I love that he stays objective as much as possible and doesn't buy in to any of the conspiracy theories about anything he looks into. @@PeakedInterest I understand. People certainly have the right to speculate about what they believe may have happened. It's another form of brainstorming, IMO, and may lead to other ideas that law enforcement hadn't thought about. However, people cross the line with their theories when they present them, without evidence, as fact and get angry when others refuse to buy in to their beliefs (like with that Keddie website). Then innocent people undeservedly get blamed and harassed for something they aren't responsible for, which is unacceptable and very tragic!

  • @TheWickedGreedy

Although Sue wasn't sexually assaulted I don't think it's possible to rule out sexual intent -actually, the pose she was left in was clearly a sexually humiliating one that the guys were spared from. So there was at least a misogynistic component to this; plus, the only one who was taken captive was the young girl (we don't know what was done to her before her death...), the three young boys being left unharmed. To me at least, the older guys as brutally as they were killed were probably only eliminated to get to the main target, one or both of the two females in the house, Sue and Tina, otherwise if the intent was to exterminate whoever was in the house, the young boys would've been killed too. I guess there's the possibilty that Tina was the only young child who witnessed the thing, but then why kidnap her instead of killing her on the spot like the rest? Whether this was a personal or random attack it's hard to say. Statistically for a murder this brutal it's more likely that someone close to Sue (or Tina) was responsible but I've also heard of killers taking out their anger on random families. In that case it would be weird for them not to strike again. I'm leaning towards a person close to the family tbh

Marty did it. He confessed to his Therapist. The Therapist was a very credible professional with zero reason to make up that story.he went on to have a 20 year career on the Police department after the fact. Marty told him Sue was a bitch that destroyed his marriage, and that's why he did it. He killed Tina and Sue but not the boys. He killed Tina shortly after with a hammer because she was a witness. He also laughed at the fact that he lied to the polygraph and passed the test. If you read Marty's interview with the Cops shortly after the murders it's very clear he was teasing them. He literally said "oh my hammer is missing. Those killers were crafty they stole my hammer and used it there" he was very talkative and helpful to the Cops giving clues on how the killers probably got in and out the house without doing much noise and whatnot. He also knew every detail of the murders, that their hands were taped and that they were hammered and stabbed... just a couple of days after the fact....it's clear it was him and his friend/s.

I’m from Quincy and grew up there. The lives that were lost has always bothered me. These murders are disturbing. The information available back in the 80’s came from local news media. I would read the Feather River Bulletin hoping to find that the murder had been found. With new technology hoping the crime would be resolved. I agree with you that the sherif department kept the information within their good ole boy club without accepting help from professionals. I have always hoped someone would be held accountable for mishandling evidence.

    • @PeakedInterest
      @PeakedInterest  Год назад +5

It's quite hard coming across research material. What bits there are were held by the sheriff office until the guy who runs that website somehow came into it (some say he stole it but I've seen no evidence of that) so now you can't see the info unless he lets you into their little club.
Dug up what I could find though

By far this is the best video analysis I've seen done for the Keddie Cabin murders. Kudos to both you and Nicole for all your hard work. I'm especially impressed by the fact that you reached out to the sheriff's department for more information.
I'm still not sure what to think of this. I believe the investigation was so thoroughly botched that I can't figure anything about it because there's just too much missing. I am inclined to think though that this was someone they knew given the lack of forced entry. That or the door was left unlocked.

I will never forget seeing Sheila in East Quincy later that Sunday, I knew something was wrong. Clearly before we knew what happened, my mom called our dad and said keep the kids away from Keddie and keep us safe. I have theories, Sheila WAS not involved! I knew the Seabolts well.

This is such a devastatingly sad story. And I think some of the “theories” are UTTERLY RIDICULOUS and the cops screwed this whole thing up. To think that woman (Sue), who had 5KiDs, was a drug dealer. I’m NOT SAYING it’s impossible because clearly that kind of thing DOES happen, sadly. However, this woman was living in almost squaller just trying to escape an abusive husband. Nor the theory that the 12yr old Tina killed her Mama, brother and his friend. GOD will reveal all one day. And the killer will have to pay. Such a sad sad situation. NO ONE deserves that kind of end.
And BTW, I SINCERELY APPRECIATE your “after action theories”. I appreciate your showing and explaining the letters from Marty. This is crazy to think that they would NEVER mention this. Especially the fact that this was 1981, and things like the “multiple letters” would probably hit the news papers before sundown.

This case is just, very weird. I think a big thing that clouds this case is that we don't know who exactly members of the family had meet or been in contact with. Maybe Sue had been seeing a man secretly behind her family's back, maybe the men went there specifically to kidnap Tina and Sheila and the people they killed were the ones unfortunate enough to be seen. A big issue is that the level of violence is considered to be "personal" when in reality it might not be at all, plenty of serial killers have inflicted unspeakable horrors upon people they hardly know so that could be the case here. Hell maybe it was just some guys who wanted to kill people, wanted to inflicted that pain so they just did it to a random family they encountered. People forget that there are cruel monsters out there who hurt to simply hurt

    • @wulfsorenson8859

First of all thank you so much for your analysis of theories. I’ve been obsessed with this case for years. I’ve looked into them all… as you’ve mentioned. I was really hoping that you would’ve come to the same conclusion as I did. There is one very obvious suspect. Joel Lipsey. This is not the groomer theory you talked about. However, I do believe he groomed Tina. I remember hearing, in one of the many shows on this case that there was a court date pending in which joel was being brought in for questioning of having molested Tina. One thing has always been so obvious to me that people don’t seem to think about. Tina was kidnapped. She was murdered. I believe she was the target. The others got in the way of her teacher taking her. The way Sue was gagged, because she was the one taking him to court. I do believe Tina went with him because she knew him and trusted him. She took her tool box , she put on her jacket, she put on her shoes. I believe it was Joel Lipsey and he was obsessed with Tina.
Anyways that’s my theory. Let me know what you think.
You did a great job!! I would love to see an update of theories.

Lancashire is a very strong broad accent and I had aspirations of doing voice work at the time, you need to be able to hold a more neutral accent as it's been shown that general audiences prefer neutral accents to heavily accented ones.
It's actually a benefit for RUclips since a more neutral accent is more easily understood by foreign audiences, which is probably why India, Philippines and Japan are the 2nd 3rd and 4th biggest demographics after the US

Two things that seem to be kind of overlooked in your analysis (opinion), one is the hammer that was used and then probably found and was allegedly reported missing. The second and more important one is the DNA on a tape that matched one of the suspects and why there is no follow up that has been reported on that. Great work on this one. It is sad that this happened to this family but I do believe that even if this murderer gets away in this life, he will not and will be faced with a harsher judgement in the afterlife.
