  • Hello Skaters! Welcome back, I am so glad you have found my channel. Today we are going to go over the Loop Jump. This jump was invented by Werner Rittberger and is an edge jump, as it takes off of the back outside edge and does not use a tapped toe. I usually teach this to my students after they have already learned their Waltz Jump, Salchow Jump and Toe Loop Jump. You will want a strong back spin before you attempt this, I have posted that tutorial below...

    I just wanted to say how much your videos help me. I'm 18 and started skating last year only using RUclips to teach me. I now have my waltz, Salchow, toe loop, loop, flip, and I'm working on my Axel. While my spins are harder to learn I have a scratch spin and I'm working on my sit spin and haircutter.
    Thank you so much for your help 💕

    I said this on one of your other videos, but I'm absolutely amazed at the similarities between skating technique and Argentine tango. I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to start skating where I live, but the similar mechanics will give me more nerve to try if they open a rink here. Meanwhile these videos enrich my technical appreciation for skating so much, because it translates to something I'm familiar with.
    P.S. Also, from one teacher to another, you're great at this!

    I gave up years ago on ever getting my loop along with any jumps after freeskate 3 level. It's always been difficult for me, I'm one of few, I think 2 at the time, left handed skaters at our club and no one was able to help me understand how to flip the steps for these in a way that made sense. Now 10 years later, with this video, it makes sense. I just want to build my muscle memory, balance, spins, footwork, and strength back before trying jumps again. I would love to finish out my levels for learn to skate and help my daughter learn them as long as she will allow me to teach her.

    • @CoachJulia

      A 'tapped toe' is when you tap the ice with your toe pick during the jump takeoff. So Toe Loops, Flips and Lutzes all have a 'tapped toe' entry.

    Hi. Can you make a video of:
    1. difference between ISI and ISU level?
    2. I'm taking ISI but why my coach didn't teach me Tot 1-4 requirements? Why did they teach me pre-alpha straightforward?
    Thank you 🥰

    • @CoachJulia
      @CoachJulia  3 года назад

      I can answer one of those right now, Tot is only taught to people under the age of 5. So unless you were quite young when you started, you would always begin with Pre-Alpha with ISI.

    • @CoachJulia
      @CoachJulia  Год назад

      Oh it can be such a tough transition to do it from back crossovers. Set up tall and then only compress your knees when you are ready to take off. You want it to feel like a spring. Tall and then bend-explode.

    • @CoachJulia
      @CoachJulia  4 месяца назад

      You do jump off the edge, but you also have to roll from the outside edge up to the toe pick as you take off. You should not be jumping flat footed, but pushing from that edge all the way up through the toe as you take off.

    Why learn a loop from a fwd inside three turn, instead of back crossovers? In the slo motion you are taking off fwd, rather than from a back outside edge.

    • @CoachJulia
      @CoachJulia  3 года назад +3

      From the 3 turn it is much easier for people to understand the way the jump rotates. With the back crossovers it is more of a challenge to create the rotation. With my in-person students, as soon as they are fully landing from a three turn, I start working with them on transferring those skills to a back crossover entrance.
