Everything about this scene was excellent, it was the duel at Valak Mountain all over again. 1: Rex's crushing defeat at Jin's hands was shocking for everyone. 2: Pyra's sacrifice play was brilliantly executed. 3: Jin's parting words to Rex pretty much destroyed him.
This is kinda like the scene on Valak Mountain: 1. Mumkar and Patroka with the boys getting defeated. 2. Overpowered guy comes in(Egil and Jin) 3. Main protagonist shouting for girlfriend 4. Get them back after a bit
@@maxrichards3881 are we talking about the same scene where jin suddenly decides he's the strongest guy in the universe, can control all elementary particles, counter all attacks, move at the speed of light, and bring the temperature down to absolute zero? Like seriously? Do the devs even understand how physics works? If he can move at the speed of light, he can retrieve Pyra faster than anything could destroy her. If he could bring something to absolute zero, just freeze Pyra, and she can't do anything. (And how is anyone alive after all this) And forget Jin for a second. In the face of all this plot BS, what in the world makes Pyra think she can destroy herself before Jin could do anything about it. AND THEY BELIEVE HER? Further on that. Pyra's goal for getting to Elysium in the first place, is so she can destroy herself. Well according to this scene, SHE CAN ALREADY DO EXACTLY THAT, without going to Elysium, and at any point in time. So wtf is the point of everything? This scene (and many others) is honestly embarrassing and I don't know why you guys turn a blind eye to it and act like it's a masterpiece
@@dugtrioramen Ok, that a cornucopia of bullshit. From the top: 1: This a fantasy world. A suspension of disbelief is required to make it work. This like hating on a Pokémon game because Pokémon exist. 2: Pyra said it herself: “One wrong move, and my body will be scoured from this world… faster than you can blink.” This implies that Jin, as fast he is, can’t react in time for this. 3: Jin is able to chill things down to absolute zero, but remember that he only managed to do so when he had time to charge it. In the battle of Morytha, he’s standing off to the side while Malos is doing the dirty work. 4: As for asking how anyone is alive after the fight, I’ll put it like this… Jin only intends to kill Rex, because he has half of the Aegis’s core crystal. 5: Pyra’s earlier conversation with Azurda indicates that her sense of duty in defeating Jin and Malos is taking priority. She could’ve just destroyed herself as soon as siren awoke, but with her gone, and Jin and Malos still alive, that basically dooms the world. 6: She’s going to Elysium not just to end her life, but also to know the truth of her existence before the end. Malos also does something similar later in the game, getting the answers he’s looking for, rather going straight for Aion. We’re not “turning a blind eye” to anything, you just didn’t pay attention. I admit this game has some flaws, but this scene isn’t one of them.
@@maxrichards3881 Nice response. But it's still BS. From the top again 😉: 1. Yes both are fantasy worlds, but this game makes direct references to real life physics. Jin even says stuff like "your body is too heavy to move at the speed of light". They're clearly trying to be somewhat realistic, but are majorly half-assing it. Pokemon sticks to it's fantasy 2. "Faster than you can blink". Okay, but if this guy can move at the speed of light, it doesn't matter how fast he blinks. Nothing is faster than light. And you might argue that she can self destruct at the speed of light. But it's not Jin who's reacting, it's her. She's waiting to see if Jin will buy her threat. But that just means Jin can neutralize her in the time it takes for her body to even realize he didn't buy it. 3. Fine, maybe he has to charge. Then why does he even bother engaging with your party. He pops in unsuspectingly anyways. Why not just charge while they don't know you're there, then jump in and freeze em. Then just take whatever they need. In fact, why not do exactly what they did in Morytha and have malos fight while he charges (And I also recall him insta freezing amalthus at the end anyways) 4. Jin is plenty happy killing off many soldiers and haze throughout the story, so I don't buy that he didn't want to kill or something. I especially wouldn't buy that rex is special or something, because Jin doesn't think that until the land of Morytha 5. You say her priorities are to get rid of malos and Jin, yet she hides her power and crucial knowledge from the start. Even when Mythra was awakened, she was pissed to be awake at all. Doesn't really seem like a priority at that point. So sometimes it's a priority and sometimes it's not? 6. Sure you can say that, but I don't remember her ever describing that as her motives. Sure she asks the architect questions when they get there, but so would anyone else given the opportunity Anyways, even if that is the case, it's pretty shallow of her, don't you think? It makes plenty of sense for malos to go through all these lengths and risk so much to find out answers, because this guy doesn't care. But Pyra's roping everybody into this and risking everyone's lives. Is she really doing that just to get a few answers? It's respectable of her to do it just to disappear, so she can save the world, but to just to satisfy her own curiosity is Malos level Anyways, it's definitely not a matter of me paying attention or not as I've beaten this game 3 times already, and watched some streamers play as well. From what I can tell, the writers had genius overarching and big ideas for the story, but pretty bad writing when it came down to smaller story moments. And that compounds with their push for very cheesy tropes. I still love the game despite it's embarrassing cutscenes, but it's weird to see people praise some of the worst parts
You know, I'd never played Xenoblade 1 nor had I seen the original scene with Klaus But somehow I just FELT like I knew it was a connection to the 1st game I think that says something about impactful of a scene it is all by itself

I also find it hilariously ironic that Jin calls someone else a fool. He's the one taking out his despair on everyone instead of just that one guy who wronged him.
SquirtleMaster The first few chapters were slow af. Like, if the game was like the first few chapters, it would be a 3/10. The rest of game tho is like an 8-10/10
Such an impactful theme. When I hear this, I think back to that final shot at the end of Chapter 6, where after being mentally destroyed and Pyra taken away from him, Rex aimlessly looks around for Pyra, broken blade in hand, before screaming out to her. I get chills every time, and this is most definitely the turning point in the game where everything gets much more serious from then on
I still remember in 2017 when I jumped from my seat and freaked when I realized 2 was happening simultaneously as 1. I thought 2 was a standalone thing like Final Fantasy is with each entry.
The sacrifice play from Pyra was excellent. That whole scene where she hands herself over hurts to watch, you feel the pain that they both feel... It's the lowest point Rex is in the story. Masterpiece.

I cannot even put into words, just how much this song makes me think I'm watching something I'm not meant to see. Some kind of a deity must've smiled upon this beautiful piece of music, because It was like a god themselves performed the actions behind it. It truly feels like what I'm witnessing is the end and beginning of everything. The tension caused by the rhythm being kept by the strong strings that start at the beginning of the track. Only daring to be broken up by a choir and a graceful piano, like they're some sort of divine intervention to try and clarify what it is you're watching. God, this cutscene was beyond perfect, the arrangement just goes with every scene, every spoken piece of dialogue, so perfectly. @@williaml3025 from what my boyfriend told me who owned and played the game extensively like this one. X's gamepad interface was so in depth that doing a port of the game will be either incredibly difficult or nigh impossible

"You don't have that kind of power."

This is kinda like the scene on Valak Mountain:
1. Mumkar and Patroka with the boys getting defeated.
2. Overpowered guy comes in(Egil and Jin)
3. Main protagonist shouting for girlfriend
(And how is anyone alive after all this)
And forget Jin for a second.
@@dugtrioramen
Ok, that a cornucopia of bullshit. From the top:
1: This a fantasy world.
From the top again 😉:
1. Yes both are fantasy worlds, but this game makes direct references to real life physics. Jin even says stuff like "your body is too heavy to move at the speed of light". They're clearly trying to be somewhat realistic, but are majorly half-assing it. Pokemon sticks to it's fantasy
In fact, why not do exactly what they did in Morytha and have malos fight while he charges
(And I also recall him insta freezing amalthus at the end anyways)
4. Jin is plenty happy killing off many soldiers and haze throughout the story, so I don't buy that he didn't want to kill or something. I especially wouldn't buy that rex is special or something, because Jin doesn't think that until the land of Morytha
Sure she asks the architect questions when they get there, but so would anyone else given the opportunity
Anyways, even if that is the case, it's pretty shallow of her, don't you think? It makes plenty of sense for malos to go through all these lengths and risk so much to find out answers, because this guy doesn't care. But Pyra's roping everybody into this and risking everyone's lives. Is she really doing that just to get a few answers? It's respectable of her to do it just to disappear, so she can save the world, but to just to satisfy her own curiosity is Malos level
Anyways, it's definitely not a matter of me paying attention or not as I've beaten this game 3 times already, and watched some streamers play as well.

Such an impactful theme. When I hear this, I think back to that final shot at the end of Chapter 6, where after being mentally destroyed and Pyra taken away from him, Rex aimlessly looks around for Pyra, broken blade in hand, before screaming out to her. I get chills every time, and this is most definitely the turning point in the game where everything gets much more serious from then on
I still get goosebumps whenever I listen to this, and it's been nearly 4 years since I first played this game.
XC2 feels so disconnected from 1 up until this scene, when everything falls in place at once.
truly the decision of all time
The fact that this scene so clearly paralleled the opening of xenogears made me so happy
The most important cutscene in the entire series, by far!!
I like how this has like all the Jin motifs and yet it's become so far overshadowed by a later event.
This is the single most hype cutscene I’ve ever seen in a game!
(It also plays when Jin kidnaps Pyra in Tantal but still)
I still remember in 2017 when I jumped from my seat and freaked when I realized 2 was happening simultaneously as 1. I thought 2 was a standalone thing like Final Fantasy is with each entry.
The sacrifice play from Pyra was excellent. That whole scene where she hands herself over hurts to watch, you feel the pain that they both feel... It's the lowest point Rex is in the story. Masterpiece.
