Our taste in knitting patterns is so similar! I just started the Siri Cardigan by Lene Holme Sansoe a few days ago. Thanks for keeping me company while I am working on it! I can confirm that it’s a super fun process knit.
Don't shy away from bottom-up, seamed garments. You're a very skilled knitter and those seams are much easier than many of the techniques you've already mastered. You will mostly just use mattress stitch which is fairly easy and you'll be giving your garment a lot more structure. I don't like the way top-down garments hang off of my shoulders due to the lack of a seam. So go for it! You'll also find the project much more portable if you take your knitting on the road. It's much easier to knit a sleeve when there isn't a whole sweater attached. I also think blocking in pieces is much better. Those cables will look spectacular!
I love your choice of patterns! Adding one more pattern to the cabled cardigans category: I’m planning on knitting the Artisane Cardigan by Sandnes this fall/winter - it has this super gorgeous asymmetrical design!
I really recommend trying to knit the bottom up cabled cardigan! You are a skilled knitter, you can definitely slay a seamed bottom-up garment :) the peanut butter cardigan is gorgeous
I love making things bottom up (except for socks) because the bottom edge looks very clean that way, and I do actually prefer doing cables flat vs. in the round because it's WAY easier to keep track of when it's time to use the cable needle since a lot of cable are every 4 rows, so you know that every other front is when you make the cable.
I’m also really feeling knit mini skirts and dresses this season and have a bunch in my plans, including the staple skirt. I think it would work really well as fingering weight and the shaping on it looks so nice. Great pattern choices for the season! Super ambitious cardigans so can’t wait to see what you decide
I have quite the list for my fall knitting… though I’ve made a decent dent already. I made 3 beautician sweaters by petite knit for my girls and my niece, I currently have a Chicane by Brooklyn tweed on my needles for my husband, and I have a pride and pearls cardigan for myself and two lulu slipover juniors for my girls. And then once that’s all done I would love to cast on a book club cardigan before Christmas!
so lovely to see your plans and yarn matching ! I love the skirts you shared, but also Milena Paulina has one (tho is long and ribbed) that I really like the look of. Thanks for another video!
Hi Rebecca, I enjoyed this episode as usually, thank you! Kuutar wrap is also on my list and I still havent got to knit it. Excited to see your progress with the gauge experiment which I had in my mind as well. I also wanted to knit an Esther jacket, bought the yarn and changed my mind right before the cast on. Siri cardigan is slowly growing on my mind, so I guess I might choose it as well! Its beautiful! Regarding bottom up construction, I knit it a few times and for me it looks way more scary than it is. I might knit more bottom ups in the future, just need to beware of the sleeve length
Great video! All your ideas look amazing - love the idea of the skirt (not for me but for someone your age it looks fun). I am also very interested in the sweater that has yet to be released, can't wait to look into knitting that.
thnk you for this podcast, im a designer so i dont knit so much others, but its cool to see what other plans are and so on. I am making one patter now i call "a body hug" ( Zelma) , as i am gonna publish in english, im really excited. im working on a technic video as i link in my patterns. So much lovly plans you have and this aran cable sweater are the normal way to knit this kind of designs. Its my prefer way to knit , if i gonna do traditional colorwork project or cable :D i am excited to follow on how your plans will be.
Love the cables in the Siri Cardigan. The Solene Cardigan in the blue yarn is going to look great! I really like the yoke of Peacock Cardigan. 🧶This fall I plan on knitting lots of cardigans.
The Solene Cardigan is out now (I think it was released yesterday) and I'm also so in love! It is so classic, but with a twist (or a tie😅) Would love to see you knit up a bright blue version!
Currently working on a color work yoke sweater but my fall plans include finishing a sweater for my husband, making myself a Christmas Love Note, some baby gift knits for family and hopefully at least one more sweater or cardigan for myself.
I think the Peanut Butter Cardigan is GORGEOUS so that's my pick for the cabled cardigan. I just started knitting the Amedeo Cardigan which is knit flat and bottom up so I feel your hesitation but I think the outcome should be worth it! Plus it's not a super fitted garment so I don't think you'll need to worry too much about getting to the top and it not fitting. I always seem to fall in love with bottom-up pieces so I think I'm getting used to that construction method.
I think I will go with the peanut butter cardigan!! I wasn’t really thinking about the loose fit but that’s so true and makes me a lot less nervous aha
Terrific plans! I think new to you techniques are always worth a try. I don’t mind bottom up but I really dislike seaming. Despite multiple projects, I cannot master a clean seam…
Awesome video! For the kuutar wrap an idea might be to do snap buttons or actual buttons (one on the inside and one on the outside) instead of the strings for closure... that would eliminate a potentially fiddly adjustment
I also am trying to use stash yarn and have several patterns in mind. Btw, do not be intimidated by bottom up and seaming pieces together. Watch a few videos like Leslie Friend with Pink Knits or Rox Richardson. I learned from the Knit and Purl books btw Sally Melville. I think some of her patterns are still good but mostly her knitting information is priceless to me. I like reading her books. Good luck.
For my fall knitting plans I've got the Amedeo Cardigan in Estelle Yarns EcoCotton which I've cast-on, I'm also making a Tolsta Tee in Walk Collection Linea that'll be colourblocked/striped and the Cozy Autumn Socks that I'm making out Lelo Laines Fingering. In the second half of fall I'm planning on knitting Sari Nordlund's Laila Shawl so I have something to snuggle up with as well as the Field Sweater.
Ooh I have been meaning to start a cable knit cardigan - I am originally from Australia but currently in the States, where it gets a lot colder than back home. I feel like a cardigan will be more versatile for the weather here + when I eventually move back home. The Siri Cardigan by Leknit has been on my list for a while - I love it but the cables also feel slightly basic. Very torn. The other one I was looking at was the Sandnes Garne Artisane Cardigan...but now you have me wondering about the Peanut Butter Cardigan, that's totally gorgeous...omg...so many knits, so little time...
Agreed! That’s why most of my plans this season are cardigans as well ☺️ I guess it’s a balance, it looks easier to knit but the cables stand out less in the FO
Knitting bottom up is my preferred way of knitting, it’s not difficult at all. I have been knitting for close to 60 years, I have never done any top down knitting and the idea of that type of construction is very intimidating to me. But I am sure as with being comfortable with one way of knitting one could also manage to do so it in the opposite way of construction. Just give it a try, if you like it, great, but if you don’t, at least you gave it a try.
I didn’t like the knit and purl texture with the yarn combination! J found that the stitches weren’t really defined and it would only stretch out more after blocking
@@hipknithooray ah thanks for explaining! Yes, I understand if you knit something textured, you want it to show, and you do not want something overly drapey.
Have you ever knit with wool from the Doulton Flock? All their sheep are allowed to live to the end of their natural lives. I’m planning to make a huge purchase because of that and would love to know about the yarn from your perspective.
I haven’t personally heard of or used yarn from Doulton Flock but that’s really interesting to hear! I think it would be great to support them if you are able ☺️
Hi I'm new to knitting and not sure where to find the patterns. Can someone pls tell me where I can buy pattern . And also where I can find the solene pattern!!😅
My fall knitting plans are to make more butterfly shawls. Pattern is by Marin Melchior. You can’t just make one! They are addicting. I highly recommend this pattern!
That’s fair! I’ve been looking for a tie front cardigan with a fitted shoulder for a while so it’s worth it to me! I wanted to get the mohair tie jacket by handmade by florence but it was never released
Knitting skirts and pants is not the best idea unless you don't plan to ever sit down when wearing them. The fabric will thin out on your butt after a couple of wears and you will just throw it away
I always recommend very pink knits, Roxanne Richardson and the chilly dog on RUclips! For a first pattern, I’d start with something small but practical - like a hat or dishcloth 😊
There is something strangely satisfying for me to see people knit from their stashes. Yay for stash knitting🎉
Yess me too! slowly making a dent in the stash haha
I am enjoying this video as a work on a bomber type jacket for my grandson.
Norland, Ontario
Really love the sentiment on that banner, now a new dream knit for me albeit after so many other priorities. Thank you for sharing your plans!

I don't mind seaming at all. Its not so bad.
This is the first video I’ve watched of yours and I have to say, you have great taste. I love all of the patterns in your thumbnails. Subscribed!!
Thank you!! ☺️☺️
Thanks for giving me the inspiration of using scraps on pillow cases!
I love your choice of patterns!

True. I never thought of that.

I want to make a skirt too.
Love your plans! I’m knitting the October sweater and the moby sweater man 🍁🍂 happy knitting
Love my October Sweater! One of my favorite sweaters
So many gorgeous autumn knits 😍 I’m knitting the Holme sweater by Mode at Rowan. It’s a lovely cabled sweater in an olive green yarn 💚
My fall knitting plans are fingerless mitts with 100% Shetland yarn, and a fisherman toque with Peruvian yarn, then a beautiful cozy bolero😁
so lovely to see your plans and yarn matching ! I love the skirts you shared, but also Milena Paulina has one (tho is long and ribbed) that I really like the look of. Thanks for another video!
Oooo I see she has the Venla skirt which is pretty similar to the look I was going for! I also liked that ribbed one too! Thank you Rebeca 💞💞
Ooh that wrap skirt is so cool looking, and the construction sounds really interesting too!

I’m hesitant to knit a skirt because I worry it will be a bit see through but I thought it might be worth trying out for something different!

Reminding me to start thinking of gift knits!! I’m going to try to knit another hat for my boyfriend ☺️

Oooo great idea! I usually have to add snap buttons to a lot of wrap tops and cardigans I buy from the store as well
Love this round up! Thank you!!!

Oooh where in the US are you? A cardigan would not be warm enough at all where I live in the US but I know other places here stay pretty mild
Agreed! That’s why most of my plans this season are cardigans as well ☺️ I guess it’s a balance, it looks easier to knit but the cables stand out less in the FO
@@Katertot8895 Massachusetts! I was planning on layering a "collar" or slipover with a high neck, to achieve full coverage🤣

What colourway of the Drops Kid Silk and Sunday yarn are you using for the Kuutar Wrap Cardigan?
Sorry for the late reply! Im using colour 1045 of Sandnes Garn Sunday and colour 10 of Drops Kid Silk for the cardigan
Canadians get the best knitting climate. We get the best temperatures for year round knits and accessories.
We do!! The sweater weather season in Canada is the best ☺️
May I ask why you frogged your Esther Jacket? I think it looked beautiful.
I didn’t like the knit and purl texture with the yarn combination! J found that the stitches weren’t really defined and it would only stretch out more after blocking

True!! I think I’m going to go with the peanut butter cardigan ☺️
Thanks for the video! What is knitppee’s ins name? Just want to follow for inspiration
Its knittisiri ☺️
Hi I'm new to knitting and not sure where to find the patterns. Can someone pls tell me where I can buy pattern . And also where I can find the solene pattern!!😅
Most people use Ravelry and you can find most patterns on there and a lot of them are sold on Etsy as well. I hope this helps
I've seen that the Solene Cardigan is out now *_*
My fall knitting plans are to make more butterfly shawls. Pattern is by Marin Melchior. You can’t just make one! They are addicting. I highly recommend this pattern!
I’ll have to check out the pattern!!
Hi! What are the names of the blue yarns?
The blue yarn for the Solene Cardigan is cascade 220 superwash (shade 1925) and knit picks aloft (shade celestial)!
I really like that Solene cardigan, but it’s a pretty pricey pattern for a simple cardigan…
That’s fair! I’ve been looking for a tie front cardigan with a fitted shoulder for a while so it’s worth it to me! I wanted to get the mohair tie jacket by handmade by florence but it was never released
❤️🌈
Knitting skirts and pants is not the best idea unless you don't plan to ever sit down when wearing them. The fabric will thin out on your butt after a couple of wears and you will just throw it away
there is a reason why there is a gap in knitted skirt patterns ;)
That’s true!! Maybe fingering weight would also be unwise out I really want to try out knitting it to learn down new techniques 😅
can you please recommend videos for teaching knitting for beginners or you can make an videos of how to knit for beginners🥲
I always recommend very pink knits, Roxanne Richardson and the chilly dog on RUclips! For a first pattern, I’d start with something small but practical - like a hat or dishcloth 😊

So how else do u knit if not from bottom up? Also all your projects seem to be very simple, means sooooo boring
Simple projects are more wearable and versatile.
