I came here from the Alphabet Superset challenge. This is fascinating, thank you for sharing it Lily. I love your attention to the detail that makes you, you.
This was incredible! could you go over in another video how you added the little peach fuzz hairs on the face. That really went a long way in selling the realism.
Hi, peach fuzz comes with all metahumans. It's a groom asset that shows up in the metahuman blueprints in Unreal as part of the higher levels of detail. Hope that's helpful to you.
Does that also include the incredibly realistic eyes that she has achieved? Mine look far less detailed / realistic in the metahuman creator window. Wondering how that is achieved. @@cgrah1086
Liked and Subscribed! I just built my first metahuman before finding this tutorial and I wish I'd known about this blender plugin! My process was polycam - download and import fbx file to blender - get rid of all excess pixel and just keep the face - import that to unreal engine - make sure metahuman plugin was enabled - and made sure the mesh/materials matched up - uploaded/imported to metahuman, then used metahuman's modifiers to make the skin, freckles, etc. I'm currently now rigging glasses to my metahuman in unreal engine. I can't find any good free glasses models though. Anyway, LOVE this video, it's very inspiring because I just learned how to do all this within the last few months. I'd be happy to share my current work/progress with you as well! Also, I'd love an even more in depth break down of the animation part of the video. I wish Live Link was available on Android, I'm using a pixel 8 pro so there's no reason I should have to buy an iphone (no offense to iphone users here).
That is very impressive! You are really very good. The result is not 100% but 1000% perfect. I'm excited when I can watch your next video. I just subscribed to your channel. Keep it up.👍
Gah, I wish we could see more footage of the final result in action (talking, looking around in different directions, perhaps different hairstyles, etc.). I mean, what we do get to see looks incredible, but it's so fleeting.
Wow! Your character creation with AI is absolutely incredible! For full body animation (while maintaining the idea of an AI workflow), you could utilize Cascadeur, a free AI-assisted keyframe animation software. Keep up the impressive work! 🌟
Mesh to Metahuman has been around for a while now, AI should only be used as a tool integrated into the engines we use to empower us further to compete against the big corps.
Hey I know your intentions are in the right place with regards to speading knowledge about the sanctity and importance of artists coming first. And that's very, very much appreciated, but just so you're aware, the process you've done here doesn't in fact use A.I. It is an algorithmic process in unreal that streamlines unwrapping images onto a pre-existing base mesh by utilizing image data points or "markers". Thank you for sharing your workflow these tools are great and really useful for everyone.
still trying to figure out where AI is used Meta human Creator has been out way before AI. While I don't know your intentions but i assume you would like to spread knowledge like any content creator I would just caution that using the term AI, in this case, can be viewed as more as clickbait for the title, and the RUclips algorithm it is really easy to research tools and understand whether its programming or AI and also when Ai is used does not mean something was stolen thus the need for a disclaimer. Meta human creator is an automated way of making photos real characters but this is no different than using a piece of software like topo gun to speed up the retopo process. Its a tool. We have to work on educating each other as artists so that we use the right terms and understand new tech and not re-label tech incorrectly. With that said keep it up keep posting workflows .. just wanted to set the record straight some artists would be turned off to this just hearing the use of the term AI so want to make sure we paint the tech in best light possible
1. AI is a more than 60 years old field, machine learning is older than personal computers and the internet. 2. Epic trained neural nets (cough, cough, "AI!") to dynamically blend geometry between tons of real people they scanned. When you "sculpt" in MH creator you are actually using AI to get something between all those real humans. This is why the trick to quickly make a monster by moving all sliders to maximum common in video games does not work here.
Question: Do you enjoy the process of working with AI, setting up parameters and clicking generate? For me personally it’s taking away the part where I feel like “I” have achieved something myself. it feels like too big of a quick fix/cheat to be truly proud about. A bit similar Like rotoscoping animation, then pointing at it and say, “look what I’ve made!” It starts to feel more like copy pasting in a productional kind of way to get stuff done in the best way possible as fast as possible. Yes it’s still artistic in a way, but less and less impressive to be actually proud about. Personal opinion. Ps. great video and very well explained. : )
27 minutes something like. The ai part Is where She speaks about the metahuman performance, built in ai that make your face retargeting very much easier and funny.
@@loelfolio It's explained in the facebuilder official blog. They use the same projection epic uses for metahumans (I guess they didn't use "metahuman" name because of trademark?). Thanks for putting this together! Initially thought this would be even more complicated, but after your tutorial am a little less intimidated. Just curious, what graphics card is in your rig? Thanks again Lily!!
Hmm. But, don't you think it would be a lot easier to just set up a camera and take video? I don't see the point, unless she still wants to appear inane and rebellious when she hits the wall. Seems like a lot of work to achieve something achievable with one click.
Hello, my sincere congratulations for such an excellent job, a very precise tutorial and with a lot of value, I wanted to take this opportunity to ask you if you do freelance work to create custom metahuman, I need to make one that is like a specific person, I have made several attempts but I think I do not have the artistic vision that you have and it frustrates me a little. I also don't know what the budget for this type of work can be, I don't have much, do you do this type of work?
Hiya! A lot of the skin material that makes it look so realistic is using the default settings in the metahuman blueprints. I only adjusted the basecolor channel so I could add my freckles and skin details. For better results try playing around with the subsurface scattering values in the blueprint, there are a couple of tutorials online :D I'm definitely going to try creating other people, so stay tuned!
