    This song was written to commemorate the USA Bicentennial in 1976.

    I was a teenager in the 70s. One of my favorite groups and one of my favorite songs and singers back then, and still true today. Brings tears to my eyes. 😢😢❤❤ Thank you for your honest opinion. I love my country, America!

    The word "suite" (pronounced like "sweet") has a couple of meanings that are somewhat similar. In a hotel, you can rent a suite which means that it has more than one room or may have a few different rooms. In music, it is similar, it means that a musical piece has many parts. The term is more typical in classical music but Crosby Stills and Nash have a song called "Suite Judy Blue Eyes". Like this song, it has multiple parts.

  • @jamesgoldman6942
    @jamesgoldman6942 8 месяцев назад +4

    The meaning of the song is that the song was written for the Bicentennial in 1976. Suite Madame Blue is metaphor saying that just like a young girl loses her innocence when she ages, in 200 years our country (USA) has completely lost its innocence.
    In 1991 Styx had their final top 10 song " Show Me The Way " while it doesnt rock like this one IMO it was the best song and video of the 90's. The video for that song depicts innocence lost like no other song has ever. I believe you will love it.
    Thank you for playing and commenting on my favorite Styx song here. Suite Madame Blue closes out the Equinox album. Equinox is my favorite album of all time.

    I love both of your comments on the song I agree it could be applied to any country. I seen Styx many times. They were always amazing live. Dennis DeYoung is one of the most powerful voices of the time ,and the rest of the band singing harmonies and their musicianship was perfection. An awesome and still relevant song all these years later.

    • @jeanluke39
      @jeanluke39 8 месяцев назад

      Their voices harmonies remind me of queen , and the beatles , you can hear each voices come all along together, but still you can recognise each one of them voices in those harmonies.... ABBA , the Bee Gees had that same crazy voice'blending ...

    The song is about America being a fairly new country that did very well but also lost its way over short time. They sing about waking up and joining the world view. You're not a child anymore.

    I think Mr.DeYoung wrote Suite Madame Blue as a tribute and a warning to his beloved country. He is saying the ideals of the American experience once truly meant something and the World yearned to have freedom.However as America grew up,she grew powerful and it is the use of that power that is a warning many great Empires lost control of in their zeal to hold it.The World needs a strong America but not a bully ,policeman of the Earth.

    I have met Tommy Shaw twice once in 1990 and 2019. Extremely nice guy. As for Styx, Dennis DeYoung wanted to take them into REO Speedwagon(minus Gary Richrath RIP), teeny bop commercialized songs. "In Your Letter", Mr. Roboto-absolute vomit and many more. The older music was so good and then it's like, Michael McDonald playing for the Doobie Brothers, but they did win Album of the Year with him when Tom Johnston was ill. Then fast forward to this year and after May, Johnston out again and MM filling in. They should have used more of John Cowan's New Grass Revival songs or at lease let him sing more that 2 songs per concert. Finally, the 70's and early 80's were the era for REAL R&R. My opinion and worth what I would pay for it. Probably $0!!
