God, the 80s were on a different level when it came to movies.
And TV, and music, and most everything else.
That really all depends on when you grew up... my grandfather would say it's all crap😂
Back Before The Fun Stopped.👍
I was a child of the 80s and I wear that like a badge now, not just movies but music, TV, cartoons, and toys, and the practical special effects were not just ahead of their time but it's taken CGI nearly 30 years to look as convincing.
It was a comeback time, after cinema was pronounced mostly dead in the 60s/70s, due to TV being widespread and showing what once would be put on the screens.
But the special effects movies by Spielberg and Lucas, along with hard boiled action or crime darama like these changed the course again.
And they started to mix up genres that were more distinctly defined before - crime with action and comedy, science fiction and horror, adventure and fantasy …
Yes it was a great time for going to the movies again.
Dasha is on point with the 'that's what she said' jokes. 11:54 had me laughing for a good 15 seconds!
Hahahahahah...yes! That was one of the funniest things I have hear Dasha say...the timing was just perfect! 🤣😂🤣
me too, lol@@M3g4tr0n
I read the comments before I watched the reaction and still fell off my chair.
Dasha's "That's What She Said" Is Always On Point!!
🍻
I saw this movie back in '84 with my two older brothers with a packed theater. And everyone was laughing all the way through the movie.
I saw this movie on a first date when it was first released.
That was also the time I started watchig movies with friends in cinema (Gremlins, Ghostbusters, this one …)
I went to see it with two school friends, but at the cinema they decided to watch another movie instead.
I however stuck to my choice, didn't regret it. The other one I watched somewhat later on TV or VHS. ("Runaway" with Tom Selleck. Not much talked about today, is it?)
Later, when they got to see Beverly Hiils Cop, I was asked if there was a jump cut in the version I saw, too.
There was, because the head shot scene had been censored in my country, as we found out that way.
Despite his screwups, Billy had a couple of moments of real bravery, openly facing possible death to take out a couple of bad guys.
Hell yeah! Billy was a hell of a shot!
He comes out of his shell a bit more in BHC2
@@Cheepchipsablethat he certainly does
@20:47 In this scene, some people don’t realize that Billy had to wait for the right moment to go inside. If he would have gone in sooner, he would have been outnumbered and quite likely killed. If he’d gone in later, Axel would be dead. Billy was actually pretty smart with his timing.
@Dashareacts01-on-te--le-gram Are you the real Dasha?
I almost spit out my drink at "maybe im just hungry". love your videos.
Gilbert R. Hill, who played the boss of Eddie’s character Axel Foley, was a law-enforcement superior in real life, although he didn’t swear so much, unlike his Inspector Todd character.
Sadly Gil died in 2016.
Axel's character was based on Det. Hill's real experiences!
My uncle was a criminal defense attorney in Detroit when this movie came out. While he didn't know Hill on a personal level he did know him on a professional level and my uncle joked that he wasn't acting because that's pretty much how he was.
I worked for Gil Hill's mayoral campaign. He was such a warm person, generous of spirit. We all knew of the truly horrible things he had witnessed in his career, and were always amazed that someone who had seen such horror could always have such a hopeful outlook.
He has a rather famous quote from part 2 which was used against him at a press conference, and I just remember how jovial he was in his response. You'll have to watch the next movie to get the story though...
The Clerk that gave Axel the Banana's was Damon Wayans... BIG Comedian!
On the show Myth Busters they tested whether coffee grounds as well as many other odors would fool a police k9 into not smelling the "drugs" and it didn't work. The k9 found it every single time.
It's a movie, and a fun one at that.
They also busted the exploding shark from Jaws, alas. Still good movies though.
To be fair dogs might not be able to smell through ice much like a water in a river, if you look closely the drugs are packed in coffee and what looks to be dry ice. But I could be wrong.
doesn't mean that the drug smugglers didn't believe it and therefore try to use the technique
they didn't do it right.
Cute dog appearance ✅
"That's what she said"-joke ✅
Classic Dasha reaction ✅
Your dog is sooo cute! Love seeing them snuggling in a blanket on the couch behind you 😍
Beverly Hills cop series is sweet ... do it all!!
Boomerang and the Golden Child are funny AF too!!!
Its always fun watching you react. You have a great sense of humor!
Glad you had fun with this! I recommend "48 Hours." That was Eddie Murphy's first lead movie role. I actually like it more than Beverly Hills Cop. I think you'll enjoy it too. It's a crime thriller but there is a fair amount of comedy in it, supplied by Eddie.
Definitely agree with this, 48 hrs and Another 48 hrs are very fun movies.
BHC is more of a solo project, 48H is more of the classic double act. Nick Nolte is great in 48H.

"Lets call it the stopper for now!". 🤭
11:51 "How could you _not_ notice a man sticking a _banana_ in your _tail_ pipe?"
"😁 That's what _she_ said."
😆😆😆😆
One thing i liked about Jenny's character is that she isn't a love interest for Foley. In these movies the lady is always a love interest for the main character and really doesnt do anything for the plot, but here they are just close friends and she help Foley
Agreed!
📥🎄🎄🎉
“That’s what she said.” 🤣😂😅
📥🎄🎄
As we are now in the aera of 80s action comedy films, maybe "Red Heat" with Arnie and James Belushi would be a nice suggestion for Dasha to watch. Because... bad russian gangster stuff, you know?! ;)
*A $95 bath robe in 1984 would be like buying one for $287 in 2023.* That amount would buy you groceries for 3 weeks in 1984.
Dasha...your reactions to these movies is what makes them fun to watch
Oh man 😂 dasha really likes food mate 😂 also Hugo was in the background sleeping 😊 that's so cute
I love the first Beverly Hills Cop film. It has a great villain, film score, and song choice.
Martin Brest, the director of this, is great with blending comedy and really dark dramatic moments, and at the flip of a switch. He does the same thing in his next film Midnight Run...which is absolutely worth reacting to.
Eddie Murphy was a star before this film, but Beverly Hills Cop really launched him to super stardom.
"Midnight Run' is an awesome movie. Would love to see your reaction to that one, Dasha.
@@7thsealord888 Another thumbs up for Midnight Run, starring Robert De Niro, Charles Grodin, Dennis Ferrina, Yaphet Koto, and (from this movie) John Ashton. It is funny, serious, and action packed, an unjustly overlooked movie in YT reactions.
In my opinion, this is the best one of the 3 movies. Great flick, total classic. And we even got a "thats what she said" lol. Great reaction Dasha!
There was only 2 movies lol
@@KHAOE1 Nope, there were 3
@NerdJared I know...That's why I put "lol". 3 doesn't count. It was utter garbage.
@KHAOE1 ok thats fair...I did like it though
@NerdJared that's cool and I respect your opinion on it. People like what they like. I went on a date and saw this at the theater when it came out. My date even agreed that it was terrible.
Jonathon Banks also had one line in "Airplane!", and is in another movie with the cop Billy, (Judge Reinhold), called "Gremlins" which is a must watch too. Your patreons would vote for that I reckon.
Wow this movie is still awesome and funny! Eddie Murphy was in his prime! Dasha you had me rolling with your "That's what she said" joke!! 😂😂😂 You have hilarious timing! Great reaction I hope you watch the rest of the BHC movies they are just as funny! Luv ya Dasha ❤💛
internal combustion engines won't run if they can't expel their exhaust, ergo, bananas, a potato, etc. clogging the exhaust is effective, indeed. Harold Faltermeyer's theme song really helps make this film. The soundtrack won a Grammy. Yes, the '80s were a ton of fun.
📥🎄🎄
I love the music in these movies.
14:41 The SUPERCOP story Eddie Murphy kept improving the scene and kept making stuff up, so when you see Tagert rubbing his eyebrows, it's because he couldn't stop laughing.
I was going to post this as well. I knew there was a good chance someone would have beaten me to it so I checked the comments first 👍.
If you like this check out 48 Hours and Another 48 Hours!
(1:20) They didn't call Eddie Murphy "motormouth" for nothing. XD
14:49 Fun fact - The whole Supercop story was totally ad-libbed by Eddie Murphy so you can see Rosewood and Taggert trying their best not to laugh, Taggert especially. 😂
The whole Bevery HIlls Cop series is great. Some of my fave Eddie Murphy movies by far! Hopefully you get to check out the other Beverly Hills Cop movies at some point Dasha!
The original is the best of the series.
@@andrewq159 I like the sequel because he reunites with them again and they're all friends :)
You mentioned that Axel Foley was a person with creativity and imagination. In the United States, the technical term is "bullshit artist." Murphy was very good at playing those kinds of characters.
He's also similar to a 70's TV character Columbo, a beaten down blue-collar LAPD detective who dresses shabbily, smokes cheap cigars and acts like a clown but hides an exceptionally sharp mind used to get a criminal's guard down.
📥🎄🎄🎉
Two movies that are must watch specifically for Dash... Spies Like Us & Strange Brew. Both movies could be considered predecessors to Dumb & Dumber...
Its true even when a hotel is "full" theres always a room available. 1 is set aside for an emergency and sometimes theyre set aside for some kind of minor repair. If you ask theyll give you the room.
Great movie. Eddie Murphy was at his best in the 80s . You can skip the third one it is horrible but the second one is pretty great like the first one. Another great 80's movie of Eddie Murphy is the Golden Child. Fun Fact The movie was suppose to star Sylvester Stallone and he wanted to be darker but in the end Eddie Murphy took the role in the movie was made lighter. Sylvester Stallone took his movie ideas and created the action movie Cobra so you can check out this movie also and compare :) .
Doggie in the background! He moved around occasionally when he got confused over the smell of coffee grounds.
Victor Maitland's house at the end shootout was the same house Matrix invaded on Commando.
When I was young? This is one of the VHS tapes that I had along with Conan the barbarian and a sure thing.
@Dashareacts01-on-te--le-gram Are you from Nigeria?
Coffee is used by some smugglers/traffickers because its strong smell makes it more difficult to detect the drugs.
Every dog has its day 😄
We drove through BH in the 80s when we visited some family in LA. Like a fantasy land...
3:13 Right here, we've got this movie's _main theme._ When I first heard it, on the radio, in the '80's, it sounded like the most awesome music in the _world._ I had no idea what it was _from._ I just really _enjoyed_ it whenever it came _on._
It was not until the last few years that I heard it was the _Beverly Hills Cop_ theme. Initially, I thought, "Oh. You mean it's on the soundtrack. There are _several_ songs on the soundtrack and this is _one_ of them."
But then I watched the movie and discovered that, in fact, it _dominates_ the soundtrack. There are a _few_ other songs, at the very beginning and then this one plays over and _over_ again.
22:38 Yeah. Catchy, isn't it?
They missed one off the soundtrack and it took me quite a while to 'track' it down years later online - 'Nasty Girl' by Vanity 6 is the song playing in the club, when they foiled the robbery. I'm not surprised they left it off, considering the lyrics!
Great movie!
In the time it took me to watch this video, your number of likes nearly tripled. I've never seen that before. I hope you're well, Happy Hallowe'en!
Stallone had sense enough to pass on the movie, and he didn't hold them to any contractual issues. He could've really screwed them over money. Stallone wanted to make changes, but went off on his own with a cop movie called Cobra. There was quite a lot of improv in this movie. Eddie made many contributions. The scene between Taggert and Rosewood on the estate where they're trying to climb the wall, total improv on their part. Axel's boss was a real cop. Window tint laws vary by state. The coffee grounds trick is true, but dogs are now trained to sniff thru the coffee or other screening scent to find bombs or drugs.
📥🎄🎄
"What is this man doing sitting here ?" - "Bleeding sir !" - best line in the movie.
BH Cop 2 is great too. The third is dire. The second is by Tony Scott (Top Gun), Ridley Scott's brother and is VERY slick.
Just for reference Axel's room is $235 in 1985 which is $696 today.
Beverly Hills Cop 2 is just as good. Billy Rosewood is a fun character.
Eddie Murphy's "Axel Foley" character is basically Bugs Bunny....
Dasha you might also enjoy the Doctor Dolittle movies with Eddie Murphy, many comedians performing voiceover on the animals.
2:20 that's what she said 😅
(Honestly, how Dasha didn't call this one out is beyond me)
Great fun as always .... And Dasha!! That's what she said 😉😜🤣 banana in the tailpipe ...
📥🎄🎄🎉
I saw all three movies of BHC at the cinemas in Australia when I was a young man. They were all popular and box office hits too. I haven't seen them since. I suggest you watch a comedy movie; Trading Places with Eddie Murphy and Dan Ackroyd. You will also see a very young Jonathon Banks is in many movies from the 1980s. He is in Flying High (aka Airplane: 1980)
📥🎄🎄
The second and third Beverly Hills Cop films were written to be more comedic.
The first had dramatic scenes but comedic dialog. The 1987 and 1994 films had more comedic scenes, most of the comedy in the first film was improvised.
That's Damon Wayans at 10:54 another famous funny man!!!😄😄😄
lol @ Serge!
2:02 I think this scene's pretty silly. I mean, these guys are trying to have a _high-speed car_ chase with a _tractor-trailer._ And through city streets to _boot._ That _can't_ have been under the impression they were gonna get _away._
"That is what she said" :)
3:23 , hand brake : )
"this is a movie that you can watch and watch"
it might have been the case that i watched this movie... pretty much every day.. for about a year when i was a kid... it might or might not be the case.
stopper is called a handbrake
Handbrake, emergency brake, parking brake. With that old Nova, being an automatic transmission and a bench seat the parking brake was actually activated by a pedal on the far left.
The theme song to this movie is iconic.
📥🎄🎄🎉
No more movies for me unless I’m watching them with Dasha! She is the best ☝️
📥🎄🎄
Coffee has such a strong smell that it can overpower most other things. If you want to reuse a bottle and the original contents had a strong smell, you can fill it with coffee and let it sit for a day. Any previous odor is gone.
A couple of Eddie Murphy movies I think you would like that came out in the '80s or 48 hours and another 48 hours. Plus, I think you would get a kick out of the nutty professor movies that he did. I always enjoy your reaction, Dasha! Do you never fail to always put a smile on my face with your lively personality and sense of humor. Never stop!
Great soundtrack too.
The second one is great, too.
"Or maybe I'm just hungry again." Same, girl. Same.
Iconic movie, iconic theme song (one of, if not the best theme song). And an icon in the major role.
Btw you need to watch the rest of the movies coz they are a blast, and you see the development of Billy and Taggart as characters. Absolutely fantastic.
The theme, 'Axel F' was at number 2 in the UK charts and was around for quite a while. I recall 'Family Guy' used it in a flashback piece where he first met Lois.
Stallone wanted to take the movie in a more serious action thriller direction while the producers wanted an action comedy. Stallone kept suggesting changes to the script and eventually probably both parties figured it was better to part ways. Stallone then took his altered script and made the action movie Cobra. Which was certainly for the best; say what you want about Stallone, but a comedy actor he is not.
Well he did act in a few comedy films: Oscar and Stop! Or my mom will shoot.
@@BillyButcher90 exactly
Axel's "friend" Jenny didn't even care her boss had him thrown through a plate glass window. That's kind of ridiculous.
Detroit deservedly retains its bad reputation.
Stallone made his version of Beverly hills cop anyway. But he named it "Cobra" and it is AWEZOME!!
I drove through Beverly Hills in the 70s in a rusty Chevy van and got pulled over five times in ten miles. Beverly Hills it's a fine place if you don't look poor. That's kinda messed up too because think of all the tradesmen who work in those neighborhoods.
I was really hype to tell you that the villain in the restaurant was a young Mike from Breaking Bad. No need, I guess.
Otherwise, I don't know how you select movies you are reacting to but may I suggest two movies about or rather linked with Russia.
Dr Zhivago (1965) An other reactor did it and got 10k views, because it's a 3h17 minutes film, you can even split in two videos.
Eastern Promises (2007) a bit violent but enjoyable.
Billy is my favorite in this movie.
Pop-Pop gave Mikey a ‘pop pop’ in the back of the head😂
What a great upload 👏👏👏👏
You MUST watch number 2. Personally I think its even better than the first.
📥🎄🎄
Loving the reaction fun fact that I found out yesterday the house at the end of the movie was the same house that was in the movie commando
Eddie Murphy Is The Best 👍💯 & Great Reaction To One Of My All Time Favorite Movie's
Great Reaction Watch 48hrs another good movie
📥🎄🎄
2 is also good. 3 a bit of a let down. I don't know about 4. He was on SNL as a teenager 😮. His first movie was trading places and i dont think he was even 21! One of 3 movies that changed everything. Buddies, cops , sountracks, friends, racism etc, and eddie was in all 3. This, 48 hours, Trading Places! The art gallery guy was in True Romance, Risky Business, all this series and one of the best TV shows ever, perfect strangers! Hit man guy was in breaking bad! Cop boss in Total Recall and RoboCop!😮😮😮. The Mikey guy, body of film work is incredible. Young cop got started in the brilliant, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Eddie likes to start newcomers. Damon Wayons, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle got started in his movies, but all Eddie movies are highly watchable!
Not that you needed an improvement with looks but your hair cut is so nice.
FWIW….from this day forward a parking break will be “ the stopper” in my world
Great reaction Dasha! ❤
11:55
Hilarious!
10:54 _Hey,_ Damon.
I think this film does a great job getting you invested in Eddie Murphy’s friend before he gets popped.
Great reaction Dasha! You look so cute without your eye make up.❤ Check out Beverly Hills Cop 2 as well.
Dasha maybe sometime check out Eddie Murphy singing "Party All The Time". He did it in the 80's.
Eddie Murphy was definitely in his best in the 80s.
@17:10 In this scene, when Axel pushes Zack over the buffet table, Eddie Murphy’s stunt double bears an uncanny resemblance to Richard Pryor.
Eddie Murphy was in the movie "Tower Heist" with Ben Stiller.
One of my favorite movies ❤
📥🎄🎄
Beverly Hills Cop is just such a great movie to watch 👍
📥🎄🎄
I miss the movies from my childhood and teenage years❤
📥🎄🎄🎉
That's what she said 😂
80s and 90s movies were the best, the 2nd Beverly Hills Cop is good aswell, not so keen on the third one, Sylvester Stallone was so close to playing the Eddie Murphy role of Axel Foley but left the project few weeks before filming
