Secondly its anicent Egypt they jumped their sisters bones by marriage all the time to "keep the line pure" Unfortunately it did lead to trouble as it led to infertility and pharaoh's such as Tut being severely disabled.

Fun fact: in the ancient egyptian text "the victory over Seth" Seth gets described as being the one "who (already) fought in (his mother's) womb,
who did evil, who stepped outside the (prescribed) path,
who fell down because of his slaughter,
who loved the fight, who enjoyed quarrel,
who covered his face against him who is older than him,
who created evil, who caused grief
in enmity to the father of his fathers,
who avoids laws, who uses force,
who stands there as archer (?),
robber, lord of the lie, ruler of deceit,
    leader of criminals,
who rejoices over (treacherous) abandonment, who hates friendship,
whose heart is haughty among the gods,
who sows enmity, who creates destruction,
the evil one who incites rebellion,
lord of robbery who rejoices in greed,
lord of theft, who creates rapine,

Set like Ares is a war god and is associated with the color red and the metal iron. Although the latter is not a storm god, his sons, (Phobos & Deimos) who always accompanied him, is armed by Zeus with lightning (Phobos) and thunder (Deimos). Ares' Roman counterpart, Mars, is originally a thunderer or storm deity. However, the ancient Egyptians identied Set with the planet Mercury, while Horus is identified with the planet Mars (along with Jupiter, Saturn, and the star Algol).

  • @kitcutting
    @kitcutting 2 месяца назад +2

Those three Egyptian gods in the Osiris myth were also color-coded! They’re also the “primordial colors” (black/white/red), the first three colors humans had words for, and learned to identify:
Horus was the “white god” and represented the ultimate goodness and divinity of the pharaohs. White was also the color of the crown of Upper Egypt.
Osiris was the “black god” and represented death/rebirth, fertility, and the colors of the rich Nile soil.
Set was the “red god” and represented blood, as well as the chaotic colors of sandstone and the barrenness of the Egyptian desert. The crown of Lower Egypt was also supposedly red.
The double-crown of white and red also represents the unification of all Egypt, thus uniting the concepts of both Horus (order) and Set (chaos). Pretty cool stuff

It's funny because in the Somali language, Set's scepter of power, dominion and control, known as the "Was," means, "to get fucced," as in something has dominanted you or over powered you, hence, to get fucced. I know this has it orgins from Ancient Egyptian language because Somali's use alot of ancient Egyptian words. For example we call the sun "qor-rah" which literally means the neck of Rah. The ancient Egyptians used to call Somalia, Ta-Neter which means the Land of the Gods. Ancient Egyptians viewed ancient Somalia as their ancestral and spiritual homeland.
HAIL SET, THE GOD OF THE NUBIANS.

Legit if this is your first time reading or learning about Egyptian mythology is wild. Their creation myth is freaky.😜😆

One of the inspirations behind one of the Greatest Duelists in all of Duel Monsters and Yu-Gi-Oh!, Seto Kaiba. The Master of The Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Egyptian Gods. And his Egyptian Incarnation Preist Seto. Though unlike the God, Priest Seto cared and respected his Pharaoh and family, while Kaiba cares and loves his little brother Mokuba and protected him as if his own little brother is his own son. And of course both love and have an obsession with Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Kisara.

The aggravating aspect with the Platypus? European "civilized" folks refused to believe the natives when they (European scientists) were told the Platypus laid eggs and produced milk. Dismissing the natives, believing the natives to be too primitive to be able to make simple observations of their own environment. 😮‍💨

I looked up online and I found that Set would take on the form of the Greek monster known as Typhon, so technically he'd have the head of a dog-like monster; so, I take to thinking that Egyptian gods and goddesses automatically choose the kind of creatures associated with their personalities, whims or skills, early in their godhood: take Sekhmet for example; she is a brave hunter and fierce and potentially a ferocious apex predator, so she chose to become like a rogue lioness without a Pride as opposing to the Cheetah Goddess Mafdet, who is clearly protecting all she cares about, like how fiercely a cheetah would guard her cubs, but ironically she seems a lot less feral compared to Bastet; I have no better way to describe either of the two most civil of the three feline goddesses.

How many people don't know that in the ANCIENT TIMES they only had so many people to date and mate so for the first unknown EARLY Generations? I'm not mocking anyone, just asking you to engage your thinker. Even Adam and Eve's children Cain, Able and Seth had to marry their sisters because where else are they going to find their mates? I just feel bad for the first millennia of (most) women (and some men) who did not have the police and court etc protections that we have today

Jon Solo if you are going to tell part of African Creation Story please research Rosemary Clark The Sacred Magic of Ancient Egypt. Please spend more time doing research on 42 Neteru. Asar was dismember by Set and resurrected by Auset. The names use are the ones given by Greeks and her not the original names. Also the fact that you are not explaining this characters in your story belong to family of deities who created the Universe doesn’t fully express this being a not human. This familial ties are based on triad that created the Universe.

Hey, so normally, I hate to comment on these types of things however, I am a late kemetic high priestess and proud pagan
Budge is never a good source of information on ancient Egypt. He falsified and lied about a lot of his findings to get to the top of his career field and he’s been disproven to the point of disownment from the communities both of Egypt and high-class researchers… And Set is based off of a monster of ancient folklore… one that lived in the desert and ate poor wayward souls… so could have been a monster which was hunted sure could be some form of ancient crypt also possible
