    I have the same bike with the stage 1 kit, 3910x spark plug and I upgraded the clutch to a Max-Torque. I've always used Castrol Titanium full synthetic oil I feel like it does make a difference. Plus when you use maybe 2 quarts a year....I feel like it is money well spent. I plan on removing the governor this weekend and upgrading the valve springs.....then I'll be done. I might upgrade to a torque converter in the next year, but I'm in no hurry at all. I only have $490 invested in the entire setup and I feel like I definitely got my money worth.

I found ur video bc I was looking at some videos bc the clutch chain broke with me riding the other night! It broke the master link on the opposite side of the clip! So I guess until the new chain comes in it’s bicycles LOL I ride it way more that my son Hell I even drive it to Walgreens about every afternoon it’s only about 3 1/2 miles from the house! I strap a toolkit to my back rack with extra parts in case it ever breaks on road. Had to walk it a mile once when my master link broke as well, said never again lol

    You were supposed to remove the governor arm which restricts the trottle and the metal rod that goes into the case from underneath the gas tank. Thats why its not starting right away

  • @coreystirling1863
    @coreystirling1863 11 месяцев назад +1

    Don't even think about doing this !
    Makes the bike completely untrustworthy due to the wide open throttle issue that will certainly happen and internal engine damage. I did this governor removal and learned the hard way. If you want more speed get the torque converter mod.

    • @neillameier8644

      All you have to do is modify the carb to work with the throttle with the governor gone or get a carb the throttle runs through.

  • @dstolarc

    There is a simple way to remove that governor without fighting with that clip. Remove the flywheel and simply punch out that pin that holds it. The entire assembly will come out. If you want to you can thread the hole in that block for a 1/4-20 bolt of just install the pin back in the hole. Much, Much easier than fighting with the clip...

      How do you "wire open the governor?"

    • @briano6167
      @briano6167 Месяц назад

      You should be able to find the spring that's external to the engine which connects to the governor shaft/lever and either increase the spring strength (which counteracts the flyweights that they removed), or wire it solid in the direction that the governor spring is pulling it. Finding a spring that's the right length and stiffer might be a challenge, but if you can find one, it would be easier than ripping into the engine. Or try shortening the hooked end of the current spring (if you can bend it), which will increase the effective strength of the spring.

    I have a ct100 and just picked up a ct200 the other day. Its interesting how I was able to get my 100 to hit 35-40 mph just by removing the limiters on it. It has no torque at all and wont even pull me up a hill in grass but it can fly pretty good on the street. Never had any issue holding it at WOT max rpm for long period of time
    The ct200 is polar opposite. 10X the torque and balls down low but then just falls on its face/hits the limiters at like 25 mph.
    Ct200 is much more enjoyable off road but i think my little 100 would fly by the 200 on the street currently. Gonna have to remove the limiter.

    • @NVSRides
      @NVSRides  6 лет назад +1

    • @justinschmidt1
      @justinschmidt1 6 лет назад

      Yea I can tell you without a doubt the ct100 has a higher top speed than the Ct200 with just the throttle screw backed out all the way. It may take 1/4 mile to get there but it gets there LOL. Using GPS app on my phone I was seeing 33-35 on the 100 and almost 40 down hill. Id assume its all in the gearing. The ct100 doesnt have a jackshaft at all so has no low end but higher top speed.

      I have a ct100u too and it does 38mph with tacking screw off for gov... I put a peddle bike computer on it and programed it to tire size. ps I way about 160. I did put a chain titchener on it otherwise it would throw the chain. I awe so have a predator 212 non hemi and does 24 -30mph thinking about getting tires from a ct200u and putting them on my ct100u any one know if they will fit? and how about putting a torque converter to get more hp for up hills? looking to spend less then $150 maybe $200. I awe so put a amo box on the front for battery to hook up head, break, turn, running lights and got it registered at the dmv as a moped in Michigan!

    18lb valve springs, billet rod, billet flywheel, header, 22mm mikuni carb, torque converter. 60mph easy. The valve springs alone will get you more rpm so more speed. The billet parts are to keep the stock parts from detonating. Carb and header are for better breathing. When you get the rod get one that is .020 longer for more compression.

      in the stock form the governor arm(in the crankcase) was pushed out further than it is after this mod. removing and leaving out the plastic cap/nub that sits on top of the "governor stud" allows the governor arm outside the crankcase to let the throttle hang open. add a spring from external gov arm pulling towards front of bike.

  • @hornmonk3zit

    I wouldn't recommend messing with the governor much on an unupgraded motor unless it's a Tillotson or a real Honda, the cast flywheels are known for exploding and sending people to the morgue even at stock RPMs, and from personal experience I can tell you you will warp the valves in a couple hours of use and basically kill the engine and if the rods or crank break you will definitely kill the engine. Best way to get a speed increase on this particular Coleman is to buy a new sprocket for the jackshaft, I believe stock it's a 10 to 20 tooth setup and all you have to do is switch out the 20 to another 10 to double your top speed. It'll be a little slower on the uptake but on flat streets it won't make much difference, if you're planning actually offroading then upgrade or swap the engine and either keep the stock gear ratio or don't change it as much.

    Wow that's great! Now you could low the great ratios to get more acceleration!!! Maybe loose some of the speed you gained, but get better power down! What does that big nylon grear drive? Also I wonder, if you need to go inside the engine? What connects to that arm under the gas tank? You know the one that's contracted to the mechanism inside? I bet if you remove that link from the arm to the carb? Leave the inside alone and dismantle the linkage in the outside! Now either get a smaller sprocket at the engines end, or a bigger sprocket on the rear wheel. That would lower you gearing to give you better acceleration, but take away mph on top, from 34 to maybe 30? But it would climb hills better and be better in mud and sand!! Now try looking at what I said on the nice camo bike! See if you could disconnect whatever the governor does outside the crankcase! I bet it can be done in minutes! But beware! You will go through engines faster! You can also try bigger carbs. Open exhaust pipes! To help the engines last, try adding Marvell Mystery Oil to the gasoline! Just a couple ounces would help the top end, it would also slow the burn in the combustion chamber down, in effect raising the octane of the gas! It would also help cool it down! Good luck!! I bet with a tq converter that little bike would go 40+ mph!!

    • @robspear03
      @robspear03 5 лет назад

      TQs actually rob power, up to 10-15%. Due to friction.

    • @hornmonk3zit

      @@NVSRides The intake valve is almost certainly warped and not closing so it's basically letting in fuel all the time, the valves instantly start warping if you don't get them 18lb springs before removing the governor. I toasted my go kart's engine the same way only it lost half it's power and randomly slams to a stall while driving. You should also get a billet flywheel or engine swap to a Tillotson before the stock flywheel grenades into your crotch.
      Edit: Or it could be the governor arm shifted in inside the crank case and is doing the opposite of governing because you left it in the engine hooked up to the carb.

      @@coreystirling1863 You mean the governor arm thing? There's a little arm coming down inside the case that normally is controlled by the plastic governor gear, without the gear there it can noodle around and hold the throttle open if the long double hooked spring is still connected to it from the throttle body. What you normally do when removing a governor do what they do in the video and remove that arm and the long spring, then you tap the hole where the arm was with 1/4"-20 threads and screw a bolt with some loctite in there to plug up the hole.
