Private Bernard had been running for what seemed like hours. While normally an impossible feat for this man of average stature and build the occasional crack of rifle fire followed by the close whizzing of a bullet did much to motivate him to keep going. Even after the shooting had stopped Bernard kept his pace, determined to make to it the stronghold to inform the rest of the men of his platoon's slaughter. After making his way up a hill Bernard saw a sight for sore eyes, the French tricolor flapping gracefully and proudly in the twilight sky. Before ultimately passing out, Bernard heard the shouts of his countrymen as they came to his aid. Waking up, Bernard saw that he was in bed at the field hospital deep within the stronghold and breathed a sigh of relief. This relief was immediately dispersed when his gaze came upon a captain sitting in a chair with a look of scorn upon his face. "Tell me Private," The captain said with a powerful and commanding voice as he checked the ammunition for his sidearm before loading it and meeting Bernard's gaze. "are you a brave man?" Intimidated by the clearly aggravated captain, Bernard gave an answer to the best of his ability. "I-I-I wouldn't call myself brave Capitaine but I wouldn't call myself a coward either." This appeared to be the wrong answer as the captain's expression became one of anger as he quickly rose from his seat and cocked his weapon before speaking with a voice that sounded like thunder and was twice as loud. “THEN WOULD YOU MIND TELLING ME WHY YOU HAVE ABANDONED YOUR POST!?!” Bernard was taken aback and remained silent as the captain went about his rant. “THE COWBOYS ARE ON THEIR WAY HERE AND YOU WOULD UNDERMINE OUR EFFORTS BY DESERTING!?!” The captain regained his composure yet continued to speak in a tone that underlined all the rage he possessed. “I know well enough what men like you are capable of to the morale of an army and just like a rodent I’ll put you down before more like you spawn.” All the while Bernard was unable to retort as he was caught completely off guard by the captain’s outburst. What was intended as an explanation for what happened on the beach came out as stammers as Bernard was mortified after the captain’s lecture. Unimpressed, the Captain took aim with his sidearm and… “Capitaine!” An infantryman exclaimed as he burst into the field hospital. “The Americans have broken through, they are right at our doorstep!” Seeing the look of confusion and disbelief on the Captain’s face as he heard the news, Bernard saw his chance to explain himself. “It’s true Capitaine! The Americans eradicated the coastal defenses, I was the only one left and wished to inform you of the calamity!” His mind now on something of greater attention the Captain holstered his weapon. “Merde.” He said quietly. Turning to face Bernard once more the Captain spoke in a fairer tone that still contained animosity at a possible coward. “What do you do, Private?” “I was a part of a mortar crew Capitaine.” “Not anymore. I still want to keep an eye on you, so you’ll be manning an artillery piece beside me on the city wall.” The soldier that had awkwardly been standing there questioned. “But sir, should this man not instead get some rest? He must’ve ran a great distance and surely he wouldn’t be in any shape to-“ The Captain silenced the inquisitive infantryman with the flick of a hand. “Bah! He will be fine, just give him some water and he’ll be ready for action. Now allons-y! We have a battle to fight and a war to win!”
@@dragoliched1977 It's good then that he's an artilleryman. From how these battles have been going it would seem that the latest and greatest French rifles can't even compare to an American rifle that entered service a tad bit over thirty years ago.

To complain like always, the marines do a lot of work with little. I would like to hear of The US marine Colonel McMalory and the drunken Irish rant he had at his junior officers. (Your story telling is amazing)
I would love to see you give individual soldiers on the battlefield recognition. For example, if the Captain form the first attack had survived he may have been put in charge of the next assault. Maybe we get to learn his name during the intro and what his superiors did to him (promotion and such). So say if some private cleared out a trench on his own, he would be promoted, and positive featured in some way next video. Or the one French soldier who survived the first attack on the beach would be given similar treatment. I really like the idea of this series, I would really love to see how this conflict would develop French and American doctrine and how this would change the Blitzkrieg in 1940.
But is there even going to be a blitzkrieg? Hmmm maybe fascism doesn't make a reoccurrence and spark again in Europe through Germany, the Japanese see the increased US presence and decide to attack first? Maybe the Germans actually fix their economy because the French are fighting the US and the British navy feels their movement in the waters around the Mediterranean to reach the Suez, maybe the British start to blockade the Suez and the French do not like this, and neither does the Soviet union because they are using that to run trade and commerce with their Mediterranean states they own under the soviet union. Perhaps the Italians see this as a blockade of their expansion into North Africa and the French and Italians being close and bordered with Germany, now having a booming business to fuel a French war machine gives A Franco-Italian pact to run limited Mediterranean island campaigns to secure routes to open the Suez again. German takes a neutral approach cover their north and Italy covering the south makes a fortress Europe where Belgium begins to feel threatened and The UK and it's commonwealth are poised to protect the Mediterranean and help Belgium. Whilst the US is facing French Colonial Forces in the south Pacific only to realize The Japanese are coming to reinforce French positions, attack The Philipines and raid Pearl Harbor, all years before. Then perhaps it forces the Soviets who are also afraid of Japanese expansion and warn The US about more attacks and the UK contacts the US for manufacturing contracts. The battlegrounds would be all over the Islands of the Pacific and the archipelagos of the Mediterranean. Possibly even the Hokaido Island of Japan once again, and even US soil in Alaska and Washingoton state With combined Forced conscripted Chinese anticommunist forces, French Colonial military and Japanese Imperial forces. What a different war it would be.

I'd love to see the British get involved on the side of the French perhaps they dislike the fact that the USA is forcing them to relinquish their colonies It would be awesome to see the royal navy break the blockade and several companies of Royal Marines reinforce the French

Amado JR. Chacon French cannons are generally easy to destroy of render unusable, especially in this era, either by design or, as in most cases, bad design. If the barrel was thin enough (as it was in some lighter mortars and some super light cannons) they could be pierced by just small arms fire, rendering them useless. Other cannons could be jammed with a shell, or pierced with a heavier weapon. Seeing as the Americans have only just arrived, even a serious jam may take more time than the Americans have to set up correctly. Not to mention, the Americans would need to understand how to use French cannons, which they may not, as well as a likely lack of shells, as the French often used strange shells, for example, the Canon de 47mm would use a 47x380 mm shell, something not often available to American soldiers
Kind of nit picky, but I am a former US Marine, so I know. The basic fire and maneuver unit in Marine Infantry is the fire team which has four members (they are trying to reduce it to three). There are three fire teams to the squad. The squad is lead by a sergeant, so there are 13 Marines in a squad. Three squads to a platoon lead by a platoon sergeant (usually a staff sergeant) and a platoon leader (a second or first lieutenant). So that is 41 Marines. A Marine Company is three platoons and a heavy weapons platoon with a headquarters section lead by a gunnery sergeant and a captain. So you are looking at approximately 130 Marines to a company. Also you are using Army alphabet. Marines use Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, and Golf.
Though I'm not defending any Dutch actions in Indonesia during the time of de-colonisation, what you said around 17:55 is not true at all. The Dutch never demolished any religious sites nor installed their own in their colonies. The Dutch have always been known for their tolerancy. The conflict in the Dutch-Indies / Indonesia was purely about independence, not religion.

Battle of devil's ridge aka second battle of natuna , the Americans are attacking natuna mainland but in there tracks there is a french ridge fortification ,.they need to conquer the ridge to get to the citadel , but there is a chance of french couterattack because of possible french resserves

How do u get those soldiers to charge in such a spacious way..... whenever I code mine they all charge in a straight line 1 behind the other and they are grouped so close together....
I think you should make a fictional scenario where you follow one person and see if they survive. If they die, you change perspective to another and so on.
Hope that in the next episode, the French gonna start with a night or dawn counterattack :P cause you know "Don't sleep beyond dawn. Dawn's when the French and Indians attack"
Maybe the French Marines could perform a Diversion by attacking an American Ship Refueling station on one of the nearby Islands. If it is successful, the U.S. Navy will have to divert some of it's vessels that are being used for the blockade to reinforce the nearby Refueling stations. This in turn could cause the French being able to resupply the garrison, and also cause the Morale of the U.S. Marines to worsen, as they thought this was going to be an easy win. If this is going to stay close to our history, then as soon as the attack is halted, everyone is going to feel the dread of World War One again. The French especially, with the garrison possibly retreating from the Island or surrendering due to morale.
Even though this is a fictional scenario, I think the French would not “Risk it” and I think the main Colonial fleet would defend Indochina and they maybe would set a small task force of destroyers and cruisers

All of those tanks would be on the mainland of both countries. The US tabks were heavy so shipping them over would be a lot (just like IRL) and the French have to travel almost across the world but have to risk being sunk by the US Navy which they can't afford
One thing I don't like about "Men of War", or really any video game series using unit tactics, is that they never get all of the details right. On the Americans new right flank there is a shiny French artillery piece just sitting there. Marines would wheel that puppy around and start shelling the Froggies to dust with their own artillery; it's just what they would be trained to do. Also the Marines are renowned for their marksmanship; during the battle of the Ardennes, in WWI, the Germans tried to have the Americans brought up on war crimes for deploying a company of snipers, they were just Marines with 1903s from about 1000m out picking off Hermies along a ridge line, I believe they wiped out (nearly anyways) a full German Brigade.

Maybe the French Marines could perform a Diversion by attacking an American Ship Refueling station on one of the nearby Islands. If it is successful, the U.S. Navy will have to divert some of it's vessels that are being used for the blockade to reinforce the nearby Refueling stations. This in turn could cause the French being able to resupply the garrison, and also cause the Morale of the U.S. Marines to worsen, as they thought this was going to be an easy win. If this is going to stay close to our history, then as soon as the attack is halted, everyone is going to feel the dread of World War One again. The French especially, with the garrison possibly retreating from the Island or surrendering due to morale.
Even though this is a fictional scenario, I think the French would not “Risk it” and I think the main Colonial fleet would defend Indochina and they maybe would set a small task force of destroyers and cruisers

All of those tanks would be on the mainland of both countries. The US tabks were heavy so shipping them over would be a lot (just like IRL) and the French have to travel almost across the world but have to risk being sunk by the US Navy which they can't afford
One thing I don't like about "Men of War", or really any video game series using unit tactics, is that they never get all of the details right. On the Americans new right flank there is a shiny French artillery piece just sitting there. Marines would wheel that puppy around and start shelling the Froggies to dust with their own artillery; it's just what they would be trained to do. Also the Marines are renowned for their marksmanship; during the battle of the Ardennes, in WWI, the Germans tried to have the Americans brought up on war crimes for deploying a company of snipers, they were just Marines with 1903s from about 1000m out picking off Hermies along a ridge line, I believe they wiped out (nearly anyways) a full German Brigade.
