What a way to welcome you into a game. After you get past the initial preamble, you step out of a cave and into this massive, open green field with a continentally massive beast's head off in the distance. Meanwhile this exciting music is calling you in, telling you to take a reckless sprint through the Gormott Plains.
Then proceed to perish to Territorial Rotbart

The combat system is sure something. I just learned how elemental bursts work, how to abuse blade swapping, and how partially how to build a character for their archetype as I'm just now entering the bottom of the World Tree.

This has to be the most underrated track from the ost. Roaming the Wastes, Drifting Souls, and Counterattack are all amazing, but people seem to acknowledge only those tracks and forget about this one. It's so epic, grand, beautiful like the others.
Others are even more underrated, like Leftheria
candle leftherian archipelago is not underrated lol
@@swaggod8071 yes it is. Check the views and comments on it compared to all the other area themes
This track is what made me immensely love Xeno2. Coming from XenoX, I'll admit I was disappointed because it was constantly advertised as a "spiritual successor" to Xeno 1 (Treehouse demos and others), but it didn't feel like it at all. Then for Xenoblade 2 I decided to go on a media blackout from way early after it was announced. I actually forgot the trailer shown at E3, and only vaguely remembered the reveal trailer from the start of 2017.
Before exiting out to the field, I thought "Hmm, is this gonna be like Gaur Plain?" so I changed the time to day before exiting the forest aclove, and when the music kicked in, the largest nostalgia wave hit me. Xenoblade 2 was the game I was hoping for for all these years, since playing the EU version in 2011 haha.
Roaming the wastes and Uraya are still singlehandedly the best songs in the entire xc2 ost imo, i really liked the torna gormott though
Smash just got so many incredible additions to its soundtrack!
I agree!
YESSSSSSS
I’m genuinely curious why they added A Ship from a Stormy Sea tho. That song only plays in one cutscene in the beginning lmao. I’d replace that one with a Tantal remix.

I love how it takes over 3 minutes for the main theme to actually kick in, goes to show how much confidence they had that you will be exploring this world for a very long time
3:40 gave me chills when I first heard it in the announcement trailer, and it still does.
Holy shit you can really appreciate this especially the vocal bit from 3:40 onward with this clean rip, cheers dude!
That hits hard!! so good :)

Hearing Gormott's theme for the first time really amazed me during the first visit to Gormott the same way Gaur plains did during the first visit to Bionis leg. Much like gaur plains, this track is the beginning of a wonderful adventure.

Its these deadening sensations amend the bends in a road best left forgotten.
This song feels like a nod to Gaur Plains
I've only watched somebody play this game, and I listened to the soundtrack a lot and it has just become pure nostalgia
I remember buying this game never playing any xenoblade games before went in blind, never seen anything about it, it was a gamble 50/50 the moment I got in the game I flipping loved it sinked in many hours replayed the game many times. This game has really impacted how much I've love open world games. Honestly top 3 of all time. Soundtracks everything is beautiful
Tried Xenoblade Chronicles 1 already?
@@Justforvisit That one was my first, specifically the Definitive Edition. I love it so far.
Same. I was just looking for a game to play back in 2018 . I remember watching a RUclipsr playing this game and saying it was a great game so I bought it and the rest is history. 1:25 - 2:00 is unbelievable. That’s the part that really yanks the player’s attention, like “hey we worked hard on this music, listen to it”
That part is so reverie.
That part is so reverie...
Gaur Plains, step aside... and then step back in front, because even though this track is fantastic, you are still the original and still my favorite piece from the Xenoblade series.
IMO, Gaur plains is still way better. Gormott is great, don't get me wrong, but it's never had that Gaur Plains magic. Just not the same.
Yep! I totally agree.
The only part this song has over Gaur Plains is the choir kicking in part way through. Other than that, yeah, Gaur Plains takes the win.
Xylon Yea this song is a bit underwhelming
after listening to both a couple of times now, i think i'll go with this one
This was where the game really started feeling like Xenoblade and really drawing me into it.

I wish this song made it into Smash Ultimate
TS64 and Rex & Pyra/Mythra with even more music
Unfortunately this game was only just being made when ultimate started development. So they were only really able to include a couple of tracks.
But with more dlc characters on the way i wouldn't say it's entirely unlikely.
Korbin Wasilewski Yeah, considering Sakurai’s reasoning for it, I’d say people are optimistic.
@@slashsight6577 That excuse sounded really weak, at least when it comes to DLC... They were able to include Byleth, from a 2019 Fire Emblem game, but not Rex (other than as a Mii costume)... There's a clear bias in the Smash team towards Fire Emblem, that much is obvious...
@@WhyFi59 Just thinking about that makes me sad. At least the XC2 soundtrack is real good.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s answer to Gaur Plains. Both magnificent themes for magnificent games.
The small guittar part at 3:53 made me feel weirdly nostalgic
This track is so perfect. And to make it available so early in the game was smart; made you look forward to the rest of the music in the game.
So, I was spoiled on Territorial Rotbart being in both XC1 and 2 before playing either. Played XC1, avoided it with ease, came back and killed it in a later playthrough, whatever. Finally got around to playing XC2 this month, got to Gormott, and immediately began looking out for the beast. Saw it, but wasn't close enough to be sure, so I went a bit closer so I could target it to be sure and then avoid it. Got distracted by one of those save-an-NPC quests, then the Rotbart was gone. Decided to just keep moving, figuring I'd find it later.
That MF executed the *cleanest* enter stage right I've ever seen and slapped me into the sun for my hubris. 10 / 10 game
This is like a fresh new gaur plains and I fucking love it. They did such a great job.

So we know the Gormotti are returning in Xenoblade 3, and we saw what looks like a dead Uraya at the end, who wants to bet Gormott will be back too?
3:40
This made me Monado Bust
This track is honestly just unbelievable, like actually unfathomably good. Every little memory of roaming in Xenoblade 2's large overworld just comes flooding back in my mind when I'm listening to this. It's so grand, so fitting of a JRPG like this, I can't help but feel like being on Nintendo's underpowered consoles, Monolith simply has not been able to truly express its most authentic capabilities in game design, and despite these limitations still manages to make some of the most memorable and nostalgic experiences of all time. I seriously can't wait for the next console so they can just put every other developer to shame.
Already started loving Gormott, it’s is awesome!!
I love this game.
3:40 I wish this part was more prevalent in the song. I loved it in the teaser trailer
Agreed. It is the best part!! and oh so fleeting!
Ehh, if it was more present in the track, would it have the same punch to it though?
@@GrizbyK72 good point, but the buildup to it takes forever and then the part is not even that long

This music was so good but I'm going to be forever scarred from walking near the lake with the big tree in the middle right after starting the game and getting killed multiple times, all on my way to Gormott
3:40 This part gives me chills but also makes me sad that I never played this game properly, just watched the cutscenes! Did it for XB3 as well and now I regret it, it's just not the same! I still love this series though.
