Jazz clarinetist Doreen Ketchens plays her dream gig

- Doreen Ketchens is an institution in New Orleans, where the jazz musician performs at the intersection of Royal Street and St. Peter, affectionately known as "Doreen's Corner." When "Sunday Morning" senior contributor Ted Koppel interviewed Ketchens in 2022, she stated her dream was to play the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. This month she got her wish, and "Sunday Morning" was there.

I was just in New Orleans the beginning of May and I saw her!!! Then this morning I’m watching Sunday Morning and there she is! I took a picture and video of her and her band. I will keep it forever!!!

Certainly Wynton Marsalis, a New Orleans native and managing/artistic director of Jazz at the Lincoln Center, knows about Ms. Doreen and has tried to get her there. Certainly! Certainly. If not, I may have to challenge him to a duel next time I see him.

Oooh man, I couldn't pass up commenting. This was so refreshing to see after all the things we all be through. It just gives us a little more hope and strength to pull through.
She has been doing this for her whole life, starting with classical training and then gigging in NOLA for decades, day after day after day after year after year after year. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what an "overnight success" looks like.
