Lovely inspiring ideas! I am a 66 year young weaver/spinner/knitter/textiles person. I completed my degree in woven and constructed textiles in 1980 (probably before you appeared on earth!) It’s so good to keep these skills alive! Thanks for a very welcoming video.
omg I love your aesthetic! The background in the beginning of your video is everything. I've knit 2 travelers, and they are yarn eaters; I spun over a pound to make my traveler crewneck and was still playing yarn chicken and I used nearly 700g of commercial yarn for the hoodie. I'm working on the Tessellated vest and the Book Club Cardigan for my fall knits.
Ok this reassures me that I’m not going crazy 🤪 because when I look at the yarn I spun for the traveler it looks like it’s enough and especially for a shawl. But knowing that it eats yarn makes it all make more sense!
It looks like you have some great plans! My plan is mostly to finish my WIPs and make as many baby knits as I can. And I would love to use some of my handspun.
I think we need a little more „why not?“ (making a stair runner) in ours lives. We purchased a 70s house and needed to redo the ceiling but fell in love with the wood panels (impossible to safe them unfortunately). Nowhere to purchase new wooden panels like they had in the 70s so we commissioned a wood supplier to sew down individual ply panels. Then we stained them, sanded them, sealed them, crewed them individually onto the ceiling. Of cause it needed 7 different stains until we found the one, 4 different screws and a selfmade spacer. We even painted the underlayer so the shadow gab would be nice as well. We did ca 55qm. 😅 We agree: It was worth it. So: Why not?
Thank you for the inspiration I needed today. I am planning on setting up my basement as a textile studio for weaving, spinning and quilting. I am trying to finish up languishing projects but I have toddler sweaters for my grandson on the docket and a Book Club cardigan for myself. Lots of other spinning, knitting, weaving and dyeing inspiration are floating around in my brain. I love the projects you have planned for the wool blanket. I just thrifted a cream wool blanket but I wonder if a fall jacket would make more sense than adding another wool blanket to my collection. Never a dull moment in our world.
I am currently working on a Top for the St. Peter Yarn Shop from one of the books I suggested and as why I am not saying which top it's because of a surprise. Shepherd Harvest Festival is in Mn and I was there as well and I got a lot. Minnesota Fiber Festival is on October 19 at Isanti County Fairgrounds Cambridge Mn. Next Month I am doing my First KAL with SisuKnits Berry Sweaters and I am doing the Lingonberry sweater. I have a Hat, Cowl and Mittens that I want to make before Winter which is coming along with a Poncho and 2 more sweaters. My sewing Projects are to finish the dresses that I have started and make the Pumpkin top I showed you Ahna along with some PJs and a coat.
Omg girl you are amazing, knitting with your own handspun and weaving a stair runner…🫢love all your colours. Even though we’re heading into summer here I’m plannning on knitting the Busan sweater by Aegyoknit - been obsessed by a bright green that LBA make called Malachite, just waiting for it to come in. Want to have it done before it gets really hot in January as I’ll hold Suri together with merino. Also knitting some lighter garments in KFO merino cotton and silk that I can wear soon, but really am not so into what is appropriate for the season ie can’t wear that colour in spring, that’s not me. I think that’s more a Northern Hemisphere thing, here in Australia we’re not so locked into wearing colours ‘appropriate’ for a specific season.
The Busan sweater is so good! It’s definitely on my queue to make as well. As far as the colors go it isn’t like a “rule” that I won’t wear certain colors different time of year, just what my mood is. We also have extreme seasonal changes where I live which I think contributes to that. I think it’s fascinating that’s not so much of a thing in Australia 😃
Ahna, I am always in awe of everything you come up with! The pillow case weaving and the stair runner sounds fantastic. My jaw was on the floor when I saw you reupholstered your couch 😅🤣 I definitely relate to the level of crazy 🤣 Thanks so much for sharing all your fall plans and I will surely follow along no matter what you make ❤
Love your idea for the stair runner, and you did such a great job on reupholstering your couch! You always are so fearless when it comes to tackling new & bigger projects.
I love your plans! It's the perfect amount of projects for it to be just in between very ambitious and slightly unrealistic wich is how it should be IMO. And if weaving will steal your heart completly just enjoy the ride.
I'm here for all of this and so much inspiration. How did you start learning to weave? It's on my list someday. Everything is beautiful! All the best, Kimberly
I'm new here and subscribed. Like all that you are doing especially the pillows and the stair runners. I am planning a Glenan vest by Kate Davis for the fall.
Can’t wait for fall so I can bust out the Nutiden for the Eastwind Jacket by Emily Foden! ❤ Fall in North Florida doesn’t start until November so I’ve got plenty of time to finish up my other summer knits in linen (Sarang bag by Aegyo Knit) and silk (Low Tide by Yumiko Alexander) projects. Also, I’m finishing a huge birthday blanket (Da Luxe by Laura Nelkin) for my husband’s October birthday. I’ve been working on it all summer! In addition I am making a new set of lined linen drapes for the living room, weaving for a new pillow cover and spinning some new experiments! Doing some slow stitch projects (patching some ripped jeans that just got a little carried away) So I’m super busy but I would be lost without all my crafty projects.
Oooh another multi craftual person!! You’ve got a lot on your plate and I love it all ☺️ that Eastwind jacket is going to be awesome! I’ve thought about knitting that one too. I totally agree with being lost without the crafts. I think I’m always working on something if I have downtime and wouldn’t want it any other way!

Oh I bet that was so fulfilling getting a degree in textiles! I’m happy you enjoyed the video ☺️ thank you!
I love your podcasts how talented you are lovely to watch thankyou from the uk
your handwoven stair runner sounds incredible! I never thought I would be a weaving girl but your weaving is so inspiring it’s piquing my curiosity 👀👀
Ooooh well I just know you would weave beautiful cloth 😉 ❤️
It's called Shepherd's Harvest. Best weekend of the year! I'm 20 minutes away :)
Thank you so much 😂
I love the diversity you bring! You are a brave crafter and are inspiring me to try too!
That makes me so happy to hear! 😃

There’s nothing quite like knitting with handspun ❤️
Your handspun is beautiful. Great job on the sofa reupholstery.
Thank you so much 😃

Always so inspiring! I agree about summer style dresses in fall colors. I live in NW FL and it rarely gets cool here. 80 is a treat!
I loved hearing from you and you so inspire me to try new expressions of craft!
Aww thanks Lily! I’m excited to watch your new video!

You have such an eye for color! Can’t wait to see how the cardigan turns out with those colors 😍
Thank you!! I’m casting on today 😃
Your creativity is so inspiring!
Thank you! ❤️
Ahna, your weaving is striking! It looks a lot like a replica colonial American coverlet and placemats I have. Your talents continue to amaze me!
Thank you so much Christine! I think weaving really clicked for me recently and opened up a lot of doors for what I can make 😊
Terrific editing and music - well done!!
Thank you for acknowledging that 😃 it means a lot!
I love the pattern of this pillow cover you are weaving. I’m sure it will be gorgeous!
Thank you! I’m pretty excited about how it’s turning out 😊

Exactly 10.000 subscribers, congratulations! Love your Fall colour choices!

Have you seen the Brook Willow china pattern? It might be an inspiration for a project.
I just looked that up and it’s so pretty 😍 I had no idea it existed! It would be super cool to incorporate somehow. Thank you for the inspo ❤️

Can you tell me where to find the pattern for the Matwick Blouse?
Of course! Here is a link to it: madswick.com/products/rosamund-blouse
