Wolff Gunsprings makes a lighter trigger spring. It doesn't do anything for the long travel before the trigger breaks, but at least it puts up less of a fight as you pull it back.
Some more trivia about the H&K VP70: - Unlike most semi-automatic pistols, the VP70's slide does not lock back upon firing the last round. The RE2 Remake gets this quirk correct, while the original erroneously depicts the slide locking back when reloading. - The Matilda in RE2 Remake can equip an extended magazine and compensator. This is contrary to real life: H&K never made extended magazines or compensators for the VP70. - Leon using a VP70 was probably inspired by the movie Aliens, where the Colonial Marines had the VP70 as their sidearm.
One very important factor to note is that the VP70 is notorious for having a very horrible trigger. The pull is way too heavy and inconsistent to be a realistic option for a self defense tool. The gun looks cool but that's all it really had going for it.
@@codybaker9554 Right. The VP70 has an estimated trigger pull of more than 10 pounds. A lot longer than the double action trigger pull of a DA revolver. "Staple gun" is indeed a fitting description for it.

Great video Kendo, I'm surprised you left out a shot of the VP70's most iconic use besides RE2. In 1986's ALIENS Lt. Gorman empties one at point blank into a Xenomorph's head, but to no effect. Gorman and other marines are seen holding this gun throughout the film. One of the many influences that ALIENS had on RE2. Also seen in 1989's Renegades, used by Buster McHenry.
I’m so glad that Capcom has given Leon a gun to start off with as formal police officer back in ‘98. I know very little about the HK VP70 but I do know that HK makes two versions of the VP70. The VP70M is use for the military because of that holster stock making the gun into a 3 round burst. The second version is the VP70Z which makes the gun use for civilians and doesn’t have a holster stock attachment for it.
While I can understand your position between you and me the option of having a 3 round burst with a shoulder stock is very appealing in a situation where you need the extra firepower. The high-power might be more accurate but the Matilda is more powerful. In the sense of more rounds down range.
@@kraigshall in a place where every single round counts, given the choice I would choose the weapon that allows me to be accurate while conserving rounds.
@@flo1fication I fully understand your stance on the situation but when thinking rationally about zombies we're still talking about a 9 by 19 parabellum round and accurate shooting is good but I'll still take the gun that comes with the buttstock.
@@flo1fication In combat shooting against multiple opponents dead eye accuracy is not something a sane individual should be worrying about. 9 mm ammo is damn plentiful you're not going be having trouble resupplying. I love the Matilda and parts for it you find throughout the game!
I like how RE3 now is using the Glock 19 and Glock 18 lol even though the 18 is burst in the game, and full auto in real life! Maybe a few more but I haven’t got that far yet
As a German, hearing you pronounce Volkspistole is so fucking funny
Like not in a bad way, it's a hard language to learn, it's just not at all what that word sounds like and I love it.
On another note, the bit about the stock actually being a holster is super interesting - I was wondering what the little bit there at the end was! Always thought the stocks were fully solid, not empty.
The narrator voice actually sounded like Leon's original voice...
I wanted to say that I really appreciate you using legit knowledge of guns (the VP-70 in particular) with this video. It made it really entertaining to watch and I look forward to watching your other videos.
Another great vídeo, you deserve thousands views and subscribers, keep up and dont worry your time to shine will come
Amazing video! 👏 Leon's & RE4 fans like myself can surely appreciate the in-detailed info and lore!
YES! I’ve been waiting for the next episode!
I actually think that Characters having a unique sidearm is a cool concept. IN EVERY RESIDENT EVIL Your character will always have a pistol at their side. When you run out of AR ammo time to use the Trusty sidearm. That's one thing ill prise RE6 for having each character get a unique weapon.
More of a story would be how each specific upgrade ended up in random places across the precinct
3:16 - "six years have passed" line said by Joseph kendo, peculiarly Matches with Paul Mercier 🤔
Fun fact: one of the problems of the vp70 is that it has a lower muzzle velocity compared to other 9mm pistols of that size. This is because the rifling of the barrel is cut deep enough to let gas escape around the bullet.
My initial thought just from the title of the video also jumped to the movie "The Professional" with Leon and Matilda. Neat!
This very specifically Themed channel is random, wtf? But i LOVE this.
I've seen many RE story videos but this one is very unique. Thanks for all the wonderful details!
Really great gun, I love the Vp70 but I'd like to see Leon uses modern handguns in the future games, like some glocks or sigs.
I think he used a Sig in one of the movies.
@@blacksuite1 Yes, he used a Sig P226 in Resident Evil Vendetta and a Glock 26 in Resident Evil Degeneration, but i meant that I'd like see those guns in a game of the series, like RE7 or RE3 Remake.
Why? You can have any gun you want, why pick something generic and boring
@@Tridd666 agreed, glocks are so normie its almost a waste to have them in video games.
Monster Softair Give Leon a Jericho 941
nice job gotta pay respect to the vp70, it has inspired so many gun designs like the Glock, the hi point and many others, even though the vp70 never sold very well,l it has become a icon in video games and movies alike
Great video as always!
3:40 I knew the gun was similar to Re2 weapon. Never playing Re6, Umbrella core and Re 2 remake. Very cool seeing the lore on a weapon. Thank you for the video.
Kendo Gun Shop,
My dear friends from my Home away from Home, Raccoon City, I just got done watching this simply fantastic new addition to the channel’s growing library of excellent “Resident Evil” weapon videos. These videos are nothing short of amazing, from beginning to end, as I am once again thoroughly impressed by the sheer amount of dedication and detail found in this newest video. The same can certainly be said of the others on this channel as well. Every time I watch them, which is something I find watching multiple times during my stay on your channel by the way, I leave learning so much about not only my favorite series but the iconic weapons from it &/or inspired from it too. The amount of knowledge contained within them is like a small history lesson for both the series and gun history, making me drawn even closer to its dark atmospheric world, I have come to love since way back in 1996. I’m beyond PROUD of the owners of this channel, always an elegantly written and recorded voice, along with more than enough footage to go with what is being conveyed to any Survivor who comes across this channel. Please do keep up the awesome work, I leave you with many blessings, for the channel and the future videos down the road. Can’t wait until the next one my friends. Take care of yourselves out there. Until next time....😏😉😌🕯

This is why I love the resident evil franchise. Awesome video
Gotta love Forgotten weapons with the gun reviews as well
Do one on the Lightning Hawk/Desert Eagle
Great idea! I always loved that gun.
And who can not mention the Lightning Hawk?
Your name reminded me of a scene in DIRTY HAIRY. You know the one.
Smith Wesson No.
@@nookiebizkit486 why not asshole?
I love how I have Forgotten Weapons video on the HK VP-70M in my recommendeds.
Yes awesome job guys!!!! Totally worth the wait!
Bro ur Leon Voice is on point, great vid
Great videos bro, I love lore channels like this. Well-edited and written, hope you can keep releasing content
Dude I thought you were Leon’s voice actor before you mentioned your name. Like holy shit you sound like RE4 Leon
I love that corrupted VP-70 and Leon goes mad meme.
Nice video, i've Been waiting for it.
as a gun guy I've always wanted videos like this for guns in games. Thanks a bunch for this, good research and presentation.
2:30 at first i thought he was just shooting single shots xD
I’m so glad that Capcom has given Leon a gun to start off with as formal police officer back in ‘98. I know very little about the HK VP70 but I do know that HK makes two versions of the VP70. The VP70M is use for the military because of that holster stock making the gun into a 3 round burst. The second version is the VP70Z which makes the gun use for civilians and doesn’t have a holster stock attachment for it.
"High capacity 9mil for the time"
Over here in CA like 😭
Baltimore no more than 10 rounds 😭
Got a 18 round vp70
🤣🤣🤣
As a fellow gun enthusiast and Resident Evil fan. Seriously keep up the good work my dude.
Wonder what the gun name was for the one he was waiting for in RE6
Wing Breaker.
It's a custom piece P226 E2 called Sentinel Nine
The gun he used after resident evil 6 and in resident evil: vendetta.
@@unofficial_gamer6813 I thought it was Wingshooter
@@unofficial_gamer6813 it’s called Wing Shooter
I feel baited with how good your content is, and you only have 5 videos, I- I need more
I'd take the hi-power over the vp70 personally.
While I can understand your position between you and me the option of having a 3 round burst with a shoulder stock is very appealing in a situation where you need the extra firepower. The high-power might be more accurate but the Matilda is more powerful. In the sense of more rounds down range.
@@kraigshall having seen the VP70 in use with its burst mode I'd still take the Hi-point.
However losing limbs or life because you insist on accuracy over body count is a much hard problem to fix.
in the RE2 book from back in the day the author just does with VP-70 and just gave leon the Desert Eagle right off the bat as a gift from his dad and uncle as a present for graduating the police academy.
Claire gets it instead, after Irons’ transformation.
It’s like the Walther ppk he’s the James Bond of zombies
Love watching these videos while cleaning my guns keep em coming
Samurai edge, all versions from re1 to present.
Went to look up your channel to see how many millions of subs you had considering the quality of the video. I'm sad and impressed that you have 24k still. Keep putting up this high quality content man, it looks, it sounds and it is amazing, thank you. If you do more RE4 guns that be awesome. Thank you for the content.
I never noticed the Leon that professional connection. God I love Japanese devs. By far my favorite movie mixed with my favorite game. Too bad the director was a creep. Still love the movie.
Your voice is soothing. It's like Leon describing his VP70 just like how Big Boss described his M1911.
Please talk about the Beretta M93R, Claire's gun in Resident Evil Code: Veronica !!
Robocop?
@@arcum2013 Well, yes (Robocop has a modded one).
But also in Nikita, Broken Arrow, Natural Born Killers...
