Hearing the trumpet in the distance, rifle salutes and folding of the flag always gets to me.
When I was around 10, I use to sit on our neighbors hilly lawn bcuz it was shaded all summer, we lived near a cemetery and I heard this in a distance not knowing the meaning of taps, I could not stop myself from crying listening to it, I told my mom what I heard and she told me , I'll never forget that day nor will I ever stop honoring all who served and still serving❤
Was recently there at the tomb of the unknown soldier and watched the changing of the guard. Cool to see a familiar place, moving to see soldiers saluting their past generations.
The most powerful and moving melody with the most haunting 24 notes to ever hear.

May all of the Heroes rest in eternal peace and upmost respect. We would not be here today without them. I'll never forget the first time actually listening to taps play during basic. DS made sure we all understood the significance and told us, "That's the most important call you'll ever hear. One day it'll mean something more to you."

Former U.S Ranger who is now currently applying for UKSF [United Kingdom Special Forces] here,I lost some good friends in the liner of combat,he had been my friend for 14 years,I miss,mourn and honour him to this day,i was so crazy about saving him that even after he was completely gone,I still tried to give him medical help,I used a TQ kit,bandages,morphine,anything I had on me,that never worked,I learned that war is all about sacrifices to benefit the country you fight for,to benefit your friends and family so that they don’t get involved and in something whenever one country is stealing another’s borders, I got to say,the U.S Army is my damn home,I’m proud to fight for it,but I’m ambitious,so I’m looking to get to 22 SAS,in the mean time,thank you U.S Army,for the experience you gave me,I will always fight for you,and I will continue until I can’t fight any more. Thank you U.S Army.

I just went to my first ever military service for my grandfather yesterday. And I thought the videos were sad… they can never prepare you for in person..
God give our fallen soldiers and comrades a good paradise our veterans that served in World War 1 and world War 2 the Korean war vietnam the gulf war and every other wat they all need a paradise and shall not be forgotten they should not have to worry about being forgotten we need to let them know they are remembered we have had to deal with some bad wars but unfortunatelythis is probablynot the end of them we shall rememberour comradesand fallen soldiers and show our respect. I served at ANC. Hotel Company; both escort and firing party. During my time there I buried 600 service members. I remember three funerals.
At each funeral that was memorable, nobody showed up. And a few weeks before I took the final walk out of ANC I was firing party commander of a funeral near the Columbarium, there was overcast skies and light rain. Taps never sounded more solemn than to an empty funeral with nothing more than ashes to bury, an ANC rep, and a casket team.

My grandfather served the military, fought in Vietnam and was attacked by Vietnamese with AK 47's when he was touring around, the only thing I wish to do as a 15 year old is something I will do that I will never regret, is join the army and choose HOOAH, as I may not join brothers and sisters in combat but I will still respect them as far as I can give. One sentence gave me all this hope within myself and having such inspiration for the military and it goes like this, "Only the dead have seen the end of war" it may be weird to make someone have such inspiration to join the military but it did to me.
You will always live in my heart 💪
