You opened up a never ending rabbit hole. TOOL is simply the best rock band around these days. No question about it. Spiral out!
Every Tool song I hear is my favorite Tool song. Dont challenge my logic
Facts.
I understand.
I was literally asked that question once by a co-worker who was introduced to Tool by myself. He asked: "What's your fav. tool song?" I answered, "The last one that I listened to."
Beginning your Tool journey on Lateralus is like trying to solve calculus before learning basic algebra, haha. Enjoy the rabbit hole of Tool!
"Spiral" out is our, the Tool army's way of saying, keep listening to Tool. They will be your favorite band before long.
You just witnessed the greatest band ever. TOOL does not have a bad song. Much of their music never made the radio. It was either censored for lyrics or the songs were just too long to get all the commercials in.
Great choice for first Tool track. I call them the Pink Floyd of metal. Best band in the world that's still making music.
Being fully of the classic rock era, I was gobsmacked the first time I heard Tool about two years ago I was captured first by the complexity of the rhythms, the unusual chord progressions, the excellence of the drumming and then the deepness of the lyrics. I would call Tool progressive metal if I had to pick a genre but I believe they are pretty much unique… with roots in Sabbath, as most metal does, Rush, with complex rhythms, deep lyrics like Floyd, Yes and Zeppelin, with their use of light and shade…softness and heaviness. Suggestions:Schism, THE Pot, or LIVE version of Sober, which is performance art And yeah, you always want to have the lyrics available to you. And NEVER react to official videos as they are very strange and complex and distract from the listening process
I could not agree more. I'm 59 and love all the bands you mentioned. The more I listen to Tool and dive into Maynard's lyrics, the more they have become my favorite band of all time.
@@jaydale9097 I’ll never get to that point because honestly I’m too old to listen to more than 3 songs of theirs in a row. They are just too intense. Very demanding to listen to for me. I praise them to the skies but they don’t sit comfortably with me. And my favorite bands are ones I can listen to a whole album without medical assistance. 🙄😜
Dead spot fucking on! Do not watch the videos but do you have the lyrics queued up. Seen them live three times. Once in 93 or 94 in Orlando and then again in 99 I think in Orlando and then just last month in Orlando. Been a fan for 30 years now. Enjoy the ride!
Well said
If you're serious about going down this road, start from the beginning and just enjoy the journey. Tool is an experience like no other! You will find satisfaction like never before.
If you plan on continuing your Tool journey, I'd suggest Parabol+Parabola off the same album. Parabol is the intro track to Parabol and should be listened to together.
Just do the whole album in order.
That cover is actually printed on a 6 page transparency booklet like those at the middle of old medical books. The image is composite from all of the pages, in layers from energy to body to spirit.
The holy grail of all Tool songs
Alex Grey's the artist of the cover art he's Pretty cool.
subbed for more Tool.
I grew up in the 70 and love all the greats Floyd Rush Zepp Sabbath And to me Tool is a mix of them all taken to another level They are one of the best I rarely put them on as background music I like the experience them with headphones And thats what happens with Tool you experience there music After ther songs most reactions are WOW dont know where they just took me but i Love it Im with you on this ride big time
Yeah,,one thing Tool is NOT is background music. I have to take them in small doses because they are so intense
I would go with forty-six & 2 for your next tool reaction, then The Pot
1,1,2,3,5,8,13
Black 1
And 1
White are 2
All I see 3
In my infancy 5
Red and yellow then came to me 8
Reaching out to me 5
Lets me see 3
I read once about the evolution of the eye and the theory is that the first creatures only saw light and dark. Then they slowly developed the ability to see the full spectrum of colors.
If you wanted to overthink and overanalyze things that is.
The Fibonacci sequence... keep growing... in all aspects of ur life/being... spiral out.
SUBSCRIBED for TOOL. KEEP THEM COMING.
Other top Tool songs to react to:
The Pot
Pneuma (live drumcam)
Sober (live, old video)
46 and 2
Schism
Aenima
I love this band. It's my top band. I have been lucky to have seen them twice before. And this may 23rd May. In London. X
The best TOOL song is the next TOOL song.
Let's go down the Tool rabbit hole. Try "The Pot" next! Spiral out, man!
He listens to the best song to start. At this point well any other tool song with up. Now I’m just kidding this whole album is amazing
I’ll come along on this ride. I love watching Tool rookies discover the greatest band to ever exist.
Look these up:
Fibonacci sequence
Fibonacci numbers
Golden Ratio
Golden Spiral
Phi

You’ll realize this song is baked with the essence of the universe. Listen to the song again and ride the spiral. It may just take you where no one’s been.
To me, there are some Tool songs that give me the idea they are actually writing about their own experiences as a band. This is one of those songs. To me it's a way they communicate where they are as a band. To me this song kind of depicts how they are evolving as a band. Their song "Invincible" echo's these same ideas to me. The lyrics and song to me tell me of someone trying to stay on top and but fighting that thing called age and time but stilling having what it takes to get it done. You can really read a good many different feelings from their lyrics, and really to be honest, everyone interprets it in their own way. This is just my interpretation of this song and some others.
This is my favorite song of all time
💯. For over a decade now, and I don't think it will ever be topped. 🙌
It's always a treat to see someone's first experience with Tool. You, sir, are in for a helluva ride.
Gotta do The Grudge by Tool. The longest held scream EVER!
As others said, I too come from a classic/prog rock youth. Back in 1993, I had a DJ friend who'd get new music sent from friends in the US (I'm Canadian). He couldn't use it, not his thing. He figured I might like it. It was "Undertow". I loved it. Totally different. I have not been disappointed since. Every album has been somehow better. Enjoy the ride.
Tool- The Pot next
Or if you want to hear the longest scream….ever..…check out Tool-The Grudge
In my opinion this song is the definition of progressive metal
You are fixing to experience a great journey ,Tool will take your breath away ,enjoy!..😁
Great review & reaction!..👍😎
THE GRUDGE. 🤞✌
#Parabol/Parabola would be a superb second tool experience. It's two songs in a suite
Pro tip: go back to the beginning and do all their songs start to finish. The #ToolArmy will guide your journey along the way and your subs will explode. #SpiralOut
Your def better listening to their albums from start to finish. It puts the songs into context. Similar to Dark side of the moon.
We all need some more Tool in our lives
Spiral! It's the Fibonacci
For "Harder/Deeper" Maynard voice, listen to the "Opiate" or "Undertow" albums.
Listen to it again and try to focus on one instrument at a time. This is really a masterpiece in all aspects, drumming, bass, guitar, the voice, the lyrics.
Swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human, for me is..
To understand that life and humanity itself is divine.
I'm going to go with... No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age. Dave Grohl did drums for them in that song, which, bonus!
Opiate, off their 1st Ep. Not to be confused with Opiate2. Their first full length album is undertow.
BRO TOOL is my GENERATIONS PINK FLOYD.
Peace friend!
🤘🇨🇦✌️
subbed for this man, life changer right here
This song to me is all about personal growth. Excellent reaction would like to see more. Start with the opiate EP and sweat first track and go from there down the rabbit hole
TOOL is PROGRESSIVE ROCK.
Recommend you check out Tempest, Descending, The Grudge, vicarious, 46 and 2, Stinkfist and Jimmy, and sober to start your Tool journey.
Welcome to the journey that is Tool. I suggest The Pot, Schism or Descending for your next reaction. Spiral out brother 🌀
SUUUUUBBED, and waiting for a weekly Toolsday lol 😂👌
These are are a heavy pink floyd. X
My friend the message of this song is so profoundly complex in its simplicity and that it is all around you inside and out as to an extent that's unimaginable pulling at your awareness to observe it and make that connection that is the same to you as you are to the connection of you feelings a s emotions throughout your existence as you percive the beauty of the universe bare and in truth appreciate yourself for reflecting its beauty through the conduit which is your system that's is your own desired function without even having to focus your thoughts upon it. Sorry I took that way too far into my own combined perception.... of course my own interpretation and regardless if the band even knew it at the to time or now it's their place in the universe calling out to them..... Truth
Sorry if that is not understandable but in reality, language will never be a viable way to relay that Devine truth into a clean and understand thought ..........
To shorten and summarize my opinion is that the meaning behind that spiral out message is to let go and feel the flow of your existence so that you reach out beyond the limitations of our human perceptions and allow your conciousness to finally observe and feel the truth that we are all so much more than the illusion of this physical shell
I could almost follow... almost. I read it twice.
peace.
Everyone excepts this song to be hard as fuck but it’s light and trippy instead. And perfect. 🌀
The eyebals to me resembled the depiction of biblically accurate Angels. Eyes covering these inter-connected rings that move, and the light emitted form the Angel is a flame that burns every color.

**best Joe Rogan voice*** “have you ever done DMT?”
DMT? No no... You'll do too much... and freak out. and probably die! someone should call the cops!!!
Just kidding man, Sorry.
DMT is the greatest, most beautiful thing I've ever seen... It is also "non-toxic". and an indole derivative like psilocybin and mescaline, I've heard.
Peace be upon you, sir.
@@primateinterfacetechnologi6220 and also upon you, friend
You must do Leonard Cohen..
I hope you went deeper down the meaning behind the lyrics and also how the syllables represent The Fibonacci Sequence, which is all about Spirals.
As someone who loves Tool, and musicals, and Disney, and Beatboxing (shout out SwissBeatbox!), and Pentatonix -- it's VERY odd that I found my people here lol. I've been playing catchup so idk if you've done this Tool song yet but: 46 and 2
Wow!! So we really hit the nail on the head here for you lol!
@@SalvoG right? and what a fkn bizarre mix too hahaha
Subbed for more Tool please
New catalogue you say. May i recommend opeth and gojira along with tool that should give you summit tasty to chew on
Fresh meat for the grinder eh folks
People have difficulty putting Tool in a genre. They are progressive aggressive psychedelic metal.
Sweat.Go to the begining. Then spiral out.
Just a warning, sweat always gets blocked (it was used in a movie). So you might have issues uploading it
Please reacts yo 7empest of tool
800 fibinacci comments
Better than 112,358 of them...
Sometimes I wish they would have gone with a different name for the band. It throws a lot of people who would love their music. They never give the band a chance because they think it’s going to be, as one friend describe it to me as, “chugga chugga chugga” music. They’re some of the most skilled musicians/artists in the world but people see the dick wrench T-shirt and think they have them figured out.
Lackluster reaction.
Newbies try The Pot or Sober first. Don't bite off more than u can chew. Not criticism...just an observation.
TOOL is better than your favorite band. 👍🏽😉
Enjoy the journey my friend! FYI , don’t watch the music videos, they are freaking weird and ruin the music, they have nothing to do with the songs. Stick with lyric videos
