    Hi, Coach Julia,
I started watching your tutorials on RUclips 6 months ago. Your videos inspired me so much that I was practicing about 4 days a week. My mum put me in a group class, found a great coach, and I competed my competition two weeks ago. All from your videos. So, please continue with your gift.
I will be going to California end of June and would love to stop by spend a bit of time with you, if you are available.

I am converting from roller skating to ice skating after 15 years of both figures and free and dance too. its so similar but so much harder... I converted my boots over from roller skates to ice skates after buying a pair of ice skates and swapping over my plates. Now with these videos I am finding it much easier. so thank you very much for making these videos for free. :)

As always from Coach Julia, an A1 excellent instructional video and as a rule all of Coach Julia's videos, including this one, are the best videos on RUclips of the subject matter. On any topic, start with Coach Julia's video first and then review other videos as secondary sources offering alternate instructional strategies. On any conflict between Coach Julia's instruction and some other coaches, assume Coach Julia's advice to be the correct and best approach, I'm sure that will almost always be the case. In this video her advice to not use the toe-pick when doing that basic entry with the "pivot" is great advice. Putting the right toe-pick in the ice for a pivot there is the wrong approach, that will lead you to spin in place like a ballerina would, when what you need is to skate backwards in a small circle.

Just because, Julia can ice-dance and it’s different. I was 4 when I begin Classic Dance ’til my 19 years old. I don’t need to swizzle to spin as a dancer. And we have the straight moode in us. I’m sorry for my English but I’m agree with Julia. What you can’t do in one time, I make it.
Do you know only splits, you’re wrong , because you need to be straihgt, and only. Take some lessons with the world ballet, in youtube Channel.

Thank you so much. I just got angry and left the ice last class becuase of this. The coach warmed us up by practicing some backwards outside and inside edges. I thought I would be able to do those but to my surprise I couldn't do them at all. From there a few other exercises and then this back spin and I had had enough and deserted class and even skipped power class after that. I have several problems. I don't like skating in sharp skates so I had let my skates wear down, I like them that way. I felt myself sliding too much so I had them sharpened and now it's like learning to skate all over. Lesson learned: keep them sharp and learn how to skate in sharp skates. Then I thought I was getting good at my one foot spin but hit a wall at five revolutions and had to start over at square one to learn the proper entry and that three turn. Demoralising to be back at zero revs after I thought I was at five. It was all just too much for me. I can't wait to get back on the ice and try these lessons in this video.

Hello , fantastic tuto video as always :) I still have a question : when you're doing the first exercice : on wich part of the blade are you ? ball or further back ? thanks

    • @CoachJulia
      @CoachJulia  3 года назад +3

You want to try and stand on the rocker, so basically the ball of the foot. Some people have a real problem with hitting their toe pic though, so I would suggest they try and stand just behind the rocker as they learn foot control.

Thanks so much for all you’ve done to me. I would have my ice dancer exam in France and no one teach me . Just yourself and I try my hardest to win. I’ve got my chance , I ’ve danced when I was 4 ’til I was 19 years old. And classic dance is now my power.

      Hi Julia,
It’s okay to me to let my leg front of me even if I turn on my syntetic Rink ’cause in France, all the rinks are not open . I have the chance to have mine but it’s not seemer than a real ice.
I have danced classic dance at 4 years old and, pendind 15 years long, it’s my other chance, and you are my chance too.
I don’t want to have my exam of ice-skater, in solo, I want to have my National.
May you teach me ice dancing, I ’m staight because of dance and I was an attorney. I chost my young retreat because of another chance and since 2018 , I ’ve always dance, even country that I learned as yourself, but it was texans women.
I dance all , with risks and now miss me ,this dance the harderst one. But, I’m in Love with this and I’m such a fool.
      Thanks so much.
This lesson’s okay, and I have to go to the real rink in May but the 21 or in june ..... France,s wrong, money, just for money because you know, France is the only country to asked 44 Milliards € to Germany.
Thanks to be An half Spanish and Jewish from Egypte .
      I stay in touch
