      Ignore the three idiots who just commented, Dragonforce is amazing mostly because the two guitarists who founded the band are just dicking around. That's all this is, this whole band is them showing off, and THIS is what they produced. People without talent mock those that do out of jealousy.

  • @vsGoliath96
    @vsGoliath96 5 лет назад +19

    You know, describing Dragonforce as "a lot of a lot" is actually a great way to put it. Every member of the band is incredibly talented and they push themselves and their instruments to the absolute limit in every single song. It sounds amazing for the first couple times and you feel super pumped, but getting through an entire album is a mind melting experience. Still, they're really popular as far as metal bands go, so they definitely do have their audience and I will never diss on their abilities as musicians.

    Dragonforce is Power Metal, which is metal that's fast, hard, melodic, and generally upbeat. So it's less about anger and rage, and more about overcoming trials and being victorious.
    A suggestion for you, Falconer--Viddernas Man. Matthias Blad is their singer, and isn't a traditional metal singer. It's also hella catchy.
    EDIT:Also, this is the song that got me into Power Metal, but I don't listen to much Dragonforce anymore. I like their melodies, but the drumming, rythm, and guitar always seem like trying to do too much without worrying enough about it all fitting together beautifully. Try instead Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody of Fire, Hammerfall, or Sabaton. For something a little cheesy (in the best way) but unbelievably melodic, try Twilight Force

    Dragonforce is power metal, which is known for being cheesy and over the top, and they're one of the cheesiest and most over the top. It's part of the appeal, because it is silly and fun. There's other bands in power metal that are more serious and focused on good songwriting and such. Great song to tackle. Yes. The Wammy Bar does make that sound. And they use it just like in that video for that song. However, they broke a string doing that once. This is power metal, yes it is cheesy sometimes. Another example is Sabaton. If you want symphonic metal, try Epica. Any chance Mastodon can get a third chance? Maybe something off the new album?

      Dragonforce plays really fast. Their musical theory and use of scales for solos are very basic when slowed down. Dream theater plays with a lot of complex time signatures, musical keys, and understands a lot more about musical theory. Each one of their players are all incredibly talented. Now does that lead to good music? Well that's up for debate.

I'd also suggest checking out a band that was completely new to me and came on just before Dragonforce (there were 4 bands in total); they are called Amaranthe and they rocked the joint. As I said, I had never heard or seen them before Monday night and,at the end, gave them a standing "O". You'll be hearing about them very soon; however, back to Dragonforce who just blew us away with speed combined with extreme skill.

      Dream Theater cover a range of themes and compose songs with a purpose. They do have a couple of songs that are in this crazy "look at me play fast" style. But when you dig deep into DT, you find musical Vibranium. Dragon Force feels like musical costume jewelry.

    • @TheSebu95
      @TheSebu95 6 лет назад +3

      Alain Leon good question. Probably coz Dragonforce has been this mainstream, well known posterboy of powermetal since the guitar hero game. Don't get me wrong, i don't like hate the band. They have some decent songs here and there and Herman Lee is really impressive fast player. But that's the thing. They are fast and loud. That's unfortunetly it.
      Meanwhile bands like Blind Guardian can adapt and evolve. Their music is versatile while having this personal style on it. They can play the most epic and loudest songs ever in history (Battlefield) and also the most silent and soothing pieces (Lord of the Rings).
      Dragonforce might be the posterboy. But Blind Guardian is the old veteran whos fame and glory lies in so much deeper.
      Ps. Im not saying that all other powermetal bands suck. BG is just the biggest for me and actually one of my old personal guides in journey into the vast landscape that is metal.

    I love the lyrics to the song; it's a real fantasy metal song

    Ok so Dream Theater 'vs.' Dragonforce.
    Dream Theater really are on a different level technically and musically. When it comes to pure speed, Dragonforce miiight take the cake. But it's all pretty linear and uniform. The solos actually aren't very complex, just lots of notes in a short amount of time.
    Dream Theater on the other hand (if you check out the depth of their discography) are Master musicians at pretty much any genre. Much more involved with time signature changes, complex chord structures, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with combining genres. Basically if you were to write each artist out on sheet music you might have more notes on fewer lines with Dragonforce. But Dream Theater would be much more intricate, dynamic, full of key and time changes, and more complex melodies. Way harder to pull off.

    I don't know how old this song is, however, it was featured on the PS2 game guitar hero 3 as the end credit song. Also the part where you see the "competition" is nicknamed dueling dragons.

    My dudes, year long fan here and the Ne Obliviscaris Of Plagueflowers and the Kaleidoscope song was my favorite review of yours. This is what introduced me to one of the most masterful pieces of art I've ever heard. Thank you. Ever since that i promised myself that i would never miss this band live if they came near me. I have not only seen them live now but have purchased all 3 albums instantly after the live performance. They were as close to perfection as I'll ever be witness to. I've been thinking of the perfect song for you guys to react to after this one by NeO. I think i have just the one if you were to listen to only one more which i pray you will want to do more upon hearing this. The song is "As Icicles Fall" off the Portal of I album by Ne Obliviscaris. Thank you for introducing many of us to this spectacle of a band. They are ever growing in their presence within the metal community and one day will be revered as one of the best in modern metal for it is an ever evolving genre.

    Btw coming from someone who has been in choir and band they are using 32nd notes which means they're much faster than the actual beat of a song so the lead singer is on beat
