Beautiful! Instead of just stitching or airbrush lines, you can straightstitch some (bias) tape or lace on...or zigzag stitch a wool tread on your garment.
This video is a perfection! The vibe, the projects, the cute 🐕 dog... but especially that hairstyle with tight ringlets, adorned with acorns & tiny pinecones!🏵🍁🍂
Your hair is awesome! If you want the lines to stand out more next time; try using a Satin Stitch. I don’t know if your machine has that ability so to cheat it- turn your stitch length down as far as possible, then turn your zigzag up. Then as you go it’ll make a solid line of thread that you see on pillowcases and other decorative pieces. I used it on a costume recently and it worked spectacularly. You have to go slow with the machine but it’s still way faster than embroidery
I loved the Coka-Cola dress and Starbucks gown collaboration between our beloved pumpkin loving floor gremlin and our one and only meme-mom. Edit: I looked said collaboration up and I'm shocked to report it's already been 3 years since said collab.😲👀‼️

Pocket tip for anyone who might not know: if you wanna incorporate a pocket but don't want it to weigh down your skirt or dress or whatever when you put stuff in it, try to incorporate it into the waistband of your skirt. I usually just draft the pocket to include a little bit of a straight top edge that can be sewn into the waistband but I've seen on historical garments where a piece of ribbon or twill tape will be sewn into the seam of the pocket and then to the waistband. Highly reccomend doing this, keeps the skirts flowy and all that jazz! I love it for my insulin pump because it's a sturdy pocket and it doesnt impede the swoosh! 😊 Also if anyone else deals with an insulin pump with tubing highly reccomend seam ripping your pocket seams or adding in pockets with the seam not entirely sewn so you can thread your tubing through and have your pump in your pocket instead of strapped to your stomach or thigh, its so much easier, especially with dresses! I don't make the hole big enough for the actual pump to go through, dont want it sliding out, just the tubing end that attaches to the infusion site (I have a tslim pump) also don't make the hole too far down or you'll lose change lol it also is nice because it can slide out of the pocket to be attached to a belt or something but the tubing is hidden so no snags happen! Idk if this'll help anyone but in just wanted to comment it ❤
So if you want the pockets lower you just add some ribbon going up to the waistband to anchor it? Just asking since I have very long arms & a short high waist so if I put pockets at the waistband my arms would have to do a 90° angle to get my hands in lol. My fave dress brand started adding pockets to the dresses but I kinda hate them as they're a few inches too high for me to use them, the fabric is stretchy (for both dress and pockets) and so they're just these flappy bits annoyingly flapping at my hips. If they were lower they'd be a bit better, but maybe sewing a ribbon would help prevent them being stretchy/flappy?
I was thinking the very same idea! Pumpkin pockets, should be pretty easy compared to what she just made! I’m loving the idea of her air brushing the clothes to give them more character too!

The Switchening had me laughing out loud. That apron is just the sweetest thing. I had Anne of Green Gables vibes as you were walking over that bridge. As she said, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." . They are both fabulous.
It’s got a funny double meaning to me, being French as “une gourde” (other than meaning “flask”) translates to “clumsy clot” in French, and I can totally see Rachel using this idiom with an olde timey voice and a British accent. 😂
Annie was not a thought that even crossed my mind until you mentioned it. When I first saw the video, my immediate thought was, "She looks exactly like Rosie Cotton! How lovely!"
i am still hoping for the glorious day that Rachel and Prickly Alpaca do a whimsy clothes collab. Because CAN YOU IMAGINE THE WHIMSY AWESOMENESS OF THIS!!!
Ok, Rachel, you are one of those people that makes sewing look fun and easy. My mother sewed almost all of my family's clothing as we grew up. I thought that was a trait that just magically passed down from generation to generation. Nope. It's just amazing to watch you and I always think "Ya. I could do that!" But I have yet to even start and finish a blanket. A piece of fabric with a binding around it. Thanks for letting us in on your magic!
They always say to start with something simple, but if its not getting your creative juices flowing, say to hell with it and jump in somewhere deeper with something that interests you. Sewing binding on a rectangle of fabric is... umm.. not the most fun.

We need a whole video of Rachel adding pockets to all the clothing.. bc you need it also ma’am.. and us true watchers(Maksimists? Maksians?) would shamelessly and with full attention watch any amount of minutes of pocket sewing with you 💖💖
Idea for the waist tie: if you didn't have enough of a solid, long piece of fabric, you could also cut the scraps into leaf shapes and sew them together in a line or on top of another color to make a complete tie that still fits the pumpkin theme.
You popped the reading glasses on and my thought was, "Young Mrs. Clause!" Because I have it on the authority of 70s stop motion cartoons that she was, in fact, a redhead.
I loved that character as a kid. Her name was “Miss Jessica”, the new schoolteacher for the depressed town with the oppressive mayor. She was very 1960’s flower child in her expectations of justice and views about how children needed to be able to play with toys, not just do chores. Not realistic for Victorian era Germanic type society, but I liked her as a kid.
Oh, I didn't think Annie, I thought Rosie Cotton. How could I not??? Hobbit core forever! Also both of these are cute as frick (naturally, you design them)
I’m barely a third of the way through this video and already have had my spirits so lifted. You are a person who is so joy-inducing and easy to adore. Thank you for being you.
This is quite possibly my favorite Rachel sewing video EVER! Her humor and expressions are so clever. This video was a joy to watch and I was cracking up so much. I still can’t get over the, “Let’s just dive in like this old man that I saw on a reel the other day.” 😂😂😂
These are both so cute! You're so brave for doing buttons on a long skirt. And I never would've noticed that they weren't perfect if you hadn't pointed it out.
but you literally described how I got interested in sewing in the first place! I wanted clothing items that didn't seem to otherwise exist, and I set out to learn how to make them!

Hey. You are coming so far in your sewing skills. I’ve been sewing for literally 30 years and it is challenging I’m impressed that you try, keep going, and show the process. Also, I felt your pain when you sewed the waistband inside out.
I sent this video to my husband and told him that watching Rachel’s sewing videos is like hearing my own internal monologue when I’m working on a project that doesn’t have a deadline, and I’m sure many of us feel the same way. 😂 Love her. And now I feel the need to begin a flurry of fall sewing.
Your sponsored “commercials “ are so cute that I actually watch them all the way through. You are just adorable! And so is Frodo!!! Okay! I want this outfit!

When you first pinned up the panels (7:20) it was giving so much Langtree energy that I gasped! Pumpkins and over the garden wall, Rachel is feeding us tonight! (It's 10am) "Commence scurrying" - me when we have tasty snacks just after grocery shopping 😂 "Turning myself into a gourd? Sign me up!" - said Coraline's Other Father, never. The garments turned out so precious! The apron is especially delightful 🍁🍂🤎
as someone who lives in the UK where it famously rains 200 days of the year, can i recommend some rainy day autumn activities: 1. Going for a walk in the rain. I know it doesn't sound great, but if you wrap up warm and put on your waterproofs you should be safe from colds. Then you can enjoy the rain pitterpattering through the leaves if you live near a wood, or the clouds of drizzle rolling over open fields. I live near the sea and one of my favourite things to do it go to the beach and watch the crashing of the waves on a rainy day. It's like the world is taking out all its anger right in front of your eyes and you have the privilege to glimpse of its majesty. Also maybe the best part of going on a rainy walk is getting back home and getting in the bath with a lovely warm cup of tea:) 2. Make some kind of flavoured alcohol. I recently made some crab apple gin by adding about 30 halved crab apples and 200g of sugar to a litre of gin. you can also do this with sloes, blackberries and basically any other edible plants you can find. you have to leave it to sit for a couple of months but then you just have to strain it and it's ready to drink! I also just love sitting and watching the rain or doing something that allows me to experience it without being in it, like reading or doing something quiet and peaceful by the window, like reading or maybe embroidery or drawing:)
Hi Rachel! I don't know if you'll see this, but I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your creativity and working as hard as you do, and sharing all the experiments you do with new materials. I'm a costume designer (apprentice), and I kind of fell into my line of work on accident. I started out as just an illustrator for my mentor, and kept taking on new responsibilities. Then this year, his health started to decline, and I've costumed two plays and now my first musical mostly on my own. I didn't even touch a sewing machine until March of this year. I've had to construct a lot for this musical (the Drowsy Chaperone), especially to account for super quick costume changes, and I've been watching your videos almost nightly through this process. Your positive outlook and willingness to try anything has really helped me maintain a level head through this whole process and avoid burnout. We start tech week this Saturday, and I can confidently say I wouldn't have gotten this far without you. So thank you again. You've helped me in some of the first major steps in my career and I'm so grateful. -Tray (they/them)
I just buy the cheap ones but huge numbers of them. Much like razors, don't use them when they're blunt. Invest in good quality and look after them or buy cheap and often.
I am shameless in saying that Rachel trying out different Autumnal baking recipes is a need not a want - I mean she has the perfect outfit….. I love your content Rachel! Hope anyone reading this has a great day/ evening!! x
Rachel, all I have to say is that thanks to you, I've been able to express my whimsical side even more! I now refuse to go anywhere without some form of whimsical item of clothing or jewelry! You are amazing and keep up the amazing work! Much love! 🍄🍂🎃❤️
I love watching her because her sense of humor is so close to mine and I find it cool how she can make clothes out of nothing. However, if every video from now on was only of Frodo, I'd live on her channel 24/7. He's too Flippin Cute!!
I love love love Rachel's videos I want to make the apron and skirt like her's they are so stinking cute love her and everything she does and the fur babies are so adorable and sweet
Hey Rachel, I’m in the hospital waiting to get my gallbladder out tomorrow and I have to say this video came at the right time!! Your projects are always comforting and funny and I really needed that right now ❤
Based on a previous sponsorship of yours, I've been playing June's Journey for about 3 years and I'm at level 985 now, so thank you! It's a good way to keep myself occupied that isn't mindless scrolling.
Ahhhh! The apron! The skirt!! Love it. I broke my arm and I was planning a whole fall dress thing but thank you Rachel for allowing me to live vicariously through you.
I still don’t know how Rachel hasn’t created a clothing brand yet! I would immediately purchase everything she made! 😂 her imagination is out of this world ❤
That is the exact pattern I have my eye on for a project using some cool vintage monster fabric. I’m newer to sewing, and this video was the perfect step by step to inspire me to finally start.
I just found your channel today, and you are already, without a doubt, one of my favorite makers on the site! You are like the living embodiment of my favorite aesthetic, and are an absolute delight to watch and learn from.
That walking skirt is truly stunning and I would not have predicted it when I saw you unrolll that fabric. So cute but still elegant. Makes me start humming "Mashed potatoes and molasses" to myself...
If you haven't already gone down this path and decided it's not for you... I think you would REALLY enjoy piping! It doesn't give the charming dotted-line or antique-y effects of your embroidery and airbrushing, but it adds both a visual line (of Any Colour You Like) and a fantastic boost of sturdy structure (a MUST HAVE in my opinion for cushion type projects, and also great for waist-snatching or any other aspect of a garment where you want some oomph). You can buy it or make it yourself (you have to do it on the bias but YT has plenty of videos on how to do that) and it helps to have a presser foot that allows you to snug your needle right up to it. Great news is you do it all by machine so it's less fiddly and painful than hand embroidery. Thanks for this fun video!
Y'all know what comes after this... Rachel's true form... ✨Maksoween Rachel✨ where we get to see her chaotic process behind her iconic cosplays and costumes 😌😌😌😌
I'm a new subscriber who has been binge watching every video available from start of channel to now and the progress in sewing you've made especially being self taught is really inspiring 👏 🧡

When you first pinned up the panels (7:20) it was giving so much Langtree energy that I gasped! Pumpkins and over the garden wall, Rachel is feeding us tonight! (It's 10am)
"Commence scurrying" - me when we have tasty snacks just after grocery shopping 😂
"Turning myself into a gourd? Sign me up!" - said Coraline's Other Father, never.
The garments turned out so precious! The apron is especially delightful 🍁🍂🤎
That apron just turned out to be the cutest 🎃
as someone who lives in the UK where it famously rains 200 days of the year, can i recommend some rainy day autumn activities:
1. Also maybe the best part of going on a rainy walk is getting back home and getting in the bath with a lovely warm cup of tea:)
I loved the ringlets! So hobbit-y!
I loved how far you've come in your sewing journey!

My first sewing teacher said that we would never have reason to regret investing in a quality seam ripper. :) She was right.
Hope anyone reading this has a great day/ evening!! x
Ahhhh... They turned out gourd-geous! 🎃 I especially love the swish of the heavy wool skirt.
This is fabulous! The apron is SO cute. The skirt is WONDERFUL. One of my all-time favorites of your creations.
I’ve started dabbling in cosplay and it’s partly due to you. Really enjoyed hearing the Dragon-Con stories at the livestream.
I'm going through and rewatching all of your videos; it's too hot, and I need to feel cozy, fall vibes!
OH MY GOURD. Fantastic work!!! 🎃 I am full of joy for my pumpkin queen
Frodo's little smile in that final clip gives me hope. WHAT A GOOD BOY!
When Pumpkin season hits and you know Rachel is going to make something fabulously whimsical.... then it exceeds your own expectations! SCORE!!!!! ❤❤❤

Hey Rachel, I’m in the hospital waiting to get my gallbladder out tomorrow and I have to say this video came at the right time!! Your projects are always comforting and funny and I really needed that right now ❤
Best of luck and may your recovery be speedy! ❤
@@mirjanbouma thank you!!
Based on a previous sponsorship of yours, I've been playing June's Journey for about 3 years and I'm at level 985 now, so thank you! It's a good way to keep myself occupied that isn't mindless scrolling.
Your reading glasses adjustment was giving Pixar old man getting ready to play chess with himself
Ahhhh! The apron! The skirt!!
When i was little i had this long orange medieval style dress that i called my pumpkin dress, i would love to re make it someday
Yeeeezzz! ❤Makesey Halloween !
The short use of the Dueling of the Fates for The Switchening was a lovely surprise as I sipped my coffee while watching this. thank you Rachel :)
Yes. First fall video being pumpkins is iconic
I love Rachel's video editing humor 🤣 the way the package dropped 👍🏻
The reading glasses are giving mrs claus in the best most beautiful way
I'm a new subscriber who has been binge watching every video available from start of channel to now and the progress in sewing you've made especially being self taught is really inspiring 👏 🧡
