This one scares me because I'm coming back from a serious injury that kept me off the ice for about 14 years. I'm finally taking my life back and not letting the pain and weakness stop me from skating. Thanks for posting a great breakdown! It's giving me the courage to get my loop back. It took some time, but now there's a brace that can keep my kneecap from drifting, so I just have to GET UP.
Thumbs up for JJ style!
ITS JJ STYLE!!!!
King JJ
FUCCCCCCKKLKLLKKKK
JJ STYLE!!!!
Its JJ stile!!!
What I like about your videos is that you break down steps. Other videos on RUclips are like, "So this is a loop jump, and this is how you do it", and demonstrate that s/he can do it, and that's it. It's like "just do it" type of videos that do not help viewers at all.
this is good I mistakenly did this once when I went to waltz jump
haha, nice
How do you do a loop instead of waltz? Waltz is on a forward outside edge and loop is on backward inside?
@@jewelbaker5677 *accidentally takes off backwards*
Jewel Baker Sometimes when I go to do’s waltz jump I flub and go on a forward inside instead of outside it’s not unlikely
how is that even possible?
The best tutorial on the loop yet!
Great tutorial. Thank you for sharing!
***** Thanks :)
Why am I watching this, I already know how to make a loop jump 😂
John I love your tutorials!! They are very clear, yet detailed at the same time without being too much of an information overload. Do you plan on doing single axel tutorials to double flips and double loops tutorials? Thank you!
+Stephanie M Thanks, yes I will be doing an axel video soon and working my way through the doubles too.
Yes, tutorial on single axel would be GREAT!!
Diana Thakur I'm hoping to get one done soon.
I've been struggling to do this jump for the past few months, because i find it difficult to rotate from the backward edge to forwards before i jump (after the three turn). I only rotate quarter of the way, so i don't jump from forwards , i then struggle to make the landing.
Do you have any tips that could help this rotation?
This tutorial, and all your others are really helpful because you breakdown each step, they've helped me to improve quite a bit.
Thank you!
+sophie jay Try your best to keep working on the 3 turn, making sure your weight is inside the circle, hopefully then you will be able to curve a little more. Thanks, Im glad they are helping you :)
+THINICE Thankyou :) I'll have to try that on my next session!
as i first started practicing this jump, id keep my free foot on the ice during that rotation so I could get used to the motion of switching from backward to forward which my other foot down for balance, then after i get used to it i gradually started doing it with my free foot up where it supposed to be. not sure if this is good advice or not but it helps me
Thanks! I can't wait for the video on the flip (my struggle of the moment).
your tutorials actually make sense. thanks for sharing
+Alberto Quinones No problem :)
I cant tell you how many jumps this guy has helped me with. Probably all of them 😁
you make it very simple !! thank you so much!!!
This tutorial is so great! I'm working on my loop jump right now and I use the exact same entry.
I'm working on my loop jump too !
Good tutorial this. Just started the loop today and this helps.
OMG I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! 😄👍
I allready thanked you before for other stuff, but thanks again man. Now I understand what I have been doing wrong all the time. I tried jumping a loop without that extra ½ pivot rotation before takeoff.
I have been struggling with this for ages!!! Thank you the video helped me loads!
This is such a great video, love it!
Great tutorial love it still got my fingers crossed for the giveaway(rockerz)
Keep making great tutorials love them
Thanks for this video ! I could do the jump in class when we did one day but couldn't repeat it afterwards. You have the same technique as my coach, so now I can see it's a matter of timing. Hopefully, next time I skate I will get the jump back !
Thanks for your videos! :) They are very informative and helpful. Your videos are by far the best ones I've seen on RUclips, because you break down the jumps and other elements to tiny details. :) Thank you so much! I think I'm going to try this one the next time I go to the rink.
+Alexandra Ylihuttula No problem :) thanks for watching
Great video!!! this is how I do my loop jump, but i find that I am rushing my entry and not holding the edge longer. Some how the other way of doing the loop is way difficult for me. I like this entry so much better. any suggestions?
Diana Thakur This is a great way to do your loop, but does get a little more difficult to control the rotation once you start adding more turns, the other entry takes a lot of practice, you just have to work on creating an active edge.
Thank you so much I got my loop yesterday (30/03/2019) because of this video
You're the best. This is the best, ugh I love it! Thanks so much
your videos have taught me more than any other have pls upload more. hopefully more beginner stuff
Can you show a video on how to do brackets? I just started working on them, and I find them confusing, particularly with the arms.
Janet Slater Yes of course, I will do them as soon as I can.
mastered!! kind of... :) thanks again for your tutorials, they are very helpful!
I always land on two feet. Well, I technically land on one foot but then I quickly put down my other leg. Is there any way to fix this?
BelLia Methurn I used to have this problem, you have to try and stand up straight and not lean to one side when you land so you can balance on one foot, also try to think about pulling your leg upwards and out immediately after you land instead of dropping your leg out to the side right after landing. Take note that your leg dosent drop right to the ground after landing so try to pull your leg out faster before you have time to drop your leg down.
im not advanced enough to do jumps but maybe try practicing back spirals and the landing position in a circle?
Make sure you keep your weight on your landing foot, and when you land, bend your knee.
try to practice off ice!
Can you please make videos teaching/showcasing all the usfsa basic skills requirements? I think it will help many students
Thank you for your videos. How easy and simple in Your performance)))
This fixed my loop and my coach was very happy. I moved on quickly to loop-loop and toe loop-loop. Thanks to you, I managed to land an axel on regular floor!
+iomoon Nice, well done, Axel on ice soon :)
Im guessing this is where you start learning how to cross your legs while jumping to prepare for doubles? I didnt understand this jump at all, it seemed impossibly dificult but now I finally understand it. You've helped so many people with these videos, keep it up
I do roller skating and we have mostly the same jumps but it seems so much easier on ice because you get to go on more of an edge where with roller skating you have you use your leg to get straight up. Sorry I’m bad at explaining things
i'm in level intermediate and this jump is difficult a little for me thanks for video 👏👏👍
Thanks for the video it helped loads x
This was so useful thankyou!
Anna Smith No problem :)
thank you so much for this great video!!
No problem :)
I'll try this after I get new skates. I still use rentals from like 5 months now
im going to try this today... thank you..
Hi sir, could u please do a tutorial on how to do the spread eagle? Both inside and outside edge. Thanks in advance.
Nigel Yeo yes, of course, I will try and get one done soon.
thank you!
thank you so much for all of these videos! the one foot spin video was especially helpful- i found out that i'd been doing it wrong all these years, haha.
do you have any ideas on how you can practice efficiently alone when you're without your coach?
+black-and-yellow-roses try making a list of what you think you should practice and make sure you do a bit of everything, and when you are next with your coach they can correct you if you are doing anything wrong or or give you pointers on what to work on.
I am having problem with this jump now, especially the waltz loop / loop loop combination. Come back here to watch your video again to re-lecture. Thank you.
EVERYWHERE. EVERYWHERE YURI ON ICE WEEBS.. FUCCCKKKING DAMNIT.
(I have 231 victuuri pictures on my phone)
Marelei 👏
i can do this without the skates but im scared to do it with the skates on to jump... did you learned doing this without a helment? did u ever fall doing this?
i have struggled with this jump for months :(( and i cant figure out why, when i jump i always land in the correct position but instead of letting my leg go up and down i seem to fall forward and i land and then i put my other foot down, i’ve landed them correctly before but it’s only when i somehow accidental do it. It’s so frustrating :,) i don’t know what i’m doing wrong wince my three-turn and jump is good it’s only
the landing that i can’t seem to stick
Hi John, thank for sharing this Video. Is it useful to learn the jumps on the ground (not on ice) i.e. jumping a 360° or is this much more difficult and dangerous for injuries? Looking forward to reading from you, Cheers!
+The AbstractName yes, it's always good to practice off ice, hopefully will be doing an off ice video in the future.
Is that artificial ice? Like made from plastic or is it real ice?
Elise Wachter Real ice
I do a loop jump out of backwards crossovers, but I feel like I'm taking off on two feet? Like, my weight is on my right leg (I rotate anti-c) but my left foot is still lightly touching the ice. Is that wrong then? Should I not be doing it out of crossovers?
I need help :( when i do the forward inside edge, then cross my feet I can't seem to turn and jump I always land both of my feet... any tips?
I'm learning this jump now in ice skating, and I can't get it down. I somewhat have the take off but can get the jump
+Grace Frischmann keep going, you will get there.
heelllp my coach says I do a little three turn before actually jumping and I'm not sure how to stop it's like i do the whole rotation aas a 3 turn then kinda just hop, tips please anyone?
REPLY TO ME
Awesome! my coach said to be in sort of a sitting position as a boost for the jump. would that be correct?
+NightmareLuna X yes, that is correct :)
p.s grate video
Can a beginner learn this jump with practice or is this only for advance skaters?
you could probably learning with some basic knowledge of skating
(ie. once you can really get edges and stand on one foot on the ice, you'll probably be able to do small jumps)
OK so I'm in star two and I have a program but,I can't get my loop or flip and I need to get it my compation is in March (31) all the other girls in my skating clue can do it I'm so embarrassed iv been watching this video so much and I practice offer ice and on I feel so much but the for the video I hope I will get the jump bye!
So just to recap ------Salchow has a flatter edge before the pivot and loop has more of a curve before the pivot of the take off. At least that's what I got from the two videos.
Is there such a thing as used blades? I got a very nice pair of skates years back but could never spin. I found out that the blades on those skates that year had a screwed up curve and were too flat or something (I don't know anything technical). I Only had a few lessons to learn all the jumps one winter and I can do all those but I can't spin. Don't have a skate shop, or other skaters to try their skates or anything. (I'm a size 5.5) so I'd love to pop on some used blades to try it out before spending a grip on new ones if I am mistaken about the blades being wrong and it's just me.
just sharpen the blades, I find it easier to spin with worn blades, recently sharped ones cling to the ice too hard and I'm not strong enough to make myself spin in those conditions
I keep taking off on two feet instead of one
I’m probably going to confuse this with ballet
Why do I feel like I’ve seen this rink before?
I'm supposed to do that on my own? great tutorial but how am I to do that?
Random Gal360 this is hilarious for some reason XD
lol 😂It's confusing though
Random Gal360 OhMahGud you're a "lol" gurl. I'm disappointed in you. I had faith in you. y u let me drown?
Awe I'm sorry bro! I didn't want to let you down!!
Random Gal360 you brozoned me? y u di dis? I thought we had something special. Our connection was strong nuclear. The effects will be devastating!
I think this is a prism jump

honestly i started up again because I missed skating after i watched it, but now i'm taking lessons and really just want to improve.
Evan Parker i feel at home when i am on the ice i try to slate everyday so i can do tricks and move freeely on the ice
