I just happened to revisit this pattern today, Moonlight by Megumi Sawada -- it's not striped but it has a shape that reminds me of the Babaa collar. The sleeves may be a little bit more tailored though.

Check out the Ilse sweater by Stickprovet. It could be a close one for the Babaa jumper No 6 if you add stripes.

I found the Ryder Pullover by Amy Christoffers comes also really close to the Babaa sweater. Though it has set in sleeves rather than the dropped shoulder of the original.

I think the bonnets are fun, but I fear that if I wear one, I would look like a wannabe gen z, instead of a 40yo millennial 😅😅 But! The split cape over a coat with a cool belt (leaving the back unbelted) is a look right up my alley 👌🏻

the aptly named BABA sweater by ANKESTRiCK is a near-perfect dupe of the Babaa no.6 (strange neckline and all)!

I'm really digging the balaclava / hood vibes. I just finished Petite Knit Moby Neck, what in ye olden times we called a dickie, it is so nice tucked under a jacket, so cosy. Now I want to make the 'Hood and Shoulders ' by M Berdychevska or the 'Jacques Collar' by Paulastrickt

Very nice. I was knitting a dk weight 2 row 2 color stripe cardigan when this came on. Considering the Faux Chapeaux but dodn't found faux fur yarn hats to be warm enough when I knit one in the 00s. Love the video!

Rebecca, aAlways great content - thank you! I too am feeling like the slim-stripe sweater is having a moment. Stripes everywhere: top to bottom, wrists, neck, waist! Suggestion: It would be so helpful if you would leave the inspo images up as long as you are talking about them, and if it’s not jumping through tech hoops, the names of the patterns/designers too. 😊

Speaking of babaa and superbloomknits, she just posted on instagram a guide to knitting to the style of babaa. Also also! I've been in love with the babaa striped sweater for a while, and another great dupe is the baba sweater by ANKESTRiCK. I like the glitch alot and planned on knitting it as a dupe for the babaa sweater, but ANKESTRiCK's baba matches it perfectly (pretty sure its made to be a direct dupe) and it has the funnel neck aspect which was hard to find elsewhere!

Some people might say relax it’s just knitting but I say pay attention. I don’t necessarily think the hood trend is a nod to the oppression of women depicted in The Handmaid’s Tale but I also never imagined our society would be where it is today decades after I first read the prescient story as a young woman. I foolishly believed we would always be progressing towards a more just society. And yet here we are. Human rights are being stripped away as we view this podcast and we need to speak up wherever and whenever we can. Reproductive rights and LGBTQ rights have already been stripped away in the US and Canada is not immune. Vote mindfully. If they can strip away someone else’s right, they can take away yours too. Also, Rebecca I love watching Hip Knit Hooray! 😊 My comment is in no way a reflection on your lovely channel. 💕✌🏻

As a Canadian, seeing whats happening in the US is concerning, frustrating, disgusting (honestly hard to sum up in a few words). It’s definitely top of mind for me in the next two elections we have coming up this year in Ontario! There is a lot at stake with some candidates… I really didn’t intend for these trends to be a reflection of oppression and I hope that comes across but thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Thanks for an interesting, informative episode. For anyone who has seen the Hulu series "The Handmaid's Tale" based on Margaret Atwood's novel, bonnets, hoods, and capes can have a rather dark connotation. I hope this fashion trend is fleeting.

I'm knitting the Kuutar warp, but not going to make it a wrap. I'm leaving off the ties and did 9 fewer increases than the pattern calls for. I'm using two strands of Knitting for Olive silk on US 9 for gauge and it is a loose knit so will be drapey.

I love the vest your wearing and the colour. The tubular cast on seems too hard to me so I always use ltco for my beanies. I did flip the cast on at first but then I found a tutorial online to do the longtail cast on purlwise so when the brim is folded up you don’t see purl bumps. Eucalan jasmine is my favourite. 🧶

I think I bought the yarn in 2022! It doesn’t look like they have this red colour in their luxe merino line sadly, they have a darker red shade now 😭 but I know there’s a bright red patons wool worsted sold at Michael’s

I did get the red patons…a great red too! The luxe merino is such a nice yarn to work with…too bad they don’t have the good red anymore. I was hoping you had some secret Michael’s source I didn’t know about😂🤪
