my perspective on watches. Should I buy the watch I enjoy most? Or the one that gives me the most credibility? At what point is the price a tradeoff? Do I have to buy a matching camera?
I like it! Especially the blue one.
I’m getting brown corduroy vibes and that’s not a bad thing in this case. Impressive.
Awesome dials, and the bracelet looks a bit like Moser
Actually, the ZM 11 was actually designed by the designer of the Moser ;-)
Absolutely hilarious that Leica have gone with horizontal metal slats on their dial to evoke their cameras because...
Leica cameras have antiquated rubberised cloth shutters to this day. It was Zeiss shutters that were made of metal slats and that was one of their key advantages over Leica. And that's the design all modern cameras, except Leica, use.
It appears the Leica marketing department knows little about their roots and how their cameras actually work.
A bit like Rolex launching a frying pan with a Royal Oak style bezel.
Rings all the "more money than sense" luxury alarm bells for me.
Nice piece !
The Ti case finish, crown and bracelet reminds me of the Oris Pro-Pilot 400, albeit with a much more interesting dial.
I think the price is OK. I'd love to get one in my hands.
Beautiful watch.
Such a beautiful design.
Genius as will be bought by Leica fan club and architects would have bought Saab's if they were born a generation or 2 ago, but mass market wise this sinks like a stone at that price in the wake of nomos.
Leicester fans need only wait a few years to pick this up for half price...and even then it'll be more expensive than a nomos club.
That bracelet looks like a winner though. Moser streamliner at a fraction of the cost.
It looks good to me and the price seems very acceptable given the branding. I see no reason to question Leica's ability to make a watch and when you think of who else has been at it recently.........😂🤣😂
Price is reasonable for me. Given that blue is my colour the price is more than reasonable given the exclusivity as few will buy them. Available from Leica Boutiques?
As an owner of none of the like of an SMP, AT or OP, I think I would choose one of those over this.
However, this is not a completely informed opinion as I've never seen this in person.
Maybe I'd choose to take the path to the Leica.
I like these!
The watch looks very interesting, I’d love to try one on
Love it. I will never afford or own one but I still approve.
Great!
Wetzlar is German for 'Watch' FYI
No, it is not German for watch. Wetzlar is the city where the Leica Store is located.
They have a long history of making
accurate surveying equipment
It's very nice, but I don't like the dial and wish there was a no date version.
You have got to have a date , otherwise how would you know what the date is ?
Gorgeous!
"Bionic snakeskin", brilliant!
As Mr Spock would say “Fascinating..”. I know the quality of Leica cameras and their price-point and the price for this watch is on a par with the likes of Omega. Leica cameras have produced some of the best wartime photos, so this watch presumably reflects that durability. Good video Andrew.
Well, not for me.. yet if my father was still alive- it would be a remarkable present for him. I still remember his old Leica, some 40 years ago. It would join two of his passions together!
I went to a Leica event at a Leica "museum" one time to shhot an event. The vast majority, 90%+ of attendees all treated their Leica cameras as fashion accessories and many of them surprisingly did not even know how to use them. That explained all the out of focus "abstract" shots at nothing plastered all over the walls as "artistic". Down to every person, they were all snobs with too much money and too little talent or understanding. That event told me everything I need to know about the typical Leica owner, and to this day I cannot take anyone who has (has, not use because apparently many of them don't know how to actually use them, as stated) a Leica seriously.
Thats nice design. ıt can be try
Honestly I would prefer it with like Selita movement. Easier to service or fix or regulate.
For service, yes, but regulating would be same if not easier on such a movement. The regulator organ is the same and the build quality is possibly higher.
Back to the hands again...YAY!
Complimentary top-of-the-range Leica camera equipment on its way to pursue your hobby, as we speak!
Leica, now you have my attention.
This is a fantastic review of an absolutely brilliant watch sometimes with these deep views that music a Voice and just showing the Watch is spellbinding .
At this price grade 2 titanium?
Says 5 on the case back
@@tonyhopeful Case 5, bracelet 2? Just like the Bel Canto, maybe.
So, the first lesson they learned is to cut the price by 2/3rds until they establish horological credibility? That tracks.
Speedy is still my grail .
I still prefer my Omega planet ocean over anything swiss made with a good history
As a professional photographer, I want to like it. It’s nice, but it does nothing ing to stir me. It feels as if Leica was trying very hard to not be Leica in this design to me. I’m not a fan of slotted dials though. Ditch the integrated proprietary bracelet/strap system. Just about anybody that is in the market for a Leica branded watch would embrace more camera influenced design. I’m sure it’s very nice, but just not my taste.
‘Before you buy a Nautilus’
35 Jewels in the ZM11.....Leica makes the 1st 35mm camera? Coincidence? I think not!
That is a beautiful watch, and being a Leica its made to the finest quality 👍 Au
A very valid option. Should have been manually wound though.
Nahh ,,, I'll stick with Omega,, but thanks 🙏🙃
yes me too with my 2020 planet ocean Omega is superior
I'd prefer a leica watch made in glashutte since it's a German brand and had a simpler design, like nomos, sinn, muhle or damasko.
Hm.... only camera enthusiasts may consider this watch at the noted price range. If I had that amount of money, I would buy a watch focused brand rather than a camera focused brand. Or even buy a camera instead 😆
What does this Leica ad have to do with Omega?
Nice, but, a tad bland. Very PD. Wouldn’t chose over an Aquaterra.
I want one.....
love to buy one … one day 😅
Lovely hands
I used to be into photography....But after getting hooked on watches I sold it all off to feed the habit....And now I'm poor....But I have my precious...es still.
If I had the money I would buy an OMEGA Seamaster but I don't so I'm good with my citizen skyhawk 😂
Yea nah. I'll stick to Omega 😂😂😂
I like dial, I don't like the case at all
If seiko made cameras......?
I dig it. But for the price I’d take it over the Omega but not over the oyster perpetual. A thousand less either way they’d be spit on
That's nope for me. I would buy an Omega camera though.
It's a gorgeous watch without doubt. However, at this price point ... I would like elsewhere still.
If you ever held a Leica camera, yes it’s worth the price.
Very pretty but, that price!! Ouch!! Maybe you need to see it, feel it, smell it (step too far?) 😂
If only it had a nice smooth watch face... Luxaflex is not my style..
Hasselblad - where watch?!
At that price I'd go elsewhere. Half the price and they'd build the brand in this sphere well imo
If I had money to burn. Sign me up! Its stunning!
Kool… 😎
Its very Moser.
Same designer actually 👍
The only Leica that I'm interested in is my trap line 😊
Wtf does this have to do with omega??
In this day and age when buyers are demanding much more than just utility from a luxury item, this effort may yet not be enough. Sure the dial is unique and the bracelet is quite pretty, the fit and finish as a whole seems a bit off the mark. The hands and indicies look VERY roughly polished; so much so that they fall beneath the standard the LEICA brand should stand for (have you seen GS?). Movement is both technically and decroratively bland (a similarly priced Omega offers a lot more to look at and technically superior). The font used screams microbrand - generic and utilitarian without any visual identity. We didn't get to see the box and packaging, which I would argue is a part of the experience of buying a watch these days. And when you have to deal with the inevitable question of whether you just got FREE watch with your camera purchase, much like a happy meal toy, there seems little point to buying this, above say a Rolex Datejust.
Edit: a couple of areas where I can think Leica can improve on: lume on what is obviously a sports watch; applied logo instead of printed; tweek the dial slightly so it doesn't lead people to think immediately think of Nautilus or Aqua Terra clone; give the rotar a better visual identity so that it doesn't scream IWC; get rid of the gold hands version which looks more like an indecision of whether this should be a dress or sports watch, and offer it on a white dial; include both the titanium and canvas bracelet for more compelling value.
