LOOKS AWESOME. I know the three of you have done this many times and I’m the same way, when I start putting things back together I can picture in my head what goes where and how it came apart but I’m still a big fan of taking a bunch of pictures before and during the disassembly. Not that critical for customizing but frame off like I did it was a huge help. GREAT JOB EVERYONE.
Chad and Jolene , It's great to see Team Hiltz back in the shop working on the reassembly of the Ford Shoebox and the Hudson Terra Plane. Your valiant attempt at cleaning the stainless steel and chrome stripping is a minor setback . Which can be resolved with some minor re-chroming . I's wonderful see Nate installing the neat looking shifter kit . in the Hudson.. Once the Kit is installed it should work well with automatic transmission , but also keep the originality of this classic sedan
Why are you worry all of sudden about how the accessories look. You started with the idea that you weren't going to do much to the car except painting. And you would be satisfied with reassembling the the chrome pats the way they are. NOW that you did great work on the body & fantastic paint job your trying to make it into a show car. IN MY OPINION THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN!!! Just put it together and enjoy the ride.❣❣❣❣🐕
Chad, the effort you put into the body work has paid dividends, the car looks as straight as a razor and the darker color paint showcases your work. The paint looks awesome, and it has a highly reflective surface. Although I personally think it would have looked better with the upper half of the car from the upper body line painted a creamed coffee color for contrast. This of course is just my humble opinion and I respect what you and Jolene have chosen to do. I can't wait to see the car reassembled. With the quality of the bodywork and paint I hope you go the extra mile and put a nice set of chrome mags on it I think it would really make the car pop. You know that wheels, rims and stance can make or break the looks of a car. I heard you discussing with the boys about putting a caramel interior in the car. I think you guys hit the nail straight on and hope you follow through with that color choice. Glad to see Nate back in the shop working his magic, he's a very knowledgeable asset to have in a shop. Polishing compound and a buffing wheel will bring back the luster of the chrome/stainless.
Hey Team Hiltz is in the shop, it is nice to see Nate back everyone has been missing him! Chad maybe you could try some chrome polish to brighten the hood ornament back up. The car looks so good it looks like your having trouble with putting the chrome back on now in the shape it is in! Doug your the man working outside on the trim. I don't know how cold it is there but in Wisconsin we are back down in the 30F's and it feels cold after having some 70F weather. Nate that shifter is going to look really good in there it almost looks like the factory shifter! Jolene nice camera & video work as always you do such a great job. That was a nice shot of Fina that you got when you let her back in!
Hey Guys If ya gonna go as far as a rechrome you should check out the different stages of chroming, you might like the copper coat or the nickel coat I just thought either would really pop with the brown… just a thought you can also buy a kit of paint that has a couple of processes that will turn your parts in to chrome right in front of your very eyes, it’s great stuff
I detail cars, no wire wool, tin foil or old school ideas. So says VP Mothers, we always start with the weakest option first. Any quality chrome product, Autosol has high cut. White Diamond, Mothers Meguiars Mag Chrome. Any ratio of that Alu Brite seemed too strong, may high strength TFR will dull diamond cut rims over time. It may come back a bit...we all make these mistakes it is easy to do.. The car is looking good plus that paint great depth plus clarity.
Dennis Carpenter sells brand new complete grill assembly for the 50 Fords, I think that Shoebox Central does also. As nice as that car turned out it would be a shame not to give it a brand new grill.
That is not what this RUclips channel is about. Bad Chad made this RUclips channel famous by building cars with things that are laying around and he’s sticking to it even though he has much much money now !! That why I watch this channel because Chad is just one of the guys and doesn’t go around buying new stuff to make cars look better because anyone can do that !!!!!!!
He descubierto hoy tu canal… y ya me he hecho seguidor..!!! I'm an 80 yr. old artist in Florida, really appreciate the tremendous creativity Chad puts into his work, also like the way Chad shares his philosophy of approaching life and his projects. Watching him fit that 1st fender skirt when he had to push it up in the wheel well with all that new paint...WHEW! Thanks for making and sharing these great videos.
Note to Chad: Always do a little test spot on a piece of chrome when you use a chemical product on it, to see how it works. I never just put the whole piece in a tub of the chemical product, just in case it eats away at it, or does cosmetic damage.
We had a product called Ali in the 90's not good on paint... Our ratio of chemicals has to be correct on paint plastic ect or damage will be caused..that test spot is recommended.
You know after you acid bath that chrome you have to polish put a coat of polish on it like mothers or never dull or both or it will rust fast I used to polish my semi lots
That valence strip at the lower end of the grill that Doug is working on is not chrome, it's stainless and they polish out very well with fine compound.
Should never put and chromed pieces in any kind of Chemical, even bleach. Soap water and chrome shine with a buffer should be sufficient. Should you be tempted in the future, take the chemical and place a quality and cheap scanner into it and leave for a time. testing the water is better than off the cuff spare of the moment decision and regret. Most Chemicals will always take away the shine and dull the piece. As for the car well what can be said! it sure is looking great. Can't wait to see it in the final stage. Done finished and complete. Still a ways to go, but hay ho the great effort by all has surly paid off.
Hey all! Great to see Nathan back! Really love the paintjob , I think the beige would really complement this beauty! Looking smarter everytime you add the chrome parts! tc Stay healthy all!
On the chrome use a buffer and chrome polish and a mini buffer if available. There all a polishing compound that comes formed in a green bar. Excellent product I no this because I work in a chrome shop. Thanks.
Chad, The car is looking good. I'm thinking after you and Doug shine the chrome ROCK GUARD would look good on the back side of those bumpers. Hide the rust and such.
Lol the look on Nathan's face when he bumps the shifter against the A-piller at 1:30 time priceless. Awesome job car is looking great. Love your work Chad
Chad, are you sure the trunk hinges arent backwards? Meaning the natural shape of the car would say the curves or small side would be to the outside. You got em the bigger side or slanted in, where as the body lines would say the smaller side of hinge towards outside. In other words you got the left and right hinge backwards. u got the left one on right side visa versa
Seriously did turn out beautiful. I think I’d even love the color I think Jo laying down a wonderful job picking the color I want to give her 110% on that carpet.
I’m 99% sure you already know this, but just in case…… triple 0 steel wool will remove the rust and bring that chrome back to life. Short of re-chroming it’s the best thing I have found. Removes overspray from windows too.
You can use Kitchen foil and WD-40 to clean chrome, works great without causing any further damage. Good to see Nathan back working with the team and the car is looking awesome.
Surprised he doesn’t have some polishing wheels to throw on a bench grinder, would make all the chrome an stainless come back to life sooo fast an easy
Well, I must say, for a fairly quick build you guys knocked this one out of the park! AND I'm even getting used to the color, I could go with a Carmel interior, look VERY rich!!!!!
Hi Chad And Jolene, try this trick for bring your chrome work back to life. Get some tin foil/baking foil and roll it in to a fist size ball. Spray a little water on the chrome then start rubbing the area with the ball of foil. You be amazed at how it starts to restore the chrome. PS the car is looking great. Phil
Nice to see team Hiltz is complete again, the Ford looks awesome ,I had to laugh a bit because it turned out all the people commenting of Chad sanding with the DA were proven to be wrong again ,it's straight as an arrow, thumbs up
Listening to Chad talk on my headphones while I'm working on my computer. I recently became aware of the ASMR phenomenon. And I realized that listening to someone talking in a low voice directly and continuously in your ear is very soothing. And probably addictive. Explains the popularity of this channel. Oh, and my vote is for a peanut butter-coloured interior. Like a Reece cup.
The brown on this car looks so great;it really shows off the curves and the body parts that you added/modified. A mix of cordovan red/buckskin tan and lime green, tri-tone interior would be the bomb!
If I may make a color suggestion for the interior . A lime green or pastel green would make the interior look great and stand out . I've seen those on the 50s Fords including Thunderbird . I'm a 1952 model myself LOL .
Sweet. The touch of the Masters Hand. One might say a group of friends gathered in a cave. Groovin. Another Lovely ride, for a Sunday morning cruise- to the beach.
@BadChad Great ride! Little tip, ☆☆Never Dull works great when taking rust buildup on chrome parts!!☆☆ ALSO Brasso does a good job with the same problem. I really like the color on this body shape.
Chad and Jolene , It's great to see Team Hiltz back in the shop working on the reassembly of the Ford Shoebox. I have in the past brought back chrome bumpers on my 55 Buick using mineral spirits (paint thinner) and 0000 steel wool . just a heads up didn't know if you tried it!!!!
That's why I don't like having doors/trunks/hoods off the car when they get painted. I have seen too many where the paint doesn't quite match. There are a lot of variables even temperature and humidity when the paint gets sprayed that can affect the color. Fingers crossed it all matches out in the sun.
We used to use SOS pads to clean Chrome and Stainless Steel. You might try it on a junk piece to see how it works. I love what you and the group do. Rick
I'd give it a nice pinstripe ( matching interior color) jobber, possibly with a skosh of variegated turned gold leaf with a tiny von dutch style "Bad Chad" enamel cartoon logo somewhere and some Coker fat whitewalls. Either that or enamel letter "The Shit" to match the paint color somewhere on it😂. But...whatever you do, don't put any peanut chunks or corn kernel chunk pictures on it.
Must say that Jim is so entertaining hope he can get his lake sorted, you all might need to help him sort out the drain ! Looking forward to another funny episode on that one ,looking in from Sydney .
A headlight, or maybe a yellow fog light, in the center of the front bumper would look badass. I'm not a fan of the late-model wheel center cap someone added that Doug removed. The car is absolutely beautiful!
Nice to see Nate back on the Job, Car looks even better for some reason. Chad, maybe, YOU should see you if can purchase and new grill and front end pieces, maybe you can find one for a reasonable price.
You may enjoy watching some Robby Layton videos. He is a premier body person and quite fun to watch. If I remember correctly he uses a product that helps with scratches and other glass issues.
Long time waiting to see this happening but SO WORTH IT! Please don't listen to all the interior suggestions until we've seen the car outside in the sun. Yes, the sun will shine again in Nova Scotia! We just had 5 days of sunshine & 70 degrees in Washington State!
I like how you just go with the flow when issues come up. Worries and hurries just create problems Remember, a car's paint job is never really finished until after it gets it's first ding from a shopping cart at the grocery store.
You could use your chrome over it it would look bad ass or buff the chrome with wax put a clear cout on it or or prime the chrome do it all in black it would look nice in black

so happy to see the excitement in Chad, the car turned out beautiful - while i didnt like the color when u opened the can, it is amazing! hope u go to the tan leather for the interior. Hopefully we can get the Bugatti painted now!! Thanks!
Hope you close the side door to the big shop a reindeer might get in see it's reflection in all the cars and start a rumble with each one of them especially if it's mating season. So much for all those paint jobs. Oh well says the Dunkin' donut cook,, time to make the donuts..
Good morning just a suggestion I would have sprayed the door handles and the boot hinges gloss black as the chrome does not look as good as black would have been against the bronze colour

Jolene is right on the dark green interior. Give it an earthy color pallet, the cream/caramel (lighter browns) is too obvious.
Would love to see some more work on The Bug
Just go ahead and spray the whole grill and all the other chrome black it will look a 100% better

Don’t forget the loose wheel lugs under the skirts! Please do not forget them!
Looks like someone poured milk chocolate on the car yummy 😂😂😂😂
so happy to see the excitement in Chad, the car turned out beautiful - while i didnt like the color when u opened the can, it is amazing! hope u go to the tan leather for the interior. Hopefully we can get the Bugatti painted now!! Thanks!
You can see Jolene in the reflection of that chocolate brown paint.Looks good enough to eat.😊
Chad you should do the seats that old roughed up brown leather look like that comes in the Ford king ranches
Love the teamwork, but we need more Jolene on camera.
16 inch Cragers all day for this car... Deep dish too!
to bring the chrome back try a small buffing wheel with a ploishing grit fine will help
