The first film adaptation of Stephen King's novel Pet Sematary came out in 1989 and included a lot of references more obscure points in the novel and other Stephen King works and teased at one big thing left out from the book.
In this video I'll breakdown some things you missed in Pet Sematary. This analysis will include easter eggs, explain how the most shocking scenes were foreshadowed (including the ending), discuss how the mythological Wendigo was teased at but not shown, talk about some of the differences between novel and movie and why they are important, break down some of the symbolism and color motifs established by director Mary Lambert and show how this fits into Stephen King's universe as a whole.

The reason Ellie is seeing and hearing ghosts is because she has "the shine" from the shining, think about it, people only gain the shine by traumatic events, and that event being gage dying in front of her eyes. That's why she can see and hear pascow, and she can see into the distant future.

Something else that's worth a mention. There's symbology to the part when Gage slices Jud's mouth. When I was younger and watched the movie, I thought it was weird that he didn't slice his throat and went for the mouth. Of course later I realize it was because of the fact that Jud opened his mouth and told Louis about the evil at the burial grounds. Gage was basically shutting his mouth for him.

I feel terrible for Gage, he’s so little and so innocent. Every time I watch his death scene(s) it brings tears to my eyes. Just like how a storm brings just a small bit of water to an ocean of sadness.

I was genuinely sad when I first read the book and Gage died. Then I wanted him dead again by the end of the novel.

The original Pet Sematary is seriously one of my favorite movies ever. I'm surprised he didn't mention anything about that weird claymation face that materializes out of a pile of rocks when Louis is carrying Gage to the burial ground.

I always took the "soil of a man's heart" quote to mean men are not always taught to show emotion properly and sometimes the love a man has can grow twisted and stunted, misshapen, but to him it is still precious because it is all he has.....

So many things terrified me in this movie! Those trucks, Zelda, Tommy, that fight at Gages funeral, the maids hanging, the Micmac cemetery and lots more. I love this movie! I watch it today and it's like I'm watching it for the first time, it never gets old and it never will. Classic. They don't make movies like this anymore.

That part with Gage getting hit fucks with me so bad. I personally cannot watch this movie anymore after having a little boy myself. I guess it's sort of an irrational fear. Now the second one I can watch though.

IMHO the actor who played Gage was to adorable too be a convincingly evil zombie.

This film is quite emotional for me. I've seen it so many times, I can probably recite the script by heart.

I know he's a good ghost, but Pascow scared the holy hell out of me. The part where he was in the door and then at the side of the bed, shudders.
