I really agree with you as a bts fan. It’s really hard to stay being a calm fan while antis take super big efforts into provoking us daily but mostly we do it with ease. I’m really proud of what fans can be now. Me being a DC fan I was happy when I saw that the other DC fans are not being trashed on by the Marvel fans because let's face it, it's hard being a DC fan nowadays. Superman is relatable, hes a reminder of what unchecked power can do to a person. Batman is a reminder of how well rounded a person can be The Flash, shows that you can't keep running away from your problems. Growing up on DC I learned lessons with each character, and I may have gotten some of these themes wrong but I'm explaining what I've gotten from them growing up, what these characters mean to me, and not what they're supposed to mean

Exclusionists definitely exist in both fandoms. As a primarily DC fan, I've definitely seen more "DC only" people. Well, they're really more "anti-Marvel" than "DC only."

She was pictured as this prized asset/possession in all three films when I just didn't get what was so great about her. Gwen Stacy played by Emma Stone was better in this regard. I thought the Amazing Spiderman was worse than the Raimi trilogy except for Stone. Then there's Zendaya's MJ who is the best. I can't wait to see more of her.
Marvel heroes are inherently more relatable, while DC heroes are more mythic, larger than life characters. You get different experiences as a consumer with both.
Not anymore, I found Batman to be far more relatable than the likes of the shitty Eternals. DC keeps releasing better and better movies and Marvel only gets shittier. You can tell that Disney has an agenda set.

Not actually. I relate more to Superman or I guess Clark Kent rather than Ironman. Just because Clark Kent is this awkward nerd who sucks at talking to ladies, and honestly I relate more to him rather than Tony who's a Billionaire, playboy, and has probably a 200 IQ. Most people think Marvel is more relatable because they aren't as powerful as DC. But DC has a human side too. I guess it depends on the character.
@@BerbinKing Exactly. There's a quote that I have seen circulated around for a couple of years. "DC heroes are gods trying to be human, while Marvel heroes are humans trying to be gods." Yes Marvel has more human heroes, or street level characters you could say, but that doesn't necessarily make them more relatable. Same thing with DC. Just because they're super powerful, it doesn't mean they're not relatable.
Agree with the other people here. It's not black and white. I relate a lot to characters like Stephanie Brown & Barbara Gordon on more of a street level but I can also relate to Supergirl with her just trying to find her place in the world. Marvel & DC are both great!

Well no, it’s not that you can’t love both, it’s that you can’t love how one executes their ideas. No comic fan I know hates dc, they hate how they execute their movies or execute their comic storylines. I don’t like dc movies because their movies are so badly executed that I can’t enjoy myself. I’d definitely say the comics are pretty similar considering there are multiple authors that make different versions of each hero but the movies definitely go to marvel with the animated series going to DC
SO glad that Shang-Chi made its way into this video! I loved that movie so much, and there's no racial bias needed to make that statement even though I'm Asian myself. Marvel just has a way of making representation seem natural and not forced. This conversation is easily one of my favorites that Jubilee has made

For relatability, I think DC villains and anti hero’s are actually more relatable. That’s why we went crazy for joker, Harley, Cat-woman, the Riddler, Poison Ivy.
I feel like DC heroes' are not overpowered necessarily because their villains are just as strong so while the scaling is higher than marvel the stakes are still the same.
The more OP the characters are, the more weaknesses they have. Superman could easily be defeated by magic or kryptonite or someone who’s stronger than him.

This is what I love about nerd culture, even if you love different things it still brings people together. That was my favorite thing about going to SDCC back in the day, yes you got to see cool comic stuff but mainly you made friends with other fellow nerds while waiting in line. It was the one time of year you could be yourself and connect with other nerds.
I absolutely love Marvel! The new DC movies aren’t really that great imo, but one of my favorite DC movies is The Dark Knight. I love that DC is darker and more vulnerable, that’s the only thing I wish the MCU could capture hopefully in an origin story
I completely agree. I would say I am definitely more of a Marvel fan but some of my favorite superhero films are DC. I am extremely exited for The Batman because we havent had that grungy, hero at their breaking point type film from Marvel I dont think ever. The closest we’ve seen to this is probably 2008s Hulk, which was multiple years before the MCU was even a thought.
I'm a huge DC fan (for my sins - yes, I loved BvS and I gloated about being right about ZSJL) 🤣 but I LOVED Netflix's Hell's Kitchen stuff (APART from The Defenders- which was an unmitigated disaster imo). 😊 But I thought Daredevil and Iron Fist were very well done! And I thoroughly enjoyed Luke Cage and Jessica Jones! In fact, Daredevil was so well scripted, I could swear it was written by someone from DC! Lol there's definitely something great on both sides I think 😀

This is my opinion. Live action movies: Marvel wins. Animated movies: DC wins. For comics: I think it's tied. It could go either way. Conclusion: They are both amazing.

These comics are not popular and definitely doesnt involve their main characters but sometimes do. It's just this torture genre only works well on human characters . the batman characters are so vulnerable so it's easy to create a long term story around them that is "dark" and popular because they are a main popular character everyone knows and they will always be depowered since they never had powers in the first place. Torture scenes and mental manipulation don't last as long in marvel like johhny storm being trapped in another dimension tortured and killed then resurrected only to be tortured again. Or that alien homeworld where you could be kept alive in a jar and mutant experimentation. Is it mainly the batmans stories that people like because theirs nothing like that that I know of in marvel comics so that could be the outstanding thing
Superman is and has always been my hero. He stands for what I believe is the best within us: limitless strength tempered by compassion, that can bear adversity and emerge stronger on the other side. He stands for what I feel we would like to be able to stand for when standing is hardest.
Same, that's why it kind of stung when they used Superman as an example for why DC is not as relatable as Marvel. Superman is probably the most relatable character. You can't use powers as a disqualifying factor because 90% of comic characters would be disqualified.

@@93King Batman is far less relatable in a grander scale, but he like Clark has limitations as well. Clark however evidently is too compassionate at times which results in a lot of the situations he gets into.
@@rogue9230 Clark has been depicted very well in other mediums outside of the DCEU movies. There are tv shows and animations that have shown the struggles and adversities he goes through in the comics.
I see why marvel has much more of an impact in character development and in comics. But I also see in DC comics how they made the blue prints to make the comics we know to day. Heck Even Stan Lee while a big competitor of DC still did SOOOOO MANY CROSS overs in comics movies and video games. In the end Comics and stories are just fun

Superman is the story of an immigrant living in a whole different continent trying to learn his true identity. An incredibly strong individual that, despite all his efforts, knows that he still has some sort of limits, and therefore dedicates himself to self improvement. Clark Kent, superman's alterego, can also be relatable. In fact, Clark is shy, weak... basically everything that superman perceives has humanity's worst flaws. Of course, he's OP, and may be the most impossible character to beat period, but he's sure a more complex and deeper character than what people might think of

When Martin Scorsese said Marvel wasn't cinema he didn't mean that they weren't good. He knows the effort it takes to make the movie, he appreciates the art form and understands why people love it. The problem is that nowadays it's hard for movies that aren't in a franchise to exist. Which makes stand alone movies really hard to make.

Exactly! Growing up, I didn't know about this rivalry. I liked DC characters mostly. I liked Spiderman too but had no idea he was Marvel. But now I'm a full on MCU fan and MCU has made me want to read Marvel comics. Meanwhile, Snyder and his DCEU movies are only driving me away from the franchise.

Growing up on DC I learned lessons with each character, and I may have gotten some of these themes wrong but I'm explaining what I've gotten from them growing up, what these characters mean to me, and not what they're supposed to mean
I’d say Batman is a reminder of trauma - - literally him and all his villains are formed from it and either became better (Batman / Red Hood etc.) or worse (Joker, Two Face etc.)

Not actually. I relate more to Superman or I guess Clark Kent rather than Ironman. Exactly. There's a quote that I have seen circulated around for a couple of years. "DC heroes are gods trying to be human, while Marvel heroes are humans trying to be gods." Yes Marvel has more human heroes, or street level characters you could say, but that doesn't necessarily make them more relatable. Same thing with DC. Just because they're super powerful, it doesn't mean they're not relatable.
Agree with the other people here. It's not black and white. I relate a lot to characters like Stephanie Brown & Barbara Gordon on more of a street level but I can also relate to Supergirl with her just trying to find her place in the world. Marvel & DC are both great!

I’d definitely say the comics are pretty similar considering there are multiple authors that make different versions of each hero but the movies definitely go to marvel with the animated series going to DC
SO glad that Shang-Chi made its way into this video! I loved that movie so much, and there's no racial bias needed to make that statement even though I'm Asian myself. Marvel just has a way of making representation seem natural and not forced. This conversation is easily one of my favorites that Jubilee has made

For relatability, I think DC villains and anti hero’s are actually more relatable. That’s why we went crazy for joker, Harley, Cat-woman, the Riddler, Poison Ivy.

This is what I love about nerd culture, even if you love different things it still brings people together. That was my favorite thing about going to SDCC back in the day, yes you got to see cool comic stuff but mainly you made friends with other fellow nerds while waiting in line. It was the one time of year you could be yourself and connect with other nerds.

I absolutely love Marvel! The new DC movies aren’t really that great imo, but one of my favorite DC movies is The Dark Knight. I love that DC is darker and more vulnerable, that’s the only thing I wish the MCU could capture hopefully in an origin story
I completely agree. I would say I am definitely more of a Marvel fan but some of my favorite superhero films are DC. I am extremely exited for The Batman because we havent had that grungy, hero at their breaking point type film from Marvel I dont think ever. The closest we’ve seen to this is probably 2008s Hulk, which was multiple years before the MCU was even a thought.

I'm a huge DC fan (for my sins - yes, I loved BvS and I gloated about being right about ZSJL) 🤣 but I LOVED Netflix's Hell's Kitchen stuff (APART from The Defenders- which was an unmitigated disaster imo). 😊 But I thought Daredevil and Iron Fist were very well done! And I thoroughly enjoyed Luke Cage and Jessica Jones! In fact, Daredevil was so well scripted, I could swear it was written by someone from DC! Lol there's definitely something great on both sides I think 😀

These comics are not popular and definitely doesnt involve their main characters but sometimes do. It's just this torture genre only works well on human characters . the batman characters are so vulnerable so it's easy to create a long term story around them that is "dark" and popular because they are a main popular character everyone knows and they will always be depowered since they never had powers in the first place. Torture scenes and mental manipulation don't last as long in marvel like johhny storm being trapped in another dimension tortured and killed then resurrected only to be tortured again. Or that alien homeworld where you could be kept alive in a jar and mutant experimentation. Is it mainly the batmans stories that people like because theirs nothing like that that I know of in marvel comics so that could be the outstanding thing

Superman is and has always been my hero. He stands for what I believe is the best within us: limitless strength tempered by compassion, that can bear adversity and emerge stronger on the other side. He stands for what I feel we would like to be able to stand for when standing is hardest.
Same, that's why it kind of stung when they used Superman as an example for why DC is not as relatable as Marvel. Superman is probably the most relatable character. You can't use powers as a disqualifying factor because 90% of comic characters would be disqualified.

Honestly I love both of them, I've been brought up on both and I still love both. I don't understand people who refuse to watch the others and hate just because it's different. People who are in both fandoms really are getting the best of it.

Especially in the sense that he's an "alien" assimilating into American culture and traditions. Big relatable energy for immigrants, refugees and so forth.
Superman is the story of an immigrant living in a whole different continent trying to learn his true identity. An incredibly strong individual that, despite all his efforts, knows that he still has some sort of limits, and therefore dedicates himself to self improvement.
Clark Kent, superman's alterego, can also be relatable. In fact, Clark is shy, weak... basically everything that superman perceives has humanity's worst flaws.
Of course, he's OP, and may be the most impossible character to beat period, but he's sure a more complex and deeper character than what people might think of

When Martin Scorsese said Marvel wasn't cinema he didn't mean that they weren't good. He knows the effort it takes to make the movie, he appreciates the art form and understands why people love it.
The problem is that nowadays it's hard for movies that aren't in a franchise to exist. Which makes stand alone movies really hard to make.

I can relate to that. I love both Marvel and DC when it comes to comics, but if you ask me about the movies, I would say that MCU is better than DCEU.
DCEU movies are just worse than MCU movies. There is also a lot of things that you see in the movies that aren't really true to the comics. For instance, professor Hulk is way more powerful in the comics compared to the movies.

Exactly! Growing up, I didn't know about this rivalry. I liked DC characters mostly. I liked Spiderman too but had no idea he was Marvel. But now I'm a full on MCU fan and MCU has made me want to read Marvel comics. Meanwhile, Snyder and his DCEU movies are only driving me away from the franchise.

That term means the feeling of having films that are concept-grounded, and tell their stories in a less extravagant way. Which superhero films rarely do. Actually, DC Films are more "Cinema" than Marvel, especially the Dark Knight Trilogy.
