I was a big fan of the fish kiss heel but I came across the shadow wrap heel and while similar, it is slightly easier to work in my opinion - no stitch markers required - you might like to try it. Friendly greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
Another great video !!!! It’s good to see how you plan your projects so I get ideas too ! Love your sweaters …the lilac and cream is beautiful !!! Thank you !
Ohhh you are trying Manchelopis as well! Probably also heard it from Amy Palko 😁 I just knit a sweater with it, and it knit up sooo fast. I knit it up double but also with an additional thin thread in the same colour which helped me not to break the yarn. So fluffy 🤩
Oh no i've not seen her in a while ! Must be popular for a good reason then !! And that's a good idea for a thinner strand, although I am a loose knitter so hopefully will manade without
@@thewoollyworker She mentioned it in the episode with her mum a couple of weeks ago (and her mum is so sweet). Now I'm finishing up a sweater I started ages ago with Plötulopi and it is SOOO scratchy 😆 I hope it will soften with washing but I'll definitely wear something underneath anyway...
Hello from California, USA! I am always eyeing the Combined UK High Street Mystery Box since I haven’t tried any of them before. I am a fan of thinner weight yarns so given the choice I usually go for weight specific mystery bundles. However, the new brands of yarns are intriguing and I would try them even if thicker yarns. I understand the terms and conditions. Thank you for the giveaway. Best wishes for your treatment journey.
I find your detail in projects so helpful Vanissa. I love the style and colour of your wrap cardigan it is certainly one I would like to knit. I bought two skeins of the Meadow yarn a few years ago but have not known what to use it for so I look forward to hearing your views. The colour is gorgeous😍
I LOVE the Levitate Wrap and I have added it to my queue along with the yarn combo as a “next to skin soft” recommendation. Your work always looks so incredibly professional. For your test knit, and speaking from my own experience, your color work is sure to block out beautifully and I hope you will be thrilled with final result once you have slogged through it! You and other podcasters have inspired me to do summer knits, so as I am watching you I am working on the Classic Tee by Darling Jadore, a well written pattern that I am knitting in Berroco Remix Light made of recycled fibers (not sure what I think of the yarn but we’ll see!) Happy Spring!
Thank you so much for the lovely comment ! Hope you're happy with your summer knits, ive also been quite influenced this year to be more into them ! And yes I also keep a list of "next to skin soft" yarns for sure
love love love the levitate wrap, it's stunning and seems so comfy! hopefully your color work fingering sweater turns out great ! love all the yarn you have acquired ! I'm also casting on the Moonset tee, can't wait to see your version!
I'm knitting the Lyon sweater too, using sandnes double sunday for the main color and knitting for olive merino held double for the stripes. There's no difference in the fabric between those two, and to be honest I think the only reason for using two strands of sunday versus single strand double sunday is to sell more yarn - petiteknit has a collaboration with sandnes garn 😉
Thank you so much for the detail about your experience and notes on the levitate wrap! I've been very interested in knitting this pattern for the fall, and finally ordered the yarn in Ecosoft 4S and Isager Trio Ink 😍
Another great episode Vanissia 😊 I love your Lyon sweater, that’s definitely being added to my queue. The colours you’ve chosen look great together and suit you. Your yarn choices are inspiring, what a great find that Manchelopi is and what a gorgeous colour! You will look beautiful in it. Also that Merilin is so lovely, I’m going to have to make something in that now 😂
Thank you so much Sandra, that's so kind ! Merilin has a lot of different lovely colours, it's a nice change from all the pastels we see in summer yarns !
Loooove your levitate wrap!! I finished mine about a week ago and I knit it in Noro Madara held with a silk mohair. I think the silk gives it the structure it needs but it still has such a nice drape. It’s probably more of a winter cardigan than a spring/cool summer day one like the suggested yarn, but i love the combo i used too!
Thank you for the video - very informative, as usual! I admire your work and appreciate all the tips! I have also been looking more into cardigans recently :)
I'm currently knitting on the Color Tip Tee and am so looking forward to trying out this type of sleeve! Emily provides a nice front shaping chart for each size which I have been really appreciating. It's a very lovely formatted pattern. I noticed that color of Manchelopi during my first LYS crawl - it definitely catches the eye! Looking forward to seeing your cardigan someday :)
Oh that's so good to know that the pattern is as nice as it looks ! And yes, I'm happy I went for this choice, and if I like the yarn I can go back and get the grey ones for another cardi !
Your projects are so well thought out and the colors are beautiful. I agree...the fkl heel pattern could have been condensed. I've come across some other patterns like that too.
Thank you very much ! And yes on the one hand I appreciate the work that has gone into it, but it could have been organised better in the final document !
I love your Pictus pullover! The colors are wonderful! I think color work always looks uneven and "not right" until it is given a good soak and blocking, so you'll probably be very surprised by the results. I think fingering weight sweaters are the best, because they make such a wearable fabric, but they are certainly a practice in patience too! : )
Love this video, great and informative as always! I have the Slanted Sleeven cardigan in my list, it’s a cardigan using the contiguous sleeve method as well.
Contiguous sleeves is my favourite construction! Love to knit it, it is so engaging. Looks neat and professional (seamless). And the fit is very good. I am working on a cardigan with this construction as I watch this video: the Carabe cardigan by Justyna Lorkowska (but without the stripe pattern). I also highly recommend Isabell Kraemer's Niamh sweater (I made mine in red Kinross 4ply and it is is one of my absolute favourite sweaters I own).
I love the fish lips kiss heel as far as knitting it, but it doesn’t fit me that well alone. I use the mini gusset technique from Friendship Socks (free) with the FLK heel. I knit socks usually toe up. I love the Turkish cast on for the toe for toe-up much better than Kitchener for cuff-down. Adding the gusset does change the self striping yarn pattern though. Cuts better for non striping yarn
Thanks for the tips ! And yes I made one pair with the turkish cast on and I loved how seamless everything looked ! Still looking for a nice bind off though
@@thewoollyworker btw- I meant to tell you that o love how in depth you go on the projects., it’s very helpful when considering those patterns to knit!
The green yarn you pick for the Monica Geller sweater is a beautiful colour ( Isager yarn) I am convinced it will look so great on you! Not sure where I could buy yarn plate in Canada: will have to check that out! 😊
Yayy I saw your levitate wrap on ravelry and have been excitedly awaiting the podcast episode where you talk more about it haha :) It looks sooo cute and cozy!! I love the way it turned out and it looks amazing on you!! Do you mind if I ask how much positive ease you have on your levitate wrap? I saw that the pattern recommends 30-35 cm of positive ease which is a bit more than I usually go for, so I'm curious about the fit. I got a pink heathered wool yarn (v different than the recommended yarn combo) for it a couple weeks ago, and am just waiting for some needles to free up - super excited to knit it, especially after your glowing review!
I've measured now after block and I am at 22-24cm ease ? I definitely had a tighter gauge on smaller needles, so yeah I recommend sizing down, as it is plenty boxy as it is ! Thanks for the lovely comment, would love to see your version then ♥
@@thewoollyworker Oh thanks so much for taking the time to measure! I really appreciate it! I did size down so I am glad that you'd recommend doing that as well - hoping it turns out ok!!
I may have to watch in 2 parts 😊 but before I shoot off to work, can I ask for a "bonus" episode dedicated to how you work out your project costs? It's something that I think I want to start doing, and I'm thinking of using excel for it. But I'd love to see how you keep track etc
I use the FLK heel for most of my socks and like how they feel. I like the pattern because of the footprint it has you create. I tend to send the footprint pages to non-knitter friends that would like socks, so now I have a small footprint library to help with gifts 😊
I'd LOVE to share how I did this, you asking for it is the only incentive I needed ! It's so good to keep me aware of it and not get too crazy with purchases And I agree with the FLK, I'm going to trace everyone's feet now !
I posted a comment regarding info Isabelle Kramer's design promo on Ravelry but I guess RUclips deleted it 😒 Enjoyed your video today. I love the colors you chose for the Lyon sweater
Perhaps a quick fix to fasten the panel on your wrap would be to knit a small 3-stitch I-Cord length with one strand of the yarn to make a loop long enough to go around a button and sew on to the edge of the opposite panel and sew the button on the escaping panel and secure it that way. I very much enjoyed watching this episode and learned about some new-to-me designers, techniques and patterns I’m definitely interested in trying. Also love the yarn cost inclusion of the project.
I'm gonna be honest... I HATE the FLK heel pattern, hahaha. The heel itself is fine. In my experience, the cardboard cut out is useless even for toe-up socks and often results in a heel that's too far back. (I've seen others say the same.) I've knit dozens of socks over the years and my go-to, other than a gusset or fleegle heel, is a shadow wrap heel which is almost identical to the FLK. (...Though the pattern author may say otherwise.) But seventeen pages?! Of mostly fluff? (I'd use a less charitable term but I like your "fluff" much better lol.) And the fact that it's a paid-for pattern means that finding a RUclips video, etc. on it is impossible. Ugh. Not a fan. Sorry to rant! Your projects this week are gorgeous as usual. I'm really excited for you to finish the Pictus pullover so you can see it blocked in all its beautiful glory.
Thanks for sharing these honest thoughts !! i did feel a little disappointed as I had read so much hype about it, aha, but yeah I get the rant ! I'll definitely try shadow wrap next !
Always enjoy seeing your projects. So inspiring.
Thank you ♥
