Please I want to read more (especially since I thought a major part of greek religious practice was centered around not letting the hearth go out except when a family member passed away. The hearth extinguishing was considered a bad omen from what I've read)

4:35 That isn't the myth I heard! In the version I know the interruption didn't kill the child; the terrified mother snatched the baby alive from the flames. At this point, Demeter threw off her disguise and showed herself to the mortal woman. The furious goddess then scolded Metaneira, stating that the child was this close to becoming an immortal god but the mother's foolish interference ruined it forever. Still, Demophon had absorbed enough power from the divine flames so that he managed to achieve the powers of a demi-god if not full godhood.

    • @JonSolo

Then you got Dionysus, who was born a demi-god, but just gets to be a full god right from the get go, AFAIK.
Always found it weird how Hercules was descended from Zeus, on both sides of his family.

Just out of curiosity, would you ever be interested in discussing judeo-christianity or is the topic not something you feel comfortable talking about? I find all mythology interesting, and I mean no offense, but I know that because of where we live some people don't like to. Long time fan, awesome content.
