Used this music as the final battle theme for a dnd campaign I ran. The campaign basically played into all the other ones I made in that all of those worlds were created by scientists as experiments, after which point they ascended to godhood. The premise was that over the course of around 5 campaigns the players were slowly chipping away, felling one of the scientists per campaign, and using this song to cap all of this off after the players had realized that everything they had done over the years was connected was just the most amazing feeling.
This is the perfect final boss theme, it gives a vibe of intensity, and at 1:12 you start to get the feeling of the song grabbing you by the shoulders and saying "you can do this"
I love the musical motifs in this game. In this song in particular I just noticed how fitting that little part of "Counterattack/Loneliness" is stuck within the song. It really highlights the tone of the battle on the good side being the "counterattack" part and on the bad guy's perspective I think "loneliness" can be definitely applied. In regards to what side each character is on, it's a bit bittersweet amongst the epicness of the whole track
Yeah, if you pay attention to the OST, you can hear a little of some tracks, and what's make it even better is that each part fits well with the phases of the fight
Anyone else notice Aion’s black and white color scheme seemed reminiscent of Zanza’s final form, which itself borrowed elements from the Bionis and Mechonis respectively?
Correct. The game is full of dualities, once you start noticing them, you really start digging into how clever the structure of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 actually is (in relation to 1).
I hope it does now that pyra and mythra are in smash and I hope some other good songs like bringer of chaos and mor ardain are in the game along with the songs in the trailer
I could see this getting in, most end game songs get in, plus it is a fighting song, there are a lot of songs that may not get in since they aren’t fighting songs, but that isn’t an issue with this song
This fight was amazing not only was it a tough Boss fight for non grinding players but the fact u had to finish with a Chain Attack and the cutscenes AND HOW THE UNIVERSES ARE CONNECTED is what makes me want 2 more than 1
I finished the boss fight with the singular and only full burst attack I ever did I forgot full burst was a thing until it happened and I was so freaking hype you would not believe I may not hold this game as highly as XC1 but damn It was something special anyways. They really knocked it out of the park.
I didn't even use a single Chain Attack. Prometheus just... somehow managed to completely miss me the second time around. I still have no clue how that happened.
Skallo I had a similar thing happened on my second attempt on the boss fight (I lost on my first attempt). I was trying to finish up a blade combo so I can get an elemental orb, then switch to their true form then chain attack. But he used Prometheus sooner than I thought, and I used the special as he was using the attack. The entire screen was white, besides the button inputs for the special, after that, the screen faded out. I thought I lost, but then it played the cutscene that plays when you won. Aion was at around 1/4 of health. I didn’t think that the special would kill him. I know he was weak to light during that phase, but still.
I love Zanza the Divine, but, this is a better final boss song in my opinion. The way it ties in musical themes that go back to the very beginning sends chills down my spine. Musical storytelling at its finest, and its on a whole other level of its own. XC2 has just an astronomical soundtrack.
Well, Zanza the Divine can also be heard in a lot of the music in Xenoblade 1. Most noticeably in Satorl Marsh (Night), Frontier Village, Prison Island, and even the final part of the main guitar solo in You Will Know Our Names.
Zanza’s themes are great but I just prefer After Despair & Hope because well...it’s exactly what the title says. Plus I can’t get enough of guitar riffs
The best part of this theme is how well it matches its respective title. I can literally feel the despair in the opera and I can then feel the hope that Rex and them are representative of when the flashes of “Counterattack” are played. It’s honestly a well thought out and great piece. Zanza was good and all but all I felt when listening to that song was despair, which is not what happened in the end so to me it is inferior to this theme. This theme is not only great on its own merits, it’s also symbolic of the events currently happening when the theme plays which is true selling point.
That's because Zanza is meant to show how powerful and dominating the final boss is. He freaking destroys and rebuilds universes on whim during the fight and his form turns into a more grotesque fusion of the two titans as the fight progresses. The entire dynamic changes when phase 3 comes about and The God-Slaying Sword starts playing, which is the track that is meant to make _you_ feel powerful and ruthless. You didn't do Blade 1 final boss themes justice. Their usage is also sublime and powerful, but in different ways.
My older sister was over at my house when I was beating this game and when the first piano solo started she started freaking out even though she hasn’t played the games.
I think it's really telling that Malos' theme in Torna is just a version of Amalthus'. But by the end of XB2, he's self-actualized enough to have his own final boss theme
This song is actually epic as hell. I feel this distinct memory that the only reason I won was because RNGesus blessed me and allowed Tora to survive with 1 HP.
@@sheep2316 maybe they could rename it into The Divine God or something else like that. That’s the term I usually use discussing the final boss music for 1.
The moment the XC2 leitmotif hits gives you goosebumps. (In a good way of course) It’s magical, it gives you flashbacks to the journey you’ve been through, it’s the culmination of everything. Truly beautiful.
You can really feel it when you hear this malos has lost everything and has completely unraveled and is determined to destroy everything no matter the cost and Rex and the gang are determined to stop him no matter what
I beat the game 2 hours ago and at 3:25 it was THIS part of the track where the Overkill started, Zeke started to deliver the finishing blow to Malos. Amazing.
Not underrated, perhaps the best battle music up there with torna battle theme... its just... we only got a chance to listen to this battle theme once on the entire game and prometheus erase our memory of this theme lol
Well It The Final Bosses Theme After all Sure But Back in Smash 4 We Didn't even Get Kirby Crowned Theme and In Smash Ultimate we didn't get Star Dreams Theme Ir Void Termmia Theme despite planetrobobot being like 2 years old at most and xenoblade 2 was 4 and more plot and endgame spoller focus so mabye next smash bros (Most likey expected a Complete Reboot of the fighter roster hoping that give us More Bizarre Choices then Popular ones)
The part where Malos starts using Prometheus, I got him at the last second, I couldn't tell how I survived but I got him the moment my party started taking damage it was shocking I thought I was dead. if only I was able to clip it.
While fighting Morag in Klaus's visions she told Rex she was disappointed in him which shocked me to the core since she had spent most of the game encouraging him and basically treating him like another little brother. So imagine how happy I was when fighting Aion for the first time and Rex got nuked by Prometheus, that it was Morag who helped him up. She and Zeke somehow managed to survive. Edit: Just started playing Xenoblade 1. Already a bunch of little moments like that.
@@gachalibra9243 Speaking of screaming I was completely knocked over when Shulk screamed "I'll kill you!" after Fiora got killed. I heard everyone say how good it was, but I was unprepared for how so. I just got to Makna Forest, but I know there's still so much more shock to go.

Rookiewarrior64 nah it’s a simple misunderstanding. I know what a rare blade is, your comment made it seem like there is a cutscene were all the named blades come together to fight the boss, so I’m confused
I like this a lot more than Zanza, to be honest. The melody to me is more memorable, and the references to Counterattack (which plays at the game's first major boss fight) is brilliant since this is the final boss fight!
TheSpeedymouse Zanza is unique- but for me it is more a Character Theme then a final boss theme. XC2 Final Boss Theme is a bombastic and dramatic take and has a beautiful melody. I also prefer it.
It feels like they couldn't decide what to do with the main part, so they just reused it endlessly in this track instead of only a few times like a regular song was, and didn't let much else accompany it.
i think this may be my favourite final boss theme ever, it just does everything a final battle theme should do and cranks it up to 11, and never fails to make me emotional, what a fantastic ost
Beat this game yesterday at like 3 am and holy crap what a finale. I think I might like this more than God slaying sword or zanza the divine but that might shift cause both are incredible. I never noticed it initially cause I was trying to build up orbs for the chain attack but now listening to it I just can't get over hope beautiful this song is. Getting a full burst was so satisfying seeing the gang go all out to stop Malos was just the cherry on top.
Wow listening to this is making me high key tempted to spoil the final boss for myself but I will (hopefully) resist that urge because I've been playing this game 90% blind and enjoying every minute of it. (I got one thing spoiled for me but it was like... right before it happened so whatever)
Shame this won’t be in smash but it hits so hard during the actual final boss fight that I hope it maybe surprises some new players when they reach it rather than smash spoiling it
The moment I realised this incredible adventure was at it's end actually got me in tears. This game has been an incredible experience and I want to check out the rest of them! I've also heard a few segments of CounterAttack within this theme, that's awesome as well!
According to the lore, the serpents and the mechs, including Aeon, the final boss, are not manmade, instead produced and powered by the Gate (Conduit). Now, the lore of funny shaped slate provides energy and produce mech, this one seems really, really familiar...

I assumed that it was supposed to be Pneuma’s weapon with the red and white representing Pyra and Mythra.
@@noahchars849 it can still be represented as pyra and mythra’s color scheme but it’s up to us
This Sounds Like Dadas Broke Music
Also I see little people mention the similarities betwen Bionis and Siren, their silouettes are pretty similar.
this song is so underrated. im worried it wont get into smash because of that but i need it SO BADDDDDDDDDD
SAMEEEE
FOR THE LIVE OF ZANZA
I hope it does now that pyra and mythra are in smash and I hope some other good songs like bringer of chaos and mor ardain are in the game along with the songs in the trailer
I could see this getting in, most end game songs get in, plus it is a fighting song, there are a lot of songs that may not get in since they aren’t fighting songs, but that isn’t an issue with this song
we also need Zanza The Divine and The God-Slaying Sword
This fight was amazing not only was it a tough Boss fight for non grinding players but the fact u had to finish with a Chain Attack and the cutscenes AND HOW THE UNIVERSES ARE CONNECTED is what makes me want 2 more than 1
I finished the boss fight with the singular and only full burst attack I ever did
I forgot full burst was a thing until it happened and I was so freaking hype you would not believe
I may not hold this game as highly as XC1 but damn
It was something special anyways. They really knocked it out of the park.
I grinded a lot... This fight was cake sadly. Zanza was harder.
I didn't even use a single Chain Attack. Prometheus just... somehow managed to completely miss me the second time around.
I still have no clue how that happened.
Sadly this boss was stupid easy on easy difficulty
Agreed! Exactly.
I can go either or.
I /greatly/ prefer it to God-Slaying Sword though.
Well, Zanza the Divine can also be heard in a lot of the music in Xenoblade 1. Most noticeably in Satorl Marsh (Night), Frontier Village, Prison Island, and even the final part of the main guitar solo in You Will Know Our Names.
It could have been a little bit longer though
Coming back after 3 years.
Yep it's still my favorite XC game.
Same XC3 takes second place though
@@Honest_Mids_Masher it does do the series justice honestly but the character interaction is still best in xc1
@@villaniousmustache4898 ehh idk about that tbh it comes down to preference

Still my least favorite game in the series but I’ve grown a little bit fond of it
Rex: "If only I had been your driver, Malos... Maybe..."
Malos: "Ah! The things kids say... There's only ever been one driver for me..."

By far the best final boss theme in all of Xenoblade.
After the Malos battle in Torna, it’s an undisputed fact if you ask me.
Nah, doesn't even come close to Zanza's theme(s)
Zanza’s themes are great but I just prefer After Despair & Hope because well...it’s exactly what the title says. Plus I can’t get enough of guitar riffs
for me the future redeemed final boss theme is the best but i respect your opinion

ishmal koch I agree.
I still think that "Acting God" is the true final boss theme in x2.
After despair and hope is too sad.
@@tollyboyer3707 makes you really feel that Malos was damned by his drivers hatred. Never had a chance
Dream Eagle I love how this shows that the final battle is more tragic than epic
I don't really know why but I love the line he says when he uses Siren Buster.
This is the thunder of justice! Siren Buster!
It's probably the beast voicing Malos
Doing max chain damage on this fight and having it be the killing move is the most satisfying end to a final boss I've ever had.
Agree.
also i still think that "Acting God" is the true final boss theme in x2.
After despair and hope is too sad.

And that part of Counterattack is actually taken from Engage The Enemy. So. That’s cool I guess.

The part where Malos starts using Prometheus, I got him at the last second, I couldn't tell how I survived but I got him the moment my party started taking damage it was shocking I thought I was dead. if only I was able to clip it.
2:49 and 3:15 they really snuck in bits of Counterattack :´)

I interpret this song as the final counterattack. There is no going back after this fight and the main characters have to win

EnderMon I really don’t even even feel like dignifying your questions with an answer because if you played this 60+ hour game from start to end and not know what a rare blade is then that’s completely on you.
Rookiewarrior64 nah it’s a simple misunderstanding. I know what a rare blade is, your comment made it seem like there is a cutscene were all the named blades come together to fight the boss, so I’m confused
Theres nothing better than fighting this boss with kos-mos

I like this a lot more than Zanza, to be honest. The melody to me is more memorable, and the references to Counterattack (which plays at the game's first major boss fight) is brilliant since this is the final boss fight!
TheSpeedymouse Zanza is unique- but for me it is more a Character Theme then a final boss theme. XC2 Final Boss Theme is a bombastic and dramatic take and has a beautiful melody. I also prefer it.
I love Zanza more personally but there is no arguing about how legendary 2:49 is
It feels like they couldn't decide what to do with the main part, so they just reused it endlessly in this track instead of only a few times like a regular song was, and didn't let much else accompany it.

I like both songs. Zanza the Divine and The God Slaying Sword.
This song perfectly captures the feeling of despair that ya boi final boss is feeling, and also how much is at stake if you lose.
