For some reason, my parents would get me and my siblings presents on Easter Sunday (“First Fruits” if you’re fancy). This bad boy was waiting for me one early spring morning by an unlit gas fireplace. Good times.

@@aa-jf5gu I think JaWa meant a set of jabba's palace based of episode 6, with 2012 Jabba, his men and maybe slave Leia, since Disney seems to have stopped putting out products related to her and some other Jabba stuff.
This is a dream set for me. I'd love to display it with Jabba's Message and Jabba's Prize and put it next to the 2012 Jabba's Palace and Rancor Pit. There's just something so charming about these older sets.
So Ryan I have seen a pattern in your recent review videos. You reviewed two sets, the hoth battlepack and the at st and after these reviews it was announced that remakes of these sets are coming in January, so I hope that this means that we will get some sort of jabba's palace in either playset or 18+ form (probably from the book of boba fett).
Imagine if the LEGO designers planned ahead and found an interesting technique to create a Rancor figure along with this set back in 2003! That would’ve easily made this set impressive…most impressive!
Ryan, this was awesome! These reviews are like a time machine, going back to the old days, years ago when LEGO Star Wars was just so full of content and great sets. I’m excited to see what else is to come whether it is Star Wars or any other old theme.
I remember building the new Jabba's palace as a kid, and just wondering: "why no Rankor?" Then, we got the Rankor pit that fits perfectly underneath it, and I was so happy.
My brother and I pulled our money together and tried buying this on eBay when we where kids with our Dads help. Unfortunately he told us we got outbid and lost the set to someone else. BUT on my brothers 7th birthday in 2005 he opened up his first present and it was Jabba's Message, the second present was Jabba's Prize, and lastly his third gift was Jabba's Palace! He(we) where so excited! It still his the center piece of of lego starters display in our childhood bedroom at our parents house.
I had to stop myself from posting that the hand is inaccurate since he has a robot hand at this point, but then I remembered how he had it covered in a realistic manner to look like a real hand at this point in the movie. So this was actually some very good attention to detail. As opposed to Obi Wan with his fire torched tunic in the Grevious set. Yikes. One might feel the attention to detail was better in the old days.
I always wanted this set - and it's two side sets - when I was a kid. I'm super excited to see this opened and built! Hope you enjoy it for the rest of us!
EV-9D9 is the first of only four sets to have the Battle Droid body in Metru red (New dark red) ,and is the only appearance of the Battle Droid legs in the old dark grey. This set is among the final sets to have the 16M chain piece in that color, and the only set I had with it was an Orient Expedition set (7410) from the same year. This is also the second of three sets to have the 1x12x3 arch brick in tan. This and "Jabba's Message" (4475) mark the only appearances of the 1x2 brick w/horizontal snap in earth orange (Old brown/Mata brown), and this version of "Slave Leia" is the final appearance of the ponytail hair piece in that color. The frog in transparent green also came in two other sets released in the same year, though neither was technically minifigure scale. Along with another Orient Expedition set (7417), this set marks the co-final appearance of the 1x10 studded Technic brick/beam in the old light grey, having debuted in the Technic "Super Car" (8880) in 1994. The 3M tail section on Jabba in sand green technically debuted in the "Dinosaurs" theme in 2001, but this and the '06 version of Jabba's Sail Barge (6210) were the only minifigure-scale sets to have it. The tail end in sand green was somewhat more common, appearing in twelve sets through 2008, with its last appearance being in a "Fantasy era" Castle set (7038) in February of that year.
I would like to see a master builders series jabba’s palace, which includes a bunch of background characters like what they done with the Mos Eisley Cantina.
I like how the newer Jabba’s palace similarly came in multiple sets with the rancor pit set being designed to perfectly fit under the palace. Hope they keep up the tradition if they do another jabba’s palace.
imagine if they did for Jabba's palace, or the Ewok village, or Battle on Endor what they did with that new Cantina or Cloud City... yes it would be huge and expensive but i think worth it Return of the Jedi is my favourite Star Wars, always has been and i just wish they gave those sets a little more attention... the new Sail Barge was awesome and as good as they were i don't need another AT-AT or Republic Gunship, or Death Star (i'm sure one's coming, though a new Death Star 2 would would be cool, incuding a feature where a mini Millennium Falcon (like smaller than micro fighter scale can fly through the centre to the core)
I have the 2012 Jabba's Palace as well as the 2013 Rancor Pit and Sail Barge + the Desert Skiff escape from 2017 so It was cool to see what people had back in 2003 instead of those!
Got this set when it first came out. Was sooo excited to get the Jabba minfig! Then you could add the gate and the Han carbon trophy room to either side of it as well! Missed out on the newer one. Wish I had gotten that one, with the Rancor pit. Only thing I hate about this set is how fragile it is.
I got this set back then (still have it), and I actually grabbed some harry potter sets from the same time that used the same color palette to make jabba's palace 'more substantial'. 🙂👍
1:31 as a kid my favourite scene in Return of the Jedi was always the scene where Luke flies to Jabba's palace in his biplane.
That never happened?.. I would know- I have watched episode 6 many times

Ahh, I still remember seeing my brother get this set for his birthday and us building it together. 100/10 for Nostalgia.

Also MandR: payed $300 for it
He’s reviewing it… he’s saying it’s not worth it
You aren’t me. Duh! 😂 nah but for most people I’d say this is just eye candy or an old set they just don’t need.
@@MandRproductions I have the 2012 Jaba’s palace, it definitely looks better
most people wouldn't make money off of buying this set for 300 bucks
I can almost hear the SWJs currently at LEGO and Disney screaming and foaming in rage at the simple sight of slave-Leia.
That puts a smile in my face.
Don’t they not make the figure because it’s “inappropriate” or something like that?
Thing is they should remake the set and just forget about the slave part

Bro your pfp brought me back to D1, thanks for the nostalgia
This and the gunship of it’s time really went in on the “…and also, it opens!” play feature

Apparently we are according to leaks not concrete though
Jabbas palace is being leaked now. Yoda's hut seems probable now. Hopefully the palace is from Book of Boba Fett.
nevermind............ we're getting a $80 yoda's training/hut
I would love it if lego made a jabba’s palace in a similar style to the mos eisley cantina set from last year
That would be amazing! Rancor pit and everything 😀
If they remade this set today, they'd just include a battle droid as ev-9d9 and be like "all people remember was that there was a droid in the palace"
Jokes aside they will probably just use the medical droid mould.
They just wouldn’t add them at all no one would miss it

I don’t know how the designers thought it was a good idea to not have the rancor pit and put the droid area in instead 😂
this was actually the Lego Star Wars I ever got. I got it for my fourth birthday back in 2004.
Now this makes me wonder why modern LEGO minifigures don’t have finger grooves like Jabba?!

Ok let’s face after this Ryan will review the 2012 version next then we will get a comparison so I’m excited
we need Jabbas palace released as UBS like the cantina, big set 20 figs
Those smaller sets have such crazy minifigure value by today's standards.
It would be a dream to own that set 😊
Dear LEGO…with the upcoming book of boba series on the way please make a UCS version of Jabba’s palace with boba in the throne.
