Honestly, the fight at the end of Chapter 6 is pretty cool. It's the only time in the game you fight a Driver trio, even if said Drivers are also Blades. It's even got the Tank/DPS/Healer trinity in there. But even then, all 3 at once is easily outmatched by just Jin alone.
I noticed you split Driver trio from Tank/DPS/Healer trio, so I'm gonna assume you mean the Driver combo with break, topple, launch. If that is what you're referring to Vandham's first encounter fight with you has that exact combo.
What makes Torna such menacing villains is that Rex & co. never truly “win” in an encounter with Torna, even in the end. Spoilers for all of XC2 ahead . . . . . Most of Torna dies fighting Amalthus, including Jinn. Malos is the last to fall during the final battle, but that still comes at the cost of Pyra and Mythra. They are villains that actually command fear because the player and characters know that losing is a very real possibility.
Not only that, but they scale. ALL of them. Akhos in the beginning of the game is easily one of the most dangerous antagonists in a JRPG on virtue of being able to completely destroy your attacking power whenever he wants, and when that stops working, he shows off his flesh eater form. Same with Malos, and Mik, and Patroka.
Torna was a powerful organisation, but I wouldn't say they were never be able to beat them. Mythra destroyed 4 of their blades, Rex and Pneuma both held back during the fight with Jin and Malos, and defeated Jin at the end, to the point he no longer wanted to, or was able to, fight back. Malos also was defeated before Pyra/Mythra's sacrifice. That said, Torna and Amalthus still held the largest threat among them, which made the climax to finally beat them more satisfying.
@@ppowersteef I’d argue that the only real full losses on their part were chapters 7 and 10. Mik and Patroka got what they needed, and got away scot free, albeit with the setback of losing their blades. Arguably the end of chapter 3 too, but Malos was able to kill Vandham, so not a total loss. And still the best W/L ratio of pretty much any evil team.
Mikhail is Tornan, born and bred, while Akhos and Patroka are blades from Tantal, the continuation of Torna. So it adds up, but keep in mind, when Malos joins in, the music becomes Incoming, and when Jin joins in, even with Malos, the music becomes his theme.

Honestly the most underrated battle theme but it makes sense because you only hear it twice (during the first Akhos fight where you unlock chain attacks and the Tornan trio battle)
Alright let's be honest, Torna had the perfect setup. It should've been Nia with Malos and Jin, which completes a full party. Then you got Akhos with Mikhail and Patroka, which completes another party. Now you got Malos with Jin, and Akhos with Mikhail and Patroka. On our side we got Rex, Nia, Tora, Morag, and Zeke. Now both sides have 2 attackers and tanks and only one healer. So for those of you people who wished we could equip all our party members at once... be prepared.
Prior to Nia leaving, Torna was remarkably well balanced. Almost complete element coverage only missing Light and no element having more than 2 reps. They have a nice balance of 5 attackers, 3 tanks, and 3 healers. Even when just looking at the ones available in the party, it's technically possible to get full Driver Combo coverage while still giving each driver only 1 class each. You also have really good Field Skill coverage with every collection skill and interaction skill being available. It's almost like they were made to go together.
Torna is just a bunch of friends enjoying being evil. Before Nia left, they were practically perfect. Malos has Sever, a wind element tank. Malos himself being a dark element attacker and also an Aegis, with his own Monado to boot. Mikhail has Cressidus, an earth element tank. Mik himself being a dark element tank. Patroka has -General Grievous- i mean Perdido, a fire element attacker with 5 weapons to boot. Patroka standalone being an earth element attacker. Akhos has Obrona, an electric element attacker able to manipulate the ether flow to their advantage. Akhos himself is also electric, though a healer instead. Nia has Dromarch, a water element healer. Nia herself also being a water healer. And an insanely powerful one too, capable of destroying whoever she wants to by weaponising cancer on them. And then there’s Jin. Jin had only himself. Though alone, he is an ice element, and a one man army. He can tank, he can attack, he can heal, inflict debuffs, taunt, counter, you name it. Together they have 3 tanks, 4 attackers, 3 healers, and one who does everything at once. And varied elemental coverage, only lacking Light. Most likely they didn’t pull Kos-Mos. They were unstoppable, essentially.

@@StellarShadow777 Not helping the matter is WHEN exactly the song does play: 1. Ahkos in Garfront. This acts as the Chain Attack tutorial, meaning he gets his ass wiped in seconds. 2. Mikhail and Patroka at the Abandoned Factory. Only for the first phase (before Morag joins), and it is a short battle before the cutscene. 3. Ahkos, Mik, and Patroka at the Genbu Crown. By this point in the game, you are probably over leveled, and will make short work of the fight. About the only good chance to hear this song in full, though. So, yeah. Amazing song, but never gets to stick around for long. Needed to be used more, and for longer battles, so you can actually enjoy it.

I haven't finished the game yet but from my memory, it's only played 3 times on my current playthrough. When fighting Akhos, then during the first part of the Mikhail and Patroka fight and again when fighting all three of the aformentioned Torna members at the end of Tantal.
i think it's because all other times it's like a big end of chapter boss fight which i guess they wanted to always have special music and it overrides this. kind of a shame.
The only person from Xenoblade 2 that would work as a Shulk echo is Malos, every other character is too different from Shulk and would need a different move set.
why did i sleep on this song for so long its probably one of the best songs in the soundtrack edit: I now just had the thought to replay the game to hear in witch bosses this plays in
Holy crap! I didn't even think about that. I used to think this was quite a kick ass song to show off their power, but now that you mention it, it more or less contains the vibes of a group which has righteous indignation through the power of wanton revenge that is thoroughly justified. Damn Amalthus...
MY GOOOOOD! When Morag fuckin lady Morag joined in on the fight and your battling Patroka, Milhail…they make a deadly duo I’m like “come on Brighid block damn it “ I vastly prefer her over Tors for a tank cuz two fuckin words…”Tiger Tiger” yeah it reminds me of some retro game for game boy color or even older from those classic 80s arcades like blehhh! But man this was dope. Can’t believe in your second playthrough you can get Patroka, Mikhail, Akhos, Perdido, Cressidus, Obrona, and Sever like woww!
0:00 POV: It's Black Friday and you have that one item that everyone wants. Now everyone is after you and your friends and you and your friends must fight back.
When I first saw the title of this with very limited knowledge on the story (like I knew Torna was a country at least) I thought this spoiled the fact that like you’d fight the actual Tornan titan
1:08 every time, without fail, my brain goes “step on up to the plate, meet your fate… walk in…” it’s not a perfect match, but good enough for a Persona 4G connection in my brain.
Big Spoiler warning: Outside of the obvious hint, it’s fun to see the torna members all being a hint towards catalyst reveal. since one by one it’s revealed that all torna members are blades (specifically the kind of blades that also can be drivers) Makes me wonder if Pyra&mythra can be drivers.
It's funnier because we were blatantly told or shown before ch6. You can see the core crystal on ahkos's bow when he shows up in ch 5 and rex figured out that even patroka couldn't handle haze's ability in restricting blades' powers during that same fight. They told us straight up. I'm still salty about his bow not-a-bow. It was such a mean tease
I know you likely won't fight them again at the usual difficulty, but if you do, here's some pointers. Choose Blades that fit a character's playstyle. Try to get Patroka's Weather Changer down ASAP. After it, really try to get Mikhail out. It'll happen eventually if you just push on. Then take out Akhos. As a Healer, he doesn't do well with Defence or Offence, so it should be quite easy. Patroka isn't of much use on her own, so you know what to do. If you ever try to attempt it again on Normal difficulty with the expected levels, remember what I said.
Cobalt Every time I beat Patroka's weather changer she just put up a new one, so I never managed to get any further. The furthest I got in that fight on normal difficulty was by using Tora and Nia on the weather changer while I used Rex alone on Akhos. It almost worked but the blade arts didn't recharge quickly enough at one point and it all just collapsed. If I play through it again, I'll definitely use your advice though, so thank you
Alfie Thomas here is another tip. Get Mythras affinity level up and give Rex something that boosts his crit rate. That way you probably won't have to worry about arts not charging quickly.
First listened to this in Smash and feel in love with it. P.S. Why does it sound like something I'd hear from the Senran Kagura franchise? All well still good music. (Future P.S: After playing and finishing Xenoblade 2 HOLY HELL this theme let's you know that EVERY Torna member means business. i think it's because all other times it's like a big end of chapter boss fight which i guess they wanted to always have special music and it overrides this. kind of a shame.
@@GKoopa they probably just wanted Malos and Jin to have a different “feel” compared to the lackeys I guess.
*Would be nice if this song got into smash*
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Pretty sure this played when Mythra/Pyra met shulk during the reveal
Unfortunately this song did not play in the trailer
The song that played during that moment was the first minute of incoming
@@MeepJeep Ooh, my bad then.
They sounded kinda simmilar
This feels like a Kirby True Arena theme.
DO NOT BRING BACK THE MEMORIES OF STAR DREAM SOUL OS
if Rex is introduced as a Smash Fighter, even as an echo for Shulk, this song NEEDS to be added to Smash
echo to shulk? never.
The only person from Xenoblade 2 that would work as a Shulk echo is Malos, every other character is too different from Shulk and would need a different move set.
Earthbound 3 i mean Zeke could work as a Cloud echo
Even if rex isn't added they need to put this song in smash
Rex in Ultimate? Never happening.
How did I completely sleep on this theme, that chorus is ascendant
Did you notice that in he Mikhail and Patroka fight, when Mikhail dies he says "Patroka... I love you"
but he doesn't die though
@@twewymuncher yes
@@twewymuncher "A real man never dies, even when he's killed!" --Kamina, Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann
"You guys fought Mikhail first?". I made Tora and Nia focus on Mikhail and used Rex to single-handedly take down Patroka and then Akhos.
Simp
“What’s happening, Mikhail?”
Zach Racer “Patroka..I..love youuuu!”
This sounds like someone mashed together Sekiro, Final Fantasy VIII, and Shin Megami Tensei soundtracks.
And I absolutely love it
why did i sleep on this song for so long its probably one of the best songs in the soundtrack
edit: I now just had the thought to replay the game to hear in witch bosses this plays in
Please be in Smash.
Edit: Fuck, yeah. It's coming!
Xenoblade 3 release got me listening to 2's OST again and 1:57 is still one of the filthiest moments of any song in the series
Truth.
I feel like 1:09 is where it really starts getting really good.
“BURNING SWORD!!!”
I really like that part of the song :-)
"SACRED ARROWS!"
My favorite part
The whole song is good
After playing Golden Country this song is just really sad
for real
After playing Golden Country, everything in this game is sad
@@EgotisticalAltruist Except Torigoth
Holy crap! I didn't even think about that. I used to think this was quite a kick ass song to show off their power, but now that you mention it, it more or less contains the vibes of a group which has righteous indignation through the power of wanton revenge that is thoroughly justified.
Damn Amalthus...
@@left129 so true
These clean rips are a joy to listen to, and they make creating covers/transcribing notes soooo much easier. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yes.
@@JackiW not so fast flamboyant boy,i activate my special ability, which allows me to throw my daughter down a cliff to obtain the final infinity stone
They really really didn’t need to go this hard on every battle theme they have but they did and I am forever grateful
Can’t believe in your second playthrough you can get Patroka, Mikhail, Akhos,
Perdido, Cressidus, Obrona, and Sever like woww!
This song is what I immediately think of when I think of Holiday 2017. Brings back memories...
Torna, the dudes straight out of Final Fantasy
Akhos and Kuja from FFIX have similar personalities
If I’m not mistaken, they share a character designer between them. For instance, Jin was designed by Sephiroth’s designer, I believe.
@@michaelmcdonald2005 yeah, that's why I called them that. It's pretty cool too.
@@keeysOST Nice
Good old Nomura
Wow with this version I noticed gor the forst time how much deep bass there is in this song.
This track needs more love

POV: It's Black Friday and you have that one item that everyone wants. Now everyone is after you and your friends and you and your friends must fight back.
Welcome to Smash Pyra/Mythra, now please this song in with you
Another chance for this to finally be in smash bros let's goo
Architect I hope so
Good news its in
It is a literal crime that this only plays 3 times during the main story.
Nice a much cleaner version of this! One of my favorite boss themes in the game!
the flute is so unusual yet it kinda fits
A bit ironic this never plays during a battle with Sever, who actually has a move called Death Match.
THIS OST FINALY GOT ADDED IN SMASH BROS LET'S GOOOOO!
When I first saw the title of this with very limited knowledge on the story (like I knew Torna was a country at least) I thought this spoiled the fact that like you’d fight the actual Tornan titan
That would have been amazing to be honest
When I first heard Exploration I thought you’d be riding Gramps around between Titans in real time, getting to see them around Alrest and everything
Okay, but this sounds like shit outta Team Plasma and I love it
I’m currently playing this game for the first time and I’m just past the fight with Akhos and when 2:38 started I got hyped!!
0:29 sounds like “Go Go Power Rangers!” from Mighty Morphing Power Rangers
The beginning of the song kind of reminds me of the master khoga battle theme
Kohga is dumb, and overweight.
Shulker Shulk
@@loaftreos3825 Indeed
Nia: it will be tough
ahkos:HEY ARE YOU CALLING ME A NERD
Abrona : SON of a 🅱
I put over 400 hours in this game
Smash just needs to put every battle theme from this game in with Pyra/Mythra, anything else is a disservice
EDIT: It's in!
And Mor Ardain and Gormott
Just put xenoblade 2 the game itself in smash
@@LennardSerpentje like they did with the demos for smash 4
Tfw no Power of Jin :(
They didn't put Monster Surprised You 😭
Ladies and gentlemen, it seems like everyone went all in. Whoever wins this round, wins everything
Royal Flush them!
This battle was a lot of fun
Morag jumped in and I was like OHHHK SPECIAL INQUISITOR!
Seriously though her and Brighid make such an iconic duo
We may have not gotten Power of Jin in Smash but at least we have this banger
That introduction really screams: "Agni Kai!"
When you get into an Agni Kai with Master Kohga
But can Na'el play it with a piano?
If she can do Bringer of Chaos Ultimate, anything is possible
Like I said A L L O U T
Now that this is in smash, just put pyra/Mythra against Sephiroth and you have Rex andPyra/Mythra vs Jin lol
This is easily my favorite battle theme in 2, it sounds so intense and high octane. It also has that Japanese feel to it and I love that
IT'S IN SMASH
This could be Cammuravis battle theme.
This should have played during the Torna's Finest challenge battle. There wasn't a more fitting theme for that one.
First 7 seconds. Sounds like they're gearing up for an Agni Kai.
Replying because I didn't want to make the comments triple 6 in number lmao. 667 now.
This sounds like something straight out of Okami.
Malos : No homo *Kiss* Jinn
Lora Spirit : *Angry*
Mark my words, it's gonna be in Smash
We did it bro!
1:08 every time, without fail, my brain goes “step on up to the plate, meet your fate… walk in…” it’s not a perfect match, but good enough for a Persona 4G connection in my brain.
CAUSE THIS AINT NO GAME! ITS TIME TO MAKE HISTORY
YEAHHHHHHHHH!
かっちょええぇえー!!
和風な感じとロックがあわさってる感じ最高!!😎
ゼノブレイド2の戦闘BGMほんとテンション上がる
Reminds me of the Tapu battle theme from Pokemon Sun/Moon
They both are really good themes ngl
I like 1:08, its when I feel the chain attack is best
"It's time to slam, and welcome to the jam..."
So happy this is in smash
Big Spoiler warning:
Outside of the obvious hint, it’s fun to see the torna members all being a hint towards catalyst reveal. since one by one it’s revealed that all torna members are blades (specifically the kind of blades that also can be drivers)
Makes me wonder if Pyra&mythra can be drivers.
They probably can. Outside of their respective element of light and dark they should have the same powers.
Flesh eaters.. they are no joke
Its gonna be very cool when the nia boss battle has this song remixed
What would be the counterpart for Melia? Or if you fight both at once
@@allingbrodniak8819 Maybe a remix of the future connected battle theme or alcamoth theme as a battle theme

ITS IN
finally in smash!!!! I need this song in smash 👌👌👌
That fight in chapter 6 made me change the difficulty setting to easy. I just couldn't beat it
Alfie Thomas I know right it's like the game went from normal to go fuck yourself difficulty
I actually didn't find it all that hard to be honest, then again all my units were like Lv 52 since I accidently overleveled everyone, kek
After playing the game and seeing Lora and hearing this song, I'm convinced Lora is basically Hinoka
no
yes
Lora is better by far. She doesn't have a smoking problem, or suffer from Fates writing
Adam The Black Mage
Truer words have never been spoken.
Well yes but actually no
The teacher after I said "Can I use the bathroom" instead of "May I" :
Might be my fav ost from the game, its tough to pick though
First listened to this in Smash and feel in love with it.
P.S. Why does it sound like something I'd hear from the Senran Kagura franchise? All well still good music.
(Future P.S: After playing and finishing Xenoblade 2 HOLY HELL this theme let's you know that EVERY Torna member means business. They can talk a lot of smack but they have the power and experience to back that shit up. Always be on guard and focus!)
*Master Kohga*
Thinking about akhos rn
This is truly the *Torna* moment of all time!!
