- There are now 3 LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett/Jabba's Palace sets! Starting in 2003 we saw a ROUGH version of the iconic palace in LEGO solely made as a play set! In 2012 LEGO Star Wars hit a peak for Jabba's Palace with a super fun play set & beautiful display. While the building changed drastically, one constant for this LEGO Star Wars has been a GREAT Minifigure selection! Which set is your favorite?

@@MandRproductions what do you think would be better to buy a razor crest or a Mandalorian N1 starfighter?
xD
I like to think that the 2012 flick fire missile in the roof is just a nuke, for when Jabba runs out of patience or just for his birthday parties. Definetly would fit his character.
That’s frickin genius
JAJAJA
The 2003 one will be probably the best because it has the mighty GONK droid
And a Slave Leia! What more do you want?
@@CanadaBricks yeah but the 2012 one has the twi’lek 😏😏

Boba fett place is honestly a unique set,imo its has a lot of good minifigures and details, but the jabba place never get old, that jabba minifig still holds a place in my heart to this day, that colors on it is so accurate ngl

All the 2022 set needed was:
1. Fennec Shand helmet included.
2. Boba Fett right color pieces to match the green.
3. Proper roof.
4. Taller tower.
Don’t forget proper BOBF mini figures such as Shanto.
Lego is too much of a coward to make the roof domed
and maybe for an 11/10, swap that pink haired girl for a second gamorean guard
@@leviticusprime4904 I don't really blame LEGO on this one. That's the "Fans" fault.
@@leviticusprime4904 no, it was most likely due to the turkish being offended by the 2012 set
Which palace is the best and why is it 2012?
2012 was a great year
2003 because it has a GONK Droid and Slave Leia. What more could you want?
its amazing for display and for play its literally perfect
Display wise the 2012 one is the definitley the best but for playability the new one is the best imo
because 2012 has no fluff and contains more iconic characters while still showing the iconic shape, only thing it doesnt have is playability
I think that the 2012 jabba's palace is the Best because it had a lot of play features and the 2013 rancor pit set can attach under the palace.
Classic Lego, improves old sets, and then regresses from there
Lmao that is the trend tho
Disney greed.
@@illegalewahrheiten2911 true but the new one is worse cause of cancel culture
Lets not forget the Disney issue
@@javanmills6152 lol, you don't even know what that means
That 2012 set is pretty much as close to perfect as a lego set can be. The minifigure selection is phenomenal, the playability is great, the display ability is unmatched by the other two sets and being able to connect to the Rancor pit set is such an amazing idea.
It can still be had for a reasonable price too, along with the later Jabba”s Sail Barge and Desert Skiff…. Worth every penny.
The 2012 set is a great display piece with the rancor pit but even without it the set looks pretty good still. The 2022 one is not good for display, too bad that lego had controversy over the 2012 set.
@@timnosgirg7017 The design is based on the Hagia Sophia in Turkey, built as a Christian church and stolen in 2020. A small group of Turks in Germany pulled this stunt as a test of the waters of abusing political correctness to their own ends, using a Christian church to do so. By executive order Erdogan stole the church and forced it to be Islamic. Ironic isn’t it? This is what happens when a people possessed of imaginary things results in. Stand up to religious bullying.
@@fractalelf7760 Oh that’s so ironic, thanks for the correction.
Too bad it was overpriced, and still is
I really want a UCS Jabba's palace now with the rancor pit attached like the one in 2012.
Edit: What are the chances this might happen?
0%
Chances are decent for a MBS set.
If it’s anything like the cantina it will be a huge hit
I was able to get all 4 2012 Jabba’s sets for less than $500! The sail barge, skiff, palace and rancor pit, I agree, 2012-13 was the best for LEGO!
insane, how did you get for less than $500? I wish I picked them up earlier but in 2012 I was a preteen without a job
@@nicholaschan2518 won an auction on EBay!
The 2012 version is just so incredible.
Yeah i really wish I had it
Not even for the build but bc of the twilek lmao jk
i had the 2012 jabbas palace and 2013 rancor pit and jabbas sail barge, but 5 year old me chewed the minifigs heads and broke the sets 😭
Let’s be honest, we all knew the 2012 one would win before we even started watching.
I'm from Russia. And I like to watch English-speaking RUclipsrs. And it's also nice to read the comments, because everyone here is polite to each other and no one swears
It's crazy to think that there was a bigger gap between the 2012 and 2022 Palaces than the 2003 and 2012, but so much changed between 2003 and 2012. What a time for LEGO in terms of progression!
Unpopular opinion, but I actually think the 2003 version was the best offering from Lego as a toy. Inflation accounted for, all three sets to it were about $55 combined. That's about a third the price of the 2012 version (not including Rancor pit) and about half the price of the 2022 version.
The other two models definitely show progress and are better cost aside, but taking the msrp of each set into consideration, I don't think that progress necessarily reflects the same value Lego offered in 2003.
Just looking for something to play with 2003 wins, accounting for all topics 2012 wins
Looking for something fun to mess around with because you enjoy playing
Go for that 2003
Looking for a nice looking Lego set with some nice characters and features for for 2012
(Avoid 2022 at all cost)
LEGO in general went from a kids toy company, to an adult collector company. That's how I see it. Because LEGO is now too expensive for any sane person to buy for kids.
Plus, most the sets now are ridiculous in design considering newer sets are often downgrades from early to mid 2000s sets... And inflation just doesn't account for it when you're talking about small plastic bricks that are machine made en masse.
Yesterday I actually just rebuild my Jabba's Palace from 2012, it feelt super nostalgic to me. Such a great set!
I did the same but since I played a lot with it my gamorrean guard has his face scratched xd
I am jealous of you, I always wanted that set! My friend had it and the rancor pit, and I have Jabba's sail barge, but it didn't have the figures because my dad sold them...
Honestly I think people have gone way too soft, we already got Slave 1 renamed to Bobas Starship (I think), & now we got a half assed Jabba's Palace for the new one 😂
It is Lego themselves that have become soft through “politically correctness” and capitulating to the whims of a terroristic ideology.
for real i miss old lego (old lego for me isn’t that old more like 2009-2012) but the nostalgia is still there
Is it just me? I feel so partial to the classic yellow Star Wars mini-figs that I think they will always be my favorite ones. They are classic and nostalgic. IMO
I always like yellow over skinntone for human figures. It would actually look wierd to see charecters like Jaba' Jarjar or various non human charecters like the hobit Azog in yellow. It is the standard or lightest skinntone I don't like for manny figures because it is too lite compared to real human skinn. I like the medeum skinntone like the one used on Aladdin best. I got severral of the earley starwars figures like Luke and Quigon in yellow from before lego used the skintone.
bad opinion
bro is blinded by nostalgia 💀 the better the detail the better the figure
I hope we get another Jabba and Rancor soon, it's not like they don't at least still have the Rancor mold since they reprinted the hands in green for the Lego Batman Movie.
What if they made a rancor pit for bobas palace and they made it so that when it is in the folded configuration it sits on top of the pit and the pit comes with the a rancor with the option of a saddle and a new rancor trainer minifig
The Boba Fett one just looks like someone was building the 2012 one but stopped 2/3 of the way through.
The 2012 Jabbas Palace is probably one of the best Lego sets and it’s because of the minifigs and it’s very accurate to the actual Jabbas Palace and even tho it’s a set meant for children it can still make a great display piece.
The new one only needed
•taller tower
•roof piece (contrevarcy ruined it)
•boba fett with correct helmet and jetpack color
•fennec shand with the helmet
And it would of been a better palace even tho its called throne room
2012 had everything you could possibly ask for- including best accessories. Yes it had the rancor pit, but jabba’s sail barge also came out in 2013- going phenomenally well with them, making, in opinion, the best trio of sets in lsw history.
Four sets. Also the Desert Skiff.
I have the 2012 Palace, Rancor Pit, and Skiff displayed together and they look great
Not sure why Ryan doesn’t think an expansion is possible for 2022. Those connector pieces on the top of the main building are DEFINITELY for an additional set. The 2022 one is called Boba Fett’s THRONE ROOM after all…we can hope for a round roof and an expansion to the watch tower too…
Very new to your channel, reminds me so much of my childhood and it’s awesome to see how everything has evolved. Also big fan of your production for the videos. Very authentic and clean. Thanks!
Thanks! And that’s awesome 👍👍
I wanted this video for so long, it was worth the wait. Keep up the good work.
At 17:27 when he said "ehh" it sounded like Cad Bane dying 😂🤣
I think we can all agree that OVERALL , 2012 was a good year in general :)
2:37 that ain’t no jabba that Kermit the frog high on yoda’s kentamine
We all know that only one has our savior, Salacious Crumb, which is why it's the best.
Over the last year or so I have been watching all of M&Rs videos, on lego Star Wars reviews and news. However once sets are revealed/released, my favorite sets usually are Ryan’s least favorites. I love the Imperial Shuttle and Imperial Light Cruise and Boba Fetts palace is what I have been most excited for since it’s leak. It probably has something to do with me not buying or having any knowledge of Star Wars lego sets from 2010-2021, but it is cool to see a different perspective on Lego’s releases. Keep up the great videos M&R!!
They could have re-released the 2012 set with no changes and I would've bought it
None beat 2012
“If you guys behave” Ryan knows his audience
*This is exactly the video I have been waiting for! Desperately wanted to see a Jabbas Palace comparison!*
Really awesome video MandR. I personally like the 2013 one most but I guess I'll still have to buy the new one too.
Thank you so much for making videos like this, my life isn’t very fun right now, but it’s nice to have something bright.
i hope it gets better man!
Hi Ryan, nice video about the comparsion of the 3 sets, just want to let you know that by raising the height of the lower half of the 2003 set to fit the Rancor in it looks great too, especially the activate of the trap door
I really love the 2012 jabbas palace . And as a muslim i do think it look like a mosque but it honestly it doesnt offend me . Overall i think the 2012 jabbas palace is the best one
Assalamu alaikum. No disrespect to any religion, but the Hagia Sophia mosque people say looks like Jabbas Palace wasn't even built by Muslims, it was originally a Christian church built by Greeks, later it was a Latin Catholic church then converted to a mosque when the towers where added.
If you have an issue with it then take it up with the Star Wars developers, not Lego. Lego is simply recreating the sets from the movie
it's really funny that both of the figures got stuck while trying to drop them in the pit
11:13 That voice crack though 😂
Love u bro!!! I watch every single review that you post. Keep grinding bro.
i remember begging my dad for that Jabba's palace and Rancor pit. I dont think i left it alone for a solid year when i finally got it. It was a massive part of my childhood
I had the 2012 jabbas palace back in 2012 along with the sail barge and I loved it
I got the 2003 one with the companion sets when I was a child, and I had a blast with it
Including the door and carbonite sets as part of 2003's set, but not including the Rancor Pit as part of the 2012 set, is unfair.
in my opinion, a roof will be made for this new palace as an additional set, there are pins at the top and it is possible that the rancor cave is downstairs
That won't happen for a few reasons:
1. It's clear that they didn't make it because of the mosque controversy.
2. Adding a roof set that could fit minifigures would make the roof as tall as the tower, which would look ridiculous.
3. Why would an additional set added on to the roof attach with those types of pins? It would attach by studs. They were probably for decoration.
4. The roof of this set doesn't seem to be made to fit something on top. There's no tiles and studs like there usually are to connect floors. And there's grates to let light in,, which wouldn't be there if there was meant to be a roof on top.
What was going on before you started filming that was so funny (0:04 😂😂)
My brother had both the 2012 Jabba's Palace (by far the best one) and the Rancor Pit to go along with it. It was one of the coolest LEGO builds we ever had as kids.
Also I love how the original Jabba's Palace reminds me of the level in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.
I think the value category is kind of irrelevant in these vs. videos because many older sets cost much more today that it doesn’t really matter how valuable they were when they came out.
I still want to compare what LEGO is giving you for your money now vs then. It won’t necessarily convert to a purchasing decision but it’s good to know if they’re ripping you off now compared to before.
@@MandRproductions guess that makes sense
@@MandRproductions You should post used costs too for ebay/bricklink. Maybe it's $500 new but if you just want the set it's usually like half the new price.
Great and entertaining vid!
Super excited to get my 2012 jabba's palace and rancor pit
I think that if you want to put the 2022 Boba's throne room on top of the 2013 Rancor pit, you have to have it with the side pieces folded inwards for it to work properly
Nice review and comparison
In 2012 I bought the rancor pit but missed out on the palace. Then the price went crazy after the controversy and I thought I would never get it. Fast forward to today and I picked up the 2012 palace on Facebook for a sweet deal as it was missing a couple mini figs. No problem. So happy and will be building the palace and rancor pit together for the first time this weekend. Cool video, cool channel.
I bought the 2012 version when it released and only recently built it up again and it did not dissapoint👌🏼👌🏼
I bought the 2012 Jabbas Palace a couple years ago for $180, it's my favorite set to this day!
People actually complained that Jabba's Palace looked like a Mosque?
We're doomed as a species.
It would make more sense to just make a rancor pit for the 2022 version sense they technically showed it in the show when boba is sitting at his table above the pit with those other people
The ending was absolutely hilarious
The lever function reminds me of the MBS cantina set
I have the “Jabba’s surprise set” sealed in box. Bought it when it was only €47 still. Happy that I got it back than, and probably gonna keep it sealed.😁
I got the 2012 version at savers for only 15 dollars. Unfortunately it had no minifigures, and I understand that the minifigures are a huge part of the set, it is still my favorite set I own and I love showing off the 15 dollar price tag on the box to make my friends jealous.
I’m a little surprised you didn’t mention the rarity and awesomeness of Leia as Boushh
I really don’t think I’ve laughed at a Lego review this much the sarcasm was on point.
Great vid 👍
I can't believe how you got the old jabbas palace sealed and the other little set!
When you said with the ability to flip minifigs off I pictured the stairs actually flipping a minifig off
I would like to see a big Jabbas palace like a ucs set, that would be cool to see all the detail they could put into it
I've been waiting for thiss
"...This kinda looks good this way!" (Can't see it) 😂 I TOTALLY agree!
Even if they aren’t planning to release a rancor pit if like to at least see a trapdoor, it would be super fun to stick that part off the edge of a table or something and just drops figures
How cool would it have been If they actually made of the 2022 Version competible with the old rancor Pit
I’ve officially decided that I will not be buying the new palace, unless I find it for an insane deal like $60 or less
same, 700 pieces for 100 bucks isn't cool
@@asaknight321 it's not as much about the piece count, more on how wimpy the build looks, it isn't a great display piece which is what I am looking for, don't get me wrong, it would be great as a playset, but it's just overpriced for what it is with or without the piece count
@@the1andonlyjawa true
I just got the boba fett palace, I love this set so much
Totally agree on the 1st three set is really one set or it's incomplete without the side sets, it was an interesting idea.
I
D love to you combined them all with the food features
I’m really not worried about the mini figs on the 2022 version, but it would be so much better with a dome roof, taller watchtower and maybe another gamorrean
I love that when ever ryan's videos come out, there are already 21k views and the videos been out for 2 hours
I really like the boba fett one. I still wish you could remove the roof and I hope they will add extensions to the boba fett one like the rancor pit and dining hall
A rancor pit on the new boba's throne room would do nicely
Love your videos
The 2003 minifigs just give me nostalgia for the Lego Star Wars games
I wanted Jabba's Palace way back in 2012 but I never got it. I hope to buy it soon, with the rancor pit and sail barge. I bought the desert skiff as a kid and I always wanted to play the beginning of Return of the Jedi but with Lego.
2012 THE YEAR LEGO WAS GOLD!!!! I MISS THOSE DAYS!!!!
For me the best place is the oldd jabba place so cool and y love this!
Why is this video legit comes out the day after I was looking for a Jabba's palace comparison video 🤣
You should make a video combining all these three sets to make a to scale version of this set
I'll probably make some kind of 2012 & 2022 hybrid, with the best of both them to sit on top of the Rancor pit.
I think that there could be another set that connects to 2022 Jabba’s palace because I notice those notches in the top. They could maybe add an add-on for Boba’s bacta tank since it was proponent in the show, but who knows.
Massive massive that was a ginormous upgrade
I have to say when I get this set I am gonna make my own rooftop for bobas palace
I don't think I ever realized that was the eye in the door before
I really hope that this 10 year pattern continues and in 2032 we get a redo of the 2012 set with updated part selection and maybe they’ll increase the size and make it a master builder series set. Hopefully the roof controversy will be a distant enough memory by then that they’ll be willing to make it accurate
My favorite one is the 2012 one, I don't own the set but I do have the rancor pit
I have had the 2012 set with rancore and have not known wha5 that red thing on the top is so thanks
i think we will see an expansion set for the boba's palace which will add a middle section to the tower and top to the main building
I got the new Boba’s Throne room $20 off at Costco early! Can’t wait to build it!
costco is tue best place to shop
I got mine half off at target. $50 for the set is a good deal
Would be cool if you merged all of them together to make one cool set
I find comparing the 2003 Jabba's Palace, the 2012 Jabba's palace, and Boba Fett's throne room is like comparing an 8-track tape, a DVD cassette, and a VHS tape.
