    *Buckingham Palace, March 1st, 1936.*
"What am I to do Winston?" Asked the recently crowned Edward VIII as he sat in a chair, contemplating the rapidly deteriorating French position in Asia.
Near a window stood the former First Lord of the Admiralty, Winston Churchill as he puffed on a cigar. "The solution is an easy one, you Majesty." He spoke again after blowing a cloud of smoke. "The Americans are clearly violating their own Washington Naval Treaty with their occupation of the French Islands and are emboldened with their successes. Who's to say that they won't set their sights on India soon? The only real response we must give to these overambitious Americans is war!"
Edward dismissed the idea. "Come now Winston, I can't even get my own government to allow me to marry the love of my life, let alone start another war with the trauma that the last one inflicted still fresh in their minds."
Winston walked over from the window to sit beside his king in one of the accompanying chairs. Smothering his cigar in an ashtray he continued. "Indeed, it is a precarious situation we find ourselves in, your Majesty. We're more than capable of tackling this threat ourselves yet we're being deliberately held back. On the bright side, there hasn't been a racket in Europe for quite a while. Should that continue we could bolster our fleet quite considerably now that those naval treaties are as good as dead."
Edward chuckled. "That we can my friend, that we can."
Suddenly a knock is heard on the door.
"Your Majesty!" A feminine voice calls out. "A foreign dignitary requests an audience with you!"
At that the two rise from their chairs and make their way to the door. "Most likely a French diplomat I presume." Churchill said. "Without doubt they'll be in need of aid to strengthen their weakening defenses."
However, when the duo open the door they see no French diplomat. Instead there stood a man in a black trench coat with a square like face and thick eyebrows. Any question regarding where the man came from was erased when the two saw the symbol on his coat's left arm.
"Good afternoon your Majesty, Mr. Churchill." The man said in heavily accented German. My name is Rudolf Hess, and I wish to inform you of a proposal sent from the Führer himself."

Hmmm... this is pretty good. I dont think Winston would like any offer the nazis have to make with them, though! That is, from my experiance watching Darkest Hour.

I also think that, instead of India, protecting Malaya would be of greater concern.

It's pretty good ! And I efctively think that the british would side with the frensh in that kind of scenario. But nazi germans... Tell me more, I'm interested ^^.

@@Coolcleverstone I will admit that was kind of an oversight on my part. Also while you are absolutely right about Winston hating the Nazis he's not in much of a position to say no. Whereas Edward VIII is much more willing to cooperate with them.

    • @Coolcleverstone
      @Coolcleverstone 6 лет назад +5

Danny Ziegler it's true Edward would be willing, but I dont think Parliament would be able to go any farther than a non-agression pact with the Nazis. Depending on when the Franco-American war ends, the french could go to war with germany when they remilitarize the rhineland (if they actually won the war before it happens). If the war carries on to after the rhineland, it is likely France will not go to war with Germany and Poland, with the French occupied elsewhere (or not willing to go to war) and British in non-agression, would give up the polish corridor without a fight as long as germany helps Poland annex Lithiania.

The pain was excruciating. Almost immediately after the bullet broke through his flesh, Bernard had passed out. Crumpling like a piece of paper he fell to the ground.
When he came to he heard the muffled voices of the American troops nearby.
".....ey Colonel! We have a frog still kicking over here what do we do with 'em?"
A booming voice with an accent that Bernard identified as Irish responded.
"Bah, put a bullet in his head, Uncle Sam has enough trouble keeping us all in top shape without the need to worry about any prisoners.
    "Yes sir."
Bernard laid paralyzed as he saw the American soldier aim his rifle directly at him, his eyes fixated at the end of the barrel as he waited for the bullet that would end his life.
    *CLICK*
The bullet never came. Instead the American pulled back the bolt to inspect the issue. "Ah crap, I forgot to reload." He said to himself.
The Irish Colonel, hearing this, shouted out: "Jenkins ya freaking idiot! Reload the gun for Christ's sake before I have to have assign someone to ya to help ya take a shit ya braindead moron!"
As the man known as Jenkins pulled out the stripper clip to reload the gun, artillery shells soon exploded throughout the citadel on the unexpecting Americans.
"GOD ALMIGHTY! GET INTO COVER!" The Colonel bellowed.
Jenkins dropped the stripper clip as he made his way to the best piece of available shelter.
Seeing an opportunity to escape, Bernard got to his feet and began running. The adrenaline coursing through his veins made it seem like he was the fastest thing alive. Zig-zagging his way through the citadel to the symphony of raining artillery Bernard hurried his way out of the former French defenses until finally he was outside the citadel's walls. Making a split second decision he ran to the nearest treeline. All the while, the far off French artillery was pounding the Americans within the citadel as they waited for the bombardment to die down.
Somehow, Bernard had managed to cheat death once again.
After he was a good distance away from the artillery strike Bernard's adrenaline had worn off and soon he felt the agonizing pain emanating from his wound. Covering it with both hands he then pulled them off to see that each one was covered in his blood. Laying on the jungle floor he continued to apply pressure to the wound to get it to stop bleeding. Slowly, Bernard's vision began to fade as he heard rustling flora somewhere around him. Without further protest, Bernard closed his eyes.
Bernard once again awoke in a field hospital. The tent walls made it impossible to see what lay just outside but around him, Bernard could see a lantern, a blood bag connected to him and standing off in the corner staring at the wall was none other than the Captain from before. Bernard began to explain but was stopped by the Captain's raised hand.
"There is... no need Private. I observed the battle as it neared it's conclusion. I saw how you attempted to go down in a blaze of glory before being prematurely gunned down." The Captain turned around and made his way toward Bernard. "I thought you dead. Imagine my surprise when I found you clinging on to dear life as I was returning from reconnaissance duties." The Captain then kneeled alongside Bernard's bed. "You are clearly a favored son of France to have survived such an ordeal. And that is in no small part due to your own determination and patriotism. I ask you this Private, we are to strike back against the American invaders so may I count on your undying will, determination and dedication to France to follow us on such a venture?"
Bernard responded with a voice that alluded to the eagerness he had to get back into the battlefield.
    "Yes sir."

At this point, I believe he would be Corporal Bernard at least, if by nothing else, he is now a veteran of three battles and one of the few surviving. A battle hardened veteran means leadership material for the green troops and, I would imagine, quite possibly the Croix de Guirre for bravery in the face of enemy fire.

The French Indochina squadron had begun the war both numerically and quantitively superior to the US Asiatic Fleet stationed in the Philippines never meant to be anything more than a tripwire force in the face of possible Japanese aggression. Yet, the general feeling of passivity in the French Navy and the lack of confidence in the fleet had delayed the French response to the American landing until well after the fall of Natuna.
The Unprovoked act of American aggression in the eyes of the French people had even temporarily united the ever so divisive French political landscape. The replacement of the local French commander and the dispatchment of fresh reinforcements being the first acts in what would later be called the Natuna War.
While the French Navy prepared itself for battle the US Asiatic fleet found itself increasingly overstretched with its responsibilities. Reinforcements from Hawaii and the West Coast would take weeks to arrive and the Natuna campaign had begun on a whim from the new administration. Until then 15 ships would half to cover some 3000km of Ocean as well as support the Marines and Army on the land.
This would come to a head in the battle of New Corsica and its resulting naval engagement.

    “Pwong”
The sound of a bullet penetrating the helmet of the last french soldier defending New Corsica stuck in the mind of Commandant Paul Hendrickson as he fled the island on the last of three boats. The only other sounds were the steady hum of the engine, and the chopping of the waves. Not a man spoke as the sun come over the horizon, bathing them in light and revealing the blood some had stained on their uniforms.
There were only supposed to be two companies, THAT was what the intel said, THAT is what he prepared for. Intel was wrong, and even though he had a plan ready for an attack on each possible landing point the americans would take and a plan for every time of day, it wasn’t enough for the waves of men he had to face. The americans swarmed the island like ants, along with their amphibious tanks, overwhelming the carefully put together defenses. There had even been french tanks, which should have been able to hold back an extra platoon if he used them right, that arrived ahead of schedule… but that should have been his first sign that not everything was accurate.
Paul looked around at his survivors, of which there were only four. Looking to break the silence and statue-like state they had all found themselves in, he reached into his breast pocket for cigarettes but only found one.
“Does anyone have a lighter, or a match?”
    “I have one, Sir.”
“You’re going to have to share this.”
Each soldier took their turn having a puff of the cigarette. When the last soldier took his, he quickly turned around and vomited into the sea. Paul wanted to put his hand on the man’s back, but he felt so heavy that he didn’t want to move either.
“Do you men mind if I have you all form a new fireteam? I’m thinking Tarasque would be a good name for it.”
    “Like the Dragon of Provence?”
“Yea, that’s the one. Figure since we’re going northwest of New Corsica, it’s fitting.”

    "Splash"
Was the only sound Private R. Tucker heard as he tumbled under the water. His gear dragged him down like it was an anchor. He stumbled as he arose from the water, pieces of lead flying by every part of his body in every direction. He could not grasp what was going on, at least, not yet. The excitement that he received once the news came in he would pilot the new, "Water Buffalo" in their maiden voyage to fight the French overtook the fact that he was going off to war.
And so once he arrived, hearing the tales of his victorious men at Natuna he believed he would be in the easiest fight of his life. How could France, a tiny country in Europe, fight such a strong and proud nation? They must be insanely stupid. Yet he would be proven wrong.
He flailed around struggling to find actual cover. Bullets whizzed by and hit almost all of his comrades on sight. This is not how the war was going. This was not how the battle was going to end. The United States was NOT going to die here and right now Tucker told himself, and continued to tell himself.
Only now did he realize his comrades had moved on to the flank, and he was laying still on top of sea-shells. The sand being sucked away and then brought back as the waves rushed across the shore. Carrying him ever so slightly. He didn't even notice until something pulled him underwater. It was heavy and didn't get off of him. Tucker stood up and threw whatever it was off of him like a rag doll.
Then he realized it was a comrade. A Colonial Marine with two holes in his chest. Tucker would stare at him, standing up, ignoring the death and destruction all around him. He was brought to his senses with the loud, "BANG" of a landing craft exploding.
The shock-wave threw him to the ground. He felt a large hand grab his back and pull him up out of the dark red water.
"HEY! C'MON WE'RE ON THE BEACH!!" The man yelled as he essentially dragged Tucker to the shoreline
Artillery and guns still rang out, the screams of his allies sounded softer every second as more and more explosions erupted. The sounds of more landing craft arrived as he turned around.
"It's Able Company!" A young marine yelled, only to be yelled back at, "No! It's Baker and Charlie! It's all of em!"
A rush of joy fell into the pinned down fire team. This would not last long however.
As soon as they had arrived, explosions erupted among them. One of their crafts puffed a large erection of smoke. Bodies flew everywhere and in all directions.
"Lezz go! Move up!" A commander yelled from somewhere. Like a dog, Tucker followed his every order. What Tucker didn't realize is this would cost more than 10 of his comrades their lives.
Tucker's ears rang as it felt like he flew from the ground. His vision blurred, his body numbed and stiffened as he landed in what felt like shallow water.
    *Pop* *Pop* *Pop*
The only thing Tucker remembered was the sounds of distant gunshots. He saw the flashing of lights as he stumbled to his feet. As he looked around, he felt he had been in the horror movies he loved as a child. The dead corpses all around, once living and breathing as he did now. Why did he survive? How did he survive? It was hell on Earth he told himself. For once, he might have been right.
He decided it would be best to march up and aid his friends. He made a cross over his heart as he reached for a ranker's rifle. Pulling it out of his arms he trudged on wards, to victory.
Tucker would never be the same after this.

As they ran up the field going for what remained of the french defenses a howzier hit near joseph and a group of his comrades. This blew joseph back and made him fall on his face koed.
When he came to he saw the marines swarming the center and heard the last bullet go into the last french.
A medic ran up to him and started tending to his wounds saying "i got you just hang on." it was his good freind josh and joseph kinda smiled through winces "i thought i was a goner. Thanks man"

If the British would to join the war, they would need strengthen Malaya and Hong Kong since the Malacca Strait is the closest and quickest road to the Crown Jewel of India. Succesfully holding off the American on Malaya would force them to use either the area around Dutch Indonesia or the Commonwealth Australia. If the Dutch got involved, the American would have to fought their way in and with Australia close it would be hard since the Australian could station their troops and help the Dutch defend Indonesia. With this,Japan saw an oppertunity to forge and alliance with the US to achieve their imperial goal. Canada and other affilited states near the Americas would force the US to focus more to defend its border. The Soviets could play a part as potentional ally of the US to fight against "Imperialist" thus forming the Unholy Alliances. Public wont be happy with the news of US allying themselves with the Soviets and thus there would be protest and rebellion. Likewise for the Soviet, except the events that plagued the US would be suppressed. With that, the European could use this as an advantage and possibly attack the US Mainland but would suffer to the rapidly advancing Soviets. (Without Soviet intervention)The war with Canada and the Europeans would result in the high American casualty rate which would probably result in protest to end the war. With that, the protest would soon grow into a rebellionand thus, the Second American Civil War begun with the Rebels fighting against the Goverment and with that, the US withdrew its troop from the Pacific and Canada, signing a peace treaty with the Europeanand returning the French colonies. With the Americans out, theres one less threat to be taken care of:Japan. Japan helped the US during the invasion of Indonesia and before they could fully take it,the US had to withdraw. Now alone,Japan would have to fight against the European

It's unrealistic, they don't use tactics, they just bunch and die instantly from explosive

6:32 .....how? You have a navy bombarding the island and are in the middle of an amphibious assault. Even on the other side of the island, there is no way the Navy doesn't see and vaporize those LCs...Especially on the way out, one at a time, after the army got on site too. Otherwise, amazing battle. I'd add the 1919 to at least one squad member, not just a BAR, and the marines could definitely use some firepower like mortars. After a slugging match like that, the marines are basically gone, but the army seem relatively unscathed, and the French are shattered. Be interesting to see what comes next.

The same thing actually did happen in the real world "battle" of Kiska: Japan has retreated from this island but left some landmines behind, American landing forces detonated them and their support ships thought it was a real firefight going on - so they fired on where they thought the enemy could hide and killed many friendly troops.

I liked the battle. Although I feel like you should have used the LVT A1 instead. It is an earlier design with a 37mm cannon and more machine guns. If it isn't in the game it's fine.
