I always enjoy your makes and you're lovely to listen to. But today the kitty cameo stole the show even more than those intricate socks! Thank you for sharing all of this with us!
Awwwww beautiful kitty at the end 😍🥰 I have chronic castonitis, also known as ADHD 😅 and I love trying new yarns, I just made most of a sweater in Manchelopis, just missing the sleeves now... so as you can see I'm not a seasonal knitter. In parallel I'm also knitting summer tops in bamboo, cotton etc. but they don't really bring me the woolly goodness and satisfaction of knitting a woollen jumper. So I still continue with those, I've got an all-over cable aran jumper on the needles and figured out after weighing the finished front panel, that the yarn may or may not be enough for the back panel but there will definitely be nothing left for the sleeves, and the yarn is not available anymore. So now I'm trying to find a matching off-white in a similar weight, using this as an excuse to order different yarns to try out 😇 All the while I'm also trying out Holst Supersoft and knitting an all-over colourwork jumper in teal and turquoise (or aquamarine and space, as they call the colours), using 3.5mm needles and the yarn held single, so THAT's gonna take a while. So in the meantime I'm crocheting another Whoopa cardigan in black + rainbow colours for a friend who will move to Ireland soon so obviously she needs a warm cardi, right? RIGHT??? 🤣🤣🤣 For this I'm using Hobbii's "Friends wool" for the first time, and I'm pretty impressed, especially since it's inexpensive if you buy in larger quantities or on sale.
I love casting on new things too ! If I could I would cast on one new project a day lol. And i totally agree, i couldn't give up on wool completely, even in this heat in NEED some good old merino on the needles. I love that Space Supersoft colour !! And yeah colourwork on small needles is a killer but what a gorgeous look in the end. Happy knitting!
J'avais bien reconnu un tout petit accent français dans la toute première vidéo que j'ai regardée 😄 mais après, plus du tout ! Thanks for sharing your knitting adventures with us 🌸
I found you from a recommendation “A lovely Yarn” Love your podcast. I’ve been knitting lots of different sock yarns over the last year. I have to say, my WYS socks are wearing the best after a year, no felting and no thin spots that I know will need darning soon so I may stop using SW merino and other “fancy” sock yarns for socks.
Oh good to know ! It was very nice of her to mention me. I do really like my WYS socks, but they do show some wear on the looser gauge ones so something to keep an eye on too !
I love all the works you have on your needles !!! I'm currently working on the First cardigan. regarding summer yarn, I like Bamboo and silk.happy knitting
Vanissia, you make lovely knitting garments and accessories and you have a very enjoyable podcast. I look forward to your episodes. I started crocheting about 4 years ago and went back to knitting about a year ago after a long absence. I enjoy knitting but still have not ventured too far. I am knitting my first summer tee in one strand of cotton/cashmere with one strand of bamboo. It is very soft. I also find both crochet and knitting wonderful hobbies and am very glad I started them both. Best wishes for your upcoming birthday. 🎂
Thank you so much Sharon! So fun you have made a summer tee ! Hope you get to wear it loads this season and that you make yourself lots of new garments ! Crochet is really fun too but there is just something about knitting sweaters that is extra satisfying !
PS I've used Mondim a ton! I've knit two colourwork sweaters with it and it is 100% my go-to fingering-weight jumper yarn. They're both Orlane Sucche jumpers, ha. The sweatesr are hard wearing but sooooo soft and not itchy at all and AMAZING for colourwork since the yarn is quite bouncy and toothy. (I'll probably be working on one for the Knit Night, ha.) I've knit socks with it, but I used a nylon blend for the toes and heels and, to be honest, I don't wear them a ton since I don't like darning, lol. Knit on US 0 needles and I haven't noticed any holes yet but there's a tiny bit of felting, which is probably good. So excited to see your Mondim socks!
Oh yes, I love her style of patterns ! And the mondim colour palette is stunning so yeah i can see how colourwork could be a choice ! I'll definitely use small needles, but might use a nylon for heels ! thanks !
The pictus pullover is beautiful and the gold green colour stunning and suits you, and your musseburgh hat colour too - so in answer to your question red or green for another lyon sweater I would go with lime green for you.
Hi Vanissia, I am loving the olive tank pattern for summer by Sari Nordlund, and the yarn Katia-concept ; cotton/ merino. 70% cotton, 30% merino. It comes in fine and dk and I am using both and adjusting size wise for gauge/ fit. Ha e fun with the sock knit along, good for you! I am jealous, summer is by super busy time, or I would challenge myself too, and join Sari’s sock along.
Sounds great! Would love to find more DK summer yarns with cotton, so that's good ! I also heard of De Rerum Robinson, I think? And yes, maybe you could try the KAL patterns later in the year once you have more time ! could use all the tips and advice from the ravelry group x
I think this is my first time commenting...I've been watching for several months, but I couldn't not comment when you said you studied psych and are a therapist :). I am a psych professor at a small college in the US and also a therapist on the side (mainly working with families/kids). It was so interesting to me that singing interfered with your knitting!
Aw thanks for sharing !! I'd love to get into teaching/tutoring one day. Probably because I could talk about psychology for hours, just like knitting :p
For your Uni-color Lyon go for ❤! It’s a classy color and while that lime green is awesome really just how often can/will you style it in outfits over the long term? Summer is definitely sock knitting season for me as I just don’t want anything spread out over me. That is a gorgeous sock in the Sari Norland pattern but wow it looks like it takes a great deal of brain space so it’s a maybe for me. I’ve got a lilac color summer sock yarn that would be perfect for it. Maybe that’ll be motivation enough to get started:) I enjoyed all your work and enthusiasm for the love of knitting 🧶
Thank you for the advice ! I do think it'll be harder to style the lime green indeed. Maybe something less commital than a sweater. And maybe grab the pattern while it's on sale but take it at your own pace later down the line, if you've got the perfect yarn for it ! Happy knitting ♥
Im currently working on a Lyon sweater Junior (as well as an adult for a mom and me look!) in those colors! Im so excited to finish it now after seeing yours!
Love your podcast. You are so accomplished! I have used Mondim sock yarn and loved it....its definitely rustic but worked up beautifully! You reminded me about Sari's Sock Mal.....so I had to quick go buy the pattern and stash dive.....problem is this....I already am in Stepen Wests Year of the sock AND his Surprise Sock along, Helen Stewart's summer sock club, and now Sari's MAL....🤪
Wow! you are a fast knitter! so exciting to see you finished a project or more a week..wish I could knit faster so I could use up the yarn in my stash. The Lyon sweater turned out nice! You look great in it! I like the slight loose fit. Love all your projects and color choices 😍
If you wear slippers at home, you can knit your socks with mondim yarn. If not, better choose another sock yarn. 😉 If you want sock yarn without poly, you should try Malabrigo Socks. I am not a big fan of summer knits. I finished the Anker Tee a few weeks ago, so I am done with summer garments for 2023. 😅 But I am still knitting during the summer months, mostly sweaters for autumn and winter. And socks, when it is getting really hot ... or my crochet blanket, made of small single flowers ...
Thanks for the tip! I do have the malabrigo sock for some colourwork, I worry it'll bleed, but we will see. I'll wear the mondim as house socks anyways. Socks are definitely fun to work on no matter the season !
Love your video, thank you! I want to knit the Lyon sweater so much, yours ended up amazing. I am def not a seasonal knitter, now knitting alpaca + double mohair cardigan :) I want to find my perfect supper top and I would knit it in cashmere silk blend or cotton yak blend. Love the classy designs with professional details and fit
Yes your picture did make me think about the neckline stitches again sorry!! ..but actually I think it was a bit worse even on my own sample and on others, I was kind of waiting to see a few more versions before deciding to change it. Mine also blocked out nicely and I haven't gone back to change it either, so don't worry! Also that yarn looks lovely, I haven't tried it before, might have to keep it in mind for my next cable design :)
Your Lyon sweater is soooo pretty and it looks incredible on you! Regarding the lace knitting, I recently learned a great tip from High Fiber Knits (though I have a feeling you might already know this and are maybe even using fixed circulars here, but it's so useful that I'll mention it anyway!) -- swapping out your left needle for a smaller size means it's easier for the right needle to do all those finicky lace stitches without affecting your gauge. :) Thanks for another wonderful podcast, SO excited for the knit night!
I think you should go for the red yarn instead for the lime green. Red seems to suit you! And measuring the straps when stretching them is a great idea! Don´t stretch them to the moon, but quite a bit.👍🧶
@@thewoollyworker I mean when you love lime so much then go for it! Life is too short for not doing the small things that make us happy! I love lime green too!💚

And I just bought the same yarn in a different color for another one😃 Looking forward to seeing progress on your version in your next episode☀️
I love wearing my summer vest ( Peony ) I knit a few years ago in Lithuanian Linen and it really does soften with wear ! Your socks are look amazing! I’m working on an intricate pair I started last year so I spend 30 minutes each day as well as a vanilla pair. I’ve not had good experience with Mondin so maybe start with a plain sock and see how it wears ? Sorry. I’ve used Regia Yak for a sweater which hardly pills and is so soft. No socks as yet !
Thanks for sharing!! I'd love a sweater in that yak, it feels so plush. I do find myself having to do a little bit each day on the complex socks ! Will be really worth it in the end
Love your FOs. I would go for the red, I feel like lime washes out a bit if you're not super tanned. I already wrote you a pm on ravelry for the knit night. :-) looking forward to this. :-)
Red is my vote! I like all the things you make, those socks are definitely a piece of work …I’d love to have a hat made like that. As alway a very enjoyable video. Good job. ( even if that pesky band threw you off) 👏👏👏

I’m pretty paranoid about the ends of my knits so I use a sharp tapestry needle and stab through some of the back stitches while weaving in :0 I’m looking forward to trying some different summery blends soon and casting on a super warm sweater for graduation 🥲 btw the kitty is so gorgeous ❤️❤️
Great tip! I also feel a bit paranoid and would feel devastated if it came undone ! Happy graduation in your (hopefully not too warm) new sweater :D
Since you are magic looping you need to do row at time sock will get you into shape fast and NO second sock anything!!!
You're right, I should !
For the straps on your cami, maybe you could make front straps and back straps and tie them at the shoulders?…
Very good idea !! Will keep in mind for sure
How’s you piece for the royal highland show doing?
