Can’t wait for the swatch reverso!
Tissot. Fine digital watches since 1853.
Ok…I just needed to comment . That made me laff! LOL.
As a digital watches fan , I actually like that Tissot . Just imagine that Casio has re issued their Casiotron , they would charge almost the same price as the Tissot ( Casio thinks that stainless steel cases are luxury ! check stainless steel G-shocks' prices without Sapphire )
More reviewers now criticize the " negative space" on the dial ! what about Moser & Cie ?
Generally , I'm not a fan of Tissot , but the truth must be said.
Me too. I'm considering getting one now that the haters have driven the price down. I think they go for about £250 at F&G. Spec wise it's objectively good except for having a press on rather than screw down case back. But the water resistance is still ok for daily use. The module has a really nice back light, clear display and good functionality. I actually prefer the clean look of it to the regular PRX. I find it really sad how shallow bigoted people can't accept that different people like different things. That is the definition of a watch snob. The fact that those people hate it makes me like it even more.
👏👏@@nathanaelsmith3553
For me what makes the PRX digital the worst is that there were so many other things they could have done with the PRX platform instead. I have the PRX Chrono and love it, and would love to see more different variations, but the digital just missed the mark completely. Fingers crossed in 2024 Tissot can come up with something better for the PRX, maybe either some bolder dial designs or new case colours (I think the case in black or rose gold could look mega).
a mecaquartz chrono would be cool
Maybe a swatch PRX xD
I love my PRX digital (gold, 35mm). I love it because I’m amazing.
If you guys enjoy a good pun, Spinnaker released a cute little dive watch around Halloween called the "50 Phantoms" with a bunch of adorable little ghosts on the dial. Unfortunately it was a limited edition that sold out in seconds.
There was a second release of pre-orders for a while longer this time due to the botched initial release in blue and a mist gray/blue set to ship in 2024. Main issue with it. It's... massive. 43mm x 51mm x 13mm with a 22mm lug width. I nearly bought one. But backed out. I'd never wear the thing.
@@tailsneon556 Fair point on those dimensions. I have a Seiko Samurai that's 43mm but has an amazingly designed case that is only 47 lug to lug.
Idk about anyone else, but I'm not a fan of a rectangular digital display on a circular case.
You guys selection of worst 2023 watches, in my opinion, was spot on. Well done! 👍
A very big horological puzzle: Why the hell Blancpain refuses to make their sub-42mm Fifty Fathoms permanent part of the collection, butt limited editions all the time???
They are a joke brand. Just refusing to do what the customers are asking for. The business and marketing team need to get cleaned out, they’re killing the brand(killed? It’s a corpse already)
Blancpain probably figured they they cash in on the "rare, prestigious" marketing of a proven watch to create an artifiial demand...
I think next year swatch should surprise us by NOT collaborating with yet another brand, give us a break from another toy watch 🤣
Blancpain doing the ‘team-building-day of watches’ is spot on! If ever it were true that you can tell a lot about a man by his watch…
Customers know arrogance when they see it. Tissot and swatch forgot this. Good choices, both of you.
PS. My name for it is the “blank/pained expression”
I've owned some decent tissots. This one reminds me of the digital watches they'd sell at Walmart for under $20. What were they thinking?
Tissot went for retro cool, unfortunately Tissot has no clue what cool is.
Not that long ago I got a Tissot day date with a 2834-2 in it for £299, cracking watch that never needs a battery.
I totally agree. I have a few Tissot automatics and they are great watches and I believe had some association with Omega.@@philspencelayh5464
The digital PRX is a masterstroke of late 70's watch style, especially with the 'basic' digital display. Love it.
Completely stupid price point though.
Absolutely. A new MTG-B2000 can be had for almost the same money if one looks, which is ridiculous value. This scratches an entirely different itch, but if I had the choice I'd do the MTG without hesitation. I've already got a vintage, late 70's Ebeerhard that does the square integrated bracelet thing to perfection. But for late 70's premium digital that's period correct, it's a great choice. Value is relative to how badly you want, that. Cheers.@borregoayudando1481
What’s wrong with Tissot? The styling is eternal, just like disco and leisure suits.
What’s wrong with Tissot? Everything! If you want to go with old school cool, but a classic Casio from that era for 40 dollars.
400£ too much
It takes a lot of money to look this cheap.
The lapels were just a little too big.
Its not a Casio. That's the problem 😅 Best digital release of the year was the A1100
Thrifty Fathoms would have instantly made the release cooler
The Tissot is ugly but the Blancpain isn‘t that bad. The only thing which is really bad is that you can‘t maintenance it. And that‘s a no go for me why I won‘t buy one although I like the design.
Same, thats the only reason I didn’t buy it.
The problem is the tissot is way overpriced for what it is, had they priced it at say 50% of the analog one maybe it would be recieved better?
The only thing I would argue in favor of the Swatch Blancpain is that relatively speaking, very few people, other than watch enthusiasts, know the name Blancpain. This offering does at the very least, expose the name, that might get someone, who in a few years may be working their way up in watch collecting, and could be a potential client of the genuine thing.
That's assuming that Blancpain wants to be a brand that is recognised by everyone. Why do you think A Lange und Söhne doesn't pay a single prominent person on the planet to represent them? It's because, if you're mature enough to know them, you don't need an ambassador to tell you about them. I always felt Blancpain was in a similar ball park. Now it's just weird and sad.
@@Ossory88 Blancpain is owned by the Swatch group. A publicly held company that I am sure has growth goals for all of their product lines. As Tom indicated in the video, the relative success of the Omega branding was enough to get them thinking this could also work for Blancpain. As for your example of Lange, that is a family owned company, and I'm sure has different values in terms of growth and market share compared to a large company like Swatch Group.
That PRX 🤢 . Blancpain x Garbage x Slugs 😂. Worthy choices 👏
Great post. I actually like my Blancpain X Swatch. Cheers
The blancpain is much better than the moonswatch. At least the BP is with an automatic movement,system51, and I haven’t seen any fall apart unlike the moonswatch
Tom is spot on with that PRX. Absolute rubbish... the customers gave them an inch, and now they're taking a whole mile.
I know everyone is expecting next year Swatch to collaborate with another watch brand under the Swatch Group umbrella so nobody is excited about that but what if they surprised us with making a deal with another giant brand outside of Swatch Group. I think everyone will loose their minds again like the first time. Remember you have heard it here first 😂
Lose*
Can't wait for that €400 plastic Breguet Classique
I really wanted a couple of fun coloured plastic swatch blanc watches until I heard the movement was unserviceable essentially making it a throw away watch or something, for the cat to play with when the time came.
The digi prx literally looks better than the regular prx because the original texture dial looks kinda cheap imo.
Very valid point!
I just bought my own Tissot PRX digital. I love it.
I actually liked the Swatch 50 Fathoms a lot more than the MoonSwatch 🤷♂️ I even like the PRX Digital…in plain steel on the smaller case size. As on that, the LCD display doesn’t look as undersized.
I'm disappointed Tom didn't pick the OP celebration
yea im surprised there was no rolex
Swatch collaborations = forced corporate team building ... spot on.
I agree with Tom. The Tissot digital is not my cup of tea. I wouldn't pay 50 quid for it.😣
Well you hit the nail on the head with these two, I hate to even call them watches, That Tissot is a homage to the digitals of the 70's that nearly destroyed mechanical watches and the Swatchpain is an insult to the history of Blancpain as the first true dive watch. As an owner of a couple Blancpains I feel personally insulted.
PRX digital would have been fine if the display was black with red numbers. Something like the Hamilton PSR
If I wanted a digital watch I’d buy a Casio. I’ve never wanted a digital watch or a quartz watch. There’s just something magical about owning a mechanical movement, be true mechanical or self winding. But, I did buy my wife a pale blue Tissot PRX, and she loves it, which makes me very happy.
Poor Orient. They released one of the killer affordable divers of 2023 the Mako 40mm, then somebody noticed the minute markers between 25 and 30 had been fiked up. Some sellers are shifting them as if it never happened, but when the new dials filter through this will be one to buy.
Absolutely nailed it. I usually disagree with one or two views (to be expected as I'm not a clone), but I agree with all of these.
As a Tissot PRX80 owner, I cringe at the faux-Casio edition. They should have stopped with the PRX80 before they went Tiffany Blue. To paraphrase RDJ in Tropic Thunder (aka Lazarus) - They went full re*ard...
Plus, that Blancpain afterbirth... Enough said. Swatch! Don't do a Tissot!
P.S. I'm also of the same view Re the CW C65. They smashed it out the park with the Bel Canto (which I still want to get), but then 5hat on its legacy by copying every other 2 year old design to add to their overpopulated list of 'bread, milk, and eggs' offerings. We need another Bel Canto esque innovation from them.
Don't get me started on Frederique Constant who went from being welcomed onto the neighbourhood play area, tothinking they were professional athletes ready for the Olympics. Dial it back Frederique. You're not a 20k+ brand yet. You're barely a 5k brand and that's being generous.
I would never buy that Tissot, but I love it simply because they did take it too far. It's Quartz Crisis chic.
100 percent.
My only complaint, is you didn't list more. Come on guys, there were plenty of deserving watches that could have been called out. :)
Blancpain have a watch with killer looks on their books - the original fifty fathoms. Scrap the bronze version. A reissued steel version would revive their fortunes overnight.
I'd rather have the 'ocean breath' mentioned on the Blancpain caseback than the actual watch. It's akin to having a visible Boxster engine encased in a Citroen 2CV.
I think a PRX anadigi might work.
Ah .. the Peter Cook and Dudley Moore of watches, keep on rocking guys! Hilarious!
Tom’s favorite “name” of the collab absolutely slayed me.
Is the earlier success of their earlier models that turned manufacturers hoping the new models will be another cash cow for them. I totally agreed with u guys points.
The problem is the plastic case if Swatch use ceramic to make the watch case for this crossover product, the outcome would be different
The PRX digital is useless, but the Blancpain x Swatch is alright, depending on the price. I never liked the MoonSwatch as it's some cheap, quartz garbage.
I don't mind quartz, own myself a Tag Heuer quartz as my motorbike riding watch.
The Blancpain at least is an automatic and the design seems alright.
If Tissot were going to use a digital display on the PRX they should’ve used an LED display. I still wouldn’t be interested but at least it would add a bit of colour and interest.
I bought a digital watch not long after they first came out. You don't need to wear one for very long to realise that hands are much better. I couldn't see a use for one but it would be an F-91w which at least looks "right" .
The Swatch Happy Meal collection goes from bad to worse.
The Tissot has nothing to offer compared to Casio, Seiko and other brands. The Blancpain just doesn't have image in the marketplace to make it worth having a plastic copy.
Are the Blancpain and Omega Swatches both automatic?
No. The "omega" swatches are quartz.
"Blancpain" swatches, on the other hand, are mechanical automatic but not serviceable (equipped with system 51 movements).
Yes, I agree with you both.
I think the PRX digital could have been a thing, they just didn't get the design of the digital display right
Anything Toilex or Tootor should be on this list considering how gouged out and over priced they are.
The digi prx would be fine if it was half the price of the analog quartz version.
It looks like something I could find in the watch section at Walmart. Half price is being kind 😂
I like the black faced digital PRX, just would never pay that for a digital.
Ah c’mon the PRX digi isn’t so bad. It’s a hipster’s wet dream.
No one says “hipster” anymore.
@@mitchmitchell9588sounds like a hipster thing to say.
@@canadianmale7610 umm. That’s the joke…
Was expecting more that just 2 watches
Agree with both of these. All X Swatches are an awful unfunny joke that devalues historic brands and historic watches that the Swatch group clearly care nothing about protecting. And that PRX, wow, horrendous and incredibly overpriced.
The Tissot is upending the idea of the x Swatch. Here you have a tribute to the much loved petrol station watch of the seventies, but at the price of a real watch.
I don't understand the hate the Blancpain 50 fathoms receives. It's market is that of a first/second watch for a younger generation. I would have loved to have received a watch like this as a teenager as a first watch.
If it was around 1/2 the price and serviceable I could get the hype .😊
The Blancpain x Swatch Fifty Fathoms is great but overly pricey to my taste. To me it is £150-200 at most.
That Tissot PRX is just an expensive Casio homage.
Starting to view these vid like a Teddy vid, i.e rapid fast forwarding it.
People need to remember how these idiots loved the PRX, (non digital), in the beginning, now they’re treating ownership like you’re eating pineapple & ham pizza while listening to Nickleback.
couldnt agree more with the blanc x swatch...total pile of crap ..milking profit from their historic brands but it will end up going sour
I don't like it either but the digital prx is the most 70's of all the 70's watches.
Watchfinder :What was the worst watch of 2023?
Every fashionable Rolex haters on the site: uh... Every Rolex ever made. I say that not because I've ever owned one but because I know I'll never be able to own one, so I have to trash that club that would never have me as a member.
Watchfinder: then what watch is your favorite?
Rolex hater: Omega.
Watchfinder: do you own one?
Rolex hater: No. But if I ever was able to save enough from my dishwasher job, I would buy a Seamaster to wear to work and go from diving for those salad forks that always sink to the bottom of my dishwashing machine!
Watchfinder: I see. You know what would work in your dishwasher is the Rolex Submariner.
Rolex hater: no way, one look at my pruny fingers, and the Rolex AD would curl his lip and place my order at the very bottom of the pile. I'll never get a Rolex.
Andrew pronouncing it "Blonkpenn" should definitely be on this list too.
Haven’t had a digital watch since I was a young teen.Has anyone ever made a colour digit, digital watch?
I love my plastic Blancpain
First like ... although Iike the new swatch Blancpain
Yes
Absolutely agree with this video…
I wonder what Swatch's management really think about their customers.
Probably even less than they think about the historic brands and great watches they are devaluing
They think; hi kids collect them all
Tissot went retro. Where is the love? You want a G Shock?
The Tissot PRX digital looks like a copy of a Rolex Oyster Quartz case with a generic digital movement grafted in. It reminds me of the cartoons of the London Big Ben clock replaced with a digital display in the 1980s.
If you saw Tissot's vintage digital watch, you wouldn't say this.
@@happysmile2627 Hi, I couldn’t find that, but it would have been better to have used a display using the LEDs, or something like them to recreate that retro look rather than the conventional( boring) LED look. If that was a black dial with glowing red digits, it would look great. I bet they could do this now without running the battery down in no time.
The Casio x Tissot is indeed a piece of horror.
Guaranteed if it was someone other than Swatch Group to make the plastic collaboration everyone would be singing a different tune
100% agree on both. When the news of the PRX digital came out, I honest to God thought it was a prank...Kind of like when dorritos comes out with a silly hat shaped like a tortilla chip!
Love your icon!
The Swatch was fun. The AP spider man watches sucked more than the tissot, in my opinion. No one asked for those and probably no one will wear them.
Blank swatch is better than the plastic moonswatch but since its not as popular you took a dump on it...
No they took a dump on it because it’s a complete plastic crappy travesty like all X Swatches
More pricey though but I agree, I’m enjoying my blue scuba as it matches my scrubs perfectly. So it’s just something fun to wear at work
You never know the Tissot may just be ugly enough that people don't buy it like the Daytona was and in years to come may be a collector's item and increase rapidly in value
that will not happen
I agree on both worst watches 2023 !!
Agree, wholeheartedly
That Digital PRX should have had a black dial with red LED digital display. That would have looked great instead of the bullshit "is that a Casio?" look
Yes, some of them I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.
Yeah right - digital PRX? Ughh - who ever thought that was a good idea? - the PRX is what Tissot has become known for so why take your identity product and bastardise it??? - it’s like Rolex or Omega saying ‘digital Submariner or Speedmaster anyone?’ - No?
Thrifty Fathoms 😂
That PRX is a rectangular peg in a round hole.
that prx digital is the definition of a phone in watch awful overpriced expensive junk i can normally see appeal in a watch but not thar one. Blancpain thing is alright i can see the fun in it however its still a expensive plastic watch with a questionable movement that likes to break in many many ways.
I could not possibly agree more, on both counts
The Blancpain/Swatch is pretty fun, colour is fun! You can coordinate your outfit to your watch. Time for the watch industry to take itself less seriously.
Worst watch is anything with a snowflake hour hand and no date, so most Tudor watches.
Digital watches are amazing bit thats casio's thing.
Couldn’t disagree more. It’s a tie. Rolex with the puzzle dial or the Celebration dial. The epitome of corporate-mandated fun. Both ugly and both overpriced. At least the Tissot and BlankSwatch come in under $600.
As for the Tissot, Tom’s got it wrong. That’s a cool watch. Y’all just don’t get it. And that’s OK! Happy New Year, bitches!
The Tissot sucks, they are just trying to milk the PRX success. Overpriced trash, worst Tissot watch.
That PRX is butt ugly, however I like the fact that they've put the display time as 10:08
Over 300 quid for a Casio rip off?
Behave Tissot.
Selling a wife that supposedly is environmentally friendly, but whose movement’s core function basically waiting to be thrown into the very oceans that it supposedly celebrates.
Blancpain is trying to spark intrigue into the brand and revive the brand. But if you buy the swatch, you likely will never own a real Fifty Fathoms so it's a futile endeavor
I own a moonswatch and and moonwatch, guess which I bought first.
@gypsyemperor7535 good for you, the real moonwatch?
@@gypsyemperor7535got the scuba as a gift earlier this year and was pleasantly surprised. I owned the original swatch system 51 from ten years ago. if blancpain had a smaller diameter non special edition I’d consider it as well
Couldn’t agree with Tom more! The watch is hideous and expensive!
The Tissot is horrific!
