We don't need no stinking helmets! Please be safe, ICU sucks. Cool truck, bikes, and video. I removed the plastic clip from my 9.9 hp Tohatsu outboard that I used to power my 11 meter Sillenger rhib and my 24' 1963 Columbia Challenger sailboat. the 15hp and 9.9 are the same, however, the 9.9 has a plastic piece, that prevents the motor from gaining an additional 400 rpm that the 15hp(same motor) has. As you can imagine, a 50% increase in power is super awesome.
That governor wasn't put there by some old man saying "Slow down!". It was put there so that the engine wouldn't rev higher than it was designed to. That extra 3 mph will greatly shorten the engines life.
That's not exactly a true statement. The governor is there as a means of automatic throttle control. It will react to changes in load at a fixed throttle position. Not allowing too high a rev is just a nice side note to their functionality. These engines were not designed for mini bikes and go karts. They are utility engines that are used to power equipment that do not have top speed and high RPM in mind. 3600 RPM has been a standard for decades and the engines are designed around that RPM. With the governor fine tuning screw you can set the governor to react at a multiple range of RPM values at full throttle including RPM higher than 3600. The governor will even react to a change in load at any fixed throttle position. It's not there for full throttle only. With the Honda designed throttle arrangement on these engines the governor is responsible for closing the throttle to idle at the moment of startup after the choke is manually opened. Yes, the governor does function at idle. The governors automatic operation is not very desirable in a variable throttle application like a mini bike or go karts where people want full control over their throttle. This full control allows higher RPM's than a governed engine would allow and is the reason people want to disable or remove them.
the governor Is there to meet epa grandfather standards. other bike like the yamaha tw 200 and the old Honda off road mopeds. they met minimum pollution standards in 1984. and because they've had no changes in motor design the do not have to comply with modern standards. and China does not give any fucks , and has been copying small Honda motors for 50 ÷ years
My brother-in-law got a new little bike for his very young son. With a adult 200# it would do maybe 5mph.First we PULLED the exhaust pipe off.we found a washer that limited air flow we removed it.That got it up to 9 10 mph.THEN we pulled the gas line it also had a brass insert reducing gas flow.We removed that also.JUST removing those to parts and it topped out at 15mph.
Did you buy a new gasket? im guessing there is a 50/50 chance the gasket breaks when you take it apart, even when new. What is the best method you all use for that? gasket sealer?
I wish I could post pics of my upgraded Hawg Ty, which is very similar mini bike. I enjoyed the upgrading process so much I hand build a drag bike mini bike with wheelie bars and Hoosier drag slick....thing will straight up fly down the strip
Ok thats great but that dont tell me what i need to know what bike frame you need for the 212cc and what speeds you can get on a bike frame like a Beach cruiser ans what speeds you can get on one of those bikes thats what i want to know and what i want to see
Torque converter will fix that low speed snail acceleration. Better yet, go to Harbor Freight and put one of those 22 horsepower V-twins on it with a real gas tank. There's another bike similar to that one, I think it's called the monster dog. Same set up but it has rear suspension, luggage rack, single down tube up front. I've always wanted one of these bikes but I would modify it by installing a rear drum brake system on the front. Might as well go all out and install a headlight, tail light, brake light, mirror, and turn signals, stretch out the frame to make a 2 seater with that V twin motor, a little larger diameter tires. Go crazy.
In.The 60s, my brother had a mini bike. 28 miles an hour with governor, 38 miles an hour without! 38 miles an hour on a mini bike is a little scary.they absolutely would Not Stop!
So now I'm confused. I took a stock 212 and put it on my yerfdog 3202 and I can reach 33mph max on flat road. Where's the difference coming from? The yerf dog weighs more, I'm 200 lbs. Could it be the tourqe converter? 12-64
Bruh I know this was 5yrs ago are you still around?I got one these and had the gov out in a couple days I have wheelied over on it and landed on my back 3 times now there's a lot of mid range torque and I would hit a bump on purpose to try a wheelie and it would just keep coming like a tractor learned this is not a wheelie machine the hard way 😂
Toby 43 Yes. It governs how high the engine can rev, kinda like a car rev limiter. If you take the limited out, the engine can rev higher, but also cause damage. If this mod is done, install stiffer valve springs keep
It's designed as a rev limiter to prevent the oil from flying out too far and away from the bearings and oil pickup for top end and also it has all its torque below that anyway 😉 better off just gearing it up for higher top speed.
I don’t know I got a minibike with a Honda G100 K1 engine in it with a 12 tooth clutch and a 60 tooth sprocket. It hits 35 miles an hour already if I took the governor off I’m kind of scared how fast it would go because I don’t have disc brakes it’s a friction brake
Because then the rod would be loose, and free to contact the crankshaft. The arm/linkage assembly holds the rod against the governor gear which in turn holds the gear in place. Those pieces all work together and must be removed together.
What Clutch you Running? If they Don't already have a Torque Converter Belt Drive you need to Go that route it makes a huge difference my baja warrior has a Torque Converter Belt Drive and both mine and my brothers have the governor unhooked my brothers runs 40 45 mine runs 65 70 governor unhooked and belt drive mine wicked fast takes off doing a wheelie walk you'll love the belt drive
You left the governor arm on the motor that's what we hear rattling around. You should have cut it off and bolted up the hole. It's dangling inside the motor and is going to either brake off, or damage the gearing.
Thanks for the video you guys should definitely try to go power sports stage one my Coleman with the torque converter and stage one goes 46 mph all I did was zip tied the governor spring though again thanks guys have fun be careful
Removing the governor system will give more power but you should build the motor to be stronger on the internal parts like crankshaft gears and cams lifters push rods rocker arms connecting rod and piston and piston rings and a lighter flywheel to help prevent engine damage and use 15w-40 engine oil with Lucas oil stabilizer to better lubricant the engine with that much higher RPM’s.
All irrelevant. Its not a GX160/200 or a Briggs Animal. Its a Chinesium clone that cost $100. Valves will float at or around 5500 rpms, sounds like a high speed misfire, meaning its time to get off the gas. Conrods fail from incorrect oil levels. Flywheels......show me where one turned to shrapnel and ill buy ya a beer.

NON hemi head doesn't seem to run into coil bind with the coils being compressed to MAX and breaking valve/retainer and dropping valve into the motor... ruining the motor. 26# springs good for ~.425" lift? 22# springs good for ~.325" lift? depending on casting as all are a lil different. BILLET rod .020" oversize ? to get piston to 0 deck height. .009 Head gasket (stock on NON hemi engine) so have ~.030" piston to head clearance. Billet flywheel if expect over .... 5500 RPMs? $120 for a flywheel for $100 motor???? epoxy magnet and holder to the flywheel so magnet doesn't fly out /off like a bullit... but 5.x # flywheel exploding cant be good to anyone within 100'+++ . 3/16" plate steel tween motor and operator? HEMI engine with HIGH LIFT cams might run into piston because of canted valves on HEMI, less of a problem with NON hemi engine which many believe is a better head than the HEMI head? who wud have thought?

@mike stradling Just stop.
@@doodlebug6833 ...most likely id buy an actual Honda or an Animal.
If im gutting a Predator 212cc engine for the sake of polishing a "turd", well, you get what you pay for.
Rip out the gear, reroute the throttle and let the valves float be your warning system.
Tell me one place to get non anecdotal evidence of grenaging flywheels. Ill wait.
That was a sick ass intro keep up with the good work.
This full control allows higher RPM's than a governed engine would allow and is the reason people want to disable or remove them.
the governor Is there to meet epa grandfather standards. other bike like the yamaha tw 200 and the old Honda off road mopeds. they met minimum pollution standards in 1984. and because they've had no changes in motor design the do not have to comply with modern standards. and China does not give any fucks , and has been copying small Honda motors for 50 ÷ years
Great comparison! Thanks
Hey guys new subscriber glad I found your channel enjoyed it I want to get me another mini bike now that I'm 63 years old LOL
Go go go!!!!!
I'm 67 and I love mine. Hitting 40mph on any minibike feels like 60mph. The most fun you can have with your clothes on ☺️
i haven’t heard andrew apple pie in a video in so long that was unexpected. good music choice lol
Took the governor off my Coleman Ct100u. Keeps up with cars now!! 😁
I have a ct200u that does 60kmph with the governor off so how does a 100 keep up with cars?
@@benderksen9455 must be a slow car
Cardi B he probably isn’t testing his CT100 on the highway
Man, I removed the engine, now my Coleman goes over 100mph, with the brake on !
I took the governor out of my coleman ct200u and now it wants to take off on it own. Does anyone know how to fix it?
man i had this same minibike i threw a gx160 on it and it was the fastest smoothest ride. sadly some scumfuck stole it last summer :(
What type of bike is it
That sucks who ever stole it must have been a real douche 😐
@@fullsendtv101 all theifs are douche.
I ride it everyday🤣
What handle bars did you guy put on these bikes?
Im trying to find out to
Good idea to take the time to compare and post.
Mine has a squealing brake too....is that the brake shoes?
I have a xl175 anyway I could install this and make at least 45 mph with it?
Did you buy a new gasket? im guessing there is a 50/50 chance the gasket breaks when you take it apart, even when new. What is the best method you all use for that? gasket sealer?
Thanks, guys nice comparison video.
I wish I could post pics of my upgraded Hawg Ty, which is very similar mini bike. I enjoyed the upgrading process so much I hand build a drag bike mini bike with wheelie bars and Hoosier drag slick....thing will straight up fly down the strip
I got a doodle bug with a gx390 this has convinced me to do this
Thanks dudes , been debating on removing the Governor on my kids mini , that helped a lot , peace and be safe my bro’s
I hope you have a billet rod and flywheel with heavier valve springs
Does it vibrate bad with the governor removal
taking out governor there's a chance that the cam gear can shatter at high speed because it's plastic
Not all of them are plastic.
Add 18 pound value springs
still dont want to be floating those valve springs, btw its valve not value
you can explain it to them but you can't make them understand it!
Look at the cam gear in this motor was plastic ,,,,,,,,, stock has a plastic ,,,,,, hemi has steel
@2:27= knarly ball smash💥
Ok thats great but that dont tell me what i need to know what bike frame you need for the 212cc and what speeds you can get on a bike frame like a Beach cruiser ans what speeds you can get on one of those bikes thats what i want to know and what i want to see
Where can i get like you got to monitor speed???
What model is the bike I'm looking for a fork and wheel setup to turn a quad into a 3wheeler
So now I'm confused. I took a stock 212 and put it on my yerfdog 3202 and I can reach 33mph max on flat road. Where's the difference coming from? The yerf dog weighs more, I'm 200 lbs. Could it be the tourqe converter? 12-64
Bruh I know this was 5yrs ago are you still around?I got one these and had the gov out in a couple days I have wheelied over on it and landed on my back 3 times now there's a lot of mid range torque and I would hit a bump on purpose to try a wheelie and it would just keep coming like a tractor learned this is not a wheelie machine the hard way 😂
3 yrs late to it but was really hoping for more detail info about removing the governor..
Hey, What make and model are those mini bikes? Ty...
What brand are those mini bikes?
Hey I have the same mini bike that hasn't been used in a while how can I start this thing up
Get starting fluid
I’m a UGA boy but my Texas cuz is an Aggie so y’all good people. Good stuff. Just subbed
Is taking off the governor bad for the engine?
Toby 43 Yes. It governs how high the engine can rev, kinda like a car rev limiter. If you take the limited out, the engine can rev higher, but also cause damage. If this mod is done, install stiffer valve springs keep
It's designed as a rev limiter to prevent the oil from flying out too far and away from the bearings and oil pickup for top end and also it has all its torque below that anyway 😉 better off just gearing it up for higher top speed.
My brakes squeak on my falcon too, how do I fix this ?
what type of bike is this?
I don’t know I got a minibike with a Honda G100 K1 engine in it with a 12 tooth clutch and a 60 tooth sprocket. It hits 35 miles an hour already if I took the governor off I’m kind of scared how fast it would go because I don’t have disc brakes it’s a friction brake
If you carb it do you still have 2 take governor gear out?
how much hp without governor?
That pick up is awesome!!
dude that thing hauls ass. Gotta do this to my Coleman powersport
Why don't you just disconnect the external governor arm and linkage?
Because then the rod would be loose, and free to contact the crankshaft. The arm/linkage assembly holds the rod against the governor gear which in turn holds the gear in place. Those pieces all work together and must be removed together.
How do u get to see how fast u are going on ur phone
Is the one that’s still stock for sale?
What Clutch you Running? If they Don't already have a Torque Converter Belt Drive you need to Go that route it makes a huge difference my baja warrior has a Torque Converter Belt Drive and both mine and my brothers have the governor unhooked my brothers runs 40 45 mine runs 65 70 governor unhooked and belt drive mine wicked fast takes off doing a wheelie walk you'll love the belt drive
what mini bike kit are those
You left the governor arm on the motor that's what we hear rattling around. You should have cut it off and bolted up the hole. It's dangling inside the motor and is going to either brake off, or damage the gearing.
That’s the chain
You're both wrong. It is the chrome cap on the fake gas tank. 11:45. You can see it flopping about and thr noise lines up with its movements.
Thanks for the video you guys should definitely try to go power sports stage one my Coleman with the torque converter and stage one goes 46 mph all I did was zip tied the governor spring though again thanks guys have fun be careful
What minibike is this?
Great video guys! Interesting!
what make/model were those minibikes?
It shoots flames all right!!!
Man after watching that I should start making RUclips videos lol my Baja warrior has a 420cc a Polaris sportsman clutch and a Harley sportster tank.
you caught my attention with the polaris sportsman clutch..
can you tell me more? im assuming these are for 1 inch cranks yes?
a real clutch would make many projects/toys possible..and ty in advance.
Also tech tip for you builders, old >plastic dirt bike gas tanks< fit the baja warrior frames Quite Nicely and look good too.
Did you lose like half of throttle pull to get to WOT after you removed governer
Make a full video how to take the governor out
What mini bikes are these??
Is it safe to remove it?
what app is he using to get the mph on it?
got side cover off might as well put in a CM 265" cam, 1.3 rockers on NON hemi engine, 26# springs, longer BILLET ROD to see 6500RPMs+ header with scooter muffler, bigger jet in (390cc) carb (depending on elevation, check plug... black plug =too much gas/not enough air=wasted gas), light tan plug is what we are looking for. white plug is too lean/runs hot/burns up motor. port head with dremel grinder and 80 grit sanding drums to open up intake/exhaust port and ease valve bowl to intake tract "Step" so air flows free.
My ct100 goes 42 and I haven't touched the governor yet, cost like 50 cents for the spring I used
What kind of handle bars are those?
What song is that in the beginning
Did you have the rpm limiter screw out of the one with the governor
When we remove the rpm limiter screw on our kart engines they turn 5900 rpm with the governor still attached
Good vid. Its the same on any small motor that has it removed or bypassed
You guys geniuses!
Need to run test with torque converter and stagec1 exhaust and intake
What kind of gas tank is on these bikes ?
