    Your Pink Velvet - Andrea Mowry is stunning!
    Thanks for mentioning interchanging German short rows for wrap & turn. I didn't realize that adjustments are supposed to be made--and that maybe that can be ignored.

    Vanissia that Pink Velvet looks SPECTACULAR! what a wonderful knit!! I have been eyeing that pattern for so long as I had a special skein of suri and was unsure, but you just gave it such a modern twist with your colour choice that I feel better about maybe giving it a go! Thanks for another episode!

    I'm loving the Yell updates. I feel like you're knitting it for me since I don't have the time. It's such a beautiful pattern and you're doing a really great job. Loving the perspective and mods.

    I have also used Qing Fibre Yak Single for a sweater (and for a frogged shawl), and I agree that the Yak fibre does get ”released” quite a bit. I was quite worried, but what I have found upon wearing the sweater is that this ”calms down” as the garment gets used. In my experience I absolutely had a lot of fluff to remove the first 2-3 times wearing the sweater - but after that it’s been ok. Not quite sure what the science is at play here, but have read comments that this is very common behaviour for Yak. 😊

    The colours in your Yell cardigan are just beautiful! You are making great progress. I would suggest that it is more important to make the increases you need for a well fitting sleeve than to worry about continuity on the underside of the arm. You have done such a good job with the needle change on the magic loop…I am doing colorwork socks right now with magic loop and mine is much messier…I’m practicing!

  • @corteofs
    @corteofs Месяц назад +2

    To avoid a mark form magic loop you can move the place where you fold the needle cable , it does not have to always be at the same place

    Thanks very much for your comment regarding short rows. I like to always replace wrap & turn with German short rows, but am always bothered with this 1 stitch difference and keep forgetting about it. Good to know you ignored it completely without any issue.
    And thanks for the great video, I always enjoy this moment with you! 😊

    I thought you had made a lot of progress and found all the content quite interesting! Maybe it's because I am a slow knitter, but I never expect so much progress with presenters who do us the favor of podcasting often. I have often thought of making the Anker's sweater and knew if I did, I would use twisted rib because of my sloppy ribbing. Your beautiful sweater has convinced me to try!

      @thewoollyworker  Месяц назад

      thank you and i guess yeah, with a bit of perspective, that is still enough to talk about aha ! i do prefer to podcast every other week, otherwise i get too out of practice/nervous aha !

    When I have a pattern that requires an alternating row pattern, I use lightbulb markers and at the BOR I put one marker hanging off the other. So on one row, I will have two markers together, then when I am going to start the other alternate row I will take one marker off and it will hang. So at any point on the row I can look back at my BOR and see if there is one or two markers there..

    The Zakami yarns are beautiful! I always get sucked into buying hand dyed but then am quite precious about knitting them up, need to resolve to just do it. I think also my style is quite "basic" and minimal, but I am drawn to INSANE hand dyed 🤣 would love to see that super fluffy skein knitted up in a cumulus, I bought the pattern years ago and still haven't done it!

    I had the Melides top half knit, then ripped it out. I've knit so many tanks successfully that it's interesting that the one pattern with exhaustive math to supposedly enable a good fit did not work out AT ALL. I wish I had known before I bought the pattern that there was so much crazy math. I probably will pick a different tank pattern. I hope yours goes well!

      @thewoollyworker  Месяц назад

      oh no ! i see what you mean, sometimes patterns are overly wordy for no reason (looking at you fish-lips-kiss-heel ... ). Next on my list is the mini mock neck !

    I think the pink will look great in the cumulous blouse. I knit the cumulous with one stand of brushed suri alpaca/ merino wool/cotton (the Fibre Co. Cirro). I got gauge and it looks great!

    Yayyyy pink velvet. I knit that last year and it's one of my most worn pieces. The colorwork is so gorgeous. It reminds me of peacock Feathers. I also do the same thing you do with subbing German short rows. Like.... there's no way that 1 stitch is going to make enough difference for me to go through the headache.

    I would recommend blocking that green tank top to see what happens. I knit a bottom up shirt with a folded hem which kept doing exactly this - it kept rolling up. I thought meh, it'll block out... Right? Well, it didn't, it was just as bad and it was driving me crazy and I had to redo it later. 😂I cut off the bottom of the finished shirt months later and redid the folded hem.

    I really enjoy making the Ankers Summer Shirt. I tried the Ankers Tee also and didn’t like the fit of it at all. The neck rides up in the front and the yoke is too deep and unflattering on me. I looked at the pictures on the pattern again in Ravelry and noticed that the designer seemed to have the same issues. I will be sticking to the Ankers Summer Shirt if I make it again in the future. The Ankers Tee was definitely a waste for me ($ of pattern, yarn, and my time).
