Seriously, no one started following this band because of Nightmare. It was because we were rocking out to Beast and the Harlot or Bat Country on Guitar Hero.
Please do a video for "The Stage." It's a phenomenal song in its own right, and absolutely do it with the video!!! It adds so much to the song. I would say it's mandatory to watch the video at least once to get the most out of the song.
I've been a Sevenfold fan since 05, but The Stage is incredible because it's just damn good music. Top to bottom, they're just playing their asses off and playing a wide variety of styles

You guys should really check put Save Me by Avenged Sevenfold. It's different than what yall have heard from from so far. They really show their musicianship on that one.
I really liked Ryan’s perspective because it felt so relatable, I think the metal community can be a little bit obsessed with speed and technique at times, and the fact is that as humans most of us don’t have the same mood every single day so it’s ok to have some diversity. This comes from a dude that was getting bored with thrash and then upgraded to death metal, it felt good for a few months but I got bored again until I went back to softer genres with a different perspective. You may not appreciate a song’s technique but the production, the lyrics, the story behind it can make your experience with music even more fulfilling.
Avenged Sevenfold has some stuff that's just golllllllllllllld. I'd love to see a reaction to "Chapter Four" someday! The whole album that one came from is my favorite of theirs, but they're a lot less clean vocally in it. Good metal aggression tho

Like many of A7X later songs, you can really hear the growth of the band. From the production they have, to the sound that they have. The star of this song, is Syn. Metal/ rock guitarist have a tendency to just really play fast leads, with quick tricks, to give you that wow factor. Syn, actually puts a voice to his guitar. He really gives you that old school slash, sound in a modern sound. I can’t say that every song with these guys is a great, but wow, their catalog is really really good.
Exist, The Stage, Blinded in Chains, Almost Easy, God Damn, Heretic, Not Ready to Die, Strength Of the World and Higher. All amazing. Buried Alive is their “Stairway to Heaven”. These guys have some straight up Fire tunes.
I think their finally ready for this......dont think they woulda handled that well in the beginning but now that they got some experience under their belt......their ready
I still like the song a lot, but after nearly 15 years the video is kinda cringy. That’s coming from a guy wearing an avenged sevenfold sweatshirt as I type this

Ryan complaining about the production in Freewill gives me an idea. I would love to see a marathon style event where they react to a Rush song from every decade. Rush went out on a high note, their last few albums deserve way more respect. A7X is great, this song is generic as hell but I still love it.
This song is more contagious than Covid-19. It just makes your head nod. Check out "Rivers of Nihil - Where owls know my name" for great modern death metal.
Buried Alive and Acid Rain are probably two of their best composed songs and provide a good snapshot of their range. Would love to see either of those on your channel!!

I am a lifelong a X7 fan, and I always thought Nightmare and Afterlife were two of their best songs. But I find myself constantly coming back to listen to Hail to the King more than the other two. Just something about that simple, driving rhythm that I can’t get enough of.
I’m a huge A7X fan but this song is a definite banger. I know Synyster Gates is awesome on this song but Zacky Vengeance rhythm playing really drives this song a whole other level

Hail To The King would not have been in my top 40 songs recommended for A7X. It is definitely more mainstream and easy listening compared to some other shit.
My music appreciation professor in college said " It used to be, music was recorded to emulate the live experience on stage. Now, we try to emulate the recorded experience on stage." And that's the difference.
I can relate to fantasizing about playing guitar. That is a sign of a true metalhead! Ryan and George, you guys are metalheads for sure! I can tell you love music. It's my favorite part of the channel: The love of music. Keep it up! Calloused Casualty, a sweet name for a metal band! 😂
I bought an electronic drum set with my stimmy during the quarantine. While this isn't the most technical song out there. It's (as you put it) a good song to jam to. And this is the first song I learned to play on drums. It's always going to hold a special place in my heart because of that. Thanks for picking this one from a long time fan.
Fiction is a really good song by them. It was the last song their drummer recorded with them and even sang on the track before he died if I remember correctly. There is something so eerie and beautiful about the song. Also so far away is also about the drummer passing. Rip the rev. And buried alive is just amazing plain and simple.
Ryan talking about how he likes to fantasize about playing the guitar and everything really makes me feel like I'm FINALLY not alone, because ever since I was a child (I'm 36 now), whenever I listen to music I really like by bands I really enjoy, I'll imagine myself playing the guitar and/or singing the songs. When I was in school, it was at school for like a talent show or something, and since I was bullied in real life, in my fantasy during this, I was adored and loved and everyone was in awe by how awesome I was, and then as I got older, and got out of school, the fantasy became playing as a cover band or whatever in front of people at a bar/club. Lol. ♥
If you guys want to really hear Avenged Sevenfold do something older such as “Critical Acclaim” (I guarantee George and Ryan will love this song especially the lyrics) or something from the Waking the Fallen album. You will see a large difference
I agree with everyone recommending Buried Alive, the breakdown on that song is filthy. I'd also highly suggest Welcome to the Family, incredible song!!
The Hail To The King album will give you a feeling of a lot of older bands that came before them because that was the purpose of this album. It's Avenged Sevenfold but them writing and performing songs in similar styles from that era of rock that paved the way for them.
Also if you want true unbridled technicality from A7X, they have a 14 minute song on their newest album called “Exist” featuring a spoken word section by none other than legendary astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson. So yeah, please do more reactions to my favorite band in the world! They won’t disappoint 🔥
Great reaction as always guys ! Hail to the king is one of their most popular songs, and for sure it's a banger! But you definetly have to react to "A little piece of heaven" that is a completly masterpiece! And if we continue talking about great lyricism, you have to react to "The Stage" or my personal favorite song from their last album "Roman sky".
George would like some of their earlier stuff--they really went "arena rock" lately. Bat Country, Beast and the Harlot, Brompton Cocktail, and if you guys are feeling adventurous: Unholy Confessions, I Won't See You Tonight (1 & 2)
I think too many metal elitists get fixated on technical prowess, and demand that every song be a virtuosic performance. And when a guitar solo isn’t the most mind-blowing technical performance they’ve ever heard, they pan it as “pedestrian”. I dislike that mentality. Mainly because speed isn’t the only metric by which you measure a virtuoso. But also because it reduces the music to a single dimension. There’s more to a guitar solo than shredding speed. Sure, you can go out and try to set records for notes per minute on every solo. But when you start out shredding, there’s nowhere to go from there. There’s no story to tell. What I especially like about the guitar solo in this song is that it starts out slow and pretty. He lays out a melody, almost a classical, operatic melody, complete with dramatic glissandos and deep vibrato, even laying back into the tempo for effect. And then he starts sprinkling in the arpeggios, toying with that melodic theme a little faster, and finally builds to shredding scales before hitting the climax of the solo and then resolving with a growling power chord. I love it. It takes you on a little journey. It’s like a little three course meal. A little appetizer, a main course, and topped off with dessert (I don’t usually like a solo that’s just force-feeding you dessert the whole time - it gets old). It’s also a little detour back into classical music that plays off of the driving metal sound and then comes back around. Some of the best guitar solos I’ve ever heard - the ones that really punch you in the gut - aren’t anything close to technical marvels. But they are musical marvels. Shredding speed is only one dimension.
If you want something that strays from “sounding like diet everything else metal” you need to check out their album The Stage. An almost complete departure from everything else they’ve done. The stand outs for me were The Stage, Paradigm, Roman Sky, Angels, and Exist.
You guys need to check them out Live at the LBC which was one of The REVs last shows alive to really appreciate how good this band really is from Shadows vocals to Synaster Gates guitar playing to The Revs drumming, the whole band was on 👌👍🤘🤘
in my opinion, buried alive is the best song they have made. It has it all. i love how avenged sevenfold make songs that strech over 6 minutes. It makes it easier to build up at story in the songs. but i would heavily recommend Buried Alive, The Stage and Acid rain. but to be honest most of their songs are really great.
Only time I have seen them live was in 2010 in Baghdad, Iraq. They were amazing and got to meet them after the show. The base command threatened to shut down the show a few times during it cause it was rowdy. There were uniformed soldiers stage diving and a mosh pit. They asked for requests at one point during the show and a soldier yelled out, Walk , which is by Pantera. Without missing a beat they said we know how to play it, if you get your ass up here and sing it. Soldier got up on stage and had probably one of the best moments of his life.
This song was blared on speakers on our tanks! My Stepfather used to teach Abramas classes back in the day. He would've loved this song! BTW, Buried Alive is amazing!!! It's my favorite A7X song!💕🙏🇺🇸
@@Kanglar that entire album is just a homeage to 80's metal that they grew up listening to. The people that complain about it need to look into it more rather than just getting offended over simular riffs.

Us old timers who grew up in the 80's feel the same way... that decade was the peak and for the most part the stuff since is like the diet version, the simplified version, the dumbed down version. We are sad it went that way but it's very hard for someone to deny that it did.
What makes it cool is the lyrics and the music... If you understand the lyrics, you understand the music and they both make perfect sense....I don't like many of their songs but this one is my favorite.

Damn near every song on waking the fallen you'd both enjoy promise
I agree with everyone recommending Buried Alive, the breakdown on that song is filthy. I'd also highly suggest Welcome to the Family, incredible song!!
The Hail To The King album will give you a feeling of a lot of older bands that came before them because that was the purpose of this album. It's Avenged Sevenfold but them writing and performing songs in similar styles from that era of rock that paved the way for them.
The Stage is such a good song by them that even the metal elitists like it. Def worth a video
Love love live this song !!! So glad you got around to it.
The Stage was definitely not arena rock, but that's definitely the vibe I get from Hail to the King
This gets my upvote
@@reduxpulse8835 I wont see you tonight Part 1. Beast and the Harlot. Or Exist hah
I remember Bat Country being on Madden 06 with McNabb on the cover.
Every time I decide too listen too hail to the king it makes want too loop that epic guitar solo just because of how mind blowing it sounds 🤯🤯🤯
Rush - Headlong Flight - from their most recent album for that more “modern” mixing :)
Great pick. Features their heavier sound which these guys like better than the cheesier "happy" Rush.
100%

I think you guys would like "The Stage" by these guys.
Yeah song is tight. Video is cool too
That have a dozen songs that are better than that one.
Gotta do the music video with that one
Buried Alive
The song sounds like it would fit in on Metallica’s Black album with Sad But True and Enter Sandman. It’s a catchy tune that never disappoints.
Lol listen to This Means War, a straight Sad But True rip off. The get a lot of shit for being radio friendly Metallica rip offs.
@@Kanglar that entire album is just a homeage to 80's metal that they grew up listening to. The people that complain about it need to look into it more rather than just getting offended over simular riffs.
Yea highly influenced 🤷🏻♂️😂
@@Kanglar Metallica gave them permission to release that, it’s supposed to sound like them cause they were a huge inspiration for a7x
Their Metal influences are the bands I grew up on🤘🤘To me, they brought back a nostalgic feeling and they are prenominal musicians and songwriters... They carried the flag that had been forgotten about!
If y'all hit a7x again you should do little piece of heaven!
It's got everything. Murder, necrophilia, a cute little cartoon music video.
today is zacky vengeance's birthday! this is the perfect day to upload this
Radiant City - Deftones!! Pleeease i'll keep asking for it till I get it
A7X as well as FFDP are the best for workout playlist. Workouts seem to be 50% mental or more sometimes.
please do Bat Country or Save Me next!
You blew your load George lol. I've listened to a shit ton of metal and I think like Ryan. Damn this is a good song, that's it. No reason to deconstruct it. If it's good its good. I love you guys
Do "what ever" by God Smack!
That intro though…. My favorite part of that song! That song ROCKS!
Us old timers who grew up in the 80's feel the same way... that decade was the peak and for the most part the stuff since is like the diet version, the simplified version, the dumbed down version. We are sad it went that way but it's very hard for someone to deny that it did.
Listen to Avenged Sevenfold's first two albums, then.
@@lakeshoresubtleties first 5 really
80s metal was why 90s grunge was necessary.. to get rid of glam and hair CHEESE.
What makes it cool is the lyrics and the music... If you understand the lyrics, you understand the music and they both make perfect sense....I don't like many of their songs but this one is my favorite.
