"I don't feel very lucky, I couldn't tie my shoes for about a month, I think my kids were lucky..." I'll never forget those sinister words.
Right? Absolutely shocking the lack of empathy
That sums it up really, complete narcissist.
And the Duping Delight, ugh. She's diabolical, no other word for her.
one child was already dead and the other 2 were fighting for their lives i don't call that lucky
She thinks her kids were lucky! Are she even a human?
Ew, what a psychopath. That smile she gives after describing how her daughter reached her hand out to her, bloody, while on the way to the hospital. Poor little girl just wanted her mom even after what that monster had done to her. Truly heartbreaking.
Nobody deserves that mother
She escaped from prison in 1987, just three years into her sentence ... but she was quickly recaptured. She was last denied parole in 2020.
Correct.
And what happened to her 2 children that has been shot and the one she is pregnant at the time?
i loved her reason for breaking out of prison: "i wanted revenge" (!!??) what a disgusting waste of space.
@@cerenknk they were adopted by the prosecutor.
Yeah... and guess where she ran? To the husband of her cell mate.
That interview scene where she describes the death of her child (pauses) then smiles; literally sends shivers every single time I see that clip.
Creepy as hell to hear. 🙁
Stuff nightmares are made of
I was just a kid when this happened but I can remember my mom watching it on TV in tears. I remember asking her why she was crying & she said "Some mommy's shldnt be mommy's at all". I remember it like it was yesterday. Little did I realize how I much those words wld haunt me many years later. What feels like yesterday, I lost my only child, my 19 yr old beautiful daughter to anaphylaxis shock in her sleep & the weirdest thing happened after I lost her...THOSE words of my mother are what I thought of, idk why. I remember asking my mom all those years later if she thought I was one of those moms that shldnt have children. She sobbed saying "Noo, of course not". I still think about that all the time 😪
Thank you for the video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and leave a comment.
Jesus Christ, that's extremely heartbreaking - you have my full condolences. I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like, and I can't really say that I understand what'd be like. Nonetheless, I'm sure that your daughter wouldn't want you to blame yourself for that horrible incident and I'm sure she'd want you to move on from that grief and live life to the fullest.
@@whenthingsfly4283 Thanks for your kind words. I really do appreciate them. But, to sum it up in a sentence (if at all possible), it's like someone ripped my soul out of my body & never put it back. It's just going thru the motions but not really living.
You're definitely not one of those moms. From this short comment alone we can already tell you love your kid. RIP
By the sounds of it, you sound like the exact opposite of the type of person your mother was talking about if I’m being honest. My condolences for your loss.
*Diane Downs is the type of person who would wake her whole family up one by one just to inform them that she's going to bed.*
😂😂😂😂😂
what family would she have if she shoots them all
😆😆😆
@Butt-Head. You are so right. Cheers.
😂😂😂😂 so true!
I can't imagine how her lawyer must have felt having to defend her. He probably wanted to see her rot behind bars as much as the rest of us, but he had to defend her well enough that she couldn't claim mistrial due to poor representation.
I am aghast at how terrible this woman is. I can barely wrap my head around her careless disregard for both her children- and to some extent herself. Really? Lip-Sync? Being in the jury and seeing that... wow.
Right? When I read that I was shocked at the level of narcissism, even her own lawyer had to tell her to knock it off
No Diane, what haunts you the most is that 2 of your victims survived and you did not get away with it
Ironically her description of the would be shooter actually looks like her…
Such a tragic story. A parent is meant to love and protect their child. My heart goes out to the children and to the deceased angel.
It's not at all ironic, as unredeemable narcissists are masters of projection and deflection.
I think she did that in purpose. In case any of the children survived and identified her. She can just say that her and the ‘killer’ looked alike. 😅
In adition to those poor children and that family, I cannot imagine the toll that took on the nursing and medical staff that cared for those children and watched thier mother behave like that.
one of the doctors who worked on her kids in the ER went to Diane with an update and her response was "they made a mess of my car"
god.... your editing skills are amazing! this feels so cinematic 🤩
Thanks Sandi, I try my best
I'm familiar with some of the stories you've covered, having watched and listened to content from other sources. The amount of detail along with great storytelling takes your work to a whole other level and I'm seeing more of a complete picture. You are a very good and diligent story teller.
Thanks Deborah, one of my goals with each story is to try and tell it fully and with as much context as possible. Things are never black and white so I try not to represent it that way
@@PeakedInterest you’re doing amazing dude! So glad I found your channel. You have the most perfect voice for narration, you make these cases so much more interesting 😊
This is literally such a level of psychopathy that you can clearly see how she didn't even know what might be a socially unacceptable joke with the death of her offspring.
Also, the fear the two kids old enough to know what was happening? OMG. How could you get over that? This one will keep up up at night.
I can't imagine how Christy got through all this.
Poor Christie was said to become visibly distressed when her mother was in the room that alerted the doctors. I can't fathom the terror that girl went through.
I misunderstood big time and thought this was about lady Diana and only realised it was someone else at the end when you said she went to prison for life, and the whole video I was thinking “HOW HAS NO ONE EVER BROUGHT THIS UP ABOUT HER?”
Her & Susan Smith are beyond despicable. They don't even have the right to call themselves a mother!!! What loving caring mother would ever murder their children to be with a man? Beyond my comprehension 😭😭😭
Fantastic video! I had never heard of this case until now.
Idk if you take any requests, but if you’re interested, I’d love to see you talk about Martin “Marty” Bergen. He was a baseball player, considered one of the greats by some, but he was severely mentally ill. He scared his teammates, believed that assassins were after him, hallucinated out on the field, and eventually ended his family and himself.
No one on RUclips has covered it much and I think you’d do a great job.
*Hearing Running Up That Hill towards the end made this video that much better.*
I was pretty specific about what music I wanted in this video, I felt that worked really well with the last chapter
incredibly well put together. the soundtrack chosen really helped add to things ontop of it.
luckily psychopaths can also be idiots
Actually there idiots but people rather believe evil don't exist. They rather used "mental disorder" lol
hi i’m a new subscriber and currently on a binge of all your vids!! haha i just wanna show my appreciation for these videos research and editing is top of the line!
Thanks Jas (can I call you jas?) I really appreciate that. I hope you'll find the other videos just as interesting.
appreciate the amount of short videos coming out! would love to see some long ones thrown in the mix, too.
The length is usually determined by the complexity of the story and relevant visual materials available.
one of my favourite videos on this case! well done lee!
Thanks Hana, I appreciate that
I found your channel when I was looking for Keddie Cabin videos, and I am glad I did! Looking forward to what you share with your subscribers next!
Awesome video
I remember this news story when I was like 13. It's horrifying. How could any mother do this to her own kids. I don't get it. I would die for my son. I don't get it. I realize she is a very sick person. But, it's so hard to understand.
I'm on a binge of macabre videos. Another stellar video, good sir.
This is one of my fav cases! Hyped to watch
Hope I did a good job
Scary these people walk the streets with us until caught.
Indeed it is, and you don't really know until they decide to start killing
3 videos in 8 days what a legend
It is halloween 😉
I just wanted to compliment you on the production of your videos, it's just a whole other world compared to all the other crime channels.
Great video as always! I can't imagine how much research and work it took to edit all this, your videos are always so well-documented and produced!
Also, I'm so happy Stranger Things brought that music up, it is really absolutely fantastic and I have never heard it before them! Dude, watching your videos is always a treat!
As for Diane Downs, it is amazing how she completely didn't understand human emotions to the point of giving so many blatant signs of what she did, maybe we forget that the ABSURD amount of knowledge we have today literally at our fingertips and on demand wasn't the case back then, so Psychopaths would have had a much harder time trying to study emotions that were so alien to them to try to fake it, if they even bothered themselves obviously. Really amazing.
Thank you for the kind words, I try my best to make each video as completely as possible
*Trigger warning*
Reminds me of the time a bunch of us helped a mate move house. We'd helped the mate move and as a thank you she cooked us food. As a group, we'd basically met because each of our lives had been hit with problems that manifested on us as mental health issues - it was what connected us. Anyway, as we sat around the table chatting, the host asked me what my story was. I explained that mine was just small but the host reminded me that we only knew each other because we had bigger challenges. A man sat beside me saw my struggle and told me it was OK and he'd take the lead. He began telling his story..
The man sat beside me had what was a great life. A lovely wife and they had two young children together - a young boy and a young girl. The man explained that at that time he was working as a security guard and had just finished his shift. He'd gotten home and it was nearing lunch time. His wife greeted him through the door with love and hugs as usual. This time though their children weren't there to greet him and so he asked if they were watching TV. His wife explained that they were sleeping. The man, a little puzzled, accepted that and went upstairs quietly to change out of his work clothes. He made a point of peeking into the childrens bedroom and was met with a picture of horror. The children were lain murdered in their bedroom.
I won't go into the full details of what he witnessed but the man sat next to me chatting over a meal was calm, unfazed and very open to us. I was stunned. Apparently his wife had completely lost the plot and killed their children for no reason. His wife will never be released and is locked away indefinitely.
I was told this story over a meal at a village in County Durham, England UK. I'm not 100% sure of where the murders took place but suspect it was somewhere 'down south' as the man did not have a local accent. I think around the Luton area but could be wrong.
Anyway, interesting channel.
Hey Jack I don't suppose you Have any more details about this story? Names etc. I'd like to put this into research
There is some serious evil in this world.
There is
You put a lot of time and work into your videos and it’s amazing, thanks Lee, for making these interesting videos
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It's appreciated
You're underrated and this was a very good video from you
thank you. that's very generous, maximum effort
If anyone watched the Anthony Todt case; his personality and Diane’s are stunningly similar. The attention seeking and extreme cocky narcissistic behavior. Bizarre stories so over the top unbelievable to all of us; yet the confidence in which they told the stories with hollow emotion they clearly felt were told believably.
Cold evil eyes with no empathy at all.
Completely agree
I think that she also played up her resemblance to Princess Diana at the time.
I think that was on advice of her defence team. She constantly did that whole head down eyes up vulnerability thing which Diana Stewart did
Her eyes say everything
you're spoiling us!
Because you're all so nice
so underrated!
Sometimes pure evil has a face and a name...
Wow different clips, cool
Damn that is such an amazing video
Thank you so much. I take great care and attention with every choice in the videos.
Once again you almost made me cry. I just cannot imagine in our times (where there are a lot of institutions you can get help) such cases still happen. I just do not know what to feel anymore.
How psychopath made three innocent lives and noone noticed who that ... hag was.
I hope these kids got decent lives despite all bad stuff happening to them
If that's your reaction to the video then I feel like I've done my job
I thought the detective in the case adopted one or both of the children. Does anyone else remember that?
@@vsav331 Yes, thankfully!!!!!!! 🙏💓🌹💓🙏
The lead prosecution adopted them.
Holy shit, that woman is absolute evil. The fact that there's a posibility that she could be released on parole in 2025 makes me sick.
u could see on her face she never feel sad...no regret or nothing
her brain function differently
She seemed to enjoy it
Probably the most stereotypical example of a super narcissist and true evil in that era was that woman. Happy Halloween wishes to all💀🎃💀✌️
Nice to see you again Laura 😊
@@PeakedInterest thanks much for the upload. Your work is very much appreciated sir!!🙏
It's always nice to see your name there Laura.
I hate judging people based on how they react to trauma. Everyone reacts differently, not everyone is an emotional wreck. But this is just... come on...
Which trauma reaction? Her in the hospital, or her childhood SA (which almost certainly heavily impacted the ASPD in the first place).
Regardless I hope she burns in hell, and god bless Christie
your channel is fire / style
Delayed watching Most Haunted's live stream for this... I'm glad I did - another excellent review of an awful crime.
Thanks for taking the time out to watch, its appreciated
The drawing looks like Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber.
The drawing looks like a male version of her. In these cases when someone invents a mystery assailant they almost always end up describing themselves, save for one or two things that they think will throw investigators off.
I thought the drawing looked like her as well.
17:48 - 18:12 The way she flicks her hair whilst looking straight into the camera speaks volumes about her character.
God, I've always been fascinated this case. I'm not at all maternal, but her psychopathy is off the scale - and -her unnerving mannerisms are off the scale. ..."All that blood 😏"
She bothers me tenfold more than Wuornos ever did.
Great coverage BTW. classy, and you did the kids justice.
And ladies - _never_ feel unattractive on a night out if this grim monster is what you're up against.
How she was attractive to these men is proof about her manipulative prowess coz god knows the looks weren't there.
There was also a semi-recent interview with a surrogate daughter. She attempted to initiate communication and seek answers, but she very soon realised via letters alone that she was a psychopath- it's all on yt.
Also Diane's parole vids are eerie. She is an old woman, yet the mannerisms, self delusions and attempts to manipulate are the same as the day she was convicted. Nothings changed.
That smirk...I think she's thinking about what a bad girl she's been.
liked the song in the beginning of your video
That was an acoustic cover of one of my favourite Depeche mode songs - it's no good
Great video, it would be good if you could watch it with the near constant adverts every three minutes.
Nice intro!
The prosecutor has the biggest heart to adopt both Christie, and the unborn child. What a great man.
Thos is a good example of how ASPD is hard to treat. How do you convince someone to change when they think they're perfectly fine. Leaving tears in your wake is everyone else's problem for being too sentimental when you don't know the feeling of sentimentality. People who aren't familiar with empathy aren't hopeless though. Diane made a choice knowing what she did could land her in jail. Other people with ASPD may have to learn how to CHOOSE to have a positive impact on their peers, but all with ASPD know the difference between right and wrong. What she did was not only hubris, but also stupid for not knowing how obviously guilty she came across.
In case anyone is curious, the opening track is a Depeche Mode cover. And a pretty good one at that.
This woman terrifies me... it just gives me a weird feeling in my chest...
i thought this was about princess Diane
How is this not getting millions of views, just goes to show the youtube algorithm is quite dumb
Some of it is my fault, click through rate is a key metric and I don't seem to understand what makes a thumbnail clickable so I might experiment and hire someone to do it for me and see how it goes
Binge watching.
Could you cover the Byford dolphin incident next?
I have actually recently read that story. Gruesome
This might be a bizarre note to make, but it’s weird that the title song doesn’t credit the fact that the song is originally by Depeche Mode. Also, it plays over the talking in the intro video.
I love your videos but I really couldn’t concentrate on the last part with running up that hill going on in the back ground and trying to listen to you it was giving me anxiety 😂😂 I had to put the subtitles on and turn my volume down 😅
Oh really, I chose that song very specifically. Sorry to hear that
chilling
Never heard about this story. Wow, just wow. This is some next level psychopathy.
I had a crappy childhood. My father was an abusive drunk who best me on a regular basis. I was also neglected as a child. I have medical issues as a result.
I have given birth to 4 kids, now all in their 40's. I have never hurt them, and I have never even thought about harming them.
Stop making excuses for bad behavior.
I don't make excuses for anybody. I thought I was pretty critical of both her and her legal team
Well people who do abuse there kids never admit to it so really you saying you never abused your kids means nothing, my biological parents and step parents abused me growing up throughout my childhood, and they deny all of it don't admit to anything so don't mean anything people saying they've never abused anyone.
i love your videos man! but i have a technical question. why is the word abortion censored?
Certain words are more likely than others to trigger the RUclips demonetisation censor. These change over time and are sometimes related to certain hot button social issues - abortion is one of those issues because of the roe v wade thing. I also didn't want the video indexed with other videos about abortion since my video isn't about that.
@@PeakedInterest fair enough! :) keep up the good work!
I am absolutely astounded the audience LAUGHED in that Oprah interview! What she said was absolutely horrendous!
I'm sad now
This is so horrifying
poor christie and danny and little cheryl god bless them and have angels surround them
That woman gives me the creap everytime I watch her talking!!😢😢😢👀👀👀
Her kids cant tie their shoes eiither
Jesus. Christ.
Here I was expecting a Princess Diane doc, and get a whole other Diane... 😵💫
The first red flag would be a mother stopping in the middle of the night while she's got three young kids in the car. This whole case is disgusting.
Wait... they let this cold hearted murder on the Oprah show and even laughed? Why would they give her this much attention she obviously craved?
Indeed. More proof of a depraved society
The song that was playing in court is not Duran Duran hungry like a wolf. It's Katy bush (running up that hill.
Her calling her kids lucky makes me wonder what does she know about their home that would make death seem a more merciful fate? Basically it hit me in a way someone describing the mercy killing of a wounded animal does. But then I'm left wondering what the hell did she put them through at home that this would seem any way better??
Soon as we found out she only got shot in the arm, alarm bells rang. And sightseeing in the countryside at night, yeah...sure...
Great vid as always! I mentioned "bad DNA" on central park5...... Did DNA have any role in trial? Hate to bring it up,. No big deal. Still a big fan🤘
No DNA unfortunately, only blood samples were from the kids and since there was no murder weapon no prints could be matched. They used bullet casing matching but it's not as widely respected as DNA matching
@@PeakedInterest Thank you sir! Much appreciated keep up the good work
08:03 Dad knew instantly she did it. He knows his psychopath daughter well who also lied about him abusing her as a little girl.
If you listen to him talk you can see the narcissist tree didn’t fall far from the tree.. her parents actually went to a fair the day after the kids were shot even the police were appalled.. their excuse was that they already signed up to be volunteers, the whole family was weird
Me: I want Princess Diana!
Mom: We have Princess Diana at home.
Princess Diana at home:
...?
It was hard to watch and listen to
Her eyes tell it all.
Diane and Ann Rule did an interview on Oprah a long time ago and it was very entertaining to watch Ann completely obliterate Diane's ridiculousness. Plus the audience laughing at her was a bonus.
Imagine the state you'd really be in if a stranger really did that?
All defendents should be made to wear plain, non-descript clothing to avoid influencing the court. No slick suits or mourning dresses, no excessive hair or makeup styling, etc. And no sleeping either (shock those suckers back to attention).
I would totally agree here. I also think anyone involved in trying the case should be completely unaware of the defendant gender, ethnicity etc. Cases should be tried blind to demographics
4:42 her mugshot looks like Ted Bundys composite drawing from the 80s.Same eyes, nose😮And has the resemblance of the lady that played the mother in Cujos 80s movie.
Damm she down bad
You need to make a video on the shraddha case, that happened in delhi , india. A girl was cut into 32 pieces, by her lover.
Jesus fucking christ this is chilling i feel so sad for the kid she had all that pressure on her shoulders to convict her mum of murder.
Good god
Imagine being such a "pick me girl" that you actually try to kill your children, just so you can "get the man of your dreams".
I'm convinced she's princess Diana's evil twin
