Yeah, but Antifa is a special kind of "anti facism" that uses violence to silence anything they deem facist. They stood out as the most violent protesters during the George Floyd protests but they have been active since way before then. Not really an organisation tho, more of an idea, or an attitude as an anti facist.
And they most certainly are active in europe as well, saying this as a Swede.
Antifa isn’t accurately defined as “anti-fascist”, they linger more along the lines of anarchists that are against the (in this case) American establishment.

Using violence to achieve yours goals is a part of fascism and people that do it are fascists. The person in the mask answering questions might call themselves an anti-fascist but they are actually a fascist because they operate exactly the same way fascists do.

They do, just not in their backyard. I find the idea of someone breaking into your home, mentioned halfway through the video, as an interesting hypothetical. The Antifa individual is against the police, so calling the police is out of the question. However, he’s also against guns, so defending yourself against a lethal threat with lethal force is out of the question. So… what? Let the person breaking in threaten you and your family? Try to use non-lethal which is generally less reliable, especially if the criminal has a gun? Try to use a knife even though knife fights never end well for anyone involved?
It seems to me like this guy has a lot of issues with society but proposes no alternatives.

I'm not agreeing with the clown in this vid, because police are absolutely necessary for our society. But we do live in one of the few countries on earth where an alternative to calling the police is possible. You're calling for guys with guns to save you, but instead you could be the guy with the gun and save yourself.
Have a gun in your house and defend yourself. There’s a solution without calling the police.
Police won't swoop in a save you but you do have a decent chance of getting justice when they find your corpse and start a investigation, you better learn to protect yourself.

As someone who has unfortunately had to call the police several times due to having a brutally physically abusive partner, I have no clue what I'd have done with being able to call 911. I don't know if I'd be alive today. I am against unbridled capitalism, though.

I think you missed the point. There are alternatives to the police, no one wants to take 911 away. But everytime you call 911 do you need an armed person to come to help you? Probably not. And besides, that was only one point in the whole video.
@@sillybirdy1994the point is though in a country as large and unwieldy as America, maybe every call doesn’t warrant an armed response, but any call COULD warrant an armed response. In the time the police take to arrive, or when they arrive, situations which didn’t appear lethal can quickly escalate. That’s the big issue: if we had social workers or counselors or unarmed officers showing up and then being stabbed or beaten themselves, and then they have to call the armed police to come and rescue them. It could potentially create a lot of unnecessary problems. It’s a somewhat naive, utopian understanding of human nature
The funny thing is if they had their way the police would be abolished but the rich would have private security. Then in about 6 months they would invent private security for all aka police.

All interactions I’ve had with the police.. including someone breaking into my home, police have been 0 help there’s still a need for them.. and there are helpful instances, but they could do a lot better.

He justifies violence when it has the purpose of preventing the spread of hate/bigotry/intolerance, he has a point. A tolerant world cannot exist unless it protects its own fundamental values of tolerance, peace and non violence, thus it needs to be intolerant towards intolerance.
antifa is meant to protect those underserved in the community. when people use their free speech as a way to promote hate, intolerance, or violence towards another group, antifa is only retaliating to protect the oppressed group. peacefully protesting has no promoted any change because in the end, the people using free speech to promote violence to oppressed persons are evil and do not care until the violence impacts them

@jeremytine 99% of the time the police are a response to violence if any. That or someone resisting arrest and in that case what are the police supposed to do? Oh you committed 4 felonies and have warrants out for your arrest because you're a menace to society and you don't want to go to prison? Oh okay well I guess if you resist we should just let you go.
As for the military that is murky water. The situation is unclear for a few reasons. I am in no way saying that the U.S military hasn't done absolutely fucked things by order of our government, and that goes for many militaries worldwide too. However if the U.S suddenly dropped the military altogether how long do you think it would be for China or Russia to capitalize on that and start something? It wouldn't take long. One major benefit of our military (while I think our military budget is much higher than it should be) is that it disincentivizes other nations from acting against your nation and thereby the interests of your people for their own gain or interests. Unfortunately we're far off from a world where military is obsolete.
