Another great episode. Starting a blouse no. 1 soon. Just a question on gauge swatch. Do you swatch in the round or flat. My gauge is way off on 5mm so will try with 4.5mm to try to get closer. The fit on your blouse is lovely, so inspired even more now. Your notes on raverly are so helpful. Thank you.

I love all your projects! Your colorwork is beautiful. If I were you I would use that lovely pale blue and just make the beach day shawl. It looks small and you may have enough yarn held double with itself. I think it will actually be very pretty in that color and you can get it done quickly and easily to earn prizes in the KAL.

Your eyebrows look great, though to be honest I thought they looked great anyway. However, mine are fading as I go grey, so I empathise. I agree with all you say about the Kuutar shawl, not a relaxing knit. I’m knitting the Beach Day now and that is much easier and perhaps more wearable. Thank you for another enjoyable podcast.

My mum always used Opel sock yarn. She loved it. I still have the very first pair of Opal brand socks she made me as an adult. They were gifted to me nearly 25 years ago!!!!! I wear them every winter. They are washed in my washing machine, in a lingerie bag and are hung up to dry. I wish you much joy with your socks.

You probably know thisL several knitters have noticed that AM's yoke pullovers like Illumination and Pink Velvet bulge at the top of the sleeves, so you might try larger needles to pick up the sleeves. I didn't think this would happen to me because my gauge tends to be consistent, but I had to rip back due to the bulge. It's a wonderful design and pattern and is stunning when finished!

Great video, Vanissia! My suggestion of yarn for the Kuutar shawl is the gray yarn. It seems more fitting for a Japanese lace pattern than the tweedy yarn.

  • @EricaGeurts

Love your pressed flowers shawl. Colour choice is fab. I would buy another skein of WYS lace yarn and hold 4 strands together for the Kutaar scarf. No yarn chicken and no stress rejigging pattern. The motivation of the perfect FO will keep you knitting for the 20 days.

Feels like you "know" in some sense that you want to do that beautiful purple-blue-grey Exquisite 4Ply for the scarf, and are maybe hesitating because you're not 100% inspired by the pattern right now. Trust your gut! It will be beautiful, and you can always rip back.

I was unaware of the eyebrow drama, but I had been thinking that your eyebrows looked particularly nice before you said anything about them. I hope you find something that makes you feel confident and beautiful, because that is the most important thing, but as little as it matters, this random internet stranger thinks that they look very nice right now. (I also enjoyed your knitting project updates 😂)

Beautiful podcast, Vanissia! I was in France last week and saw the Exquisite yarn in this exact color, and I really wanted to buy it (in fingering weight), but was very hesitant and could not find the project for it. Its very drapy and soft, and I love it so much, but most people knit scarves with it which I didnt want. This yarn is still in my heart and I am still trying to find a sweater/cardi project, but afraid its too fluid/drapy for big projects

I had the same issue with the Petal Drop Socks. I decided to switch the front and back halves so the bigger motives ended up on the top/front part. It's an easy modification, and as a result the finished socks look more similar to the sample piece on Florence's pictures. The pastel blue colour you choose is lovely!

I smile every time you say 'tada'. I'd go for the exquisite yarn for the Kutaar shawl, I hope the beauty of the yarn will make you enjoy the process a little more especially since you're not pumped about the tedium of knitting the motif again. Your brows look great too.

So many projects, and all pretty! About the Kuutar: I would go for the silvery grey. It harmonizes with the motif and the whole idea of the shawl better. Japanese lace, as you say - Japanese designs usually use thin yarns and are so drapey... The tweedy would be nice for a contrasting effect, I mean, to explore the contrast of the delicate motif and the "hard-wearing" theme inherent to tweed. But in this case I don't think the contrast would work for the best.

Hmm... i think that if it's a complicated patter you shouldn't have to stress yourself with gauge on top of it, so i say go for the tweedy DK! I'm working a sweater nº15 with a really similar yarn to yours and it looks very pretty yet very casual. oooh I wish you had the merino/silk one in at least fingering weight, haha. I love watching your videos because I find a lot of new different patterns. I've spent the last two weeks searching for a good lace camisole to use some silk yarn i bought and i just couldn't find one i liked on ravelry but you mentioned that the lace patter on your socks is also on a cami?? I checked it out and immediately bought the pattern and I'm so excited to get started <3 so thanks for that! (-:

Such a fun video to watch and it was very helpful to hear what you liked or disliked about the patterns/yarns. I'm currently knitting Sweater No. 23 for the second time with a few modifications and love the fit of that pattern. I've had the Daily Pullover on my list for some time and ready to add some fingering weight basics - you've given some good tips and I think I will forego the short rows on the back and maybe add them to the shoulder for a better fit. Looking back at all your patterns, I see that you love the classic pieces which is why I enjoy patterns by Petite Knit and My Favourite Things Knitwear - I'd rather have classic patterns and add variation by way of texture or color than a super intricate garment. Great podcast.

I really enjoy making the Ankers Summer Shirt. I tried the Ankers Tee also and didn’t like the fit of it at all. The neck rides up in the front and the yoke is too deep and unflattering on me. I looked at the pictures on the pattern again in Ravelry and noticed that the designer seemed to have the same issues. I will be sticking to the Ankers Summer Shirt if I make it again in the future. The Ankers Tee was definitely a waste for me ($ of pattern, yarn, and my time).

When I have a pattern that requires an alternating row pattern, I use lightbulb markers and at the BOR I put one marker hanging off the other. So on one row, I will have two markers together, then when I am going to start the other alternate row I will take one marker off and it will hang. So at any point on the row I can look back at my BOR and see if there is one or two markers there..
