I’m just relieved he didn’t include anything from Rolex or omega, doesn’t matter what list he’s making, those two always seem to be on the list no matter how unrelated they are.
Well thought out selection of styles and functions ! Minutely explained and lavishly illustrated ! Excellent year ending video ! Best wishes to everybody @ Watchfinder & Co !
I bought my wife a PRX for Christmas, and while it’s beautiful, it leaves me wanting a bit more. Since the Twelve isn’t currently in budget, I’ve been strongly considering the Maen. Gorgeous watch at a price that’s hard to ignore.
If you live near one of the Wind-Up Watch Fair cities, I highly recommend checking it out next summer. Smaller brands like Maen, Underd0g, Vaer, etc can't compete with the high end brands when they're contrasted with extreme close-ups in videos like this, but seeing them in person is a whole other experience.
Frederique Constant Highlife worldtimer Brown should deserve more attention IMO (manufacture calibre, quality of the finishing, sold with 2 straps and a steel bracelet...)
Beautiful! I almost came to tears looking at these masterpieces. Mainly because I had the same feelings one would have looking at a great piece of art and secondly, I will never be able to own one. Great content, thanks.
Could you look into the echo neutra cristallo 500 m Diver watch. In Green or blue using a selita movement are these any good or just a micro brand thanks Andrew
Look at the kinds of videos Watchfinder was publishing as recently as a couple of years ago. Intelligent, informative and witty discussions and explanations of beautiful watches and how they work and what makes them so fascinating. Compare those with the lowest common denominator click bait trash that they pump out now. Sad, very sad.
Many Soviet watches are underrated imo. The Shturmanskie Gagarin has a point of heritage that Omega would kill for, even if it is mostly contented with the moon
An underrated watch? ...Once upon a time in the early 1990s I wanted to buy the coolest chronograph I could find to commemorate a success. I didn't have the knowledge that I have now, but in the end it came down to two watches, both with the same movement, the Zenith 'el primero' movement. One of the watches, a Rolex chronograph, retailed at around £3,000 and the other was over £4,000. To me the Rolex looked boring and the quality seemed so-so, while the other watch was sculpted and by comparison was actually beautiful and the finishing was exquisit. What watch that I bought, that uses the now famous Zenith el primero chronograph movement, do you imagine was worth an additional third of the price of a Rolex Daytona, above the price of the Rolex in the early 1990s, in essence I'm asking what watch was a fair level above the now legendary Rolex daytona, that also uses the now legendary el primero movement? Here's the kicker, what's the price of one of those gold/streel Rolex el primero Daytonas today and what's the price today of a similar early 1990's Ebel 1911 Chronograph with the same movement? Time has not withered my 1911 ebel Chronograph that was once my daily wear watch and that, IMO in direct comparison with a Rolex Daytona then and now still kicks it's arse in the looks and quality department. There's an underrated watch for you, all because the original owners sold the company to some numptys that took a once well reputed brand and apparently trashed its reputation. I wouldn't buy a new Ebel today, but a vintage Ebel chronograph remains something very special indeed...
I can not find in the 10 a watch that i like. But i can give advice, when you want a high quality hand wound watch from Germany, Hentschel is not extremely expensive, and Nomos is famous for Bauhaus design. A piece of history? Look for a Vulcain Cricket!
As always, I am sure this list is in NO WAY influenced by the current inventory for sale at the folks at Watchfinder & Co. It's totally objective "journalism" and opinion...right? Right?
The biggest issue of the sbgw is the logo and typeface scaling on the dial. It honestly has fine proportions, it’s not a calatrava by any means, but the hands/markers, case all work together fine. The GS logo and script along with the placement is absolutely terrible.
It’s fine to me. The biggest problem with grand seiko are their boring and too thick case designs. They’ve basically got 100 variants or special edition of the same watch.
SEIKO made a rookie mistake by naming their upscale brand "Grand SEIKO". They should had followed the steps of LEXUS, INFINITY and ACCURA and give it a brand new name, free of all the baggage of the past. Because people now associate these superior watches with all the problems they have had with their old SEIKOs.
I get what you’re implying but don’t forget Seiko was established in 1881 and has an incredible global history! They single-handedly forced numerous Swiss brands to change to quartz and in some cases go out of business! I think in the not so distant future we’ll be looking at Seiko as the hands down greatest watch brand globally
how can grand seiko be underrated?? you guys all freak out over any screw because you act like hattori hanzo himself cut it out and forged it in the eternal flame at mount fuji. I think gs can come up with literally sh*t and the fan boys will see the finest brown ever…
I thought Rolex was the most basic and boring brand but GS has taken that spot. Yes I said it. How many snow snow flake and tree bark dials can you look at before getting bored.
Worst of the bunch: Remove your voice over and one quickly sees the Grand Seiko for what it is - an overpriced bore of a basic watch. Plenty of watches that do as little, for a tenth of the price, and as well, if not better. Winner of the bunch: The Chopard L.U.C. Most entertaining of the bunch: The Armin Strom. Why? Because even Patek owners need a hero to look up to. The Armin Strom reminds us that horology is not about the next best watch, but it is about the watches that grab us as individual preference permits, irrespective of elitist brand snobery, because I'd rather wear my first Casio that reminds me of my first love of watches, then feel inadequate because someone decides to wear all their Pateks on one wrist. Thank you Armin Strom for reminding me that my passion and interest is peaked by the emotion that is stirred and not defined by the name on a dial.
@Ratatatatata388 Indeed, I have. Strike 1. Don't make assumptions without knowledge of a statement you are about to make. Troll something else. Good luck.
Undervalued? Any watch that costs more than $500 is a insane waste of money and pure rip off. No matter how often you want to tell people its a luxury, nothing justifies more than a couple hundred $ for a single watch. Its just another example of how ridiculous stupid capitalist society has become.
My lord, first video without a tudor or christopher ward. He got the memo 🤣
Both are superior to the japan trash
Because they aren’t underrated
They’re rated. We know they’re good.

Do it. Mine's as tough & robust as any Rolex Submariner.
does yours have the bubble issue on the crystal?
I bought one from Japan through Chrono24 and saved a load of money.

6:59 this bit is amazing 🤣
"Something, something Armin Strom is utter perfection..."
Pause the video at 11:32 and tell me you can't see a problem...
oh, that's a nasty chunk there. That's the kind of finishing you would expect to see on a Behrens Perigee.
Yep I immediately saw that too
This type of content is 100x better than the podcasts. Talking hands forever!
The podcast and the talking hands type video are different styles, definitely merits for both!
What???? I love the podcasts

I was surprised they let him get away with it, such jokes are usually reserved for his personal channel 😂
The power of pure audacity. They were probably sitting there like "Naw, he would never.". lol @@thecianinator
Armin Strom is one of my dream pieces. They look so epic.
Great list! Horage and Accutron are overlooked in the lower/mid tier, with Parmigiani in the next.
I love the Trilobe, but I would want the Nuit Fantastique. I bought the Manhattan 37 based on the review on this channel, and it's wonderful.
Wow, that GS is mint! ❤
The Armin Strom is stunning, I was expecting that to be much more unaffordable!

Ulysse Nordin deserves more attention ….. same goes for Orient Stars….😊
Good shout. Especially orient. Does the seiko thing better than seiko without the downward pull of seiko branding.
How much did Maen paid to be included in this video?
I enjoy this guy's content
What do you think about the Tourbillon watches from (Beat) Haldimann?
Superb voice and nice content, thank you
which one do you personally owned?
Love the Strike One
I can appreciate well crafted guilloche, but I find that square pattern on the Louar hideous. The Grand Seiko is sweet though.
If I can find a Gravity Equal Force with the KV guilloche baseplate, I’d buy it immediately.
